Saturday 1st September

AFC Sudbury  0 – 1   Bowers & Pitsea    | King’s Marsh (3G)   |  Att: 287

Bowers showed all their guile to come away with the points, despite being a man light for over an hour of this encounter at King’s Marsh. Quentin Monville grabbed the only goal on 14 minutes. Prolific scorer David KNight had a day to forget though as he was dismissed just shy of the half-hour point. Rob Small’s side held firm though to claim the win and preserve their unbeaten start. Sudbury fell to their second defeat thus far this term.

Barking   3 – 0   Romford     | Mayesbrook Park  | Att: 101

Barking defeated Romford to claim their first win of the campaign. A brace from recent signing Darelle Russell [29′ & 77′] and a Joe Bruce penalty in added-time secured the points for Justin Gardner’s side and also ended Romford’s unbeaten start to the season.

Canvey Island  2 – 0   Bury Town   |  Park Lane  | Att: 205

Canvey got their first win since the opening day with this success over Bury Town. An early strike from Frankie Merrifield [8′] set them on their way before a late second from Marlon Agyakwa ten miutes before the end sealed the win. Town fell to their second defeat thus far this term here.

Felixstowe & Walton Utd   2 – 0   Aveley    |  Dellwood Avenue | Att: 405

Felixstowe achieved a good win over previously unbeaten Aveley at Dellwood Avenue. Jordan Matthews struck ten minutes before half-time to put his side ahead. Sam Ford [90′] grabbed a late second though a minor blip saw substitute Ben Clarke dismissed in added-time for the hosts who have three wins from their opening four matches now.

Grays Athletic  0 – 5  Maldon & Tiptree   | Parkside (3G) | Att: 132

Maldon blew away ten-man Grays at Parkside. Club stalwart Joao Carlos got his marching orders after just 22 minutes and the Jammers made the most of the man advantage with Decarrey Sheriff [29′] and Shane Cojocarel [38′] netting before half-time. After the interval, the pain continued for Ath as Chris Millar [58′], Sheriff’s second on 68 minutes and a strike from Jack Cawley 11 minutes from time ensured Maldon got their their third straight win here. Grays haven’t won since the opening day.

Great Wakering Rovers  1 – 1  Brentwood Town  | Burroughs Park  | Att: 110

These two old rivals shared the spoils at Burroughs Park. Brentwood led thanks to Albert Levett’s spot-kick on 19 minutes. That lead was duly vanquished ten minutes later as Simon Thomas levelled for Rovers. The stalemate prevailed as both sides seek to get a few wins under their belts early-doors this season.

Heybridge Swifts   0 – 3    Dereham Town     | Scraley Road    | Att: 287

Dereham picked up an excellent win over Swifts at Scraley Road. Daniel Beaumont put them ahead on 27 minutes before further strikes from Ollie Ebbage [63′] and substitute George Quantrell [85′] made sure of their second win of the season. Heybridge have won two and lost two thus far.

Soham Town Rangers   0 – 3    Coggeshall Town   |  Julius Martin Lane  |  Att: 182

Coggeshall defeated Soham to continue their more than decent start to the campaign. Aaron Condon broke the deadlock on 31 minutes and the visitors led at the break. Strikes from Ross Wall [59′] and Nnamdi Nwachuku [74′] broke the resistance of the hosts and Soham are winless in their opening four matches.

Tilbury    1 – 2    Basildon Utd    |  Chadfields  | Att: 149

The Bees continued their 100% record in the division with a good win at Chadfields. Eljay Worrell struck for Marc Harrison’s men on 17 minutes though Ex-Chelmsford and Canvey striker James Walker levelled for Joe Keith’s side eight minutes later. Basildon re-took the lead nine minutes after half-time thanks to Marcus Bowers’ goal and held on to condemn the Dockers to their third defeat in four matches.

Witham Town  1 – 1   Mildenhall Town  |   Spa Road     | Att: 84

Finally, Witham fought back to hold the Hall at Spa Road. The visitors led through John Sands’ goal on the half-hour. L’heureux Menga pounced on 65 minutes to give mark Ashford’s side a share of the ponts and Mildenhall have three draws from their opening four matches.
