Hello & welcome to another round of the Bostik North round-up, here on the blog. This article looks at the action on Saturday 12th January. How did your side do?
Saturday 12th january 2019

 

Aveley  3 – 2   Felixstowe & Walton Utd    | Parkside (3G) | Att: 294

The Millers had to rally to continue their good run at Parkside. Tom Richardson nabbed the first of the contest on 12 minutes for the home side though a quick double for the visitors from Rhys Henry [23′] and Jack Ainsley [29′] did threaten a upset. Shad Ngandu’s penalty five minutes into the second-half vanquished that idea though and Andy Freeman continued his fine form in front of goal with the winner with 15 minutes left. Only one defeat in their last eleven games has helped them up to 3rd place, while Felixstowe have only managed one win in their last eight games, falling to 14th spot.

 

Basildon Utd  0 – 3  Tilbury   |  Gardiners Close  | Att: 168

Ex-Bees boss Marc Harrison extended his old club’s dismal form as the Dockers won at Gardiners Close. George Sykes broke the stalemate just shy of the half-hour before another brace for the prolific Lewis Smith [44′ & 73′] saw Tilbury to the points and extended their impressive form with only one loss in their last nine matches, which takes them up to 8th place. Basildon’s fourth loss on-the-trot sees them fall to 13th.

 

Bowers & Pitsea   3 – 0  AFC Sudbury  | Len Salmon Stadium (3G)  | Att: 124

Bowers grabbed their 6th win in their last seven outings with a a strong second-half display to defeat Sudbury. Skipper Martyn Stokes  powered Rob Small’s side ahead on 52 minutes, before Brad Warner [76′] and James Thomas [90′] goals helped Bowers to retain their three-point lead at the summit. The Suds drop one to 7th.

Brentwood Town   3 – 2  Great Wakering Rovers  | Brentwood Arena | Att: 143

Brentwood emerged from a ding-dong battle with Wakering with the points. Former Town forward Shomari Barnwell broke the deadlock after only seven minutes though the home side quickly levelled through Ernest Okoh’s goal six minutes afterward. Two goals in six minutes saw Town take the lead as Alfie Hilton struck four minutes after the break before Okoh’s second of the afternoon on 55 minutes saw the visitors face a challenge to get anything from the game. Jake Gordon’s spot-kick on the hour halved the arrears though George Cox’s dismissal on 74′ made it harder and Rovers’ third straight loss sees them only four points clear of trouble in 15th. Brentwood’s fourth win in their last seven sees them up to 11th.

 

Bury Town  1 – 1  Canvey Island  | Ram Meadow  | Att: 311

Canvey were stunned by a late leveller by in-form hosts Bury Town. Josh Hutchinson continued his fine season with the opening strike on six minutes to put the Islanders ahead though an injury-time strike by Kyran Clements denied Mark Bentley’s side all three points. The hosts haven’t won in three now though sit ninth, a point clear of Canvey who haven’t lost in three games though are ten points off the play-offs in 10th.

 

Coggeshall Town  3 – 0  Soham Town Rangers  | West Street  | Att: 118

Coggeshall remain in the play-off spots with a comfortable win over strugglers Soham. Nnamdi Nwachuku’s 4th-minute opener set the tone somewhat. MIchael Gyasi [51′] and George Cocklin [54′] goals swiftly put the hosts in command after the interval as they claimed their third win in their last six matches. Soham stay 17th, merely a point clear of danger.

Dereham Town  1  – 3  Heybridge Swifts  | Aldiss Park | Att: 323

Swifts came back from an early deficit to claim another success, this time at Dereham. Joe Gatting’s goals are rare bright spark for the home side right now and his 7th-minute strike put the hosts ahead. After the hour though, Julian Dicks’ side powered back with Kreshnic Krasniqi levelling affairs on 63 minutes. Strikes from Matt Price [76′] and Luke Wilson [83′] secured the points in front of more than 300 fans at Aldiss Park. Town’s winless stretch extends to ten matches though as they remain bottom, four points from safety. Heybridge’s 7th win in their last eight games sees them stay 2nd.

Maldon & Tiptree  2 – 2  Grays Athletic   | Park Drive  | Att: 225

Grays came out of this battle with a share of the points, having initially led this contest. Charlie Allen provided the opening goal on 11 minutes though Laste Dombaxe’s spot-kick erased that advantage eleven minutes later. Stephane Ngamvoulou turned the course of the game only four minutes later to put the hosts ahead. Kieran Bishop struck again midway through the second-half to continue his goal-scoring form for Ath though they lost ground in the play-off hunt as they are now seven points adrift of 5th-placed Coggeshall. Maldon also conceded points in the promotion race, as they drop to fourth, six points behind leaders Bowers & Pitsea.

Mildenhall Town  2 – 0  Witham Town  | Recreation Way  | Att: 203

Fortune was not on the side of Witham at Recreation Way as not one but two own goals assisted the Hall to a vital win in this bottom-of-the-table clash. Kevin Coyle put the hosts ahead with a 13th-minute OG which Danny Norton added to both the OG count and the goal count with the hosts’ second on the stroke of half-time. Mildenhall’s first win in eight matches sees them emerge out of the bottom two on goal difference. Witham sit 16th, four points clear of their opponents hee after their first loss in seven outings.

 

Romford  0 – 0  Barking   | Rookery Hill  | Att: 96

Romford and Barked duked it out at Rookery Hill though ultimately could not be seperated. Boro continue to struggle for victories and fall to second-bottom while the Blues sit 12th.

Round-up: Bostik Division North (Sat 5 Jan) [BLN 6.1.19]

Hello and welcome to the first Bostik North round-up piece of the new year, on a day where there were no draws at all in the ten matches in the division.

Saturday 5th Jan

AFC Sudbury  0 – 2  Aveley  | King’s Marsh (3G) | Att: 255

Aveley continued their almost unblemished recent form with a good win at King’s Marsh. Tom Rochardson broke the stalemate on 33 minutes to put thevisitors ahead. That lead was doubled nine minutes into the second-half by influential forward Andy Freeman. The Millers picked up their seventh win in their last ten outings to go into 4th place, five points off the promotion spot. The Suds saw their four-match winning run end here though still sit in 6th place, five points adrift of the play-offs.

Barking  5 – 1  Basildon Utd  | Mayesbrook Park  | Att: 72

The Blues added more misery to the Bees with this comprehensive win at mayesbrook Park. Justin Gardner’s side were three up by the half-hour as Kemo Darboe 5th-minute opener was added to by a brace by former Ware forward Ross Elsom [16′ & 26′]. Darelle Russell made it four, six minutes before the interval. Jeffrey Cobblah struck Basildon’s consolation [53′] though new boss Neil Blackburn’s re-building job isn’t going to be easy. Abs Seymour rounded out the scoring by getting the hosts’ fifth with six minutes remaining. Barking have won three of their last five matches which sees them reside in 12th spot. Basildon’s eighth loss in their last eleven matches sees them drop to 11th, a point clear of their opponents here.

 

Canvey Island  2 – 1  Mildenhall Town   | Park Lane  | Att: 208

Adam Vyse inspired Canvey to success over struggling Mildenhall. Town did take the lead in this one though through Abouhadje Kouassi [25′]. Vyse levelled matters from the penalty spot, seven minutes before the break. Vyse then got the winner with 16 minutes remaining to give the Islanders their third win in five matches, which sees them up to 9th spot. The Hall are winless in seven matches now, which sees the remain second-bottom, two points from safety.

 

Felixstowe & Walton Utd  3 – 0  Coggeshall Town  | Dellwood Ave  | Att: 560

Felixstowe upset Cogg to claim a much sought-after three points at Dellwood Avenue. All three goals came in a twenty-minute spell. First, Rhys Henry broke the deadlock right on the hour, and a brace from Josh Kerridge [73′ & 80′] sealed their first win in seven matches. They rise to 13th while Coggeshall drop to 5th, five points clear of nearest rivals Sudbury.

 

Grays Athletic  3 – 2  Bury Town   | Parkside (3G)  | Att: 192

Grays battled to victory in a match which saw most of the goal action after the innterval. Kieran Bishop added to his glowing reputation with the Ath fans with the opener just before half-time. Kyran Clements got an equaliser on 72 minutes though barely four minutes later, Bishop struck again to restore the home side’s lead. Aron Gordon made it 3 – 1 on 82 minutes and although Ryan Horne added a 90th-minute second for the visitors, it wasn’t enough to deny Ath a first win in five outings and go above their opponents here into 7th place.

 

Great Wakering Rovers  2 – 4  Maldon & Tiptree  | Burroughs Park  | Att: 103

Maldon came away with the points from this tussle at Burroughs Park. Wayne Brown’s side had the better of the first half as DeCarrey Sheriff’s spot-kick put them ahead on 16  minutes, before Sammie Mcleod’s brace [30′ & 32′] put the Jammers well ahead. Jake Gordon pulled one back for a stubborn Wakering side 12 minutes before the break. The first period ended with Sham Barnwell netting for the hosts and Sheriff grabbing his second for the visitors. The visitors held on without further incident to achieve their fourth win in their last six to stay third. Wakering’s 4th loss in their last seven sees them drop to 15th.

 

Heybridge Swifts  1 – 0  Bowers & Pitsea  | Scraley Road  | Att: 329

This battle of the top-two went the way of the hosts, with recent signing Charlie Kendall grabbing the only goal on 62 minutes. Bowers’ five match-winning run is over  while Swifts continue to impress under boss Julian Dicks as they are unbeaten in seven matches now.

 

Soham Town Rangers  4 – 0  Romford  | Julius Martin Lane  | Att: 136

Soham won this ‘six-pointer’ with something to spare in the end to consign Boro to their sixth loss in their last seven. Soham were two goals up inside the first 20 minutes as Sam Mulready continued his fine scoring form with the opener on 11 minutes, before Callum Russell [18′] doubled the lead. Mulready put the game realistically beyond doubt with his second of the afternoon, ten minutes after the break. Michael Baulk added a late fourth to give his side a second straight victory to send them above their opponents into 17th, four points above the bottom two. Romford are two points behind Soham in 18th.

 

Tilbury  4 – 2  Dereham Town   | Chadfields  |  Att: 101

The Dockers continued their fine run with a good win over bottom side Dereham. The visitors took the lead through David Hinton’s goal on 21 minutes though that advantage only lasted six minutes before talisman Lewis Smith levelled the match. A brace from influential midfielder Thomas Barton [56′ & 64′] turned the course of the game. Smith got his second of the day with 11 minutes to play. Joe Gatting grabbed a second for Town on the stroke of the 90 though the visitors winless run extends to nine matches. By contrast, Marc Harrison’s team has only tasted defeat once in eight matches and go up to tenth spot.

 

Witham Town  2 – 1  Brentwood Town  | Spa Road  | Att: 117

Witham extended their winning run to five matches with a hard-fought win over Brentwood at Spa Road. Ernest Okoh gave the visitors the lead on 24 minutes though Town restored parity ten minutes afterward through Toby Aromolaran and then led on the stroke of half-time thanks to Luke Mallett’s penalty.  Witham sit 16th, seven points clear of the drop zone while Town slip to 14th because of results elsewhere.

 

Round-up: Bostik League North (Sat 15 Dec) [BLN 16.12.18]

Hello & welcome to another round-up  of action this weekend that took place in the Bostik League Division North as every match did take place on the rain-drenched Saturday 15th of December.

Saturday 15th December

AFC Sudbury  8 – 2  Dereham Town  | Venue: King’s Marsh (3G)  | Att: 194

The Suds absolutely vanquished sorry Dereham with this massive win at King’s Marsh. The hosts led thanks to a brace from Paul Hayes [22’ & 40’] and a third from Callum Harrison, three minutes before the break put the hosts in command. The onslaught continued soon after the restart as Reece Harris smashed a hat-trick inside nine minutes [53’, 58’ & 61’] to erase any doubt as to where the points were heading. Joe Gatting did give the travelling support ‘something to shout about’ with a 67th-minute goal though Tom Monk made it 7 – 1 on 86 minutes. Gatting got his second two minutes later for the visitors before Mekhi McKenzie completed the rout on the cusp of full-time.

Sudbury claimed their fourth win in their last eight games and soit 9th spot while Dereham fall to the foot of the table following a run of six matches without a win.

Bowers & Pitsea  3 – 1  Soham Town Rangers   | Venue: Len Salmon Stadium  (3G)  |    At: 86

Bowers had super-sub David Knight to thank for this victory at the Len Salmon. Soham have shown sprinkles of revival of late and did take the lead on 25 minutes here through Sam Mulready’s spot-kick. Crucially though, that lead didn’t quite last until half-time as Lewis Manor levelled for Rob Small’s side just before the break. This ended up giving the hosts some impetus after the break as Knight got a brace [63’ & 90’] to secure Bowers’ their third straight win  which takes them back to the summit of Bostik North. Soham’s third loss in their last five sees them fall to second-bottom.

Bury Town  2 – 1  Barking    | Venue:  Ram Meadow   |  Att: 240

Town overcame the Blues thanks to two goals from key man Ollie Hughes. He got the opener on 25 minutes though Darelle Russell eliminated that lead eleven minutes afterward. The hosts re-took the lead right before the interval as Hughes grabbed his second of the afternoon and with no further goals in the second period; Town’s four-match winless run is over as they sit in 8th spot. Barking reside in 14th place.

Canvey Island  0 – 1  Witham Town   | Venue: Park Lane  | Att: 121

Witham continued their recent upturn in form with a terrific win at Canvey. Johnny Ashman got the only goal on 62 minutes to give Mark Ashford’s men their third straight win to catapult them out of the bottom two, into 16th. Canvey’s inconsistent form reared its head again with their 5th loss in their last eight matches here which saw them drop to 11th.

Coggeshall Town  3 – 0  Great Wakering Rovers  | Venue: West Street | Att: 64

Coggeshall continued their good home form with a strong performance at West Street. Sam Bantick put the hosts ahead after 29 minutes before Connor Hubble doubled that lead on 62 minutes. Rovers had Brian Moses and Jake Gordon among their front line though Cogg sealed the win thanks to Ross Wall’s goal ten minutes from time. The hosts have only tasted defeat once n their last eight and rise to 3rd spot, just three points off leaders Bowers. Wakering are winless in their last four now and fall to 15th.

 

Grays Athletic  2 – 2  Basildon Utd  | Venue: Parkside (3G)  |  Att: 204

These two playing-off chasing sides couldn’t be separated at Parkside. The Bees took the initiative three minutes before the interval as Luke Stanley struck. Ryan Reed inadvertently levelled for the hosts by putting through his own net on 63 minutes though Callum Taylor struck from 12 yards with nine minutes and caretaker boss Lee Connor may have thought they may have earned the three points. It wasn’t to be though as Aron Gordon got Ath another draw with his strike four minutes later. Grays stay 6th despite not winning in their last three games while Bas remain two points behind in 7th and today have appointed Laindon Orient boss Neil Blackburn as their new manager until the end of the season.

 

Maldon & Tiptree  2 – 1  Felixstowe & Walton Utd  | Venue: Park Drive | Att: 122

Maldon produced a stirring comeback to claim all three points at Park Drive. Miles Powell put the Seasiders ahead on 61 minutes though two goals in two minutes swayed the direction of the points as a spot-kick by DeCarrey Sheriff on 74 minutes plus Eddie Dsane’s winner a mere minute later sealed the match’s fate. Utd have lost three on-the-bounce now and drop to 13th while the Jammers rise to 2nd spot, just two points off leaders Bowers after 7 wins in their last eight matches.

 

 

Mildenhall Town  0 – 6  Brentwood Town |   Venue: Recreation Way  |  Att: 110

Brentwood pummeled the Hall to add to their hosts’ misery at Recreation Way. Charlee Hughes continued his fantastic recent scoring run with a hat-trick, firstly to put the hosts ahead on 29 minutes and then added two more in the latter stages [72’ & 76’]. Tony Stokes also grabbed a pair of strikes, one from the spot on the hour and late on [82’]. Goalkeeper Rob Budd also scored with 11 minutes remaining to complete a stellar day for Craig Shipman’s improving side – their third win in their last four, which helps them rise to tenth. Mildenhall have only had one success in their last eight now and are a point clear of the bottom two in 17th.

 

Romford  1 – 5  Heybridge Swifts   |   Venue: Rookery Hill   |  Att: 118

Heybridge continued their fine form with a big win at beleaguered Romford. The dependable Matt Price stroked home a penalty on 21 minutes to give Swifts the lead. Debutant Reece Hewitt levelled for Boro four minutes before the break though full-back Guillem Ramon struck right on half-time to give the visitors the lead once again. Price got his second [62’] before the visitors made the points safe thanks to strikes by Jack Adlington [76’] and Elliot Ronto three minutes later. The winless stretch extends for Paul Martin’s side, and having lost eight of their last nine outings, they fall to 18th. Swifts have opened up a six-point gap from the play-off chasing pack, thanks to their fourth win on-the-spin.

 

Tilbury   3 – 0  Aveley   |   Venue: Chadfields |  Att: 159

The Dockers sent ten-man Aveley to a rare defeat at Chadfields. Oliver Spooner gave Marc Harrison’s side the lead on the half-hour mark before Aveley saw Dan Humphreys dismissed. The hosts took advantage as Lewis Smith [75’] and George Sykes late on sealed the points to take them up to 12th. Aveley drop to 4th on goal difference after their 13-match unbeaten streak ended here.

Hello & welcome to another of my round-up’s of Bostik League North action, on the first week of December 2018. How did your side fare?

 

Saturday 1st December

Bostik Division North 

 

Barking   0 – 1   Bowers & Pitsea   | Mayesbrook Park  (2pm KO) | Att: 54

Bowers got their fourth win in their last six league matches as ex-Blues winger Quentin Monville continued his superb season by getting the only goal with 21 minutes remaining. Justin Gardner’s men continue their intermittent form and drop to 15th spot while Bowers remain 2nd, two points behind leaders Aveley.

 

Basildon Utd   0 – 1   Coggeshall Town   | Gardiners Close | Att: 78

The Bees were on the wrong end of another tight result as high-flying Cogg got the points at Gardiners Close. Correy Davidson struck on 32 minutes to give the visitors their 5th win in their last six, to keep hold of third spot in the standings. Basildon are in 7th place.

 

Brentwood Town   3 – 1   Felixstowe & Walton Utd   |  Brentwood Arena | Att: 136

Town produced a stirring fight-back to overwhelm Felixstowe in a match where all the goals came in the last 25 minutes. The visitors opened the scoring on 68 minutes through the prolific Jack Ainsley though Charlee Hughes levelled for Craig Shipman’s team eight minutes later. The hosts finished the stronger and took the points thanks to strikes by Albert Levett [82’] & Ryan Mallett [87’] which takes them up to 14th place. Utd remain 9th after only their second defeat in five matches.

 

Bury Town  3 – 3  Dereham Town    |  Ram Meadow  | Att: 329

This see-saw encounter saw the hosts scramble a last-moment leveller. Cema Ramadan put Bury ahead though Dereham returned the favour from the penalty spot, as Karol Wengrzik [62’] converted from 12 yards. Ollie Ebbage put the visitors ahead on 71 minutes though only a minute after that, Jake Kerins fired the home side level. Then came the late drama as deep into added-time, Joe Gatting would have been forgiven for thinking he’d scored the winner. Not to be though as Ramadan snared another equaliser for Bury to ensure the points were shared. Bury stay 8th while Dereham drop into the bottom two on goal difference.

 

Canvey Island   0 – 1   Soham Town Rangers  | Park Lane  | Att: 133

Soham continued their recent resurgence with a huge victory at Canvey. Ryan Auger struck the solitary goal after ten minutes to see Soham out of the drop zone after their third win in their last four matches. Canvey’s fourth defeat in their last six league outings keeps them in 11th spot.

 

Grays Athletic  0 – 1   Heybridge Swifts  | Parkside (3G) (2pm KO)  | Att: 133

A moment to forget for home defender Stanley Muguo ended up being the difference for Grays in another tight battle this weekend. Heybridge’s moment of fortune came on 26 minutes when Muguo unwittingly put past his own keeper Lloyd Anderson. Swifts kept up their recent good run with one loss in their last six now and go above Grays into 5th. Ath are a point behind in 6th.

 

Great Wakering Rovers  2 – 3    Tilbury  | Burroughs Park  | Att: 111

Wakering fought hard but ultimately fell to defeat as the Dockers got their third straight victory. Lewis Smith put Marc Harrison’s side ahead on 33 minutes though shortly after coming off the bench, a quick-fire brace for Jake Gordon [55’ & 61’] saw Garry Kimble’s side ahead. Mitchell Gilbey’s strike saw that lead vanquished though only four minutes later and George Sykes got the decisive strike with six minutes remaining. Wakering sit 12th, ahead of their opponents by goal difference only, Tilbury are 13th.

 

Maldon & Tiptree  4 – 1   Romford   | Park Drive  | Att: 110

The Jammers enhanced their unbeaten run with this big win over Boro at Park Drive. Eddie-Louis D’Sane had a big part to play in that with his hat-trick [12’, 27’ & 90’] with Matthew Briggs snaring the other goal just shy of the hour. George Forrest pulled one back for Romford on 66 minutes though the long wait for a win goes on for Paul Martin’s side. Maldon keep 4th place while Romford slide to 16th.

 

Mildenhall Town   1 – 2  Aveley  | Recreation Way | Att: 139

The Millers achieved their sixth win on-the-spin with this battling performance at Recreation Way. Andy Freeman put them ahead nine minutes in. Things didn’t go all their own way as former Aveley defender Hussein Jaffa restored parity for his current side, three minutes before the break. Alex Akrofi got the winner mid-way through the second half to keep the visitors at the top of the standings. The Hall reside in 17th, only outside the drop zone by virtue of goal difference.

 

Witham Town   2 – 0   AFC Sudbury  |  Spa Road  | Att: 108

Witham finally ended a long drought with this triumph over Sudbury at Spa Road. John Watson’s double [17’ & 73’] made sure of only their second win of the campaign which tightens up the bottom five (Town are five points off Romford in 16th) while the Suds remain in 10th spot.

 

Round-up: Bostik Lge Division North (Sat 24th Nov) [BLN 24.11.18]

Hello & welcome to another round of the Bostik North round-up, here on the blog. This article looks at the action in the last weekend of November. How did your side do?

Saturday 24th November

AFC Sudbury  2  – 3  Grays Athletic   | King’s Marsh  (3G)  | Att: 242

The Suds were the victim of a superb comeback by Grays, who celebrated the 128th anniversary of their formation with this victory. Thomas Monk [10′] and Ben Hunter [23′] put the hosts in a fine position. Though Michael Toner pulled one back on 32 minutes and Grays really pushed on after the break. Thomas Wade [61′] and Mitchell Hahn [68′] put Jamie Stuart’s side on course for their 4th straight win as they stay in 5th place. Sudbury first loss in five sees them drop to tenth.

 

Aveley  5 – 3  Brentwood Town    | Parkside (3G) | Att: 254

The Millers powered to another win and hand Town their second 5- 3 loss inside a week. Alex Akrofi’s early double [9′ & 15′], the first of which from the penalty spot, put the the hosts in a good verve. Charlee Hughes kept up his good touch for scoring with another for the visitors on the half-hour. Tom Richardson got his first of the day three minutes later. Zack Littlejohn made it 3 – 2 to the hosts, five minutes before half-time. Richardson got his second seconds later though Town’s resolve wasn’t done as Ryan mallett got on the score-sheet again on 57 minutes. Richardson secured another fine hat-trick on 66 minutes to finally see Aveley to their sixth straight win and go top of the table by two points. Town’s fourth loss in five matches sees them down to 16th.

 

Bowers & Pitsea   2 – 2  Bury Town  | Len Salmon Stadium (3G)  | Att: 122

Bowers were held by plucky Bury Town at the Len Salmon. Returning hero Brad Warner broke the deadlock two minutes before the interval. David Knight made it two from 12 yards and you’d perhaps have thought it was set for another success for Rob Small’s side though it certainly didn’t pan out that way. Jake Kerins halved the deficit just past the hour before Jake Chambers-Shaw revoked the hosts’ lead on 66 minutes. Bowers fell to 2nd while Town are in 8th place.

 

Coggeshall Town  2 – 3  Maldon & Tiptree   | West Street  | Att: 123

Cogg’s 11-match unbeaten run ended in this cracker at West Street. Maldon led on four minutes through Jack Cawley though the home side levelled thanks to Sam Bantick (who else?) just before the half-hour mark. The Jammers restored their advantage through Decarrey Sheriff’s goal [49′] and Sammie McLeod’s deflected free-kick just past the hour. Correy Davidson made it a nervy end with his 89th-minute goal. Although Maldon ended with ten men following James Shepherd’s sending off, they held on for their fourth win in their last sixto stay 4th. Cogg stay 3rd though are only a point clear of their opponents here.

Canvey showed grit in achieving a rare win in recent weeks at Aldiss Park. New signing Adam Vyse got the only goal on 64 minutes although the hosts had to play nearly an hour with ten men after Robbie Linford’s dismissal. Dereham have only got two wins in their last nine now with the other 7 all being losses. Factor in a 3 point penalty for fielding an ineligible player and they are third bottom. Canvey rise to 11th place.

Felixstowe & Walton Utd  2 – 2  Witham Town    | Dellwood Avenue  | Att: 365

Witham pegged back Felixstowe twice to claim a much-needed point away from home. Prolific scorer Jack Ainsley gave the hosts ahead from the spot on 24 minutes  Johnny Ashman took that advantage away with a leveller for Town six minutes before the break. Right on half-ttime, Ainsley struck  again though they were stifled once again through another stand-out scorer for Town – Sam Ashford, again from the penalty spot nine minutes into the second period. The hosts stay 9th in the standings with Witham remaining bottom though they ended a three-match losing run here.

Heybridge Swifts  2 – 0  Barking    | Scraley Road   | Att: 258

Swifts got another home win, this time over the Blues. A double from Matt Price [25′ & 68′] saw Julian Dicks’ side home as they went up to 6th place, two points shy of the play-offs. Justin Gardner’s Barking side are in 13th after their third loss in their last five.

Romford  0 – 0  Basildon Utd   | Rookery Hill  | Att: 109

These two sides battled to a goal-less draw at Rookery Hill as both sides are finding in tough to get wins on the board of late. Romford are have ended a five-match losing streak, they reside in 14th while the Bees got their fourth draw in their last seven matches as they drop to 7th.

Soham Town Rangers  3 – 1  Great Wakering Rovers  | Julius Martin Lane  |  Att: 126

Soham got their second win in their last five outings with a good performance. A fortunate OG by Rovers midfielder Brandy Makhendi gave the hosts the lead on 26 minuutes. That lead was doubled by Lloyd Groves nine minutes after the break. Marcus Bowers gave Wakering a slither of hope of a result by nabbing a goal with nine minutes remaining. Callum Russell snuffed out that possible chance by grabbing Soham’s third on 83 minutes. Their win sees them cut the gap to safety to two points. Wakering drop to 12th.

Tilbury  2 – 0  Mildenhall Town  | Chadfields  | Att: 101

Marc Harrison’s side got back-to-back wins with this triumph over the Hall at Chadfields. Another spot-kick from Lewis Smith [27′] and a George Sykes strike four minutes into the second half provided the goals. The Dockers had to battle with ten men towards the end as recent signing Darren Phillips got his marching orders. The win, only their third of the campaign, sees them rise to 15th, four points above the drop zone. Mildenhall suffered their fifth defeat in their last six as they drop below their opponents to 17th place.

Hello & welcome to another round of the Bostik North round-up with results from South Central and South East divisions, here on the blog. This article looks at the Tuesday night action which resulted in one manger departing. How did your side do?

Tuesday 25th September

Barking  0 – 1  Tilbury      | Mayesbrook Park  |  Att: 68

The Dockers pipped the Blues to claim the points at Mayesbrook. Tom Anderson’s 10th-minute goal was enough to claim the win for Joe Keith’s side.

Basildon Utd  2 – 1  Heybridge Swifts    | Gardiners Close  | Att:

The bees maintained their unbeaten run with a comeback win against Swifts. Joe Gardner [12′] put the visitors ahead though Bees defender Eljay Worrell levelled from the spot with five minutes to go until half-time. Worrelll then struck the winner seven minutes from time.

Sadly for the visitors, Swifts boss Jody Brown stepped down from his role shortly after the match.

Brentwood Town  1 – 1  Coggeshall Town  | Brentwood Arena  | Att: 92

The Blues’ search for a win goes on despite denying Cogg the win at Brentwood Arena. The visitors led through Aaron Condon [70′] though Luke Foster ensured Craig Shipman’s side shared the points with a leveller on 84 minutes.

Canvey Island  0 – 1  Great Wakering Rovers   | Park Lane | Att: 178

Wakering snared the win over local rivals Canvey at Park Lane. Billy Johnson’s solitary goal [16′] did the job for Gary Kimble’s side and gave them bragging rights over the Islanders.

Felixstowe & Walton Utd  1 – 3  Soham Town Rangers  | Dellwood Ave  | Att: 294

Soham got a much sought-after victory at Dellwood Avenue. Alfie Connor put Soham ahead on eight minutes though the hosts restored parity through Jack Ainsley’s spot-kick on 26 minutes. Robbie Mason’s side restored their advantage thanks to Joe Carden’s strike on 57 minutes. Sam Mulready secured the points with five minutes left.

Mildenhall Town 3 – 0  Dereham Town  | Recreation Way  |  Att: 195

The Hall overcame Dereham for the points at Recreation Way. Thomas Debenham’s opener [36′] was quickly added to by Abouhadje Kouassi three minutes later. Emmanuel Osei completed the scoring late on as the hosts had a night to build on.

Witham Town  1 – 2  Bury Town  | Spa Road  | Att: 82

A first-half display assisted Bury to victory at Witham. Kyran Clements [21′] and Ollie Hughes [35′] put the visitors in the driving seat though a penalty from Sam Ashford with 20 minutes to play gave the hosts hope but they could not rescue a point on this occasion.

Bostik League Division North (& South) round-up (BLN 28.4.18)

Hello & welcome to another Bostik North round-up, here on the blog. This weekend saw the last action of the regular season, as the outstanding promotion & relegation places were finally settled, as well as the play-off pictures in both divisions.. As usual, the Bostik South results follow at the end.

 

Saturday 28th April

 

AFC Sudbury  1 – 0 Grays Athletic
| Venue: King’s Marsh | Att: 245

The Suds narrowly defeated Grays to rise to 12th spot in the final standings. Phil Kelly’s strike with 12 minutes left sealed the points and give Sudbury their third win in their last seven matches. Grays’ 5th defeat in six means they finish down in 16th after a ‘damp squib’ end to the season, Jamie Stuart’s side will hope next term brings ‘better times’.

 

Aveley  3 – 1 Mildenhall Town
| Venue: Parkside  | Att: 323

Aveley ended their first season at Parkside will a comfortable win over lowly Mildenhall. The platform was laid in the opening 25 minutes as strikes by Tom Richardson [14′] and Tony Martin [25′] gave the hosts a decent lead, though Jake Chambers-Shaw halved the arrears six minutes later for the Hall. Richardson’s second of the afternoon on the stroke of the interval sealed the points.

The Millers finish the season up in 14th, courtesy of their first win in five matches. Meanwhile, Town’s poor end to the campaign (winless in their last ten matches) means they end up in 22nd, six points clear of the solitary relegation spot.

 

Barking  0 – 3  Potters Bar Town
| Venue: Mayesbrook Park | Att: 142

The Blues were outplayed by Potters Bar who had a jubilant end to their three-way tussle for the second promotion spot. The visitors led through James Budden’s goal just shy of the half-hour and after the break, a double from Eoin Casey [51′ & 77′] secured Potters Bar’s upward trajectory into the Bostik Premier Division at the first time of asking.

Barking ended their first season back in the division in a highly-respectable 10th spot despite three wins in their last eight outings, while the Scholars held on to second spot thanks to a sterling streak of ten wins in their last 14 matches.

 

Bowers & Pitsea  4 – 1 Brentwood Town
| Venue: Len Salmon Stadium | Att: 163

Bowers missed out on automatic promotion despite a good victory at home to struggling Brentwood. Lewis Manor [1′] and Ben Sartain [6′] goals got Rob Small’s side off to flying start before further strikes by Jamie Dicks [17′] and Martyn Stokes [23′] ended the contest really. On-loan midfielder Tom Ranger got one back for the Blues 11 minutes before half-time but it wasn’t enough to stave off Town’s 6th defeat in their last 12 matches, perhaps influenced by their heavy fixture congestion in the last month or two. Bowers finsh 3rd despite 5 wins in their last eight matches and face a home play-off semi-final with Canvey.

 

Bury Town  1 – 2  Haringey Borough
| Venue: Ram Meadow | Att: 425

Haringey went into the play-offs on the back of yet another win. Lauren Luke broke the deadlock just three minutes in for Borough. Hot-shot Cemal Ramadan levelled from the spot four minutes before the break. Ralston Gabriel struck the winner for the visitors midway through the second half to claim Haringey’s eighth straight win and end the regular season unbeaten in 15 matches to finish fourth, just a point off the second promotion berth. Bury’ inconsistent finale means they end the campaign in 9th spot.

 

Canvey Island  2 – 2  Ware
| Venue: Park Lane | Att: 245

Canvey ended the normal 46-game season being held by bottom-six side Ware. Mitchell Gilbey gave CIFC the lead on 25 minutes though the visitors restored parity a minute into the second half thanks to Jordon Watson and led just four minutes afterward

The Islanders finished sixth though recent form hasn’t been the best – six wins in their last 14 matches. Danny Heale’s side face a trip to local rivals Bowers & Pitsea in midweek. Ware end a ambivalent season in 20th after a run of three wins in 11 games. They will look for better next term.

 

Cheshunt  6 – 3  Norwich Utd
| Venue: Theobalds Lane   | Att: 146

The Ambers won an absolutely enthralling contest at Theobalds Lane, which had dire consequences for the Planters. The hosts started strongly as Jason Hallett struck twice [10′ & 28′] either side of a strike by in-form Kyle Roberts [23′]. The Planters, knowing they needed a draw to survive the drop, responded through Adam Hipperson’s spot-kick [36′] and Harry Barker’s goal five minutes later. The visitors levelled as Charlie Hitch found the net nine minutes after the interval. Craig Edwards’ men had a heck of a final say as Ricky Sappleton’s brace [60′ & 81′] and Roberts’ second midway through the half made sure of the hosts’ 5th win in their final 6 to finish up in 18th on 50 points.

Norwich Utd’s 6th loss in the last 11 mean they fell to the bottom on the last day and are relegated to Step 5, most likely the Eastern Counties League.

 

Dereham Town   3 – 2 Hertford Town
| Venue: Aldiss Park  | Att: 102

Dereham edged this one late on to finish the campaign in 8th. Hertford led ten minutes in through on-loan striker Charlie Cole though the hosts powered back courtesy of Matthew Castellan [44′] and Joe Gatting [63′] goals. George Lutaaya levelled once again for ghe visitors with eight minutes left. Substitute Ryan Crisp snatched the winner three minutes later. Hertford’s 7th defeat in 10 means they end in 15th.

 

Heybridge Swifts  2 – 1  Soham Town Rangers
| Venue: Scraley Road | Att: 444

Swifts ended the 46-game term with another victory to see them into the play-offs in good touch. Luke Callander [24′] & Juan Luque [42′] both netted to give Jody Brown’s side a half-time lead. Four minutes after the break, Lewis Clayton scored for Soham who then saw Erkan Okay dismissed with 20 minutes left. Heybridge’s 5th straight victory means they finish 5th and face a trip to Haringey Borough in midweek. Soham finish the season in 13th spot.

 

Romford  4 – 2 Maldon & Tiptree
| Venue: Ship Lane | Att: 105

Romford once again refused to accept ‘fate’ and dragged themselves to safety by virtue of this massive win. It didn’t start well as on-loan striker Lee Barnard [9′] continued his scoring run for Maldon though Paul Martin’s side ‘turned the tables’ thanks to goals from Carlos Djalo Oso [17′], Ayo Olukoga [42′] and Kris Newby [49′]. Barnard struck again with seven minutes left to get the nerves jangling for the Boro faithful. Though Greg Akpele scored with a minute left to finally end the season on a massive high and Ship Lane gave them a ‘parting gift’ of sorts – Step 4 status for next term. Maldon end the season 7th and suffered their fourth straight defeat here, the Jammers may well be ‘in the hunt’ next season.

 

Waltham Abbey  2 – 2 AFC Hornchurch (C)
| Venue: Capershotts | Att: 124

A topsy-turvy matvh ended all-square at Capershotts. Christian Assombalonga broke the stalemate for the champions on the edge of half-time though moments into the 2nd half, Darelle Russell equalised. Russell got his brace nine minutes later though substitute Theo Fairweather-Johnson [85′] snared a point for the Urchins. Abbey end the season with only one win in thrir last 14 matches to sit 19th while Hornchurch end the season unbeaten in eight outings and with the best defence in the division, with 103 points.

 

Witham Town  0 – 2  Tilbury
| Venue: Spa Road | Att: 122

A Harry Norman double [30′ & 82′] meant the Dockers ended the season with their fourth straight win. Witham have had a good season, ending in 11th after five wins in their last nine. Tilbury finish 17th.

Here’s the round-up of this weekend’s action as we entered the last five weeks of this weather-induced chaotic season, followed as usual by a list of the results in Bostik Division South:

 

Friday 20th April

AFC Hornchurch 2 – 1 Aveley
| Venue: Bridge Avenue | Att: 328

The Urchins enjoyed their championship party at Bridge Avenue though only secured the win late on. Connor Hogan put the hosts ahead in the 11th minute. Garrett Kelly levelled for James Webster’s team with 19 minutes remaining which threatened to leave the Urchins fans with a tinge of frustration though record-scorer George Purcell fired home the winner in added-time to secure Hornchurch’s sixth straight win and break the 100-point barrier. Aveley’s 4th loss in their last seven matches sees them stay 16th.

 

Saturday 21st April

Brentwood Town  2 – 1 Romford
| Venue: Brentwood Arena | Att: 126

Brentwood fought hard to banish any slight relegation doubts with the win at the Brentwood Arena. Tony Stokes fired the hosts ahead on four minutes though Carlos Djalo-Oso struck to restore parity for Bro only four minutes after that. Just after the hour mark, Stokes got his and his team’s second to give Town their first win in five matches to go up to 19th spot on goal difference and push Romford close to relegation. Paul Martin’s side are five points adrift of Norwich Utd and simply have to win both of their remaining matches and hope the Planters slip up.

 

Grays Athletic  1 – 4 Heybridge Swifts
| Venue: Parkside | Att: 273

Grays suffered another hefty home defeat, this time at the hands of in-form Heybridge. Swifts led through Joe Gardner on 32 minutes before Luke Callander doubled that advantage eight minutes after the break. Callum Thompson halved the deficit for Ath six minutes afterward. Substitute Matt Price’s late brace [82′ & 87′] secured Heybridge their 6th win in their last eight matches to remain 5th and you wouldn’t envy who has to face them in the end-of-season play-offs either. Grays reside in 15th place after their third straight defeat.

 

Haringey Borough  1 – 0 Witham Town
| Venue: Coles Park  | Att: 221

Haringey narrowly overcame Witham at Coles Park, thanks to Jorge Sambu’s 72nd-minute goal to maintain their terrific form (10th victory in their last 12 matches) and stay 4th with an faint chance of going up automatically IF Potters Bar & Bowers slip up in the next week. Witham sit in 11th spot and are having a decent season.

 

Hertford Town  2 – 4 Barking
| Venue: Hertingfordbury Park | Att: 281

Barking twice came from behind to power past out-of-form Hertford at Hertingfordbury Park. Emmanuel Osei [9′] put Town ahead before Adem Ramadan levelled for Justin Gardner’s side eight minutes later. Daniel Palmer struck mid-way through the first half to edge the hosts ahead. Though again, the Blues restored parity through Billy Jones seven minutes before the interval.

After the break, Alan Taylor [54′] swung the match in the visitors’ favour before Kemo Darboe’s late fourth sealed Barking’s fourth win in their last six outings and one more win will seal a very respectable top-ten finish for them. Hertford’s sixth successive defeat keeps them 14th.

 

Maldon & Tiptree  0 – 2 Cheshunt
| Venue: Park Drive | Att: 154

Cheshunt got the win thanks to a goal in each half to end Maldon’s slim hopes of making the play-offs. Ricky Sappleton [26′] put the Ambers ahead though only sealed the points with six minutes left through Kyle Roberts. Maldon’s recent indifferent form of two wins in their last six means they can only finish 7th at best now. Craig Edwards’ side remain 22nd as one of four sides on 46 points after their fourth consequtive success.

 

Mildenhall Town  1 – 3 Canvey Island
| Venue: Recreation Way  | Att: 182

Canvey finally vanquished any doubts of making the play-offs with this success at lowly Mildenhall. A goal-blitz midway through the half sealed the win for the Islanders. Martin Tuohy opened the scoring on 21 minutes before a brace from Mitchell Gilbey [23′ & 28′] pretty much did the job despite Joshua Curry’s goal back for the Hall a minute into the second half. Town’s season has really gone off-kilter as their winless run extended to nine matches, dropping to 20th place. Canvey’s third win in seven outings confirms 6th spot though getting a bit of form back ahead of the play-offs seems crucial for Danny Heale’s men.

 

Norwich Utd  3 – 1 AFC Sudbury
| Venue: Plantation Park | Att: 132

History may well recall this result being the one that kept the Planters in the division. It started well for the Suds as they led 20 minutes in through Milo Grimes. The Planters roared back into the contest seven minutes after the break thanks to Shaun Wones’ goal. Adam Hipperson’s brace [57′ & pen 71′] ‘turned the tide’ of this match as Utd got their second win on-the-spin and now they only realistically need a single point to send Romford down. Sudbury’s recent inconsistent form means they are in 12th spot.

 

Soham Town Rangers  0 – 2 Bowers & Pitsea
| Venue: Julius Martin Lane | Att: 124

Bowers kept things tight before grabbing a priceless victory late on thanks to substitute Fahad Nyanja’s brace [86′ & 90′]. Bowers have recovered their form after a slight lull and their fourth win in their last six encounters means they realistically need four points from their last two matches to pip Potters Bar to promotion. Soham’s season is faltering away somewhat, though they sit 13th.

 

Tilbury  2 – 0 Dereham Town
| Venue: Chadfields | Att: 67

Tilbury got the points thanks to a double from Siju Odelusi’s brace [7′ & 47′] and in the process rise to 17th place. Dereham are another side that haven’t enjoyed the best of form after their fifth loss in their last seven outings which keeps them 10th.

 

Waltham Abbey  0 – 3 Potters Bar Town
| Venue: Capershotts | Att: 114

Potters Bar continued their relentless pursuit of promotion with an excellent win at struggling Abbey. Michael Murray’s penalty on the stroke of half-time started things off before Jack Bennett’s late brace [81′ & 89′] earned the Scholars their 9th win in 13 matches though have to win their last match to have any realistic hope of promotion. Abbey’s 8th loss in their last 12 outings means they drop to 18th.

Saturday 17th February

AFC Sudbury 1 – 0 AFC Hornchurch
| Venue: King’s Marsh | Att: 315

The Suds narrowly defeated Hornchurch at King’s Marsh. Joe Whight’s spot-kick 16 minutes from time was the difference-maker as the hosts extended their unbeaten run to six matches, they rise one place to 9th spot. The Urchins retained their 13-point cushion at the summit thanks to Bowers’ defeat at Cheshunt as the recent four-match winning run ended here.

 

Barking 3 – 1 Bury Town

Barking continued their play-off charge with a excellent win over mid-table Bury Town. Adem Ramadan broke the deadlock 12 minutes before the interval. Abs Seymour [16′] doubled that advantage before Kemo Darboe, on debut, secured the win with 20 minutes left. Bury nabbed a late consolation through Tommy Robinson though the visitors fell to their 5th loss in their last seven, dropping to 10th spot. Barking’s now four-match unbeaten run sees them retain 8th place, six points outside the play-offs.

 

Canvey Island 2 – 1 Maldon & Tiptree

Canvey lept above the Jammers in the table after a good, battling win over fellow play-off chasing Maldon. James Walker gave the Gulls on eight minutes, before Ryan Charles [45′] gave Danny Heale’s side a two-goal cushion. Cheshunt overcame promotion-seeking Bowers at Theobalds Lane. David Knight [21′] struck to gice Rob Small’s side the lead, though that advantage lasted three minutes before Kyle Roberts levelled for Craig Edwards’ side. The turnaround was complete thanks to Jack Lampe’s winner 13 minutes into the second half. Cheshunt’s second win in their last seven sees them iff the bottom, two points ahead of Romford. Bowers’ second loss in their last seven sees their lead over their rivals cut to six points with Canvey and Potters Bar both having 2 games in hand.

 

Dereham Town 2 – 2 Aveley | Venue: Aldiss Park | Att: 159

Dereham were twice pegged back by the Millers in this encounter at Aldiss Park. Rhys Logan got the opener for the hosts on seven minutes. Alex Stephenson restored parity for James Webster’s side on the half-hour. Sam Borrer [57′] restored the hosts’ lead though Aveley left with a point after Myles Keizer-Burrows’s injury-time leveller. Dereham drop to 5th after their 4th draw in their last seven outings. Aveley stay 19th as their unbeaten run stretched to six matches.

 

Grays Athletic 4 – 1 Witham Town | Venue: Parkside | Att: 192

A double of braces sealed Grays’ first win in five matches. A quick-fire Tommy Wade double [34′ & 37′] was followed by hot-shot Kieran Bishop’s third goal for the hosts two minutes later. Bishop [80′] secured the win with his 2nd before Aidara Moulaye got one back for Town though they fall four places to 17th spot. Grays stay 11th.

 

Hertford Town 0 – 1 Haringey Borough

Haringey Borough narrowly won at mid-table Hertford to keep up their top-six ambitions. Lawrence Yiga struck nine minutes into the second half to give Boro their third win in their last eight games and close to within a point of Maldon in 6th. Hertford drop to 14th following their 3rd loss in their last six.

 

Heybridge Swifts 3 – 1 Brentwood Town | Venue: Scraley Road | Att: 253

Heybridge’s first-half dominance saw them to victory at Scraley Road. Luke Callander’s sixth-minute spot-kick opened the scoring, before Ryan Henshaw [40′] and Harrison Chatting [42′] sealed the win. Luke Foster [83′] got one back for Town who suffered their fourth defeat in their last six, remaining 20th, seven points clear of the relegation place. Swifts rise to 12th after their third straight win.

 

Mildenhall Town 0 – 0 Potters Bar Town | Venue: Recreation Way | Att: 161

The Hall held Potters Bar at Recreation Way. The visitors drop to fourth though have only tasted defeat once in their last eight matches. Mildenhall drop one to 15th spot.

 

Tilbury 2 – 0 Soham Town Rangers

The Dockers secured the points thanks to goals from Kurt Smith [45′] and Jack Carlile [Pen 90′] and in doing so rise to 16th place, following their third win in their last seven games. Soham fall below their opponents here to 18th.

 

Waltham Abbey 3 – 1 Romford
| Venue: Capershotts | Att: 103

Abbey prevailed in this battle of two our-of-form sides at Capershotts. Shad Ngandu was the hero for the hosts with a hat-trick [23′, 25′ & 90′]. Andrew Tirvanhu had earlier got one back for Romford on 34 minutes though Boro slip to the foot of the table, two points below Cheshunt after their seventh straight defeat. Abbey ended their own long winless run here and go up to 13th.

Ware 1 – 3 Norwich Utd
| Venue: Wodson Park | Att: 60

The Planters sealed a big win at Wodson Park to go level on points with Ware & Brentwood. Adam Hipperson once again was the visitors’ hero with a treble [33′, 42′ & (Pen) 64′] before Ahmed Abdullah scored a spot-kick [69′] for the hosts. Ware’s third straight loss sees them trade places with Utd, seven points clear of the bottom. Utd’s first win in five was a timely boost to their chances of survival.

Here’s the round-up, followed as usual by a list of the results in Bostik Division South this weekend:

Saturday 3rd February

 

AFC Sudbury 2 – 0 Waltham Abbey
| Venue: King’s Marsh    | Att: 248

A goal in each half secured another three points for the Suds at King’s Marsh. Phil Kelly broke the deadlock nine minutes before half-time before Billy Holland [83′] secured the points late on. Sudbury’s fourth straight league win means they rise to 9th in the table. Abbey’s fifth defeat in-a-row sees them drop to 13th spot.

 

Aveley  5 – 1  Romford    | Venue: Parkside  | Att: 234

Aveley powered a bit comprehensive win over strugglers Romford at Parkside. First-half goals from Connor Witherspoon [12′] and Alex Teniola [32′] put the Millers in charge. Teniola completed his hat-trick [47′ & 56′] before the hour mark to seal the win. Bryan Kyungu pulled one back 12 minutes from time for Boro’ though substitute Tony Martin added a fifth on 90 minutes. Aveley’s unbeaten run sits at four matches now as they go up to 18th place while Romford have suffered four straight losses and remain second-bottom, just a point ahead of Cheshunt.

 

Bowers & Pitsea 4 – 2  Bury Town
| Venue: Len Salmon Stadium | Att: 73

Bowers secured their fifth win their last six matches despite a late Town comeback at the Len Salmon Stadium. John Easterford gave the hosts a fourth-minute lead before Lewis Manor made it a two a minute into the second-half. Manor secured his brace with 20 minutes remaining before goals from Cemal Ramadan [72′] and Darren Mills [75′] threatened to derail the hosts’ afternoon. Late on, David Knight [90′] made sure of the points to keep Bowers 2nd, top of the chasing pack but 13 points behind leaders Hornchurch. Bury Town’s fourth defeat on-the-trot sees them fall to 11th spot.

 

Canvey Island  1 – 1  Barking
| Venue: Park Lane  | Att: 258

Canvey came back to claim a point against Barking at Park Lane. Another Billy Jones spot-kick [25′] gave Justin Gardner’s side the lead though Frankie Merrifield [53′] levelled, before the same player was dismissed late on for two bookings. CIFC stay 4th, seven points adrift of Bowers in the promotion places while Barking stay 8th, five points off the play-offs.

 

Cheshunt 1 – 1  Witham Town
| Venue: Theobalds Lane   | Att: 132

Witham held the Ambers at Theobalds Lane. The hosts led nine minutes after the re-start through Jason Hallett though Town’s Correy Davidson [74′] restored parity to make it two defeats from their last eight for Adam Flint’s men, who go up to 12th spot. Cheshunt remain bottom after one win in their last ten matches now.

 

Dereham Town  2 – 1  Heybridge Swifts
| Venue: Aldiss Park  | Att: 152

Heybridge’s winless stretch continued as they fell to defeat at play-off chasing Dereham. Goals from Rhys Logan [37′] & Matthew Castellan [70′] put the hosts in command before Joe Gardner reduced the arrears five minutes later. Dereham remain 5th after their 3rd win in their last six outings. Swifts drop to 19th as their winless run extends to seven matches.

 

Haringey Borough  1 – 0  Brentwood Town
| Venue: Coles Park  | Att: 135

Haringey edged struggling Brentwood at Coles Park. Michael Ademiluyi’s 19th-minute goal was enough to secure Borough’s second win in their last five matches, they stay 7th, a point off the play-off’s. Town’s winless run sits at four matches as they remain 21st, five points off the bottom.

 

Hertford Town  0 – 3  AFC Hornchurch
| Venue: Hertingfordbury Park  | Att: 251

The Urchins overcame mid-table Hertford to maintain their lengthy gap at the summit. A brace from Theo Fairweather-Johnson [8′ & 42′] and a George Purcell penalty with 20 minutes left secured the leaders’ sixth win in their last eight matches. Hertford’s third match without a win sees them remain 14th.

 

Maldon & Tiptree  3 – 1   Soham Town Rangers
| Venue: Park Drive  | Att: 82

Maldon secured a good victory over mid-table Soham at Park Drive. The Jammers led 16 minutes in through Kieran Bailey’s opener before Lee Chaffey [65′] levelled for the visitors. This spurred Kevin Horlock’s side on as Oluwole Akinsanya [69′] struck to give the hosts the lead once again before Rhys Henry added a third on the cusp of full-time. Maldon remain 6th despite their mixed form of late. Soham’s first loss in four matches sees them slide to 17th spot.

 

Mildenhall Town  2 -1  Grays Athletic

A first-half double-salvo ensured the points for the ‘Hall at Recreation Way with Matthew Green [21′] & Jake Chambers-Shaw [27′] supplying that lead. Grays clinched a late consolation through James Folkes eight minutes from time though Ath have now only won one out of their last six outings & drop to 10th spot. Mildenhall’s 3rd win in their last five matches sees them up to 15th spot.

 

Norwich Utd  0 – 1   Potters Bar Town

In-form Potters Bar claimed a narrow win at Plantation Park as a Eoin Casey goal on 13 minutes was enough to give the Scholars their fifth win in their last seven matches and open up a three-point lead over Canvey in 4th spot. The Planters’ indifferent form continues as they remain 22nd, five points clear of the solitary relegation spot.

 

Tilbury  2 – 1  Ware   | Venue: Chadfields    | Att: 85

Tilbury trimuphed over tan-man Ware at Chadfields. Siju Odelusi’s 25th-minure strike gave the Dockers the lead before Harley Haag [36′] levelled for John Dreyer’s side. Three minutes after the break, hot-shot Toby Aromolaran grabbed the winner to give the hosts only their second win in their last eight matches. Ware’s Acea Laurent was dismissed with 16 minutes remaining as they suffered their first defeat in four outings. Tilbury rise to 16th while Ware remain 20th.
