Hello & welcome to another edition of the Essex Olympian League round-up. This week, we look at the action in all divisions & Cups from Saturday 4 February, as the weekend’s action in all six divisions was bolstered by Cup ties.

EOFL Premier Division

In the top-tier, Hutton continue to bolster their chances of the Premier title & promotion, as they defeated Toby 2 – 0 at Chadfields. Stephen Judge & substitute Kyle Linzell goals were enough to see the Reds to 40 points in just 14 matches. Old Southendian are up to second spot after a 3 – 0 win at Leigh Ramblers, securing their third straight League win. Catholic Utd are up third place after securing a comeback 3 – 1 victory over Runwell Sports at the Len Forge. Gianni Frankis’ goal had put Runwell ahead but strikes from Liam Oliver, Aaron Baldwin (on his 100th appearance for the club) & Tom Elliott sealled the win, ahead of a very hectic last three months of the campaign (which sees them still have 15 league games left, starting with a trip Old Southendian in midweek). Shenfield AFC’s decent season continues after they defeated Canning Town 1 – 0 at St Martins 3G. Sam Lock got the only goal there to send them up to eighth spot, while Galleywood battled to a 1 – 1 draw at Kelvedon Hatch. Freddie Bartram got the ‘Wood goal, with Charlie Nichols replying for Darren Hunt’s team. Galleywood still need at least two wins from their upcoming games to draw other teams into the relegation battle.

EOFL Divisions One & Two

Division One saw some potentially big results. First, a mention for strugglers Wakering Sports who battled to their maiden victory this term, as they defeated Manford Way 1- 0, with Nathan Roche scoring the only goal there. Epping Town held promotion rivals Harold Wood Athletic 1 – 1 at home, with Joe Rickett netting for Town & Ben Woolven doing so for Ath, who remain four points clear at the top. Beacon Hill Rovers got an important 2 – 0 success over Corinthians, which sends Hill up to 8th, and dampens the Stambridge-based side’s promotion aspirations, as they stay fourth. Finally, Herongate Athletic are only two points adrift of fourth spot, following a 3 – 0 win at home to Harold Hill. Alfie Yeend, Thomas Lambourne & George Godfrey goals made the most of their chances & notch a fine three points.

Into Division Two, Wakering Sports Res reduced the deficit to leaders Shoebury to four points after a 5 – 2 triumph at Rayleigh Town Res. Substitute Ciaran Sweeney netted twice, with Connor Fardyga, Charlie Smith & Steven Valente also on target for the enterprising Sports side. May & Baker are up to third after a fine 5 – 0 win at AS Rawreth, with Alfie Horan & Kane Messenger notching doubles each, with Jack O’Connor’s fine strike confirming the points. Hutton Res got a battling 1 – 0 victory at Hashtag Utd Development, with Jack Greenwood’s goal enough to push them up to ninth place, a point clear of the bottom two. Lastly, Old Southendian Res drew 1 – 1 with Catholic Utd Res. Both teams are some way off the top six, following that result.

EOFL Divisions Three, Four & Five

Moving now to Division Three, the top two were not in action but Buckhurst Hill U23 gained ground on them with a superb 7 – 1 success over Corinthians Res at Roding Lane. Ayomide Ademokun netted a treble, with Harvey Woods adding a brace, plus Jacob Richards & replacement Bailey Allen also netted for Darren Gosnell’s side, who are well-set in third. Pitsea Athletic are only a point below them in fourth after they defeated Chingford Athletic Res 5 – 0. Both of these teams have the most matches to play in the division remaining, at eight each.

In Division Four, Roydon put themselves back in pole position for the title with a 2 – 1 victory over rivals Collier Row. Connor Presland & Ross Bourke both scored for the hosts who went a point clear at the summit, with three matches in hand on nearest rivals Row. Leigh Ramblers Res are also in the promotion shake-up after a fine 4 – 0 win at Shenfield AFC Res. Jacob Meads netted twice for the Rams, with Dominic North & substitute Taylor Stewart also on target at Warley Fields in a win which keeps them third. Bishop’s Stortford Swifts Res had a real battle before coming away with a 4 – 3 victory at Galleywood Res. The hosts got goals through Ebenezer Fasoranti, Aryan Tathgar and Ashley Merritt but they were outdone by Matthew Allen’s brace for Swifts, compiled with strikes from Archie Gerard & Jordan Trott to give the visitors another three points and they remain fourth.

Lastly in this division, a big day for Leytonstone Utd as they notched their first win of a tough campaign, winning 3 – 2 against Ongar Town at Forest Row. The trio of James Medlock, Billy Wallace & George Welsh got the crucial Leytonstone goals. Ongar got goals from Jude Collins, and replacement James McLean but it wasn’t enough to prevent Utd from finally savouring a win – they are only four points behind Wakering Sports A & Galleywood Res directly above them.

In Division Five, Basildon Town A edged to a 3 – 2 victory over Collier Row Res at Basildon Sports Club. Donnel Kujinga netted yet another double to further endorse his good season, while Alex Smith got the other goal, the win takes them up to fourth place. Also, Runwell Sports Res are into second place after a resounding 8 – 0 victory at home to AS Rawreth Res.

Cups

We start the Cup action with mentions of the two Senior Cup games. First, Sungate ended Rayleigh Town’s run in the competition as the ‘Gate had a Arif Mustapha goal to thank in their 1 – 0 win. Also, Bishop’s Stortford Swifts were given a stern test before coming through 4 – 3 on spot-kicks, after a 0 – 0 draw at Silver Leys, In the Denny King Cup, ACD Utd progressed with a narrow 1 – 0 victory over Basildon Town Res, with Jamie Alexandrou getting the only goal there.

Moving on into the Reserve Cup, and Herongate Athletic Res triumphed with a 5 – 1 win at Springfield Res. Kemston Allen got a super treble, added to very well by Habeeb Apatira’s double to see the visitors through. Finally, in the Reserve Trophy, Old Chelmsfordians Res progressed with a 3 – 0 victory at home to Pitsea Athletic Res and Harold Wood Athletic Res sailed through with a 4 – 1 success at Wakering Sports A. Max London netted twice for Wood, with Thomas Butler & Kieron Moynihan also on target for them. Carl Sutton replied for Wakering, but their attention focuses now on remaining in Division Four.

EOFL Premier Division, Divisions One & Two

In the Premier Division, Basildon Town gained ground on leaders Ongar Town (who were not in action this weekend) by claiming a narrow 2 – 1 victory at Sungate, with Rhys Fatt grabbing both goals for Marcus Bowers’ team. They are four points behind Ongar with two matches in hand. Rayleigh Town were held 1 – 1 by battling Leigh Ramblers at Belfairs, with Ryan Lowe netting for the Rams, and George Vile equalised from twelve yards for Town. Rayleigh remain second, but are three points adrift of the leaders, while the Rams rise one place to twelfth, but are one of four sides still in relegation danger. Another match with ramifications at both ends of the table saw Hutton emerge with a 4 – 1 triumph at Harold Wood Athletic, in another game played at Robert Clack 3G. Luke Ricketts struck twice for Matt Singh’s side, with James Gardner and replacement Abraham Eze also on target as they stayed fourth but in the title hunt with matches in hand. Harold Wood remain bottom, six points adrift of the third-bottom Galleywood.

Elsewhere, Old Southendian won their local derby with Catholic Utd 3 – 2, with Callum Ludlaim scoring two goals at Garon Park 3G, and Nick Henesy also netting as they went up to seventh spot with six matches remaining. Utd got their goals via Jack Thompson and player-boss Simon Thomas and stay ahead of their opponents by goal difference only, in sixth. Also, Springfield drew 2 – 2 with Canning Town in the early kick-off at Arun Park. Ryan Kelland and Reece Simpson scored for the hosts but Canning responded to claim a precious point and stay in touch with their rivals. Finally, Bishop’s Stortford Swifts drew 0 – 0 with Kelvedon Hatch, which means Swifts stay tenth and Kelvedon remain in fifth, twelve points clear of Catholic Utd and Old Southendian.

In Division One, the solitary match saw Toby grab a 3 – 0 win against strugglers Leigh Town in Newbury Park. The trio of Harry Barham, Albert Perry and Ben Picton all netted again for Mark Jones’ side to ensure the win which means a point in their last game next month will ensure a top-two finish, but a win would give them the title.

Moving into Division Two now, and ACD Utd took a big step towards the title after a narrow 1 – 0 win against May & Baker A at Westlands. Michael Wade’s 23rd league goal this term ensured the win which takes them five points clear at the summit, needing only five points to mathematically seal the league championship. That was because Harold Hill were held 3 – 3 at Shoebury Town. Player manager Garry Johnson, Kyle McAlindon and Cassidy Day all scored for Shoebury who rose to fifth with this decent result. AS Rawreth also got a vital win to aid their battle against relegation as they won 3 – 2 at home to Wakebury. Harry Kateley and Shaun Lewis-Evans replied for the Berries but their chances of a top-two finish took a dent here. Rawreth climb one spot to second-bottom after this victory.

Finally, Hutton Res were held 2 – 2 by Harold Wood Athletic Res at Polo Fields. Josh Portway got both strikes for the visitors there, who will probably be safe provided they grab one more win in their last three matches. The Hutton side will need as many points as possible as Rawreth behind them have an extra match left to play.

EOFL Divisions Three, Four & Five

Into Division Three, and Wakering Sports Res have moved right into contention for a top-two finish after a brilliant 6 – 2 victory at leaders Catholic Utd Res. Scott Clark took his season’s goal tally to fourteen with a double here, with Ashley Sexton also netting two along with one goal each for the division’s top-scorer Connor Fardyga and Ciaran Sweeney. Daniel Williams got both goals for Utd’s second side as they will likely need to win their last three games to stay in contention. Third-placed Hashtag Utd Dev were held 3 – 3 at a spirited Basildon Town Res. Jack Main got two goals for Bas, with Nathan Fisher also on the score-sheet. Matthew Gauci, Tommy Green and Samuel Pratt’s 16th league goal this term meant that Denis Simpson’s side claimed a point which importantly keeps them only two points away from the top two and have one game in hand on both of them. Town will finish fourth after playing their last league game here and have a 12-point lead on their nearest challengers Pitsea Athletic.

Speaking of the newcomers, Buckhurst Hill U23 continued their fine form by defeating Pitsea Athletic 3 – 1 at Roding Lane, which meant Darren Gosnell’s side rise up to sixth spot, with three matches left to play. Also, Collier Row ended their campaign with a fine 2 – 1 win at Leigh Town Res. Despite this result, they will finish in the bottom two and will likely face relegation.

Now into Division Four, and Chingford Athletic Res sealed the title (for all intents & purposes) in style with a 7 – 2 win at nearest challengers Roydon. Nader Benzid and substitute Jack Bayley-Etheridge got the goals for Roydon here. The Ath second-side will be in Division Three next term and Springfield Res might yet join them there after a 5 – 2 triumph over Canning Town Res in the late kick-off meant they went level on points with Roydon but stay third. The ensemble cast of scorers included Liam England, Jordan Denyer, William Roe, substitute Reece Simpson and fellow replacement Thomas Bloomfield. The Town side look set for a demotion as they will be unable to avoid finishing bottom.

Elsewhere, Leytonstone Utd had a James Medlock goal to thank for a 1 – 0 success at home to Galleywood Res. The result means they have a decent chance of avoiding a bottom two finish but their rivals have matches in hand. Also, Ongar Town Res defeated Wakering Sports A 2 – 1 to go up to fourth in the table.

In the sixth tier, the season is rapidly approaching its conclusion, and leaders Leigh Ramblers Res ended their campaign with a narrow 1 – 0 victory at Runwell Sports Res. Alex Goodson’s seventh league goal gave them the win which for now keeps them at the summit, although they could yet be overhauled. One of those sides in prime position to do that is Bishop’s Stortford Swifts Res, who won 3 – 0 at Wakebury Res. Callum Blair Park, Henry Harnack and Lewis Wake got the goals here which means one more win for the Swifts second-side will secure them the Division Five title. The Wakebury side will finish bottom as they completed their campaign here and after the game, Reece Upcraft stood down from his role as Wakebury Res boss, I’d like to wish him well for the future, he will be replaced next season by Joe Creak (Source: Wakebury’s Twitter).

Elsewhere, Herongate Athletic Res got a terrific 7 – 2 win against Collier Row Res at Billericay Road. Lee Glynn scored twice here, with the array of other scorers being Jack Sparrow, Kurt Smith, Thomas Northwood, Jonathan Packer and substitute Benjamin Clarke. Ath went up to fourth spot with this win and still have a chance of a top-three finish as they have three matches left. Emmanuel Akinte and Mark Lee scored for the Row side here. Also, Snaresbrook Res defeated AS Rawreth Res 5 – 0 at Nutters Lane to go up to sixth in the standings, while Epping Town Res got a walkover win against Old Barkabbeyans, meaning they will finish ninth as this was their last game of the term as well.

Hello all and welcome to my round-up of the action in the Essex Olympian League, on Saturday 5 March. This weekend saw a large number of postponements, unsurpriningly down to the miserable weather Essex has had this week. As ever, there was a number of competitions being played (the EOFL Senior Cup, Reserve League Cup, Ressie Trophy, Denny King Memorial Cup & Essex Premier Cup), our focus remains on the League action. This week, EOFL clubs were grateful for the virtue of artificial pitches with several matches moved, We have action from the top three tiers, plus we have sections on Essex Premier Cup & Division Five.

Essex Olympian Lge – Saturday 5 March

EOFL Premier Division, Divisions One & Two

In the top-tier, all three games that got played were on artificial pitches. At Garon Park, Basildon Town got a fine 5 – 2 win over Old Southendian. Rhys Fatt and Graham Harrison both scored two goals each and Ryan Scougall also netted for Marcus Bowers’ side, who went up to fourth spot – four points adrift of leaders Ongar with three matches in hand. OS got their goals from Mitchell Ali and Jack Lelliott, but this loss meant they dropped one place to ninth.

Both of the other games were rare goalless draws for this division. Hutton were held 0 – 0 by Kelvedon Hatch in a match moved to Hannakins Farm Community Centre 3G. Hutton fell to fifth but still have two games more to play than the leaders to catch up the four point deficit. Shenfield AFC were also held 0 – 0 by Bishop’s Stortford Swifts, which saw AFC move up to eighth while Swifts are five points clear in eleventh.

Division One saw just the one match irrespective of the weather, as Beacon Hill Rovers climbed out of the bottom two with a 2 – 1 triumph over Herongate Athletic. Lee Henry netted for Herongate in what was their final league game of the campaign, their rivals in Rovers, Leigh Town and Snaresbrook all have four games to overhaul their tally of 17 points, which does make Herongate vulnerable to demotion.

There was two matches this week in Division Two. ACD Utd extended their lead at the summit to six points with a comfortable 3 – 0 victory at May & Baker A. Michael Wade’s 22nd league goal of the season allied with strikes by Warren Taylor and Ollie Williams meant they left Dagenham with the win. Greg Knock’s side know they need a maximum of ten points from their remaining four matches to confirm the Division Two title. Also, in a match reversed to Rochford Recreation Ground, Manford Way had to work hard to grab a 2 – 0 victory against Rochford Town in the match I saw this weekend. Harry Davison and Salum Said got the goals to seal the win that keeps Manford in the hunt for a top-three finish at least. EOFL Senior League Cup – Canning Town 2 – 2 Epping Town (Canning won 4 – 3 on penalties)

Essex Premier Cup – Semi-Finals

In what features a crossover with the Essex Alliance League, we now know who will contest the Final of the EPC on April 13th. There was guaranteed to be an Olympian League representative and Catholic Utd emerged with a hard-fought 2 – 1 victory at Sungate. Strikes by Harrison Day and Jay Nash meant that Simon Thomas’ team will make it to the Premier Cup Final once again. Their opponents will be EAL Senior Division side Woodford East, who got an impressive 3 – 1 win at Clapton CFC. It is right to respect also what has been a superb run to the last four for CFC, but a James Briggs penalty wasn’t enough to get the Middlesex County Premier Division side back into the contest. The Final will be played at Billericay Town’s New Lodge, it should be a fascinating match. Congrats to both finalists.

In Division Five, Old Barkabbeyans are chasing a top-five finish now after a 3 – 1 victory at home to AS Rawreth Res. Lucas Winzar netted for Rawreth, but strikes by Jay Elliott, Jordan Mullings and Sean Doyle ensured Old Barks gained ground on the sides above them, with three matches remaining.

EOFL Reserve League Cup

Finally, in the Ressie League Cup, Wakering Sports Res went through after a 4 – 1 home win over Rayleigh Town Res at Cupid’s. The ensemble cast of Connor Fardyga, Scott Clark, Ciaran Sweeney and Charlie Smith all netted for the Sports second-side.

Hello all and welcome to my round-up of the action in the Essex Olympian League, on Saturday 29 January. This week, the league action takes the central focus, with a number of matches also in several Cup competitions. This week’s round-up includes a section looking at EOFL Division Four, in addition to the top four tiers of league action & Results in the Cups.

Essex Olympian League Round-up – Saturday 29 January

EOFL Premier Division & Division One

In the top-tier, Shenfield AFC got another important victory as they won 2 – 1 at Galleywood. Charlie Heatley and Luke Williamson strikes were enough to give AFC the win which means they are ten points clear of the bottom two. Jamie Lockwood got a goal back for Galleywood though they still need points to move away from the bottom three. Leigh Ramblers also managed a vital victory, defeating Bishop’s Stortford Swifts 3 – 1 at Belfairs Park. Harry Bovington’s goal wasn’t enough to gain a point for Swifts, as the Rams rose one place to 12th.

At the summit, Hutton went into second spot with a fine 3 – 0 win at Old Southendian. Brad Freeman’s double and Tom Stephens’ goal was enough to keep Matt Singh’s side well in the title hunt. Meanwhile, Ongar Town lost ground as they were held 0 – 0 by an improving Springfield side at Lakeside Sports Ground. Richard Ponsford’s team are in fourth spot, three points adrift of leaders Basildon Town. Kelvedon Hatch are also moving into contention for a top four finish after a 2 – 0 triumph against Canning Town at New Hall. Joseph Newson and substitute Drew Klessa-Smith got the goals for Darren Hunt’s team as they moved seven points clear in fifth spot.

In Division One, leaders Runwell Sports took a big stride towards promotion with an important 5 – 1 win over Herongate Athletic at St Luke’s Park. Jimmy Cox and Charlie Little both netted doubles for Rob Hodgson’s side, with Gianni Frankis’ goal competing the scoring. George Doyle got the only goal for Herongate here but the win for Runwell means they lead by six points putting the onus on the chasing pack who do all have games in hand. Toby moved into second spot after a narrow 1 – 0 success at Leigh Town. Luis Ruiz got the only goal there, and Town need a couple of wins to avoid getting drawn into the bottom two.

Beacon Hill Rovers got a much-needed victory also, as they triumphed 3 – 1 at rivals Epping Town. Callum Turner got the only goal for Epping but they are in a similar position to Leigh with four teams in that battle to stay in the division. Also, Old Chelmsfordians defeated Chingford Athletic 2 – 0 at Town Mead to put themselves in a good position as one of five teams that could challenge the leaders for promotion.

EOFL Divisions Two & Three

Into the League action with the four games played in Division Two, and ACD Utd were held to a 3 – 3 draw at Westlands by improving Rayleigh Town Res. Even a brace from Michael Wade and one from Jacob Dingli was not enough to claim the points for Greg Knock’s side Wakebury are right there in the promotion running now after a 2 – 1 success at Shoebury Town. Harry Kateley netted both strikes for Matt Cardy’s side, which sees them strengthen their position in third & are four points behind leaders ACD Utd.

Hutton Res were also held at home, as they drew 3 – 3 with Old Southendian Res at Polo Fields. Thomas Adams, Oliver Tatton-Bennett and replacement Harry DaCosta all netted for Josh Bambury’s team as they maintained fourth spot but their advantage over their rivals is slim. Finally. Harold Wood Athletic Res edged an outstanding game to win 5 – 4 over Rochford Town at Robert Clack Sch 3G. Billy Spencer netted twice for the hosts, with Ben Rowe, Thomas Butler and Josh Portway all also on target for Steve Hubbard’s side. Rochford responded through a four-goal haul for club stalwart Freddie Pettitt but the Wood second-side go three points clear of Town after this win.

In Division Three, Pitsea Athletic went three points clear in fifth spot after a 2 – 1 triumph at Collier Row. Kwadwo Asante and Sean Devlin got the goals which meant Pitsea got their seventh win this term, while Row remain second bottom. Catholic Utd Res extended their lead to six points after a 6 – 1 victory over Buckhurst Hill U23 at St Thomas More Sch.

Meanwhile, Basildon Town Res look set for a top four finish after a 5 – 1 victory at Corinthians Res. Matthew Keiller got two goals here for Town, with Rhys Willson, Nicholas Bowers and Sam Marsh also netting to overpower a solitary goal for substitute Jacob Hudson for the Corinthians Ressie side. Town are ten points clear of Pitsea with both having only four league games left. Finally in this division, Wakering Sports Res maintained their chance of promotion with a 7 – 0 success over Hullbridge Sports Res at Cupid’s. Connor Fardyga netted another fine treble to pass 20 league goals this term, with Scott Clark notching twice and Ciaran Sweeney also on target.

In Division Four, Roydon got another fine win as they defeated Wakering Sports A 3 – 0 at home. Nader Benzid, Connor Riddoch and Connor Presland all were on the score-sheet as Roydon continue their aspiration to get promoted once again. Also, Shenfield AFC Res got a 3 – 1 triumph at Springfield Res, with Billy Calder netting twice and there was also a goal for Ben Cawood. Finally, Leytonstone Utd won 2 – 1 at Southend Manor Development, with Jack Mead notching the consolation goal for the Manor reserve side.

Division Five Results

Hello all and welcome to my round-up of the action in the Essex Olympian League, on Saturday 4 December. This week, the league action returned on a bigger scale this weekend.. Also includes results from Cup ties involving EOFL sides and a partial round-up from Divisions Four & Five.

Essex Olympian League Round-up – Saturday 4 December

EOFL Premier Division

In what was another big day of action in the Premier Division, Basildon Town retained their four-point lead at the summit with a 3 – 0 success over Springfield. Graham Harrison scored another two goals here for Marcus Bowers’ side, with substitute Antony Aylett also netting to complete the win. Ongar Town remain second after a 4 – 0 victory against Canning Town at Lakeside Sports Ground 3G. Joe Lilly, Rodney Wilson, Kane Adams and replacement Jack Zielinski all scored for Richard Ponsford’s side here.

Elsewhere, Hutton also are still in the chasing pack in third after a hard-fought 2 – 1 win over Leigh Ramblers at Polo Fields. Stephen Judge and George Ezekiel both scored for Matt Singh’s side who remain two points clear of Rayleigh Town in fourth. Town completed a memorable 7 – 0 win at Old Southendian with Harry Talbot netting four goals alone to take him to eleven league goals this term. Liam Oliver also scored a fine treble to go joint-top of the goal-scoring charts with twelve goals in the league thus far. OS remain eighth.

Also, Kelvedon Hatch went up to sixth place after a 3 – 2 success against Galleywood at New Hall. Joseph Newson, Wayne Semanshia and James Burt were all on the score-sheet for Darren Hunt’s team, to outdo strikes by Thomas Watling and Freddie Bartram for ‘Wood, who stay in 1th. Sungate are up to fifth after they won 3 – 2 at home to Shenfield AFC, with Ben Carroll scoring both goals for AFC in their valiant effort there.

In the match I saw this weekend, Harold Wood Athletic got only their second win of the season as they emerged with a 3 – 1 victory at Catholic Utd at the Len Forge. Half-time substitute Freddy Shepherd, James Pottle and Billy Reed all netted for Gary Willis’ side, with Harley Kee’s penalty little consolation for the Super Hoops as they fell to seventh place – eight points adrift of the top three. S21-22 Match Report: Catholic Utd 1 – 3 Harold Wood Athletic (Sat 4 Dec) [EOFL 21/22 5.12.21]

EOFL Division One

In the second-tier, Chingford Athletic went into the top five after a resounding 5 – 1 win at Snaresbrook. Jed Arthur scored twice for Declan Murphy’s team, with Scout Bown, Eren Muti and Valter Simao all also on target on a fine day for Chingford. Toby are also well in-form after a 2 – 1 success at home to Herongate Athletic. Ben Picton and Marc Porter-Brown both netted for Mark Jones’ side who sit third, just a point adrift of the leaders with matches in hand as well. One other note on Herongate to mention, which is that manager Billy Cove and his coaching staff have all departed the club, I’d like to wish them well for the future.

In other results, Old Chelmsfordians are up to fourth spot after a battling 3 – 2 victory at Epping Town. Joe Rickett and Conor Corrigan goals for Town were not enough to stop OC’s from picking up another victory. Finally, Runwell Sports went to the summit on goal difference after a 4 – 1 triumph over Leigh Town at St Luke’s Park.

EOFL Division Two

In Division Two, there was just two matches that took place due to the weather starting to have its wintery impact on the season. ACD Utd won’t mind too much though as they got another handsome win, as they defeated Hutton Res 9 – 2 at Westlands to go top of the table on goal difference. Jacob Dingli and Michael Wade both got four goals here for Greg Knock’s team, with Shaun Goddard also on target as his side reached sixth goals scored in just thirteen games. That’s some goal-scoring feat.

Elsewhere, Manford Way edged to a 2 – 1 victory at Shoebury Town to rise up to fifth spot. Kemari Hypolite and Charlie Parish got the goals for Manford, with Kirk Hudson responding for Shoebury. One match which wasn’t contested saw Rayleigh Town Res get a home walkover against May & Baker A.

EOFL Division Three

In Division Three, and with leaders Catholic Utd Res not in action this week, nearest challengers Hashtag Utd Development sought to gain ground and crikey, did they do that. They emerged with a comprehensive 17 – 1 triumph over Toby Res at Barleylands. Samuel Pratt led the huge list of goal-scorers for Denis Simpson’s team with six goals here himself, and reach 15 league goals this term. Tony Stevens also netted a treble, with Matthew Gauci, Jake Smith and Chandler Wray all notching doubles here for the Tags’ youth side, with Alex Warren and Jay Knight completing the score-sheet. Meanwhile, Basildon Town Res remain seven points clear in fourth place after a 4 – 2 success at Leigh Town Res. Louis Hill netted a brace here for the Basildon side, with Rhys Willson and Scott Cooper also finding the net for the visitors.

Pitsea Athletic went up to fifth spot after a 3 – 1 triumph at home to Buckhurst Hill U23. Sean Devlin netted twice and there was a goal for Jason Stanhope for Pitsea at Basildon Sporting Village. There was also a win for Hulbridge Sports Res as they won 3 – 1 against Collier Row at Lower Road. Michael Clark, Jake Frost and Henry Hands got the goals as Sports ended a three-match losing run.

EOFL Divisions Four & Five Round-up

In an extended round-up this week, we move into Division Four. Leaders Chingford Athletic Res kept their four-point lead as they powered to a 7 – 1 victory over Shenfield AFC Res at Town Mead. Southend Manor Dev are second after a good 3 – 1 success at Ongar Town Res, with Jack Mead scoring twice and there one for Harry Lincoln as well. Roydon are up to fourth after a fine 4 – 2 win at Galleywood Res. Connor Riddoch, Connor Presland, Karim Francis and Halcyon Griffith all netted for Roydon to overcome strikes by substitute Lee Judd & an OG to secure the win at Slades Lane.

Meanwhile, Old Chelmsfordians Res are nine points clear in eighth after a 3 – 2 win over strugglers Canning Town Res at Lawford Lane. Timothy King, Lee Mulholland and replacement Henry Field all scored for the OC second side there. The other result in this division was Leytonstone Utd’s 3 – 0 win over bottom side Sungate Dev. Utd rise one place to ninth after this win.

Finally this week, in Division Five there was a surprise loss for leaders Leigh Ramblers Res as they lost 5 – 3 at home to mid-table Snaresbrook Res. Charlie Batchelor’s double and a goal for Kai Baker for the Rams was outdone by a four-goal haul for Rajpal Bumbra and one from Liam Adams for the visitors at Belfairs Park.

S20-21 Round-up’s: Essex Olympian League (Week 10 – Sat 5 Dec) [EOFL 20-21 6.12.20]

Hello and welcome to the return of the Essex Olympian League round-up, here on my blog, looking at the action from Saturday 5th December from the Premier Division all the way to Division Three this week, also including results from Senior Four & Five. EOFL Premier Division

We start our round-up in the Premier Division as ever, and in-form Hutton got their fourth straight win with a 2 – 0 win at joint-leaders Basildon Town. Matt Singh’s side had Will Marlowe and replacement Sean O’Callaghan to thank for the goals which sent player-boss Marcus Bowers’ team to their first loss of the league campaign. With Buckhurst Hill’s game at Rayleigh Town postponed due to standing water on the London Road surface, Catholic Utd lead the chasing pack in third spot after a superb 6 – 0 drubbing of Springfield at the Len Forge. Brad Rowland struck two goals to take his tally to five in the league this term. Rhys Fatt also struck before the interval and the points for Stuart Marshall’s side were confirmed thanks to Aaron Baldwin’s spot-kick plus goals for Thomas Kearney and Simon Thomas. Springfield drop to ninth place as there two big wins for sides previously below them in the table.

Harold Wood Athletic were one of those sides, and went up to seventh after a good 2 – 1 triumph at Canning Town. Chris Denham and Robert Whitnell strikes saw Alex Goldstone’s side to their third win this term. Bishop’s Stortford Swifts also got a vital win, defeating Old Southendian 3 – 0 at Silver Leys. Recent signing Wale Odedoyin grabbed two goals in this game, with Carlos Flood securing the win for Billy Cove’s side who rise to eighth spot.

There was a sobering end to the match at New Hall, as Kelvedon Hatch’s match with Sungate was abandoned after twenty minutes due to serious injury. I’d like to send best wishes to the player concerned. Finally in this division, Leigh Ramblers made it five wins in their last six matches with a comfortable 2 – 0 win over Shenfield AFC, with centre-back Harry Haysom notching another two goals to take his tally to five goals this season.

EOFL Division One

In Division One, the runaway juggernaut that is Ongar Town were held for only the second time this term, as they drew 1 – 1 at Old Chelmsfordians. Richard Ponsford’s side are still three points clear at the summit though and their unbeaten run remains intact. The OC’s remain in fourth spot. Runwell Sports, buoyed by being awarded three points during the enforced break after Snaresbrook were deemed to have fielded an ineligible player in the latter side’s win in October, could not take further strikes towards the top as Runwell lost 3 – 0 at new-look Manford Way. Tyrone Scarlett got a pair of goals here, with David Leech also on the score-sheet for Trevor Grace’s side who go up to fifth spot, three points adrift of the top three.

In third place now is Galleywood, after their fine 3 – 1 win at Chingford Athletic. Thomas Watling, Jamie Ricks and replacement Luke Osborne all netted to render Lee Lashley’s goal for Chingford a consolation. The Town Mead side are five matches without a win now and fell to second-bottom after Rayleigh Town Res won 2 – 1 at basement side Shoebury Town. Kalvin Armstrong and George Vile goals assisted Dave Gipp’s side to only their second league win this term. Finally, Ramsden Scotia won 2 – 0 at Toby in the early kick-off of the day to make their way up to sixth in the latest table.

EOFL Division Two

Moving into Division Two now, and there were big moves in the table from this weekend’s four matches. First up, table-toppers Beacon Hill Rovers grabbed a superb 4 – 1 away win over Old Southendian Res at Garon Park. Henry Ballard struck twice here for the mid-Essex side, with Lewis Sherwood and Ben Jackman also on the score-sheet for a Rovers side that remain four points clear at the summit. Leigh Town also got back to winning ways with a 3 – 0 success at Wakering Sports in Shoebury. Lewis Lawrence, Max Jones and Jack Bruce all struck to put Jack Pearman’s side back up to second place, four points shy of the leaders but with two games in hand for Leigh, the only unbeaten side left in the division.

Elsewhere, Laindon Orient got a huge 1 – 0 win away at previously unbeaten Corinthians, with Matthew Gibson getting the only goal before half-time. Neil Blackburn & Rob Neville’s side went above their opponents here into third spot, though the Stambridge side (like Leigh Town) do have two games extra to play in comparison to Laindon & Beacon Hill. Epping Town moved up to fifth with a comprehensive 6 – 1 triumph at home to Rochford Town with Joe Rickett notching two goals here. The supporting cast of Spike Bell, Callum Turner, David Limber and Graeme Turner added to a great afternoon for Stuart Hoskins’ side.

EOFL Division Three

In Division Three, the weather restricted the action but there were still big results for the top-of-the-table sides. First up, leaders ACD Utd maintained their 100% start with a impressive 3 – 0 win over previously unbeaten Hullbridge Sports ‘A’ at Westlands. Michael Wade resumed his imperious goal-scoring touch this term with another brace here for the hosts, with George Munns also adding a goal to make it thirty goals scored for the team in just six matches. Elsewhere, Manford Way Res won 2 – 1 at fellow high-flyers Wakebury. Charlie Little’s free-kick notched for Matt Cardy’s side but strikes by Jack Barraclough and Fuad Ibrahim made the win possible for the East London-based side and they rose to third, level on points with the Berries.

Also, Lakeside Utd got their third win in their last four games, winning 2 – 1 at home to Collier Row. Harry Davison and Daniel Stokes got the goals to give new player-boss Ben Crouch a win in his first match in charge. Utd move up to sixth spot, while Row fell to fifth in the standings after this result, and they are one of four sides all on 13 points (alongside Wakebury, Manford Way Ressies & Hullbridge ‘A’).

Season Review 2019-20: Essex Olympian League Division Four [EOFL SR 19/20 22.4.20]

Hello and welcome to the first of a mini-series of blog articles looking back at the ‘void’ Season 2019-20, as deemed by the FA. Sufficed to say, I felt it was important to mark what’s been another fascinating campaign in the Essex Olympian League, Essex Senior League & Eastern Senior League South (leagues I’ve watched mostly this season just gone).

Anyway, we begin the series with a look at Division Four, including an array of statistics compiled from the EOFL FA Full-Time website including top goalscorers & top appearance makers in the League fixtures. Thanks for reading.

EOFL Division Four (as of season cut-off point of March 14th 2020)

As with all the EOFL divisions, the season was halted in mid-March 2020 before eventually being curtailed several weeks later. At that point, Roydon took advantage of a fine run of six wins from their last eight matches to get themselves to the top of the standings, with 39 points from their 15 unbeaten matches played. Ten of those matches were at home and the North West Essex side won eight of them, drawing the other two. They also were the best ‘Entertainers’ in the division this term, scoring 67 goals at an average of 4.46 Goals per game (GpG).

Their nearest rivals in second spot were former leaders Chingford Athletic Development, who if I recall correctly were a new side in the EOFL this season, supporting the club to begin a pathway for the first team (who played in Senior One this term) for players. The Ath ‘second-side’ amassed 38 points from their 19 matches, scoring 61 goals in the process (the second best in the division) and having three entrants in the Top Goalscorers listing but more on that later.

Ongar Town Reserves finished in third spot after a mixed campaign, with 28 points from their 17 matches. Five of their nine wins came away from home interestingly though it is also worth noting that only six of those 17 games were at home. A leaky defence arguably stopped them from being nearer the top two at the cut-off point, though it is certainly a campaign to build on next term.

Next, three clubs all on 27 points with goal difference proving decisive in separating them. In fourth spot are Wakering Sports Reserves, having won eight of their 16 matches and having a better defence than their nearest rivals. Forest Glade also ended on 27 points though ended up fifth, because of inferior (and zero) goal difference. They won eight of their 19 matches in total, though had a better second half of the campaign as they rose up the mid-table spots. Catholic Utd’s Reserve side finished in sixth, also on 27 points though because a negative goal difference dragged them down. Continuing the mantra of the first team somewhat, the ‘second-side’ scored 52 goals and conceded 58, the second worst defence in the division. Also, five of their eight wins at their home pitch at the Len Forge Centre [3G].

There lays a gap of seven points before we reach the bottom half sides. Firstly, Galleywood Reserves are in seventh spot, having won six of their 14 matches to end on 20 points. A hard-earned quirk of their season is that they have the fourth best defensive record in the division, with 26 goals conceded. Only three of the top four sides are above them in terms of having a more miserly defensive record. Leytonstone Utd are a point behind them in eighth place, having grabbed six wins from their 15 matches which isn’t bad going when you factor in they were the second weakest in terms of scoring goals in Division Four in 2019-20. Laindon Orient Reserves are just behind in ninth spot, with six wins and nine losses from their 15 matches. Unfortunately, the O’s second-side do have that poorest goal-scoring record this term, along with the third-worst defence. Club Chairman Neil Blackburn will hope for better next term, you feel.

Rounding off the division are Old Chelmsfordians Reserves (10th, 17 points from 15 matches), Shenfield AFC Reserves (11th, 12 points from 16 games) and lastly, Canning Town Reserves who amassed two wins from their 18 matches to end up with ten points, whilst also conceding sixty goals, the worst in the division.

Essex Olympian League – Saturday 7 March

Premier Division

In the Premier Division, Sungate picked up a narrow 1 – 0 win at Rayleigh Town to extend their lead at the summit to six points. Buckhurst Hill can still catch them if they win five of the eight matches they have in hand on the ‘Gate. Rayleigh remain in seventh spot. Meanwhile, Kelvedon Hatch rose to fifth place after a 3 – 2 win over Harold Wood Athletic in a match moved to Frances Bardsley Academy 3G in Romford. Calvin Poku, Theo Ola and Joe Gregory all netted for Hatch, with Rob Whitnell and Jack Brown-Sykes scoring for Ath, who remain bottom, five points adrift of the top ten.

Shenfield AFC also secured a much-needed three points with a fine 5 – 2 win at mid-table Springfield. Ben Carroll grabbed a treble here, with Samuel Lock and Alex Tredgett also notching for AFC to send them up to 11th spot, four points clear of the bottom two.

Senior Division One

In Senior One, FC Hamlets won 2 – 0 at bottom side Toby through goals from Charlie Heatley and Jack Patten to secure their fifth league win this term, having played only 11 matches, due to postponements & Cup ties. Ashley King’s side rise to seventh spot and still have an outside chance of securing a top-four finish.

Lakeside edged to a 1 – 0 success over Runwell Sports with Jody Reynolds getting the only goal to go five points clear in fourth. Runwell remain in the bottom three. Also, Galleywood also won away from home, 2 – 0 at Ramsden Scotia thanks to strikes by Matthew Buckingham and replacement Jamie Rick, which sent ‘Wood up to fifth. Ramsden have lost three on-the-spin and remain in tenth.

Senior League Cup

In the one EOFL Senior Cup Quarter-Final tie, Catholic Utd edged to a 1 – 0 win over fellow Premier side Hutton at the Len Salmon Stadium. Jay Nash got the only goal to see the Super Hoops through to the last four.

Essex Premier Cup: Semi-Finals

In the one Essex Premier up Semi-Final that did take place at Roding Valley Sch 3G, Premier side Buckhurst Hill edged past impressive Senior One side Chingford Athletic on penalties after a pulsating 3 – 3 score-line after extra-time. Sam Sollosi netted twice for Mark Williams’ side in normal time, before Fenti Falola netted in extra time though Chingford showed their warrior spirit with Alex Gordon netting a double of his own which was added to by Gary Murray. Hill won the ensuing shoot-out 5 – 4 though this battle adds fuel to the thought that Dave Richbell’s side will be a Premier Division side next term. Congrats to both teams though it is Hill who make it through to the Final to defend their title at Billericay Town’s New Lodge on Wednesday April 11th.

Senior Division Two

Two matches survived in Senior Two, as Beacon Hill Rovers went back up to second spot with a 3 – 1 home win over Wakering Sports in the early kick-off, moved to Plume Sch in Maldon. Nathan Ruggles, Ade Adeyemi and a late Stephen Bennett spot-kick saw Rovers to a fifth straight win and are seven points off leaders Leigh Town. Corinthians also endorsed their promotion chances with a 4 – 2 win at May & Baker Res. Alfie Knight, Ollie Brickwood, John Bolton-Smith and Dan Cooksley all netted for Chris Stoneham’s side who went above their opponents into fourth place. Ryan Leavens and Ricardo Teixeira struck for Jimmy Donald’s team though their own aspirations of elevation took a dent here as they have five matches left to play.

Senior Division Three

Finally for the round-up section in Senior Three, Wakebury failed to gain ground on leaders ACD Utd as they were held 0 – 0 by Toby Res at Shoebury Park. It looks increasingly likely that Corinthians Res are the biggest threat for the title though the Berries will still want to secure a top-two finish for the best chance of promotion. Elsewhere, Lakeside Res got their third win in their last five with an important 3 – 1 win at Collier Row. This win sent ‘Side up to ninth, four points clear of the bottom two and handed Row a setback in their focus for a top-three finish.

Also, Corinthians Res handed White Ensign Res another heavy loss as Terry Rose’s side won 6 – 0 at Stambridge Memorial Ground. It was an ensemble cast of scorers with Steve Solarin, Max Hall, Ashley Webb, Ryan Woodley, George Penfold and Taner Dagyaran all on target as the hosts remain third and cut the deficit to leaders ACD to six points with three matches in hand on them. Ensign’s second side have three matches left to get out of the bottom two, they sit second-bottom and are three points away from Basildon Town Ressies.

Hello and welcome to this week’s round-up of Essex Olympian League action from Saturday 22 February. A few matches fell to the weather but with the aid of 3G pitches, most teams were in action as the promotion & relegation battles intensify. Thanks for reading.

Premier Division

It was a day of mixed results for the top four in the Premier as Bishop’s Stortford Swifts new dawn continued as they defeated leaders Sungate 3 – 1 at Silver Leys. A brace from Jayden Hocking-Rising and one from fellow new recruit Matt Gill saw Billy Cove’s side up to tenth, four points clear of the bottom two. The ‘Gate saw their lead at the summit cut to three points as second-placed Leigh Ramblers won their local derby with Old Southendian 3 – 0 at Belfairs Park. Andrew Webster got a double here with Matt Allum getting the other goal as the Rams made it five wins from their last six outings. OS drop one to ninth, still too close for comfort to the bottom two.

Rayleigh Town powered to a 7 – 1 win at Basildon Town in one of a number of matches moved to 3G pitches this weekend with this one took place at Hannakins Farm Community Centre. Doubles for Paul Morris & George Vile were added to by Charlie Seaden, Bailey Moss and debutant Neil Richmond as Paul Higgins’ side sit 7th, five points off the top four with a huge 13 league matches remaining, thanks to recent postponements. Sam Green got a scant consolation for Bas who also have matches to make up, ditto Rayleigh. In their bottom-of-the-table clash in Beckton, Canning Town were held 1 – 1 by bottom side Harold Wood Athletic, with Reece Baker getting the goal for the visitors here.

Also, Buckhurst Hill defeated Springfield 4 – 0 in a match moved to St John’s 3G in Epping to advance to third spot, nine points behind the leaders with at least seven matches in hand on the top two.

Senior Division One

Now into Senior One, and Chingford Athletic continued their quest for the title as they defeated strugglers Toby 2 – 0 at Town Mead. Goals from Sam Coe and Luke Dimond were enough to give the hosts their third straight win. Toby are now four points adrift at the foot of the table. Old Chelmsfordians remain seven points off the leaders as they narrowly defeated Ramsden Scotia 1 – 0. Lakeside lost ground on the top three as Snaresbrook won their match 3 – 1. Jazreel David, Mitchell Collymore and Jermaine Purchas got the goals for ‘Brook as they went up to ninth and are one of three sides who have only played ten matches thus far. Ollie Pettit struck for ‘Side here.

Rayleigh Town Res rise to fifth after a 2 – 1 win over Shoebury Town in their match, moved to Beauchamps Sch. Rodney Wilson and Adam Bessadi strikes extended the unbeaten run for Lee Bunn’s side to five matches. Shoebury remain seventh after failing to win in their last six. FC Hamlets came back to hold Galleywood 1 – 1 at Hackney Marshes. Billy Kinchlea put ‘Wood ahead before player-boss Ashley King levelled as both sides remain in mid-table.

Senior Division Two

In Senior Two, with leaders Leigh Town not in action, Old Suthendian Res retained second spot with a 3 – 0 win over Rochford Town at Garon Park. Luke Stillwell, Ben Franklin and Jack Pagett all scored to give Ben Manley’s side a healthy win, despite Thomas Magerison’s dismissal reducing them to ten men. OS Ressies were further boosted last week as they were handed an additional two points as an opposition side fielded an ineligible player in a drawn match with OS late last year. Beacon Hill Rovers remain third after a battling 1 – 0 win at Harold Wood Athletic Res in the late game at Noak Hill. Ade Adeyemi got the goal as Rovers made it four wins on-the-bounce. Ath’s Ressies remain ninth, eight points adrift of Wakering Sports just above them, who also got a narrow win, 3 – 2 over AS Rawreth at Cupid’s. Ben Aston, Scott Clark and Mitchell Gleeson netted for Sports here over the fellow strugglers AS, who remain second-bottom.

Finally, Corinthians won 3 – 1 at a new-look Epping Town side, with Jake Hodder, Leo Clarke and Ollie Brickwood all on target for Chris Stoneham’s side, who go back up to fourth. They are eight points off Old Southendian Ressies, with four matches in hand on them. Town have lost four of their last five but perhaps their target now is stability in this division ahead of next term.

Senior Division Three

In Senior Division Three, ACD Utd are five points clear at the top after a 3 – 1 win at Toby Res. Player-manager Michael Wade got another double here to reach 15 league goals this season. Paul Mangan got the other goal though there was another milestone moment for the EOFL newcomers. Shaun Farrow and Connor Lambert both reached 100 appearances for ACD so congrats go to them. Connor Walk’s wind-assisted corner got the reply for Toby’s second-side though they slide to fifth.

Elsewhere, Corinthians Res edged to a 3 – 2 triumph over Lakeside Res at Stambridge. Max Hall’s hat-trick here takes him to 19 league goals, above Wakebury’s Charlie Little in the race for the ‘Golden Boot’ in this division. Harry Davison got both goals for Lakeside’s second team here though they remain third-bottom while Terry Rose’s side cut the gap to second-placed Wakebury to four points and they also have four matches in hand on the top two. Also, Hutton Res grabbed a 6 – 3 win over Basildon Town Res at Billericay School. Sean O’Callaghan led the way with a treble here, wit Stephen Judge, Conor O’Regan and George Wickings also on target as they go up to sixth. Jamie Miller’s double and Nicholas Bowers accounted for Town’s goals though they remain ninth.

Finally, Collier Row went back up to fourth after a 5 – 3 win over Hullbridge Sports ‘A’ in the midday kick-off at the James Hornsby Centre 3G. Joshua Boswell, Will Bray and George Mole all scored for Sports though remain bottom, six points behind local rivals White Ensign Res.

Hello and welcome to this week’s Essex Olympian League round-up, looking at all the action from Saturday 25th January. There were battles at both ends of the Premier Division as well as big games in the divisions below that.

Premier Division

As we usually do, we start in the top-tier. In their top of the table showdown, Buckhurst Hill were held to a goalless draw by rivals Sungate, in a match seen my Non-League Correspondent ‘DW’. His video clips are available via his Twitter feed sat @essexfootie. Also, Leigh Ramblers got a fine 4 – 1 win at struggling Bishop’s Stortford Swifts. Charlie Portway netted for Swifts though that was outdone by goals for the Rams by Andrew Webster, Ryan Lowe , Pat Cannon and Dan Williams wich in turn secured the visitors their fourth win in their last games and rise to second spot, six points off leaders Sungate. Shenfield AFC also grabbed a hugely-important triumph as they won 4 – 1 at Canning Town. Alex Tredgett’s brace led the strugglers on the path to victory, with Ben Caroll and Samuel Lock also on target to send them up two places to 12th. Canning stay in eighth spot but only have seven matches remaining to play this season and they are only three points clear of the bottom.

Finally for the Premier, in the match I attended at Garon Park, Old Southendian got a big 4 – 0 win over title challengers Catholic Utd. Nick Henesy struck twice, with Nico Dubouchet and Ryan Stillwell’s also on target as OS ended a a four-match winless run in some style to rise to 10th. The ‘Super Hoops’ have lost their last three matches now and drop to 3rd and are vulnerable by the sides immediately below them in Buckhurst Hill, Springfield and Rayleigh Town who all have matches in hand on Dan Trenkel’s side. EOFL Senior ONE

In Senior One, FC Hamlets defeated fellow mid-table side Shoebury Town 2 – 0, thanks to goals from John Gilroy and Charlie Heatley to move up to ninth, though Ashley King’s side have still only played eight matches in the league thus far, so a busy next three months or so beckons. Leaders Chingford Athletic won again, 3 – 0 at top five side Galleywood, thanks to a treble by Lee Lashley. Dave Richbell’s side lead the division by ten points, though their rivals all have a number of matches in hand on them. Old Chelmsfordians remain second after a thumping 6 – 1 success over Herongate Athletic at Lawford Lane. Ongar Town rise to third after a fine 4 – 0 home win over Manford Way which preserves their unbeaten record this term.

EOFL Senior TWO

In what was a mixed day for the top five in Senior Two, leaders Leigh Town were untroubled as they won 3 – 1 at home to Harold Wood Athletic Res at John Burrows Rec. Harry Payne, Daniel Driscoll and Brodie Horne all struck to give Jack Pearman’s side a sixth consecutive league triumph and go three points clear at the summit. May & Baker Res defeated fellow high-flyers Old Southendian Res as Jmmy Donald’s side came out 2 – 1 winners. Michael Agha and Darren Seymour strikes overturned David Stubbs’ strike for the OS side and went five points clear in 4th. Ben Manley’s OS side saw their eleven-match unbeaten streak end here though they remain 2nd, a point clear of Beacon Hill Rovers, who impressively won 3 – 2 at rivals Corinthians. A George Davis double and one from Adefunbi Adeyemi was enough to secure Rovers a sixth win in their last seven matches to stay 3rd. Chris Stoneham’s side drop to seventh though do have matches in hand to compensate for their dip in form of late.

Wakering Sports also won, 2 – 0 at home to out-of-form Epping Town. Ryan Gregory and Ben Rowe strikes were enough to give Sports a second win in their last seven outings. Epping remain fifth on goal difference after a frustrating afternoon. Laindon Orient are level on points with Town in sixth following a 6 – 0 win at home to beleaguered Ryan. Skipper James Shadwell got a treble with Carlos Dias, Jordan Walsh and Ashley Blackburn also on the score-sheet in a resounding win for Neil Blackburn’s team.

Senior Division Three

An explosive day of Senior Three action saw 37 goals scored in just five matches. Wakebury remain four oints clear at the summit after a 4 – 2 triumph at White Ensign Res. Charlie Little got another brace for Matt Cardy’s side, with Liam Jarrett and Harry Kateley also on the scorer’s sheet to make it four straight wins though with five matches remaining to play, the onus will soon turn to their rivals as they seek to gain ground on the EOFL newcomers. ACD Utd still lead the chasing pack in second place, after an enthralling 6 – 4 win over Basildon Town Res at Westlands. Player-boss Michael Wade got a treble here, with Connor Lambert also netting twice and Sam Payne also chipping in. Grant Cumming hit two for Bas, with Ryan Morgan and Lewis Wynne also on target though they remain second-bottom.

Corinthians Res also got back to winning ways with a narrow 4 – 3 win at bottom side Hullbridge Sports ‘A’. Max Hall’s hat-trick and one from Ashley Webb was enough to outdo home goals from William Bray, Tom Ranger and replacement Joseph Darby and remain third, six points ahead of Collier Row. Lakeside Res got their third win in their last four games with a 4 – 2 success at mid-table Toby Res. Salem Said got a brace, with Brandon Booty’s spot-kick and Damilola Olusanya also contributing. Toby’s second-side responded through Dean Maguchu and Marc Porter-Brown strikes though it is four losses on-the-bounce for them as they stay fifth, 11 points adrift of ACD in second.

Also, Buckhurst Hill Res rose to seventh with a 5 – 3 victory over fellow mid-table side Leigh Town Res. Tommy Fraine grabbed a treble to keep up his impressive form in front of goal, with Landry Gogoa also netting for the Hill second-side.
