Hello and welcome to my round-up of Essex Olympian League action from the weekend of Saturday 15th September, with results from the first two tiers of the Essex Alliance League as well.

EOFL Premier Division

Starting off with the Premier Division as ever, current leaders Buckhurst Hill continued their fine start with a 1 – 0 triumph at Old Southendian, who were unable to get their first points of the season. Sonny Shilling struck late on to give Hill the victory.

Bishop’s Stortford Swifts defeated Harold Wood Athletic 3 – 2 as a brace from Charles Brown and a Mark Nougher strike overturned goals from Robert Whitnell and Joe Stevens for Ath who are now three points behind the leaders Buckhurst Hill. Rayleigh Town continued their useful start to the campaign with a 3 – 1 home victory over last season’s champions Catholic Utd. Max Jones ‘came to the party’ again with a splendid hat-trick for the hosts to secure the points.

Elsewhere, Canning Town won 2 – 0 at Sungate thanks to an OG and a Tom Quinn strike. Kelvedon Hatch won 2 – 1 at Leigh Ramblers as Dan Gillard and Mike Daniels strikes saw them to victory with former Essex Senior League player Matt Brinklow netting for Ramblers. Dan Gage’s double for Great Baddow saw them a 2 – 1 away-day win at winless Manford Way. Lee Lashley got their goal though the search for a win goes on.

EOFL Senior Division One

Shenfield AFC powered to a impressive 5 – 2 win at Frenford Reserves with braces for Jordan Elliott and Mitch Day and a Sam Bubb strike. Luke Jacobs and Reece Morley pulled two back for the hosts. Herongate Athletic also won 5 – 2, at home to Ramsden Scotia. Perry Aldridge and Ben Lambert netted twice while Ben Crouch provided the other goal for Herongate while Keegan Risley and Sam Wren struck for Scotia.

Snaresbrook narrowly won 1 – 0 over May & Baker E.C. Ressies with Harry Price getting the only goal. Basildon Town continued their renaissance with a 1 – 0 success at Old Chelmsfordians thanks to Jamie Miller’s strike.

EOFL Division Two

In Senior Two, Rochford Town had a day to remember with a 4 – 2 home win over Beacon Hill Rovers. Jason Patmore struck twice with Dwayne Francis-Riley and Troy Reed strikes adding to the scorers for the hosts. Charlie Brewer and Steve Bennett goals for Rovers weren’t enough to alter the result.

Runwell Sports secured a comeback victory over Lakeside as Callum Prin, Declan Clarke and an OG saw Sports to the points. To round out the action in D2, Toby and Shoebury Town drew 2 – 2 – Peter Spicer struck both of Toby’s goals while Dominic Binns and Aaron Day secured a point for Town. Newham Utd also drew 2 – 2 at Upminster with Kaci Henry and Omar Jomanday getting Utd’s goals.

Finally, in Senior Division Three, Old Southendian Reserves won 3 – 1 at White Ensign Reserves as Ryan Kelly, Pete Jelley and Ben Franklin all scored for OS’ second-string. Zach Somerset-Butley pulled one back for the hosts though they fell to defeat. Meanwhile, Westhamians also got a away win, 3 – 1 at Roydon. Tom Pennells, Ben Jones and Sam Jones supplied the goals for the newcomers while Nader Benzid got Roydon’s goal.

Also, Academy Soccer won 1 – 0 at Hutton Reserves thanks to an early as Luis Ruiz strike.

This blog is centred on all things Non-League Football, mainly Match Reports of matches I've seen (mainly Essex Senior League (ESL) but also other Leagues) though it also houses the regular round-up's of the ESL action plus the Essex Olympian League divisions regularly. It also has the odd post about the scary world that we're all in, talking from a Mental Health perspective. Thank you for reading.
