Hello & welcome to the latest Essex Olympian League column, tracking the action in all divisions & Cups from Saturday 25 March, as the fixture programme made it through well despite ongoing unfavourable weather.

EOFL Cups

The two EOFL Senior Cup Semi-Final ties did take place this weekend. First, Catholic Utd made yet another final after an excellent 3 – 1 triumph at promotion-chasing Hutton. The trio of Aaron Baldwin, Liam Oliver & James Warder all netted here at Chadfields to send Simon Thomas’ side through. They will face Toby after they came through 4 – 2 on penalties after a 1 – 1 draw at home to Sungate. Harry Barham scored for the Brewers, but substitute Petrit Elbi levelled for the ‘Gate to force the lottery of a penalty shoot-out.

One other Cup tie to note this week, which saw ACD Utd progess with a 4 – 2 win over Ongar Town in the Denny King Cup. Jacob Dingli struck a fine treble, along with a goal for Scott Perkins saw Michael Wade’s win. Finlay Cook got both goals for Town but their focus in back on Division Four which is approaching its final weeks.

EOFL Premier Division & Division One

The top-tier saw the focus move to the chasing pack this weekend. Rayleigh Town reduced the gap to leaders Hutton to ten points after a 4 – 1 victory over Galleywood at Thames Road. Harry Talbot, William Vile, Charlie Seaden & substitute Philip Anunwa all scored for the Town side, with Ben Smith getting the visitors’ reply, but they are now five points adrift at the bottom of the table, with nine matches left. Springfield leapt out of the bottom three after a superb 4 – 2 success at Shenfield AFC. Finlay Dorrell’s goal tally got even better, scoring a treble here which was added to by recent signing Harry Kateley. Matt Cardy’s side have 18 points now, rising above Kelvedon Hatch, who drew 1 – 1 at rivals Bishop’s Stortford Swifts. William Norris netted for Swifts, who slipped to second-bottom, two points adrift of Hatch – both teams have six matches left to avoid finishing in the bottom two.

Meanwhile, Runwell Sports continued their good form with a 3 – 0 victory at home to Old Southendian, which saw them reduce the gap to OS in fourth to a single point. Leigh Ramblers are also on 34 points in sixth, after a good 3 – 2 victory at Canning Town, who are now ninth.

In Division One, Beacon Hill Rovers ended leaders Harold Wood Athletic’s unbeaten league run, as Rovers won 2 – 0, with Bertie Whymark and replacement George Etheridge goals sealing the win that sees them stay eighth but are level on points with Herongate just above them.The loss for Harold Wood leaves them vulnerable to being caught in the title race by Old Chelmsfordians, Manford Way, Epping Town and Corinthians, who got a important tonic with a 2 – 1 win at Herongate Athletic to reduce the deficit to the leaders Harold Wood to only four points, with five matches left – the most to play in this very tightly packed top-five. Manford Way are also in the mix, as a 2 – 0 win over Harold Hill was achieved, with Joshua Owoaje notching twice to see them up to third spot, with two matches left.

EOFL Divisions Two, Three, Four & Five

In Division Two this week, promoted Shoebury Town maintained their four-point lead at the summit in the race for title, as they won 6 – 1 at AS Rawreth. Mechack-Kisoka Asuka took his tally to 24 league goals with another fine hat-trick for Town. Luke Jackson also got two goals & replacement Timi Tinubu got the other for Garry Johnson & John Galley’s side here. Rivals Wakering Sports Res also got a good win, 5 – 0 at Hashtag Utd Dev, with Connor Fardyga scoring all five goals for Jason Doyle’s team here, to also get to 24 league goals. Shoebury are in prime position for said title, and three more wins will be enough to be absolutely sure of silverware. Hashtag’s chances of a third-placed finish are also lessened by this result, as Harold Wood Athletic Res won 4 – 2 at Rayleigh Town Res, to go within four points of Utd, with four matches left. Max London, Jerry Nkoy, Cohen Hubbard & Matt Harris all scored to give Wood the points.

Finally in this division, Hutton Res won 2 – 1 against Catholic Utd Res at Polo Fields. Jake Smith & Lewis Hall scored for the Reds as they went four points clear in to sixth. Utd’s second side responded through John Nutman’s goal, they remain seventh.

Moving into Division Three, and Leigh Town Res gained ground on leaders Basildon Town Res as Leigh won 3 – 2 away at Hullbridge Res. Jay Knight & Harry Mole struck for the hosts, but a brace from substitute Callum Stone and one from Tommy Clayton meant that Leigh got the win and means that four points from their last two games will make ensure a top-two finish. Hullbridge remain fifth, ahead of Chingford Athletic Res on goal difference after Chingford won 2 – 1 at Springfield Res. Samuel May-Parrott & Bilel Benyoucef goals outdid replacement Henry Payne’s reply at Arun Park. Lastly, two of the bottom three sides faced each other at Lawford Lane, with Old Chelmsfordians Res conclusively defeating second-bottom Corinthians Res 11 – 0. There were trebles for Emmanuel Mukuka, George Prentice and Thomas Ellis, with returnee Martin Mixture grabbing a double as well.

In Division Four, Leigh Ramblers Res continued their good run with a 5 – 2 win over Bishop’s Stortford Swifts Res to send them top on goal difference. Jacob Mead scored twice with goals for Luis Bracci, Matthew Pooley & Stuart Greaves ensuring Terry Johnson’s side are in pole position for another promotion. Samuel Brown & Fraser Bush netted for Swifts but their own promotion aspirations took a dent here. Collier Row grabbed a 2 – 0 win at Galleywood Res, which gives them a chance of a top four finish but they have played more games than all their rivals. Lastly, Leytonstone Utd got another point in their relegation six-pointer as they held Wakering Sports A to a 3 – 3 draw at Forest Row. Carl Sutton, Charlie Cottrill & Jason Lewin all scored for Sports in that game.

Finally, in Division Five there was a big win for Basildon Town A as they defeated bottom side AS Rawreth Res 6 – 1. Donnel Kujinga grabbed another three goals, to add to strikes by Billy Falco, Alex Smith & Shaun Watkins and confirm the points which sees Town still well in with a shot at a top-three finish. Justin Burrell got the solitary goal for Rawreth there. Manford Way Res went back to the summit after a 5 – 0 success at Shoebury Town Res, which means they will be champions & promoted to Div Four with a match to spare. Many congrats to them.

Hello & welcome to the latest Essex Olympian League column, tracking the action in all divisions & Cups from Saturday 4 March, as the top three all won in the top-tier, plus Sungate & Toby progressed in the Senior Cup.

EOFL Cups

In the two Senior Cup ties this weekend, Toby sealed their progress with a 5 – 1 victory at Bishop’s Stortford Swifts. Albert Perry netted twice for Mark Jones’ side, with Rhys Willson, Harry Barham & Tom Roser also on target as they made the last four. They are joined by Sungate, who needed a spot-kicks to get past second-tier side Old Chelmsfordians after a 1 – 1 daw at Lawford Lane. Bobby Port’s team won the ensuing penalties 7 – 6 to go through. In the Denny King Cup, Shoebury Town showed no lack of determination as they had two late goals from Jack Woodham to thank for a 2 – 1 victory over Beacon Hill Rovers at Ekco Sports Club. Rounding out the Cup section this week is three games in the Reserve Trophy. Harold Wood Athletic Res went through, winning 4 – 3 on penalties after a 2 – 2 draw against Toby Res at Nursery Sports Ground. Substitutes Josh Portway & Derek Hawtin for Ath forced the resulting shoot-out. They are joined in the next round by Old Chelmsfordians Res, who won 3 – 2 at Sungate Res and Runwell Sports Res, who edged past Canning Town Res 1 – 0 at St Luke’s Park.

EOFL Premier Division

There was one midweek match this week, as Catholic Utd again caught up on their fixtures, as they defeated Toby 3 – 0 at Southchurch Park, in a match I attended. Liam Oliver’s first-half treble was enough to seal the points for Simon Thomas’ side. Onto the weekend Premier action now, and Hutton got back to winning ways with a slender 1 – 0 success at Leigh Ramblers. Connor Hammond got another important goal to keep Matt Singh’s side top by seven points. The chasing pack both won though, as Catholic Utd backed up their earlier midweek win with a 2 – 0 triumph at Springfield. James Warder & Liam Oliver both scored to keep the Essex Bhoys in second place, a point clear of Rayleigh Town, who in turn defeated Kelvedon Hatch 3 – 1 at Thames Road. James Nottage netted for Hatch, but goals from Harry Talbot, Ben Baxter & Lewis Robson secured the win for Paul Higgins’ side.

Meanwhile, Old Southendian remain fifth after an impressive 3 – 0 win at Shenfield AFC. Mattias Tonking’s brace of spot-kicks was added to by Callum Ludlaim’s goal to seal another win for Altan Ali’s team. Runwell Sports sit sixth with several matches in hand after their 3 – 0 victory at strugglers Galleywood. Charlie Little, Gianni Frankis & Oliver Williamson all netted for Robert Hodgson’s team, in what could still be a memorable season for them.

EOFL Divisions One & Two

There were two games in Division One this week, both games involving the chasing pack. Epping Town grabbed a much-needed three points with a 2 – 1 win at home to ACD Utd. Billy Wren netted for Utd here but two goals for Chris Gormley saw Stuart Hoskins’ team remain third and with a four-point lead over Manford Way, who claimed the points thanks to a 3 – 0 success over Herongate Athletic. David Alele, Siddy Clarkson & Charlie Parish all scored here for Manford.

Moving into Division Two now, and we begin with an important win for Rayleigh Town Res, who got past Hutton Res 2 – 1 at London Road to head out of the bottom two. Goals from Byron Down and Adam Wright were enough to seal the win for Dave Barker’s team. Hashtag Utd Development also bagged the points after a 1 – 0 success over May & Baker at Barleylands. Matthew Gauci’s goal was enough to see Denis Simpson’s team back up into third but they are five points adrift of Wakering Sports Res, who demolished Old Southendian Res 8 – 2 at Cupid’s. Connor Fardyga again led the scorers for the hosts, with four goals here & he was assisted by Adem Beji’s double plus strikes from Alex Jenkins & Oliver Greene to see Sports reduce the arrears to leaders Shoebury to four points.

Lastly, Catholic Utd Res defeated AS Rawreth 3 – 0, in a rare Ressie game played at the Len Forge. Daniel Williams, Finlay Grant & replacement Matt Creevy all scored to give Eamonn Kearney’s side a win which takes them up to sixth.

EOFL Divisions Three, Four & Five

In Division Three, Leigh Town Res moved into second place after a 1 – 0 win over Chingford Athletic Res. Chris Pope got the decisive goal in this one. They are now three points clear of Pitsea Athletic after they lost 1 – 2 at Hullbridge Sports Res. Paul Morris & Nicholas Sherlock got the goals to see Hullbridge level on points with their opponents. Springfield Res won 3 – 1 at Buckhurst Hill U23, with Tristan Ofori-Sampong & substitutes Liam England & Jacob Brewer all on target to give them a third consecutive win & helps them up to sixth. Olaobajuwon Olagbaju got the reply for Buckhurst there.

In Division Four, promotion-chasing Leigh Ramblers Res had two late goals to thank for a superb 2 – 0 win at leaders Roydon. Substitutes Ethan Nunn & Taylor Stewart both scored to keep the gap to second spot at three points, with several more matches to play. Roydon’s title charge took a dent and their lead drops to three points. Herongate Athletic Res reside in second spot now after they powered past Leytonstone Utd 6 – 1 at Billericay Road. Ryan Creed had a debut to remember as he struck four goals here. Byron Brackett & Habeeb Apatira also netted to more than secure the points. Ongar Town also bagged a terrific win, 5 – 0 at Pitsea Athletic Res. Tommy Smith netted twice, with Mason White, Ethan Hook & replacement Adoreke Oke all adding to the scoresheet in a win which keeps them sixth. The last game in this division saw Shenfield AFC Res defeated Galleywood Res 3 – 1, to take them eight points clear in seventh spot.

In Division Five, Wakebury Res got a superb 5 – 3 victory over leaders Manford Way Res at Shoebury Park. Connor Lane netted four goals for Joe Creak’s side & an OG sealed the win. George Green netted two for Manford & Callum Thomas added another but their lead stays at two points, wiith a match in hand. Basildon Town A have all but secured at least fifth spot after they won 3 – 1 at Shoebury Town Res. Donnel Kujinga, Shawn Banks & replacement Luke Soley all scored here, to give the Bas’ third side lingering hope of a top-two spot as they have two matches in hand on their closest rivals.

The other result this weekend saw Collier Row Res convincingly win 9 – 1 at AS Rawreth Res, to keep themselves in fourth.

Hello & welcome to the another edition of the Essex Olympian League round-up. This week, we look at the action in all divisions & Cups from Saturday 28 January, as the weekend’s action was for the most part restored following the restrictive weather conditions in the ladt month.

EOFL Premier Division

In the top-tier, Hutton retained their 14 point lead at the summit, following a 5 – 1 victory at Galleywood. Substitute Matthew Price netted twice here, with Luke Ricketts, Joshua Seal & Connor Hammond also scoring for Matt Singh’s side. Ronnie Edwards replied for ‘Wood, who remain three points adrift at the bottom. Rayleigh Town produced a terrific display in an 8 – 0 success over Bishop’s Stortford Swifts at Thames Road. There were trebles for Jack Long and George Vile, along with strikes for William Vile and substitute Lewis Robson to give Town a much-needed win, given the race for second spot in gathering pace. They went back into second after Toby defeated Leigh Ramblers 2 – 0 at the Nursery Sports Ground. Sonny Leeks’ brace confirmed a big win for Mark Jones’ side, which takes them five points clear of the bottom two.

Elsewhere, Old Southendian are up to fourth spot following a fine 5 – 1 victory over Kelvedon Hatch at Garon Park 3G. Callum Ludlaim had arguably his best day this season, scoring a fine treble, with Mitchell Ali & Nico Dubouchet also scoring for Altar Ali’s side. Joe Newson netted reply after coming off the bench for Darren Hunt’s side, who drop to 11th. Catholic Utd had a battling 2 – 1 victory at Canning Town, with Joe O’Kane & Louie Hay goals sending them sixth, with several games in hand on most of the teams around them. Shenfield AFC remain ninth after a 3 – 0 victory at Springfield, with Jack Maleary, Ben Absolon & Ben Carroll all scoring for AFC. Springfield boss Allan Fenn has also elected to step down, and I wish him well for the future.

Finally, Runwell Sports stay eighth after an excellent 4 – 2 success at Sungate. James Dalton netted two goals for Rob Hodgson’s side, with Gianni Frankis & Owen Barratt adding further goals. Runwell are now ten points clear of the bottom two, as they seek to have a second consecutive campaign at Step 7.

EOFL Divisions One, Two & Three

Division One this week saw some key results. First, Epping Town battled hard before securing a 5 – 3 victory over Herongate Athletic at Billericay Road. Joe Rickett’s superb treble was added to by goals from Scout Bown & Abdul Kamara as Stuart Hoskins’ side remained three points clear in second. Alfie Yeend scored twice for Ath, with Thomas Lambourne also scoring. Old Chelmsfordians remain third at this juncture, following a 2 – 1 win at home to Beacon Hill Rovers, with Jack Walker netting for Rovers. Manford Way also got an important victory, 2 – 1 at home to Corinthians. Dawid Potoczek & replacement Harry Davison both scored for Colin Dobson’s team, who go up to sixth, while their opponents lost ground on the top three.

Into Division Two now and the stand-out result saw Catholic Utd Res defeat Hashtag Utd Development 3 – 1 at St Thomas More Sch. James Warder’s brace & a goal for Daniel Williams secured a win that takes them four points clear of the bottom two. Hashtag’s youth side lost ground on the top two and are also vulnerable to being caught by Harold Wood Athletic Res, who have matches in hand. Leaders Shoebury Town are now seven points clear, following a comeback 4 – 2 win at Wakebury. Finlay Dorrell & Louis Yuille both netted for Matt Cardy’s team but a double for Jack Woodham plus goals for Mechack-Kisoka Asuka & Enoch Gyimah secured Town’s 10th win this term. Finally for this division, Rayleigh Town Res also notched an important 5 – 0 success at home to AS Rawreth.

Now into Division Three, Basildon Town Res emerged with a terrific 8 – 0 win at Corinthians Res, with Louis Hill scoring a hat-trick, added to by Jamie Bradbourn’s brace and one each for Keith King, Daniel Okah and replacement Harry Johnson. Town remain eight points clear at the summit now. Buckhurst Hill U23 also got the three points, with a 3 – 1 victory over Pitsea Athletic at Roding Lane. Harvey Woods struck twice for Darren Gosnell’s team, plus Joe Marjason’s additional goal which secured the win which takes them above Pitsea & into fourth. Elsewhere, Chingford Athletic Res narrowly defeated Springfield Res 3 – 2 at Town Mead 3G. Conor Medhurst’s double & Luke Dimond’s strike outdid goals by Liam England & replacement Adam Jackson for the visitors. Finally, Leigh Town Res got a 2 – 1 win over Toby Res at John Burrows Rec, with Chris Pope and Spencer Izatt the scorers for Josh Burrage’s side, who rise to second spot.

EOFL Divisions Four & Five

Moving into Division Four, and Leigh Ramblers Res grabbed a convincing 7 – 0 triumph at home to Galleywood Res. Charlie Batchelor notched twice for the Rams second-side, with Joe Howson (pen), Luis Bracci, Dominic North, Ethan Nunn & substitute Cameron Jarvis all also scoring here. That result takes them up to fourth & strengthens their chances of being in the promotion race. Ongar Town also won this week, with a 2 – 0 success over Herongate Athletic Res at Marks Hall. Jude Collins & Mason White both netted for Tony West’s team. Also, Bishop’s Stortford Swifts Res drew 1 – 1 with Roydon at Silver Leys. Matthew Allen netted for Swifts, and Connor Riddoch replied for Roydon. The visitors there dropped to second by virtue of Collier Row’s Walkover win over Pitsea Athletic Res, which takes Row two points clear but they have played three games more.

In Division Five, Basildon Town A went back up to fifth after a 6 – 0 victory against Shoebury Town Res. Donnel Kujinga led the scorers with a fine treble, with Jamie Miller scoring two & replacement Bradley Pike also notching in this win which takes them up to fifth. Also, Manford Way Res extended their lead to seven points at the summit after a 7 – 2 win at Canning Town Res.

Cups

There were three Cup matches this week. Firstly, in the EOFL Reserve Cup, Hutton Res prevailed with a 4 – 1 victory over Runwell Sports Res at Polo Fields. Rodney Wilson, Luke Haydon & substitutes Thomas Price & Ronnie Richardson-Cook got the goals for the hosts there. In the Reserve Trophy, Sungate Res progressed with a 4 – 2 success at AS Rawreth Res. Justin Burrell & Bradley Giles got the goals in reply for the AS side.

Finally, Wakering Sports powered to a 5 – 0 victory over Leytonstone Utd at Cupid’s, in the Denny King Cup. Ryan Curtis & Paul Wines both netted doubles here for Sports, with Mekhi Weekes adding the other goal there.

Hello & Happy New Year to the readers of this column. Welcome to the first edition of the Essex Olympian League round-up series in 2023. This week, we look at the action in all divisions from Saturday 7 January, plus the Cup ties this week.

EOFL Premier Division

Firstly in the top-tier, Hutton extended their seemingly unassailable lead at the top to 14 points after a 5 – 0 victory at Springfield. David Johnson netted twice here for Matt Singh’s side, with Jude Keeling, Tom Stephens and substitute Connor Hammond also netting here. The hosts remain second bottom, two points adrift of Toby. Sungate are in third on goal difference, despite being held to a goal-less draw by Bishop’s Stortford Swifts. Leigh Ramblers are up to fourth after a gritty 1 – 0 victory at home to Runwell Sports at Belfairs. Scott Clark again got a crucial goal for Mark Hunter’s team.

Meanwhile, Catholic Utd started the calendar year with a 4 – 1 triumph at home to Kelvedon Hatch at the Len Forge 3G. James Burt scored for Hatch, but a team effort turned the tide as Franklin Craik, Aaron Baldwin, Tom Kearney and replacement Harrison Day all scored to keep Simon Thomas’ side in sixth, but are only two points adrift of Sungate in third. Shenfield AFC also picked up a big home win, as they triumphed 4 – 0 over Galleywood at St Martin’s Sch 3G. Jack Maleary, Ben Absolon, Jack Panons & Ben Carroll all netted here to send them three points clear in ninth, with matches in hand over most of the teams around them. ‘Wood’s tough season continues, as they are five points adrift of exiting the bottom two. Finally, Old Southendian got back to winning ways in some style as they won 6 – 0 at home to Toby at Garon Park, which sent them up to fifth on goal difference in what is a very tight chasing pack.

EOFL Divisions One & Two

Division One only saw three matches this week because of the weather but Epping Town got a huge 6 – 1 victory over strugglers Wakering Sports. Scout Bown netted four goals here for Stuart Hoskins’ team, to take his season’s league goal tally to 16. Edirin Eghwrudje and Abdul Kamara also scored here to add to the visitors’ pain and reduce leaders Harold Wood Athletic’s lead at the summit to four points. Beacon Hill Rovers also got a cucial victory, defeating Herongate Athletic 3 – 2 at Wickham Bishops. Bertie Whymark took his goal tally to seven this term with a double here, with William Strutt also netting for the hosts. Manford Way also drew 1 – 1 with Old Chelmsfordians, with Daniel Demain coming off the bench to score for the hosts there, with the point gained seeing them up to seventh in the table.

Into Division Two, there were some big results for the top four sides. Leaders Shoebury Town are four points clear at the top after an important 3 – 0 victory over Hashtag Utd Development, who dropped to third. Mechack-Kisoka Asuka scored another two goals to take his league goal tally to 13 this term. Substitute Enoch Gyimah added the other goal for Garry Johnson & John Galley’s side here. Wakering Sports Res are up to second spot after a 5 – 0 win against AS Rawreth at Cupid’s. May & Baker‘s Olympian side had to battle hard before completing a 4 – 3 victory at Catholic Utd Res, in a match moved to Waterside Farm Centre on Canvey. Carl Patten struck twice for Josh Lowbridge & Antony McDonald’s side, with Darren Seymour and Alfie Horan also scoring for the visitors there, who stay sixth but are only four points behind Wakering Sports Res in second, which endorses how tight the top half of the table is.

Elsewhere, Hutton Res moved up to eighth following a big 3 – 2 win at Wakebury. Thomas Price, Billy Chilcott and Ronnie Richardson-Cook all netted here for the visitors. Finlay Dorrell & Ben Perry responded for Matt Cardy’s team here but they lost ground on the top two. The other result saw Old Southendian Res win 4 – 2 at Rayleigh Town Res.

EOFL Divisions Three, Four & Five

In Division Three, Basildon Town Res are eight points clear at the summit after a 2 – 1 victory over local rivals Pitsea Athletic Res. Jamie Bradbourn’s brace sealed the points for the hosts, overturning Ath’s goal by substitute Carlos Dias. Ath fell to their first defeat this term & dropped to fourth. Hullbridge Sports Res are up to second after a comprehensive 8 – 0 victory at strugglers Corinthians Res. Jay Knight, Harry Mole and substitute George Mole all got doubles here, with Joe Tuskin and Joseph Gray strikes adding further gloss to the score-line.

Leigh Town Res are now third after a 5 – 2 success at home to Springfield Res at John Burrows Rec. Chris Pope netted twice here for Town, with Jack Pearman, Steve Birnie and Joshua Dalton all on target to render Liam England & William Roe goals for Springfield as consolation goals. Chingford Athletic Res grabbed a 4 – 1 victory at Old Chelmsfordians Res, with the ensemble cast of Luke Dimond, Bilel Benyoucef, George Miller and replacement Conor Medhurst all scoring for Ath.

Moving into Division Four, and Leigh Ramblers Res gained ground on second-placed Collier Row with a 1 – 0 victory at Forest Row. Luis Bracci got the decisive goal there, to raise his side up to third in the table. In the only other game in the division, Bishop’s Stortford Swifts Res were held 1 – 1 by Ongar Town at Silver Leys. Matthew Allen scored for Swifts, with Benjamin Adams responding for Ongar. Swifts drop to fifth, while Ongar are in eighth.

Finally for the League action this week, In Division Five the leaders are Manford Way Res, who won 4 – 1 at AS Rawreth Res. Callum Thomas, Luke Bennett, Charlie Ewing & Rakim Janneh all netted to extend their lead at the top to five points. Justin Burrell got the solitary goal back for the Rawreth team, who are three points adrift at the bottom. Wakebury Res moved into second spot following a 3 – 1 triumph over Basildon Town A at Shoebury Park. Ross Barnes’ treble saw Joe Creak’s side to their seventh win this term. Jamie Miller got the reply for Bas, who are now in sixth.

Elsewhere, Runwell Sports Res are up to fourth after they won 1 – 0 at home to Sungate Res. Daniel Hobbs got the only goal there at St Luke’s Park. The other result saw Shoebury Town Res draw 1 – 1 with Collier Row A at the Ekco Sports Club (Pitch 2).

In the Cup action this weekend, Canning Town emerged with a 4 – 3 win on penalties in the Senior League Cup after drawing 1 – 1 with Division One side Harold Hill in the early kick-off at Noak Hill 3G.

In the one match in the Reserve League Cup, Herongate Athletic Res got a morale-boosting 2 – 1 victory over Harold Wood Athletic Res, thanks to goals from Kemston Allen and replacement Jasper Stuckey. Josh Portway got the reply for Harold Wood’s Ressie side there but they exited the Cup here.

Hello & welcome to another edition of the Essex Olympian League round-up. This week on Saturday 26 November, we look at the action in all divisions, plus an extra section on the various Cup competitions this weekend.

EOFL Senior Cup

This week we again start with the League Senior Cup. Shenfield AFC progressed with a 4 – 0 victory at local rivals Kelvedon Hatch. Jack Panons struck twice for AFC here, plus Alex Tredgett & Ben Absolon also scored at New Hall. Old Chelmsfordians joined them there after a comprehensive 6 – 1 victory over Beacon Hill Rovers at Lawford Lane.

EOFL Premier Division

In the top-tier this week, Hutton‘s incredible lead at the summit now stands at twelve points after a battling 1 – 0 success at home to Springfield. Luke Ricketts got the only goal for Matt Singh’s side at Chadfields. Rayleigh Town lost ground on the top two after they drew 3 – 3 with Runwell Sports at London Road. Jack Long’s fine treble was not enough to provide the win as strikes by Charlie Little, Oliver Williamson and an OG meant Runwell claimed a point, which keeps them eighth. Leigh Ramblers made it two home wins in consecutive weeks, without conceding a goal after a 3 – 0 victory over Canning Town, who remain second. Strikes by Andrew Webster, Tom Franks & Jamie Skinner meant Mark Hunter’s team rose to fourth spot. The other game saw Old Southendian defeat Bishop’s Stortford Swifts 2 – 1 at Garon Park 3G. Mitchell Ali’s double took them to four straight wins & up to sixth spot. Joe Holt got the reply for Neil Bell’s team.

EOFL Divisions One & Two

Herongate Athletic are up to seventh in the second-tier, after a 2 – 1 home win against Manford Way. Thomas Lambourne & Robbie Allen’s penalty secured the points for Joe Nightingill’s side. In the other game, Corinthians got a major win, as they won 4 – 2 at ACD Utd, which took Chris Stoneham’s team up to third.

In Division Two, Shoebury Town’s lead at the summit fell to five points after a 2 – 2 draw with Catholic Utd Res at Ekco Sports Club. Jack Woodham & Alex Jenkins got the goals for the hosts, but strikes by Daniel Williams & Thomas Elliott meant Utd left with a point, which takes them up to ninth. May & Baker EOFL are five points clear in sixth spot after a 1 – 0 success at home to Hutton Res, with George Stanbrook again on target for Josh Lowbridge’s team. Finally in this division, Hashtag Utd Development are up to second place after a conclusive 9 – 0 triumph against AS Rawreth at Barleylands. Samuel Pratt & Jay Knight both netted doubles for Denis Simpson’s team, with a further ensemble cast of Matthew Gauci, Charlie Simpson, Tony Stevens, Thomas Matthew & substitute Jake Smith all also adding further goals for the Tags’ side.

EOFL Divisions Three, Four & Five

In the fourth-tier, the top two faced each other at Basildon Sports Club, with leaders Basildon Town Res extending their lead to five points after defeating Hullbridge Sports Res 3 – 1. Keith King netted two goals for Bas, with Harry Cowlbeck getting the other. Substitute George Mole netted for the visitors. Third-placed Leigh Town Res are now level on points with Hullbridge after they won 3 – 2 against Buckhurst Hill U23 at John Burrows Rec. Callum Stone got a double for Josh Burrage’s side, with Chris Pope also scoring. Stefanos Ladoukakis & Harvey Woods goals for Hill made it tight but they remain in mid-table. Old Chelmsfordians Res convincingly won 9 – 1 at Corinthians Res to rise to seventh. Lastly, Pitsea Athletic are up to fourth after a 4 – 0 triumph at Springfield Res. Reece Stone scored a double for Trevor Wickens’s team, with Kwadwo Asante and Liam Jeffrey also netting.

Into Division Four now, and Ongar Town went up to seventh after a 2 – 1 victory at Shenfield AFC Res. Ethan Hook & replacement James McLean both scored for Tony West’s team. Paul Constable’s goal accounted for AFC’s reply. Leaders Roydon are still three points clear after a 3 – 1 victory at home to Bishop’s Stortford Swifts Res. Samuel Broen netted for the visitors but a double for Connor Presland plus a goal for replacement Ezra Fields. Collier Row are still second after a 5 – 0 win at Pitsea Athletic Res, while Wakering Sports A are out of the bottom two after a 3 – 0 success over Galleywood Res at Cupid’s.

In Division Five, Wakebury Res continued their decent form with a 5 – 0 triumph over AS Rawreth Res. There were doubles here for Charlie Kernott and Tommy Wolfe, with Jamie Oates also on target for Joe Creak’s side. The other game saw Canning Town Res win 3 – 1 at Sungate Res to go up to sixth.

Hello & welcome to this weekend’s round-up from the action in the Essex Olympian League. This week on Saturday 19 November, we look at the action in all divisions, plus an extra section on the various Cup competitions this weekend.

EOFL Senior Cup

This week we’ll start with the League Senior Cup, where we saw two games. Toby progressed afterr a hard-fought 2 – 1 success at Corinthians, with Jamie Simpkins notching both goals for Mark Jones’ side. Bailey Moss was as ever on the score-sheet for the hosts at Stambridge. Catholic Utd also went through after a 6 – 2 win at home to Manford Way at the Len Forge.

EOFL Premier Division

In the top-tier this week, Hutton remain nine points clear at the summit after a 3 – 0 win at local rivals Shenfield AFC. Brad Freeman, Will Marlowe & Luke Ricketts all scored for Matt Singh’s team at St Martin’s 3G. The Reds have only conceded four league goals in their undefeated ten games thus far, some statistic that is. Runwell Sports also got a much-needed win, as they won 4 – 2 at Kelvedon Hatch. James Dalton netted twice for Rob Hodgson’s side who move up to sixth, with Joe Olley & Gianni Frankis also finding the net to counteract goals for Hatch by Drew Klessa-Smith & Joe Newson. Canning Town are still second after a 1 – 0 win over Bishop’s Stortford Swifts in Beckton.

Lastly in the Prem, Leigh Ramblers defeated Galleywood 4 – 0 in the driving rain at Belfairs. EOFL Divisions One & Two

Division One saw seventeen goals in the three games played. Firstly, leaders Harold Wood Athletic had an enthralling match in their top-two contest with Epping Town, before eventually prevailing 5 – 4 at Harold Wood Rec. James Pottle led the way for the hosts with a treble, added to by goals from Daniel Spittle & Louis Bazely. Epping responded with Scout Bown netting another double, plus strikes by Chris Gormley & replacemement Joe Rickett but Epping are now ten points adrift of Ath. Harold Hill are up to fourth after a 2 – 1 victory over Beacon Hill Rovers at Henderson’s. Jack Sutters got both goals for Billy Cove’s side, with Bradley Morgan replying for Rovers in that game.

The other game saw Old Chelmsfordians maintain their top-four challenge with a 3 – 2 victory against Herongate Athletic at Lawfiord Lane. Adam Cole & George Godfrey both netting for Kurt Smith’s side there.

Into Division Two now, Rayleigh Town Res picked up a huge 4 – 1 win at AS Rawreth to leapfrog them off the bottom & up to seventh spot. Ebeneezer Djan once again led the scorers with a double here, with Matthew Oaten and Samuel Barker also netting here. Leaders Shoebury Town are now six points clear at the top after getting through a hugely-entertaining game at local rivals Old Southendian Res, before emerging with a 7 – 3 victory. Mechack-Kisoka Asuka and Jack Woodham both netted trebles for John Galley & Garry Johnson’s side here, with Luke Jackson also getting the other goal to more than confirm the win. OS’ second side fall to the foot of the table after this result.

Elsewhere, Wakebury picked up a very good 2 – 1 win again Harold Wood Athletic Res at Cupid’s. Will Wheeler netted both goals for Matt Cardy’s side, overhauling Kieron Moynihan’s goal for Ath here. The Berries remain in fourth but other results mean there are three sides on 18 points. May & Baker EOFL won 3 – 1 at home against high-flyers Wakering Sports Res to lift themselves up to sixth. Carl Patten, George Stanbrook & Frankie Warboyes all scored for Josh Lowbridge’s side. Connor Fardyga’s goal was not enough this time to prevent his side losing ground on the leaders Shoebury. Hashtag Utd Dev also got an important win, 5 – 4 at Hutton Res. Chandler Wray scored twice for the Tags side, with Jay Knight, Adam De Cruz and Samuel Pratt goals securing the win which adds to the grip they have on fifth spot currently. Thomas Price’s treble & a Lewis Hall goal were not enough to stop Hutton’s second side from dropping down to third-bottom.

EOFL Divisions Three, Four & Five

In the fourth-tier, Hullbridge Sports Res are in second place on goal difference after a 5 – 3 win at Chingford Athletic Res. Luke Dimond, Leighton Hughes-Franklin & Bilel Benyoucef all netted for Chingford but a treble for Lewis Foster plus goals for Harry Boswell and Jay Knight secured a good win for the visitors. Leigh Town Res are in third after a 4 – 0 win at home to Corinthians Res at John Burrows Rec. Zack Walker, Steve Birnie, Callum Stone & substitute Tommy Clayton all scored for Josh Burrage’s side in that one. Also, Old Chelmsfordians Res won 4 – 1 at Toby Res to go up to third bottom.

Into Division Four now, and Roydon extended their lead at the top to three points after a 2 – 0 victory at Ongar Town. Nader Benzid and substitute Zachary Ogundipe both netted to strengthen the promotion hopefuls’ chances on remaining in the top three. Elsewhere, Collier Row remain second after a goal-less draw with Herongate Athletic Res at Fotest Row, while at Basildon Sporting Village, Pitsea Athletic Res were held 1 – 1 by Leytonstone Utd, who got their first point of the campaign.

In Division Five, Basildon Town A had to overcome a stern test at St Luke’s Park before defeating Runwell Sports Res 3 – 2. Nathan Fisher scored twice for Bas, with Luke Soley also on target to give the visitors a one-point lead at the summit. Manford Way Res are up to second after a 4 – 1 triumph over Shoebury Town Res. The ensemble cast of Luke Bennett, Aaron Clements, George Green & replacement Harvey Brown all netted to ensure the win. Collier Row Res are five points further back in fourth spot after a 3 – 1 success at Canning Town Res. Celso Da Silva, Raheem Bravo & Harry Potts were all on target to secure the points.

Hello & welcome to the round-up from the action in the Essex Olympian League. This week on Saturday 22 October, we look at the action in all divisions, plus an extra section on the Cup competitions this weekend.

EOFL Premier Division

In the top-tier this week, Hutton continue to lead the way as they roared to a 6 – 1 success over Leigh Ramblers at Chadfields. David Johnson struck another two goals here, with Jude Keeling, Jonathan Hilliard and two seperate OG’s adding further gloss to the scoreline for Matt Singh’s team. Rayleigh Town were held 1 – 1 by a Shenfield AFC side who are tough to beat at present. Jack Long got the goal for Town, before later being dismissed. Allan Fenn’s tenure at Springfield began with a 2 – 1 success at home to Bishop Stortford’s Swifts. Olle Gentry and Leonidas Brotherton got big goals ass they got the first win this term. Alfie Bowen replied for Swifts but they still fell to defeat.

The other results saw Canning Town go back up to fourth after a 5 – 0 win at home to kelvedon Hatch and Old Southendian exited the bottom two with a 3 – 2 triumph over Runwell Sports at Garon Park, despite Gianni Frankis and James Dalton goals for Rob Hodgson’s visitors.

EOFL Divisions One & Two

In the second tier, Beacon Hill Rovers won 2 – 1 at struggling Wakering Sports. Semi Akinlolu and Bertie Whymark both scored for the victors there, while Nathan Roche replied for the hosts. Corinthians continue to bag the points with a 3 – 1 success at home to Epping Town. Jordan Stoneham, Leo Clarke and Bailey Moss all found the net there for Chris Stoneham’s team. In other results, ACD Utd were held 3 – 3 by Harold Hill at Westlands, while Herongate Athletic were held 1 – 1 by Harold Wood Athletic. Benjamin Clarke’s penalty supplied Ath’s goal and Matt Donovan levelled things up for John Field’s side.

In Division Two, Wakering Sports Res continued their fine season with a 5 – 1 win at local rivals Catholic Utd Res. Ciaran Sweeney continues to find the net regularly as he got two goals here, and he was supported by goals from Connor Fardyga, Ashley Sexton and substitute Kasey Brannan. Daniel Williams netted the consolation for the Hoops second-team. Hashtag Utd Dev got a terrific 6 – 2 victory at May & Baker EOFL, as Chandler Wray netted two goals himself, along with an ensemble cast including Shaun Warren, Matthew Gauci, Tony Stevens and Samuel Pratt who all netted a goal each. Danny Gillham and Danny Horan got the strikes for Josh Lowbridge’s team. Lastly in this tier, Wakebury got back on form with some style as thewy won 6 – 1 at home to AS Rawreth at Cupid’s. Finlay Dorrell scored a fine treble for Matt Cardy’s team, with Jake Butler, Ben Perry and Harry Kateley also finding the net.

EOFL Divisions Three, Four & Five

In Division Three, the majority of home sides prevailed. Firstly, Basildon Town Res continued their fine start with a 5 – 0 triumph over Tooby Res at Basildon Sports Club. Antony Aylett & Scott Read both got braces here, with Jamie Miller also scoring here. Hullbridge Sports Res also hit five goals in a 5 – 0 victory over Springfield Res. Nicholas Sherlock netted twice here, with the supporting cast of Harry Mole, Harry Boswell and Lewis Foster all got a goal each. Pitsea Athletic also were successful with a 4 – 2 win over Old Chelmsfordians Res at Basildon Sporting Village. Lee Mulholland and Declan Peters both scored to give the OC’s a chance but a treble for Joshua Oteng and one for substitute Reece Stone comfirmed the points for Ath. Lastly in D3, Leigh Town Res now take on the mantle as their ‘lead’ side and they won 2 – 1 at Chingford Athletic Res. Liam Wragg and Kyras Harris both struck to give Josh Burrage’s side the win at Town Mead.

Moving into Division Four, Bishop’s Stortford Swifts Res ggot a big 4 – 1 win over Leytonstone Utd at Silver Leys. Matt Kemp was the hat-trick hero for the hosts, with Harry Senior also finding the net. William Medlock got the consolation for Utd. Ongar Town also got a much-needed victory with a resounding 5 – 0 triumph against Wakering Sports A at Marks Hall. Billy Welch struck four goals for Town there, with Samuel Flynn also on target there. Other results in the division included Collier Row’s 4 – 1 home win against Galleywood Res and a 2 – 1 victory for Shenfield AFC Res at Leigh Ramblers Res.

In Division Five, Basildon Town A continued to impress with an 8 – 1 success at Epping Town Res. Donnel Kujingaadded to his impressive goal haul this term with another treble, with Nathan Fisher, Luke Soley, Benjamin Farrant, Charlie Jarvis and Kyanou Stylianou rounding out the list of scorers. Joe Bothwell’s goal was a good moment personally but Epping had no answer in this match. Manford Way Res got a 2 – 0 victory at home to Collier Row Res. with Luke Bennett and Charlie Thomas the scorers there. Meanwhile, Wakebury Res had a strike by replacement Kieran Wheal to thank for a 1 – 0 win at Canning Town Res. Also, Runwell Sports Res won 6 — 1 at AS Rawreth Res.

Cup Section

In EOFL Senior Lge Cup – Old Chelmsfordians 3 – 2 Shoebury Town

In the EOFL Reserve Lge Cup, Rayleigh Town Res bossed their tie as they defeated Pitsea Athletic Res 6 – 1 at London Road. Calvin Armstrong and Ebeneezer Djan both scored twice, with Harry Herbert and Daniel Beestone also on target for Dave Barker’s side. The other result saw Old Southendian Res progress with a 4 – 2 win at Sungate Res.

In the Anagram Records Trophy, Catholic Utd progressed in the late kick-off with a 2 – 1 win at Tottenhoe, thanks largely to Aaron Baldwin’s brace at the Rec. Galleywood also made the next round with a fine 5 – 1 victory over Sudbury Sports. Ben Smith scored two goals here, with Craig Skipper, Roman Sparks and Jamie Lockwood all finding the net as well. Sungate also went through with a 4 – 1 win at EAL Senior side Sporting Hackney.

EOFL – Saturday 24 September

EOFL Premier Division & Division One

In the top-tier, Catholic Utd remain in second after a 4 – 1 win at Kelvedon Hatch. Liam Oliver grabbed a fine treble to lead the way for Simon Thomas’ side, with Harrison Day also notching at New Hall. Sungate also got a super win, 5 – 1 at home to Springfield with Josh Addinall and Solomon Asomah both netting twice here, alongside substitute Jake Willis’ strike. Rayleigh Town remain in the early promotion race after a 2 – 0 win at Canning Town. Sonny Woodward and Philip Anunwa strikes were enough to see Paul Higgins’ side to the win, despite goalkeeper Mark Brown being sent off.

In the other results this week, Runwell Sports won 4 – 0 at Bishop’s Stortford Swifts and Leigh Ramblers were held 1 – 1 at home by Toby. Scott Clark’s goal for the Rams were cancelled out by another goal for Oliver Dingli.

In Division One, Harold Wood Athletic‘s fine start continued as they powered past Harold Hill 6 – 1 in their local derby. James Pottle netted twice, with the supporting cast of Ben Woolven, Billy Gray, Max Shepherd & Dan Spittle all also on target for John Field’s team. Herongate Athletic were held 3 – 3 by Old Chelmsfordians at St Clere’s Sch 3G. Matthew Keiller, George Godfrey and Benjamin Clarke’s spot-kick accounted for the hosts’ goals, but a brace from Joe Murphy and one from Shane Pritchardmean the OC’s left with a point. The other result this week was ACD Utd’s 1 – 1 draw with Manford Way.

EOFL Divisions Two & Three

In the Division Two matches of the week, Shoebury Town got their second consecutive victory with a hard-fought 4 – 3 win at Catholic Utd Res. Enoch Gyimah scored twice for Town, with Aaron Marshall & Takondwa Maosa also on the score-sheet. Hutton Res stayed third after a 2 – 2 draw with Rayleigh Town Res at Polo Fields. David Johnson scored both goals for the hosts, with John Hanrahan & substitute Jack Taylor levelling things up for Dave Barker’s side. May & Baker‘s EOFL side got their first win with a 3 – 0 victory at Wakebury. Darren Seymour, Jack O’Connor & an OG were enough to deny the Berries a chance to climb into the top three.

The other results were leaders Wakering Sports Res winning 2 – 0 at home to Hashtag Utd Dev at Cupid’s and AS Rawreth’s 3 – 2 success over Harold Wood Athletic Res, which sent the hosts into mid-table.

In Division Three, Buckhurst Hill U23 emerged with a 4 – 3 victory at Chingford Athletic Res at Town Mead. Bradley Croft scored a fine treble for the visitors there, with Enis Demirbala adding the other Buckhurst goal. Despite having Jack Barnes sent off and Luke Dimond bagging yet anotyer hat-trick for the hosts, the Hill development side held on to stay third in the table. Leigh Town Res also kept up their decent start with a 3 – 2 success at Corinthians Res. Tehm Vapiwala, Callum Keys and Steve Birnie all netted for Josh Burrage’s side, who ended the game with ten men after Patrick Szabo’s dismissal.

Elsewhere, Hullbridge Sports Res were denied going joint-top on goal difference as they were held 1 – 1 at strugglers Old Chelmsfordians Res. George Prentice got the important goal for the hosts at Lawford Lane, while Joe Ives replied for Hullbridge, who stay second. The other game saw Toby Res held 0 – 0 by leaders Pitsea Athletic. Both of the top two sides are still unbeaten.

EOFL Divisions Four & Five

In the solitary Division Four match, Bishop’s Stortford Swifts Res got a decent 2 – 0 victory at Ongar Town. Goals from Lewis Wake and David Falzon meant the visitors leapt into mid-table.

In Division Five, Manford Way Res went up to fourth spot after a 2 – 1 home victory over Wakebury Res. Luke Bennett notched two goals here to outdo Luke Abbott’s reply for Joe Creak’s side. Epping Town Res got their first win of the season afs they defeated AS Rawreth Res 3 – 2 at Roding Valley Sch 3G. Joe Bothwell scored twice for the hosts, which Paranveer Sethi added a third for Epping. Lucas Winzar kept up his decent scoring record by scoring both goals for the Rawreth second-side. The other result saw Canning Town Res win 3 – 0 at home against Shoebury Town Res.

Essex Premier Cup R1

So the EPC had one more fixture this week with Shenfield AFC winning 3 – 1 at Basildon Town Res. Jack Shaw, Aaron Lang and Alfie MacKay all netted here for the visitors as they progressed.

Essex Junior Cup

In the Junior Cup, Roydon put up a strong fight but are out after a 4 – 3 loss at Sheering after extra time. Connor Presland scored twice for the EOFL side, with Nicholas Costagliola adding the other strike but a double for Matt Coe, plus goals from Jordan King & Dan Bryant saw the hosts through. Galleywood Res are also through after a 2 – 0 triumph at South Woodham Ferrers Utd. Diogo Viveiros & Ashley Merritt both netting there.

Hello & welcome to the round-up from the action in the Essex Olympian League. This week on Saturday 17 September, we look at the action in all six divisions, plus an extra section on the Essex Premier Cup which also got underway once again this weekend. The above image is taken from a fine minute’s silence observed to mark Queen Elizabeth II, at Rayleigh Town v Leigh Ramblers as was the case at all EOFL matches and elsewhere this weekend.

EOFL Premier Division & Division One

We start this week in the top-tier with Toby‘s 3 – 2 win over Bishop’s Stortford Swifts at the Nursery Sports Ground. Jamie Simpkins, Oliver Dingli and Luis Ruiz’s spot-kick were enough to send Mark Jones’ team to victory, overhauling goals from Jordan Robertson and Jack Clarke for Swifts to confirm the points. Hutton had a Stephen Judge goal to thank for a 1 – 0 win over Old Southendian at Chadfields which keeps them top by three points.

In the match I saw myself at Thames Road, Rayleigh Town left it late to secure a comeback 4 – 3 win over Leigh Ramblers in a superb match. Frank Hession-Harris, Will Baldry, Harry Talbot and substitute Philip Anunwa’s strike overturned a brace from Andrew Webster and a stunner from Scott Clark to grab the points. S22-23 Match Report: Rayleigh Town 4 – 3 Leigh Ramblers (Sat 17 Sept) [EOFL Prem 22-23 18.9.22]

Finally in the Premier, Springfield were held 2 – 2 by Canning Town. Emmanuel Etcheri and Arinze Ossai both netted for Franco Zabotti’s side.

In Division One, Harold Wood Athletic continued their fine form with a 5 – 0 victory over Wakering Sports at Cupid’s. James Pottle netted twice again here, with the supporting cast of Leroy Griffiths, Billy Gray and Connor Sheehan all netting for John Field’s team, who are three points clear at the summit. Corinthians sit second after a 4 – 2 success at home to Herongate Athletic. Bailey Moss netted another fine treble here for Chris Stoneham’s team, with Max Jones adding the other after coming off the bench. Both the top two remain unbeaten.

Still in the second-tier, Manford Way got their first win of the new term in some style as they won 5 – 1 at home to Leigh Town. David Alele, Richard Kadima, Dawid Potoczek, Alfie Smith and substitute Samuel Oramadike all scored to secure the win. Zack Walker got the consolation goal in what proved to be boss Antony Lane’s last game in charge, I’d like to wish him well for the future.

EOFL Divisions Two & Three

In the only Division Two match this week, Harold Wood Athletic Res were too strong on this day as they defeated May & Baker EOFL 5 – 2 at Harold Wood Rec. Thomas Butler scored twice here for the hosts, with substitutes Del Hawtin, Lennie Milton-White & Sam Tampkins all netting as well.

In Division Three, Hullbridge Sports Res were a rare side who handed Bickhurst Hill U23 a defeat at home, with Hullbridge winning 3 – 2. Joe Tuskin scored twice for the Sports’ developmental side, and Jay Knight was once again on the score-sheet. Stefanos Ladoukakis and Jack Barnes goals made it tight but ultimately the Buckhurst developmental side fell to defeat. Also, Leigh Town Res were 2 – 0 winners at Old Chelmsfordians Res, with Chris Pope and substitute Nathan Cox on target for Josh Burrage’s side. Lastly in Division Three, Pitsea Athletic were 3 – 1 victors over Springfield Res at Basildon Sports Club. Liam Jeffrey netted twice here, with replacement Carlos Dias adding his name on the score-sheet. Harrison Elles responded for the visitors.

EOFL Divisions Four & Five

Moving into Division Four now, Roydon continued their decent start with a 1 – 0 win away at Shenfield AFC Res. Rene Pivarnik was the hero as they celebrated another welcome win. Leigh Ramblers Res also got a huge win with an 8 – 0 triumph over Ongar Town at Belfairs. Substitute Temi Adebayo struck three goals here, with Luis Bracci adding two goals plus there was one goal each for Taylor Stewart, Matthew Pooley and replacement Cameron Jarvis. Bishop’s Stortford Swifts Res also got maximum points with a 4 – 1 win over Galleywood Res at Silver Leys. Substitute Matt Kemp led the charge with two goals, with Henry Harnack and Matthew Allen adding to the visitors’ pain.

Elsewhere in Division Four, Herongate Athletic Res got all three points with a 4 – 0 victory over Pitsea Athletic Res at St Clere’s 3G. Kai Redmond scored twice here, with Kemston Allen and Kieron Wilson-Fowler also finding the net in this good win. The other game saw Collier Row grab a huge 7 – 1 victory over Wakering Sports Res at Forest Row Centre.

In Division Five, Basildon Town A got a big 7 – 0 triumph at AS Rawreth Res, with Harry Payne scoring a treble, Scott Read adding two goals and Rodney Wilson getting the other strike. Wakebury Res also got three points, as they won 2 – 1 at Shoebury Town Res. Tommy Wolfe got both goals for Joe Creak’s team there. The other result saw Runwell Sports Res defeat Epping Town Res 5 – 0 at St Luke’s Park. Benjamin See and substitute Wallace Hoyi both netted twice here, with Alex Gray grabbing the other goal.

Essex Premier Cup R1

So the EPC got underway with the various leagues at Step 7 of the pyramid (Essex Olympian, Essex Alliance, Essex & Suffolk Border etc) facing each other as well as some Reserve sides. We begin our in-focus look at seven matches with Shoebury Town‘s superb 5 – 1 victory over Olympian League local rivals Old Southendian Res. Kyle McAlindon came off the bench to score twice for Garry Johnson & John Galley’s team here, with Kian Bradshaw, Aaron Marshall and Enoch Gyimah also finding the net. Jack Pagett’s goal for the OS side did little to inspire them unfortunately.

In the lunchtime game, Catholic Utd negoiated a tricky trip to Barking U23 as Utd prrevailed 4 – 0 at Mayesbrook Park 3G. Louis Robinson, Franklin Craik, Ben Burrows and James Warder all netted for Simon Thomas’ team as they progressed. Beacon Hill Rovers went through thanks to a 3 – 2 win over Saffron Walden Town Res with Charles Brewer, Ashley Hill and Jack Walker all netting for the victors there. Harold Hill also had a good day, as they defeated fellow Olympian side AS Rawreth 4 – 1. Robbie Farrell, Charles Georgiou, Joe Killingback and Freddie Madle all score to see Billy Cove’s side through.

ACD Utd also went through after despatching Belle Vue SC 4 – 1 at Westlands. Jacob Dingli scored twice here for Michael Wade’s team, with Scott Perkins and an OG accounting for the other goals. Galleywood were made to work hard for their 3 – 2 victory over West Essex Development, with Roman Sparks’ double leading the way and Ben Smith also notching for the hosts there. Lastly for this week, Old Chelmsfordians progressed with a 3 – 1 success over Takeley Res. The trio of Max Johnson, Shane Pritchard and Greg Strong were all on target to see the hosts through. Alfie Nicholls got the solitary reply for the ESL Reserve side.

Hello all and welcome to my round-up of the action in the Essex Olympian League, on Saturday 15 January. This week, the league action returned for the majority of teams, in addition to a smattering of matches in several Cup competitions. Essex Olympian League Round-up – Saturday 15 January

EOFL Premier Division & Division One

In the top-tier, with most of the top seven sides in Cup action, Rayleigh Town went back up to third spot with a 2 – 1 success at home to Shenfield AFC. Liam Oliver’s strike and a spot-kick from Harry Talbot was enough to overpower Perry Robinson’s goal for AFC and get the points. Kelvedon Hatch narrowly defeated Springfield 1 – 0 at New Hall, with Chris Denham’s solitary strike enough to send Darren Hunt’s team up to fourth spot.

Also in the Premier Division, Bishop’s Stortford Swifts went up to eighth in the table with a 3 – 1 home win against strugglers Canning Town at Silver Leys. Lawrence Healey’s double and Sam Chaney’s 12th league goal this term was enough for Craig Glashan’s side here. In Division One, Runwell Sports increased their lead tat the top to six points with a 2 – 0 win at fellow top four side Toby. Oliver Quick and substitute Luca Frankis got the goals to give Rob Hodgson’s side their tenth win of the season.

Meanwhile, Corinthians rose to third spot after a hugely important 5 – 3 triumph at Epping Town. Bailey Moss netted four goals here to take his tally to 21 in the league this term, with Cameron Glover also finding the net. Snaresbrook gained ground on Epping in the bottom four after a 2 – 1 win at home to Herongate Athletic.

EOFL Senior League Cup

There was another six matches in the Senior Cup this week, with ACD Utd more than securing their spot in the next round with a 14 – 0 triumph over Rochford Town at Westlands. There were no less than three hat-tricks for the hosts, from Shaun Goddard, Warren Taylor and from substitute Jacob Dingli. Samuel Payne added a pair, with strikes by Charlie Munns, Shaun Farrow & an OG completing a crushing victory for Greg Knock’s side. Galleywood also progressed with a 4 – 2 success at local rivals Old Chelmsfordians, with the ensemble cast of Freddie Bartram, Thomas Watling, Ben Smith and replacement Matthew Buckingham all on target in a good win at Lawford Lane.

Elsewhere, Wakering Sports prevailed with a 3 – 1 win against Manford Way at Cupid’s. Joseph Barton and substitutes Alfie Fossett & Mohammed Sesay all netted for Mitchell Gleeson’s team, outweighing a strike in response for Manford by David Alele. Catholic Utd won the battle of the Premier Division sides at the Len Forge, as they narrowly defeated Ongar Town 3 – 2. The other two matches played went all the way to spot-kicks. First, Sungate edged an epic penalty shoot-out after they drew 3 – 3 with Old Southendian. The East London side won the shoot-out 13 – 12 to get through to the next stage. At John Burrows Recreation Ground, Leigh Town won the 12-yard contest 4 – 3 after a goalless draw with Harold Wood Athletic. And Chingford Athletic went through via a walkover as Beacon Hill Rovers were unable to contest their fixture.

Essex Premier Cup – Last 16

The last remaining match in the EPC Last 16 saw Basildon Town launch another stirring comeback to win 2 – 1 at home to Hutton at Basildon Sports Club. An OG gave Matt Singh’s side the advantage, though a brace from the ever goal-hungry player-boss Marcus Bowers meant that Town made the quarter-finals. EOFL Divisions Two & Three

Moving back into the League action in Division Two, Old Southendian Res moved up to fourth place with a 3 – 1 win over May & Baker A in the late kick-off at Garon Park. Thomas Margerison, Oliver Tatton-Bennett and Sean Simmonett all scored for Josh Bambury’s team here. Also, Shoebury Town got a 2 – 1 success at Harold Wood Athletic Res, with player-boss Garry Johnson and replacement Kyle McAlindon netting at the Robert Clack Sch 3G. This win keeps them in sixth spot.

In Division Three, Wakering Sports Res strengthened their hold on third place with a 5 – 1 triumph at Collier Row. Connor Fardyga got another double to reach 18 league goals this term, with David Watson reaching 15 league goals thanks to a brace as well, with substitute Eben Rowledge also notching. Leigh Town Res also got a 5 – 1 win away from home, as they defeated Corinthians Res at Stambridge. Lewis Brooks, Zack Walker, Chris Pope, Jack Pearman & replacement Callum Stone all scored for Josh Burrage’s new side.

Elsewhere, Hashtag Utd Development remain four points clear in second spot as they won 1 – 0 at improving Buckhurst Hill U23, with Shaun Warren getting the only goal in that game. Finally, Catholic Utd Res retained their three point lead at the summit as they won 7 – 2 against Pitsea Athletic at Basildon Sports Village.

EOFL Divisions Four & Five

In Division Four, Galleywood Res got a fine 4 – 0 victory over Leytonstone Utd at Slades Lane. Replacement Oliver Sadler netted twice for the hosts here, with Bradley Taylor and Clarke Green also adding a goal each. Roydon were held 1 – 1 at home to Old Chelmsfordians Res, with Connor Riddoch once again on the score-sheet for Roydon. And Wakering Sports A came away with a big 6 – 1 triumph over strugglers Canning Town Res, who now haven’t won since the opening match of the campaign. Lewis Brooks fired in a treble here for the Sports development side, with Harry Groves, Danny Pallett and Adam Smith also scoring.
