S22-23 Round-ups: Essex Olympian Lge (Sat 29 Oct) [EOFL 22-23 31.10.22]

Hello & welcome to the latest round-up from the action in the Essex Olympian League. This week on Saturday 29 October, we look at the action in all divisions, plus an extra section on Senior League Cup games this weekend. EOFL Premier Division

Firstly in the top-tier, Hutton extended their lead at the summit to nine points after a 2 – 1 win against Canning Town at Chadfields. Stephen Judge & substitute Brad Freeman got the crucial goals for Matt Singh’s side whgo are really pushing the pressure onto the chasing pack. Kelvedon Hatch got a important success as they defeated secopnd-placed Rayleigh Town 3 – 1 at New Hall. Drew Klessa-Smith scored a double, along with a goal for James Burt for Darren Hunt’s side. Hatch are up to 10th. Shenfield AFC continued their good recent form, with a 2 – 1 success against Catholic Utd at St Martins. Ben Absolon & Ben Carroll both netted to outdo substitute James Warder’s reply for Simon Thomas’ side.

Lastly, Sungate powered their way to a 3 – 1 win at Toby. Substitute Petrit Elbi scored two goals here, with Lee Samwys adding the other to see the ‘Gate up to seventh. Jamie Simpkins got the consolation for Mark Jones’ side in that game.

EOFL Divisions One & Two

The only match in Division One this week saw Beacon Hill Rovers draw 4 – 4 with Manford Way. Jack Walker’s double plus strikes by Bertie Whymark & Semi Akinlolu accounted for the Rovers goals but a goal each for Samuel Oramadike, David Alele, Joshua Owoaje and Richard Kadima ensured Manford took a point.

In Division Two this week, Shoebury Town got a important & hard-fought 3 – 1 victory over Hutton Res at Ekco Sports Club. Mechack-Kisoka Ausuka netted a double here for John Galley & Garry Johnson’s side, with Luke Jackson scoring a late penalty. Will Marlowe had earlier kept Hutton in the game. Wakering Sports Res are three points clear of Shoebury at the summit after a 4 – 0 success over Harold Wood Athletic Res. Liam Jarrett notched a double, with Connor Fardyga’s 6th league goal and Charlie Smith also on on target. In other results, May & Baker EOFL defeated Catholic Utd Res 4 – 0 and Old Southendian Res won 5 – 1 against Rayleigh Twn Res at Garon Park 3G.

EOFL Divisions Three, Four & Five

Into Division Three now, Basildon Town Res are the new leaders after an impressive 5 – 2 triumph at Buckhurst Hill U23. Louis Hill got a double, with Ashley Drury, Jamie Miller and replacement Keith King also netted for the visitors. Harvey Woods & Jack Ferris goals responded for Buckhurst there. Corinthians Res got their first win of the term as they defeated Toby Res 2 – 1 at Stambridge. Kian Hayter & Leo Clarke got the goals for the hosts. Old Chelmsfordians Res also got their first win with a 1 – 0 victory at Springfield Res. Also, Leigh Town Res were held 1 – 1 by Hulllbridge Res at John Burrows Rec. Chris Pope scored for Town, with Joe Tuskin’s 5th league goal replying for ‘Bridge.

Moving into Division Four now, Herongate Athletic Res remain five points clear in third after a 1 – 1 draw at Shenfield AFC Res. Habeeb Apatira’s fifth league goal accounted for Ath’s goal, with Ben Cawood levelling the game for AFC. Collier Row lead the way at the summit on goal difference with a 3 – 1 win at BIshop’s Stortford Swifts Res. Matt Kemp’s sixth league goal was the consolation for Swifts there. Wakering Sports A drew 3 – 3 with Pitsea Athletic Res at Cupid’s. Joseph Young, Alfie Grove & substitute James Clark got Wakering’s goals, but strikes for Carlos Dias, Precious Aminu & Paul Gunn meant Ath left with a point.

Finally in Division Five, leaders Basildon Town A made it six wins from six after a 2 – 1 win over Sungate Res at Basildon Sports Club. Donnel Kujinga scored another double to reach 11 league goals already, and James Oderinde netted for the visitors. Manford Way Res are two points behind in second after a 6 – 0 home win over AS Rawreth Res. Luke Bennett grabbed a fine treble, with a brace for Charlie Webb & Callum Thomas also on target. Collier Row Res are well-placed in fourth after a resounding 7 – 0 win at Runwell Sports Res. Celso Da Silva netted twice for Row, with the ensemble cast of Raheem Bravo, George Coker, Harry Potts, Eric Eze & Ryan Costello also scoring.

EOFL Senior League Cup

There were several matches in the Senior League Cup this weekend. Harold Wood Athletic made sure of their place in the next round with a 2 – 0 win against spirited Roydon at Harold Wood Park. Ben Woolven and Owen Edwards were the scorers for John Field’s team. Springfield got their second consecutive win in all competitions as they won 4 – 0 at Ongar Town. Replacement Tristan Ofori-Sampong nabbed two goals for Allan Fenn’s side, with Cameron Brown and Harrison Elles also netting after comiing off the bench. Runwell Sports got a much-needed victory with a 5 – 1 success at Galleywood. The scorers for Rob Hodgson’s side included Jamie Philbrick, Charlie Little, Ollie Quick and Oliver Williamson. Freddie Bartram got the solitary reply for the hosts at Slades Lane.

Elsewhere, Bishop’s Stortford Swifts also got an important win against lower division opposition in Pitsea Athletic. Alfie Bowen’s brace and one from substitute Jordan Trott enabled Swifts to get a 3 – 2 victory. Leigh Ramblers also went through with a 1 – 0 victory over ACD Utd at Belfairs, with Andrew Webster again the hero for the Rams. Hashtag Utd Development also went through after a hard-fought 4 – 3 win over Epping Town after extra time. Lastly, Harold Hill went through with a 5 – 1 success at Leytonstone Utd. Ryan O’Connell grabbed another two goals here, with substitute James Bayo also scoring a brace, alongside one for Troy Tizard-Cleghorn. William Medlock was the scorer for Utd at Forest Row.

Hello & welcome to the round-up from the action in the Essex Olympian League. This week on Saturday 22 October, we look at the action in all divisions, plus an extra section on the Cup competitions this weekend.

EOFL Premier Division

In the top-tier this week, Hutton continue to lead the way as they roared to a 6 – 1 success over Leigh Ramblers at Chadfields. David Johnson struck another two goals here, with Jude Keeling, Jonathan Hilliard and two seperate OG’s adding further gloss to the scoreline for Matt Singh’s team. Rayleigh Town were held 1 – 1 by a Shenfield AFC side who are tough to beat at present. Jack Long got the goal for Town, before later being dismissed. Allan Fenn’s tenure at Springfield began with a 2 – 1 success at home to Bishop Stortford’s Swifts. Olle Gentry and Leonidas Brotherton got big goals ass they got the first win this term. Alfie Bowen replied for Swifts but they still fell to defeat.

The other results saw Canning Town go back up to fourth after a 5 – 0 win at home to kelvedon Hatch and Old Southendian exited the bottom two with a 3 – 2 triumph over Runwell Sports at Garon Park, despite Gianni Frankis and James Dalton goals for Rob Hodgson’s visitors.

EOFL Divisions One & Two

In the second tier, Beacon Hill Rovers won 2 – 1 at struggling Wakering Sports. Semi Akinlolu and Bertie Whymark both scored for the victors there, while Nathan Roche replied for the hosts. Corinthians continue to bag the points with a 3 – 1 success at home to Epping Town. Jordan Stoneham, Leo Clarke and Bailey Moss all found the net there for Chris Stoneham’s team. In other results, ACD Utd were held 3 – 3 by Harold Hill at Westlands, while Herongate Athletic were held 1 – 1 by Harold Wood Athletic. Benjamin Clarke’s penalty supplied Ath’s goal and Matt Donovan levelled things up for John Field’s side.

In Division Two, Wakering Sports Res continued their fine season with a 5 – 1 win at local rivals Catholic Utd Res. Ciaran Sweeney continues to find the net regularly as he got two goals here, and he was supported by goals from Connor Fardyga, Ashley Sexton and substitute Kasey Brannan. Daniel Williams netted the consolation for the Hoops second-team. Hashtag Utd Dev got a terrific 6 – 2 victory at May & Baker EOFL, as Chandler Wray netted two goals himself, along with an ensemble cast including Shaun Warren, Matthew Gauci, Tony Stevens and Samuel Pratt who all netted a goal each. Danny Gillham and Danny Horan got the strikes for Josh Lowbridge’s team. Lastly in this tier, Wakebury got back on form with some style as thewy won 6 – 1 at home to AS Rawreth at Cupid’s. Finlay Dorrell scored a fine treble for Matt Cardy’s team, with Jake Butler, Ben Perry and Harry Kateley also finding the net.

EOFL Divisions Three, Four & Five

In Division Three, the majority of home sides prevailed. Firstly, Basildon Town Res continued their fine start with a 5 – 0 triumph over Tooby Res at Basildon Sports Club. Antony Aylett & Scott Read both got braces here, with Jamie Miller also scoring here. Hullbridge Sports Res also hit five goals in a 5 – 0 victory over Springfield Res. Nicholas Sherlock netted twice here, with the supporting cast of Harry Mole, Harry Boswell and Lewis Foster all got a goal each. Pitsea Athletic also were successful with a 4 – 2 win over Old Chelmsfordians Res at Basildon Sporting Village. Lee Mulholland and Declan Peters both scored to give the OC’s a chance but a treble for Joshua Oteng and one for substitute Reece Stone comfirmed the points for Ath. Lastly in D3, Leigh Town Res now take on the mantle as their ‘lead’ side and they won 2 – 1 at Chingford Athletic Res. Liam Wragg and Kyras Harris both struck to give Josh Burrage’s side the win at Town Mead.

Moving into Division Four, Bishop’s Stortford Swifts Res ggot a big 4 – 1 win over Leytonstone Utd at Silver Leys. Matt Kemp was the hat-trick hero for the hosts, with Harry Senior also finding the net. William Medlock got the consolation for Utd. Ongar Town also got a much-needed victory with a resounding 5 – 0 triumph against Wakering Sports A at Marks Hall. Billy Welch struck four goals for Town there, with Samuel Flynn also on target there. Other results in the division included Collier Row’s 4 – 1 home win against Galleywood Res and a 2 – 1 victory for Shenfield AFC Res at Leigh Ramblers Res.

In Division Five, Basildon Town A continued to impress with an 8 – 1 success at Epping Town Res. Donnel Kujingaadded to his impressive goal haul this term with another treble, with Nathan Fisher, Luke Soley, Benjamin Farrant, Charlie Jarvis and Kyanou Stylianou rounding out the list of scorers. Joe Bothwell’s goal was a good moment personally but Epping had no answer in this match. Manford Way Res got a 2 – 0 victory at home to Collier Row Res. with Luke Bennett and Charlie Thomas the scorers there. Meanwhile, Wakebury Res had a strike by replacement Kieran Wheal to thank for a 1 – 0 win at Canning Town Res. Also, Runwell Sports Res won 6 — 1 at AS Rawreth Res.

Cup Section

In EOFL Senior Lge Cup – Old Chelmsfordians 3 – 2 Shoebury Town

In the EOFL Reserve Lge Cup, Rayleigh Town Res bossed their tie as they defeated Pitsea Athletic Res 6 – 1 at London Road. Calvin Armstrong and Ebeneezer Djan both scored twice, with Harry Herbert and Daniel Beestone also on target for Dave Barker’s side. The other result saw Old Southendian Res progress with a 4 – 2 win at Sungate Res.

In the Anagram Records Trophy, Catholic Utd progressed in the late kick-off with a 2 – 1 win at Tottenhoe, thanks largely to Aaron Baldwin’s brace at the Rec. Galleywood also made the next round with a fine 5 – 1 victory over Sudbury Sports. Ben Smith scored two goals here, with Craig Skipper, Roman Sparks and Jamie Lockwood all finding the net as well. Sungate also went through with a 4 – 1 win at EAL Senior side Sporting Hackney.

Hello & welcome to the round-up from the action in the Essex Olympian League. This week on Saturday 15 October, we look at the action in all divisions, plus an extra section on the Cup competitions this weekend. There was no Action in Divisions Three & Five this week.

EOFL Premier Division

Firstly in the top-tier, Hutton are four points clear at the summit after a 2 – 0 victory at Canning Town. Sean O’Callaghan got both goals for Matt Singh’s side. Catholic Utd are third after a 2 – 0 success over Springfield at Len Forge Centre. Aaron Baldwin and Franklin Craik both scored for Simon Thomas’ team. Springfield have subsequently announced that Allan Fenn will be their new manager, I’d like to wish him well in his new role.

Meanwhile, Toby went into mid-table with a 2 – 1 triumph over Galleywood at the Nursery Sports Ground. Dean Maguchu and Luis Ruiz goals were enough for the win. Zane Liles got the goal back for ‘Wood there. Sungate also got an important three points with a 2 – 1 win at home to Kelvedon Hatch. Substitute Dawood Ghafar scored for Hatch but goals for Solomon Asomah & stalwart Petrit Elbi ensured the points stayed in East London. There was also an important victory for Bishop’s Stortford Swifts as they defeated Old Southendian 2 – 1 at Silver Leys. Mitchell Burr got both goals to outdo Mitchell Ali’s reply for OS.

And lastly, Shenfield AFC continued their decent start to the season with a 1 – 0 victory at Runwell Sports. Marc Holland got the only goal for Kevin Williamson & Luke Williamson’s side, in the match that I attended this weekend. EOFL Divisions One & Two

In Division One, Herongate Athletic got a good 3 – 0 victory at Epping Town, with Benjamin Clarke, Frankie Aston and substitute Harvey Yellop all on target for Kurt Smith’s team. Old Chelmsfordians won 2 – 0 at Wakering Sports at Cupid’s and finally, Harold Wood Athletic continued their great season’s start with a 4 – 3 home win over Beacon Hill Rovers. Billy Gray’s penalty plus strikes by Max Shepherd, Jacob Roberts and Connor Sheehan ensured the points. Ben Prentice, Harry Hearn & Ben Jackman all netted for Rovers in that game.

In Division Two this week, Shoebury Town got a big 6 – 0 win over May & Baker at Cupid’s. Kian Bradshaw again led the line well with a treble, with substitute Luke Antoine adding two goals and there was a goal for Callum Merenda also. Hashtag Utd Development also got a good win, 2 – 0 at Old Southendian Res with Tommy Green & Matthew Gauci the goal-scorers at Garon Park 3G. Elsewhere, Rayleigh Town Res edged to a 3 – 2 success at home to Wakebury. Jack Long & replacements Calvin Armstrong and Harry Herbert were all on the score-sheet for Dave Barker’s side. Finlay Dorrell got both goals for the Berries here.

Finally, Wakering Sports Res grabbed an impressive 7 – 1 victory at AS Rawreth. Steven Valente & Connor Fardyga got braces apiece for the visitors, with Sam Shenstone, Ciaran Sweeney & Eben Rowledge also on target. Billy Brown got the goal for Rawreth.

EOFL Division Four

Moving into Division Four now, Roydon got the win in the only league match this weekend. They won 4 – 1 at Pitsea Athletic Res, Mike Hayes scored twice for the victors, with Nader Benzid and substitute Ryan Knowles also netting. Replacement Rinor Zeqiri did get a goal back for the Ath second-side.

EOFL Senior League Cup

There were two matches in the SLC. Firstly, Corinthians put in a very strong showing with a 8 – 0 victory at Buckhurst Hill U23. Bailey Moss & Max Jones both scored trebles for Chris Stoneham’s team. Connor Summerhill and Jordan Stoneham were also on target at Roding Lane as the Division One side went through. In the other game, Manford Way defeated Basildon Town Res 5 – 1 at the London Marathon Sports Ground. Samuel Oramadike, James Dobson, Dawid Potoczek plus substitutes Harry Davison & Harvey Brown were all on the scorers’ sheet. Jack Main got a consolation strike for the visitors.

Essex Reserve League Cup

In the EOFL Ressie Cup, Collier Row Res continued their good season with a thumping 9 – 2 victory over Epping Town Res at Forest Row. Raheem Bravo & Ryan Costello both netted hat-tricks, while Jordan Lee got a double and Harry Potts also notched. Catholic Utd Res also progressed with a 5 – 0 home win over Manford Way Res. Finlay Grant, Dabniel Williams, Matt Creevy & Ryan Morgan were all on target for the hosts.

Hello all and welcome to my round-up of the action in the Essex Olympian League, on Saturday 12 March. This weekend saw a promotion confirmed in the match I saw first-hand. As ever, there was a number of competitions being played (the EOFL Senior Cup, Reserve League Cup, Ressie Trophy, Denny King Memorial Cup & Essex Premier Cup), our focus remains on the League action. This week, the focus is on the League action once again, and we will have additional sections on Divisions Three, Four & Five plus the Reserve League Cup.

Essex Olympian Lge – Saturday 12 March

EOFL Premier Division, Divisions One & Two

As ever, we begin with the Step 7 Premier Division. Ongar Town went four points clear at the summit with a 1 – 0 win over Shenfield AFC. Jake Chadwick got the crucial goal to ensure Richard Ponsford’s team added to the pressure for the chasing pack, most of which have games in hand looking to overhaul them. Rayleigh Town remain second on goal difference after an impressive 5 – 0 win at Galleywood. Club skipper George Vile scored twice for Paul Higgins’ side here, while Harry Higgins, Harry Talbot and Charlie Seaden all also netted. Basildon Town are level on points with Rayleigh in third after an excellent 6 – 0 triumph at home to Bishop’s Stortford Swifts. Ronnie Hobbrough scored twice for Bas, and the additional scorers included Graham Harrison, Rhys Fatt, Ryan Scougall and substitute Rhys Willson. Marcus Bowers’ side still have nine matches remaining.

Meanwhile, Catholic Utd went up to sixth after a 3 – 1 success at Springfield. Jay Nash maintained his scoring streak with a double here, and Franklin Craik added a late third. Lee Harris got a consolation for the hosts who remain 10th. Harold Wood Athletic got an important point as they drew 2 – 2 with fellow strugglers Canning Town. James Pottle and Billy Reed goals were cancelled out by Town replies by Alfie Fry and Napat Pattanawanitkikkul. Wood remain four points adrift at the bottom. Finally, Sungate defeated Leigh Ramblers 2 – 1 at Belfairs Park to fortify their seventh position.

In Division One, Runwell Sports finally confirmed their long sought-after place in Step 7 after a battling 1 – 0 win at Wakering Sports, in the match I attended this weekend. Skipper Oliver Quick got the only goal in a tense match though the celebrations post-match signified a dream realised for Chairman Jason Emery, with Runwell playing in the Premier Division next season for the first time in more than twenty years. Wakering Sports still have three more matches to play as they duke it out with rivals Toby for the other likely promotion spot. Leigh Town also got a welcome win via walkover over Chingford Athletic, which sees them up to eighth spot. They have three matches to stay above the bottom two.

Moving into Division Two, Shoebury Town continued their good season with a 6 – 3 win at Hutton Res, in a match played at Hannakins Farm Community Centre 3G. Kian Bradshaw grabbed a fine treble to double his goal tally to six league goals this term. Kyle McAlindon, player-boss Garry Johnson and Daniel Brooker all also netted for the visitors, who remain sixth, two points adrift of Old Southendian Res. The Hutton scorers were Connor O’Regan with a double, plus one for Jack Shaw. They remain third-bottom with five matches left. Manford Way continued their good form with a 6 – 2 triumph at fellow top five side Old Southendian Res at Garon Park 3G. The ensemble cast of scorers here for Manford were David Alele, James Dobson, Joshua Owoaje, Dominic Esty-Wilkinson, Charlie Parish and an OG. The win saw them rise to third, three points adrift of Harold Hill in second. The Os side remain fifth.

In the other game in D2, Rayleigh Town Res had a Ebeneezer Djan treble to thank for a 3 – 0 victory at home to Harold Wood Athletic Res at London Road. The win takes them five points clear of their opponents here in eighth spot and seven points clear of the bottom three.

EOFL Senior League Cup Result – Toby 1 – 2 Harold Hill

EOFL Divisions Three, Four & Five

In Division Three, the one match that took place ended in a draw. Basildon Town Res were held 2 – 2 by visitors Wakering Sports Res. Louis Hill and Jamie Bradbourn netted for the Town side, with Connor Fardyga and Scott Clark responding for Wakering, who remain in the running for a top-three finish.

In Division Four, Chingford Athletic Res benefitted from a walk over win in their game with Leytonstone Utd, which took them ten points clear at the summit and only requiring two more wins to seal the title. Wakering Sports A defeated Springfield Res 3 – 1 to record a welcome win at Cupid’s. Paul Wines, Mekhi Weekes and Nathan Roche all netted for them, while Liam England replied for the visitors.

Finally, in Division Five, AS Rawreth Res were held 2 – 2 by Herongate Athletic Res at the Warren. Ethan Bird got both goals for the Rawreth side, with Lee Glynn and Samuel Tshiamala goals securing a point for Herongate.

EOFL Reserve League Cup

This week, we also have a bonus section on the Reserve League Cup. Buckhurst Hill U23’s secured their place in the next round after a fine 6 – 0 win at Bishop’s Stortford Swifts Res. Stefanos Ladoukakis led the way for Darren Gosnell’s side with a double here, with Louie Cooper, Luka Ferraglioni, Jacob Richards and Casey Lockhart also on target at Silver Leys. They will joined in the next round by Hashtag Utd Development, who won 3 – 0 at Collier Row Res, with Shaun Warren’s opener being added to late on by Samuel Pratt and replacement Jake Smith. Lastly in this competition this week, Toby Res edged to a good 4 – 3 win at Pitsea Athletic Res, with Oliver Dingli scoring twice for the Toby side, allied to goals from Alkan Ali and substitute Marsell Uba. Pitsea responded through Sean Devlin’s fine treble.

This weekend saw big results and with a number of different competitions being played (the EOFL Senior Cup, Reserve League Cup, Ressie Trophy, Denny King Memorial Cup & Essex Junior Cup), our focus remains on the League action. This week, in addition to the usual top three tiers, we have sections on the Senior Lge Cup & Division Four.

Essex Olympian Lge – Saturday 26 February

EOFL Premier Division, Divisions One & Two

In the Premier Division, Kelvedon Hatch maintained their excellent campaign with a tough 3 – 2 win against improving Springfield at Arun Park. Max Bradford, James Burt and Tom Johnson got the important strikes for Darren Hunt’s side, with Garjay Thompson and Roland Oteniya responding for Francesco Zabotti’s side. Kelvedon are now up to second and face Hutton away next weekend (see fixtures at article’s end) which will be a tough one for Hutton as they look to stay in the top two. Springfield remain in tenth but are vulnerable to be caught by two sides just below them (Stortford Swifts & Galleywood) who have matches in hand.

Elsewhere, Shenfield AFC got another good win away from home with a 4 – 0 triumph over Harold Wood Athletic at Robert Clack Sch 3G. A double from substitute Ross Riding was added to by strikes from Samuel Lock and Elliott Thompson to put them three points clear in ninth. Athletic remain bottom, seven points adrift of exiting the bottom two with nine matches left. Catholic Utd also got a narrow 1 – 0 success at Leigh Ramblers, with Jay Nash getting the only goal to see his side back up to sixth. The Rams have eight games to retain their status as a Step 7 side arguably.

Rounding the top-tier action, Old Southendian got a memorable 2 – 0 win at Rayleigh Town to shore up their own mid-table ambitions and also dent Rayleigh’s chances of the title. On that note, Ongar Town went back up to the top after a hard-fought 2 – 1 victory at Bishop’s Stortford Swifts. Archie Gerard gave Swifts a surprise lead but Ongar displayed their spirit once again as goals from Joe Lilly and Jack Zielinski turned the game and gave Richard Ponsford’s side another important three points.

Division One saw two matches that did not go ahead. Firstly, Epping Town were the first beneficiaries of a Home Walkover in their match with Chingford Athletic, as the Town Mead side have withdrawn their first team only from their remaining matches, in the division (Source: EOFL website) after boss Declan Murphy departed the club this week. I understand their Reserve team is not affected, but let’s hope Chingford Firsts return next season.

Also, Toby’s match with Old Chelmsfordians also ended up in a walkover in favour of the hosts. That result sends them into second spot on their own but with Wakering Sports having one more match to play, Mark Jones’ side will need to amass as many points as they can from their remaining three matches.

There was also one match in Division Two, and it was an important one. ACD Utd continued their leap towards Division One with a hard-fought 2 – 1 success over rivals Wakebury at Westlands. Michael Wade and Mason Oakley got the crucial goals for Greg Knock’s team to outweigh Jamie Bradbourn’s strike for the Berries. ACD go back to the summit, three points clear of rivals Harold Hill, with Wakebury’s destiny now not entirely in their own hands given they are four points behind Hill in second and Manford Way are five points behind them but with two further matches to play.

EOFL Divisions Four & Five

In Division Four, the top two did battle at Town Mead as Chingford Athletic Res drew 3 – 3 with Roydon. Luke Dimond, Cane Sullivan and replacement Benson Osejindu got the goals for the hosts but the visitors are having a good run and strikes by Nader Benzid, Halcyon Griffith and Rene Pivarnik claimed a point which means the gap between the two teams remains at four points, with both teams having five matches left.

EOFL Senior League Cup

Three matches were played in the Senior League Cup and two of them were surprises. Corinthians showed how strong they are at their best as late goals assisted them to a superb 5 – 0 win at Premier side Hutton. There were doubles for Bailey Moss and Jake Hodder for Chris Stoneham’s side, with Leo Clarke also on target. They face a trip to Sungate next, while Hutton will have ten league matches to focus on. Sungate went through 5 – 4 on penalties, after a 0 – 0 draw with Basildon Town. Both sides will have hectic conclusions to the season, including midweek league matches in April and May.

Finally for this part, Harold Hill also issued a reminder of their talents as they won 4 – 2 at Galleywood. Craig Skipper and Oliver Sadler got the goals for ‘Wood but Hill still progressed.

Hello all and welcome to my round-up of the action in the Essex Olympian League, on Saturday 22 January. This week, the league action was the mainstay, with several matches also taking place in Cup competitions, mainly the EOFL Senior League Cup which we round-up later in the article.

Essex Olympian League Round-up – Saturday 22 January

EOFL Premier Division

In the top-tier, Rayleigh Town sit second after a 3 – 0 success at Harold Wood Athletic. Harry Talbot, George Vile and substitute George Aston got the goals for Paul Higgins side, as they stayed a point clear of Ongar Town, who gained ground on leaders Basildon Town but winning 4 – 1 at Bas. Meanwhile, Catholic Utd strengthened their position in seventh following a 2 – 1 win at Galleywood. Aaron Baldwin’s brace secured the points for Simon Thomas’ side, outdoing the reply from Ben Smith for the hosts.

Elsewhere, Springfield got an excellent 5 – 2 triumph at home to Old Southendian. Replacement Garjay Thompson netted twice for Francesco Zabotti’s team, with Adam Cole, Ryan Kelland and Mohammed Raza also on target for the hosts as they went up to tenth. Finally, Sungate stay sixth after a 1 – 0 win over Bishop’s Stortford Swifts.

EOFL Divisions One, Two & Three

In Division One, the one League match what took place saw a big win for promotion-chasing Wakering Sports, who won 2 – 0 at Leigh Town. Ben Rowe and Joseph Burton got the goals for Mitchell Gleeson’s side at John Burrows Recreation Ground, which took Sports back up to second spot. Leigh remain eighth, four points clear of the bottom two.

In Division Two, in the two matches that were played, Manford Way got a 2 – 0 triumph at home to strugglers Hutton Res. Josh Sykes and Josh Owoaje both netted to send their side up to fourth. The other match saw a surprise 2 – 1 success for Rochford Town at Old Southendian Res. Substitutes Bobby Anderson and Max Harrington both scored for James Cooper’s team to lift them up to tenth. OS Ressies lost further ground on the top three and drop to fifth after this loss.

While in Division Three, Basildon Town Res are now ten points clear in fourth after a 2 – 1 win against Leigh Town Res. Rhys Willson grabbed both goals in this one for Bas as they got their ninth win this term. Also, Buckhurst Hill U23 got a big 5 – 3 victory at home to Toby Res at Roding Lane. Oliver Dingli’s double & Justin Clarke’s goal was not enough for the visitors as Hill U23’s ensemble cast of scorers were Joseph Strange, Jack Barnes, Philip Kumi, Ayomide Ademokun & replacement Harry Maslin to ensure their side went six points clear of the bottom two.

EOFL Senior League Cup

In the seven matches that were played in the EOFL Senior Cup, Hutton edged through to the next round on spot-kicks, following a goalless draw at Kelvedon Hatch. Matt Singh’s side won the resulting shoot-put 9 – 8 to progress. Also, Epping Town went through following a 3 – 0 triumph at Pitsea Athletic. Conor Corrigan netted twice, while Joe Rickett added the other goal for Town at the Basildon Sporting Village. Toby also won 2 – 1 at home to Shoebury Town, with Dean Maguchu and Jamie Simpkins on target for Mark Jones’ side. Bradley Samaroo got the goal for Town there.

Elsewhere, Chingford Athletic pulled off an excellent 3 – 2 success at Leigh Ramblers, with Eren Muti, Timothy Dennis and replacement Scout Bown netting for Declan Murphy’s side. The Rams responded through goals from Nathan Dewberry and Ryan Lowe but exited here. Roydon also got a 4 – 2 triumph over Hullbridge Sports Res, with a treble from substitute Mohamed Benzid being added to by fellow replacement Jack Bagley-Etheridge to outweigh strikes for Hullbridge by Michal Clark and Joseph Darby and get through to the next round.

Meanwhile, Corinthians also progressed with a 4 – 0 triumph against Shenfield AFC in Stambridge. Bailey Moss netted another treble, with Leo Clarke also finding the net for Chris Stoneham’s side. Canning Town also edged through after a 1 – 0 victory over Runwell Sports in Beckton.

Essex Olympian League Round-up – Saturday 15 January

EOFL Premier Division & Division One

In the top-tier, with most of the top seven sides in Cup action, Rayleigh Town went back up to third spot with a 2 – 1 success at home to Shenfield AFC. Liam Oliver’s strike and a spot-kick from Harry Talbot was enough to overpower Perry Robinson’s goal for AFC and get the points. Kelvedon Hatch narrowly defeated Springfield 1 – 0 at New Hall, with Chris Denham’s solitary strike enough to send Darren Hunt’s team up to fourth spot.

Also in the Premier Division, Bishop’s Stortford Swifts went up to eighth in the table with a 3 – 1 home win against strugglers Canning Town at Silver Leys. Lawrence Healey’s double and Sam Chaney’s 12th league goal this term was enough for Craig Glashan’s side here. In Division One, Runwell Sports increased their lead tat the top to six points with a 2 – 0 win at fellow top four side Toby. Oliver Quick and substitute Luca Frankis got the goals to give Rob Hodgson’s side their tenth win of the season.

Meanwhile, Corinthians rose to third spot after a hugely important 5 – 3 triumph at Epping Town. Bailey Moss netted four goals here to take his tally to 21 in the league this term, with Cameron Glover also finding the net. Snaresbrook gained ground on Epping in the bottom four after a 2 – 1 win at home to Herongate Athletic.

EOFL Senior League Cup

There was another six matches in the Senior Cup this week, with ACD Utd more than securing their spot in the next round with a 14 – 0 triumph over Rochford Town at Westlands. There were no less than three hat-tricks for the hosts, from Shaun Goddard, Warren Taylor and from substitute Jacob Dingli. Samuel Payne added a pair, with strikes by Charlie Munns, Shaun Farrow & an OG completing a crushing victory for Greg Knock’s side. Galleywood also progressed with a 4 – 2 success at local rivals Old Chelmsfordians, with the ensemble cast of Freddie Bartram, Thomas Watling, Ben Smith and replacement Matthew Buckingham all on target in a good win at Lawford Lane.

Elsewhere, Wakering Sports prevailed with a 3 – 1 win against Manford Way at Cupid’s. Joseph Barton and substitutes Alfie Fossett & Mohammed Sesay all netted for Mitchell Gleeson’s team, outweighing a strike in response for Manford by David Alele. Catholic Utd won the battle of the Premier Division sides at the Len Forge, as they narrowly defeated Ongar Town 3 – 2. The other two matches played went all the way to spot-kicks. First, Sungate edged an epic penalty shoot-out after they drew 3 – 3 with Old Southendian. The East London side won the shoot-out 13 – 12 to get through to the next stage. At John Burrows Recreation Ground, Leigh Town won the 12-yard contest 4 – 3 after a goalless draw with Harold Wood Athletic. And Chingford Athletic went through via a walkover as Beacon Hill Rovers were unable to contest their fixture.

Essex Premier Cup – Last 16

The last remaining match in the EPC Last 16 saw Basildon Town launch another stirring comeback to win 2 – 1 at home to Hutton at Basildon Sports Club. An OG gave Matt Singh’s side the advantage, though a brace from the ever goal-hungry player-boss Marcus Bowers meant that Town made the quarter-finals. EOFL Divisions Two & Three

Moving back into the League action in Division Two, Old Southendian Res moved up to fourth place with a 3 – 1 win over May & Baker A in the late kick-off at Garon Park. Thomas Margerison, Oliver Tatton-Bennett and Sean Simmonett all scored for Josh Bambury’s team here. Also, Shoebury Town got a 2 – 1 success at Harold Wood Athletic Res, with player-boss Garry Johnson and replacement Kyle McAlindon netting at the Robert Clack Sch 3G. This win keeps them in sixth spot.

In Division Three, Wakering Sports Res strengthened their hold on third place with a 5 – 1 triumph at Collier Row. Connor Fardyga got another double to reach 18 league goals this term, with David Watson reaching 15 league goals thanks to a brace as well, with substitute Eben Rowledge also notching. Leigh Town Res also got a 5 – 1 win away from home, as they defeated Corinthians Res at Stambridge. Lewis Brooks, Zack Walker, Chris Pope, Jack Pearman & replacement Callum Stone all scored for Josh Burrage’s new side.

Elsewhere, Hashtag Utd Development remain four points clear in second spot as they won 1 – 0 at improving Buckhurst Hill U23, with Shaun Warren getting the only goal in that game. Finally, Catholic Utd Res retained their three point lead at the summit as they won 7 – 2 against Pitsea Athletic at Basildon Sports Village.

In Division Four, Galleywood Res got a fine 4 – 0 victory over Leytonstone Utd at Slades Lane. Replacement Oliver Sadler netted twice for the hosts here, with Bradley Taylor and Clarke Green also adding a goal each. Roydon were held 1 – 1 at home to Old Chelmsfordians Res, with Connor Riddoch once again on the score-sheet for Roydon. And Wakering Sports A came away with a big 6 – 1 triumph over strugglers Canning Town Res, who now haven’t won since the opening match of the campaign. Lewis Brooks fired in a treble here for the Sports development side, with Harry Groves, Danny Pallett and Adam Smith also scoring.

Hello all and welcome to my round-up of the action in the Essex Olympian League, on Saturday 8 January. This week, the league action was rather gazumped by a huge number of Cup matches, in no less than three Cup competitions, two of them being EOFL competitions – we’ll have round-ups of those. The League action centres on the two matches that were played in the Premier Division. Happy New Year to all the readers of this column, thank you for your support.

Essex Olympian League Round-up – Saturday 27 November

EOFL Premier Division

In the top-tier, Springfield continued their quest to get themselves out of the danger zone, as they won 4 – 1 at bottom side Canning Town. Adam Cole netted twice, with Jack Gibbons and Jack French also on target for Francesco Zabotti’s side here. In the other match, Shenfield AFC held Kelvedon Hatch to a 3 – 3 draw at St Martin’s Sch 3G. Joseph Newson, Lewis Young and Wayne Semanshia all scored for Darren Hunt’s side but the point means they are in fifth spot, behind Rayleigh Town on goal difference.

Before we move on to the Cup action, here’s a quick reminder of the top of the table ahead of the second half of the season. Basildon Town lead the standings with 38 points from their 15 matches, four points clear of Hutton who continue to prosper under Matt Singh & his staff. Ongar Town are also well placed in third, with 31 points from 15 matches. It is sure to be a dramatic end to the campaign.

EOFL Senior League Cup

Moving into the five matches played in the EOFL Senior League Cup, and Toby progressed with an impressive 7 – 1 success at Leytonstone Utd in their game which was moved to Robert Clack Sch 3G. Albert Perry continued his fabulous goal-scoring campaign with four goals here, with Jake Jones, Jamie Simpkins and Marc Porter-Brown on target for Mark Jones’ side here. Shoebury Town also made it into the next round after a 5 – 3 victory against high-scoring Old Barkabbeyans at Cupid’s. Player-boss Garry Johnson and Steven Sharpe netted twice for the hosts, with Oliver Jenkins getting the other goal. Josh Robinson responded for Barkabbeayans with a fine treble but they exited here. Runwell Sports also went through with a 2 – 0 win against Collier Row at St Luke’s Park. Charlie Little and Isaac Pascal got the goals for Rob Hodgson’s team there.

Meanwhile, Corinthians progressed with a 5 – 0 victory over Wakebury at Stambridge Memorial Ground. Bailey Moss netted another two goals, with Leo Clarke, Cameron Glover and Connor Summerhill adding to the visitors’ pain as they can now focus on the League. Finally, Herongate Athletic got a fine 4 – 1 win over Southend Manor Development at Billericay Road. Benjamin Clarke netted a great treble, with Carey Wallace adding the other strike for Kurt Smith’s new side.

Essex Premier Cup – Last 16

The EPC reached the last 16 stage and the story goes on for Clapton CFC as they defeated Leigh Ramblers 4 – 2 at Wadham Lodge 3G. Josh Adejokun, Jake Stevens, Julian Austin and Noah Adejokun all scored for the hosts as the Middlesex County League Premier Division side knocked out the EOFL Premier side, and also can say they’ve knocked out both Leigh-on-Sea clubs in this competition this term, having beaten Leigh Town in a previous round. Catholic Utd will play in the Quarter-Finals though after a 5 – 3 success at Essex & Suffolk Border League Premier side Colne Athletic. James Warder scored a brace here, supplanted by strikes from Aaron Baldwin, Alfie Whiteaker and Jay Nash as Simon Thomas’ team took a fine win.

In other action, Manford Way edged to a 2 – 1 win over Chingford Athletic, with James Dobson and David Hornsby scoring for Manford. Old Southendian exited the competition as they lost 3 – 1 to the Border League Premier leaders Stanway Pegasus and Sungate got a 5 – 1 win over Harold Hill at Ilford Wanderers RFC.

EOFL Reserve League Cup

Finally this week, in the Reserve Cup there were goals aplenty. Collier Row Res got a fine 5 – 1 victory at Canning Town Res with Raheem Bravo and Anton Ostrii both notching twice here, with Jordan Adesanya also netting for the Row second side. Toby Res had a superb five-goal haul from Ollie Dingli to thank for a 5 – 0 home win over Corinthians Res at Ford’s Newbury Park. Hashtag Utd Development got one over on their divisional rivals as they defeated Catholic Utd Res 6 – 1 at Barleylands. Jay Knight and Matthew Gauci both scored twice for Denis Simpson’s team. That was allied with goals for Kai Warren and Samuel Pratt and the solitary reply for Utd came from Thomas Elliott.

Elsewhere, PItsea Athletic Res went through to the next round with a 4 – 1 win at AS Rawreth Res, thanks to trikes by Rinor Zeqiri, Vishnu Panikkar, Joe Shulver and replacement Sean Devlin. Old Southendian Res joined them with a 4 – 2 win at local rivals Leigh Town Res. Jack Cripps, Thomas Magerison, Daniel Frimley and Sean Simmonett netted for Josh Bambury’s side, outweighing goals in reply by Chris Pope and Danial Roberts for Town. Wakering Sports A safely negotiated a tricky match at Hackney Marshes with a 4 – 3 win at Snaresbrook Res. Tom Vine struck a fine treble, with Chay Saggers also scoring for Sports’ third-team. Also, Springfield Res went through after a 2 – 1 win over Basildon Town Res. Rhys Willson netted for Town but goals from Harrison Elles and substitute Owen Stewart saw the hosts make the next round.

In other action, Buckhurst Hill U23 continue to impress under boss Darren Gosnell as they won 5 – 2 at Ongar Town Res in Chelmsford. Chingford Athletic Res went through 5 – 3 on spot-kicks after a 1 – 1 draw with May & Baker A at Town Mead.

Hello and welcome to another edition of the Essex Olympian League round-up, here on my blog, looking at the action from Saturday 24th October from the Premier Division all the way to Division Three this week, also including results from Senior Four & Five. EOFL Premier Division

As ever, we begin in the Premier Division and we have new leaders. Basildon Town kept up their perfect record this term with a narrow 1 – 0 win over highly-rated Leigh Ramblers at Basildon Sports Club. Keith King got the only goal to give player-boss Marcus Bowers’ side a three-point lead at the summit. Buckhurst Hill are in second after a rare loss, 2 – 1 at Canning Town, with strikes by Jack Williamson and Harry Rixon meaning the latter side moving up to seventh after this fine result. Even another goal from Suleyman Zuhdu wasn’t enough for Hill to avoid defeat. Also, in-form Hutton got another win, defeating Bishop’s Stortford Swifts 4 – 0 at Polo Fields, A brace for Stephen Judge plus goals for Will Marlowe and Tony Shaw saw Matt Singh’s side up to fourth, with Swifts down to eleventh.

Elsewhere, Catholic Utd are up to fifth spot following a comfortable 3 – 0 triumph over bottom side Kelvedon Hatch at New Hall. Goals from Brad Rowland, Aaron Baldwin and Harley Kee were enough to see Stuart Marshall’s side to a decent win. Rayleigh Town also got a ‘W’ this week as they narrowly beat Sungate 1 – 0 at London Road, with Dan Regan’s early goal enough for the win for Paul Higgins’ side. The ‘Gate remain third but are still five points adrift of Hill in second. Also among the winners this week were Shenfield AFC who got a very respectable 3 – 0 win over Old Southendian at St Martins Sch [3G]. Perry Robinson, Sam Lock and Liam Snellin were the goal-scorers here at AFC went up to eighth whole OS drop to second-bottom. Finally for the top-tier, Springfield were held 2 – 2 by improving Harold Wood Athletic at Arun Close. George Rose and Jack Browne-Sykes netted for Alex Goldstone’s side who inch up to ninth spot with goals from Jake Clarke and Denzel Adebiyi giving Dan Williams’ side a point – they are in 12th spot.

EOFL Division One

In Division One, the leaders are still unbeaten Ongar Town after they negotiated a tough test by winning 3 – 1 at Chingford Athletic. Joe Lilly, Aaron Blair and a cracker from Eamon Payne secured the win for Richard Ponsford’s side, who are now four points clear at the summit. Their nearest challengers are now Galleywood after they edged to a hard-fought 3 – 2 win over Rayleigh Town Res at Clarkes Field. Harry Bond and Lewis Rose were among the scorers for the hosts, with Harry Barham and Kalvin Armstrong responding for Dave Gipp’s side who drop to the foot of the table. That was because Shoebury Town got their first win this term with a 2 – 1 success over high-flyers Snaresbrook at Cupid’s. Ife Ogunbayo’s fourth league goal this term was not enough to prevent the East London side dropping to third on goal difference.

Also, Runwell Sports were held 1 – 1 by fellow top-five side Toby at St Luke’s Park. Joe Olley struck for the hosts, while Rhys Willson got the goal for the visitors. Both sides are well-placed for an assault on the top three at this point. Elsewhere, Ramsden Scotia got a second successive win over Herongate Athletic, winning 3 – 2 at the Nursery Sports Ground. Scotia’s goals came through a brace from Ryan McDonach and one from substitute Max Fernee. Harley Benn and Ben Warren both netted for Ath, but they drop to ninth spot. Finally, Old Chelmsfordians are seventh after a 2 – 1 win at Manford Way, despite Tyrone Scarlett netting for Trevor Grace’s side.

EOFL Division Two

Into Division Two and Beacon Hill Rovers have taken the top spot after a 4 – 0 success at Harold Wood Athletic Res. Bradley Morgan netted twice here to climb to eight league goals this season, plus Lewis Sherwood and George Davis also struck to complete another splendid afternoon for Steve Bennett’s side. Corinthians rose to third spot after a tough 2 – 1 win at local rivals Rochford Town, with Nathan Dewberry also netting his eighth league goal this term, alongside a John Bolton-Smith goal to see Chris Stoneham’s side to the win.

Also, Leigh Town continue to fight hard for points as they held Old Southendian Res to a 0 – 0 draw at John Burrows Recreation Ground though they drop to second. It’s worth noting that Town haven’t been beaten in the league since April 2019 I believe. Some record that. Epping Town climbed into sixth place after a blistering 6 – 1 win at home to Ryan. Chris Gormley netted twice here, with Michael Moore, Joe Rudkin, Peter Paoletti and Joe Rickett also on target for Stuart Hoskins’ side. Ryan remain tenth. Finally, Laindon Orient got their biggest league win of the season, defeating AS Rawreth 5 – 1 at the Warren. Ashley Blackburn got two goals to reach five in total this season, with Jason Jones, Matthew Gibson and Carlos Dias also contributing to Neil Blackburn’s side remaining fifth, four points off the leaders.

EOFL Division Three

We also have new leaders in Division Three as ACD Utd won their top-of-the-table clash, winning 3 – 2 at Wakebury. Player-manager Michael Wade grabbed another treble to make it to eleven league goals already this term for ACD, and while Billy Bonham-Dare and Chris Gore’s late spot-kick gave Matt Cardy’s side hope, it was the visitors who retain their 100% winning record and go top of the standings by two points. Elsewhere, Hutton Res got their first win in the league with a fine 4 – 2 win at fellow strugglers Toby Res in Newbury Park. The Shenfield-based side rose above their opponents into tenth spot. Justin Clarke and Junior Bammeke netted for the hosts in this one but it’s still no wins since their opening match now. Lakeside Utd leapt into mid-table after triumphing over Leigh Town Res 5 – 3 in an entertaining game at the Lakeside Sports Ground [3G]. Aaron Tyler, Christian Seymour and Callum Stone all netted for Rob Hutchings-Spiller’s side but their winless run went on thanks to Harry Davison’s four-goal haul for Lakeside, assisted by Brandon Booty’s strike.

Hullbridge ‘A’ continued their fine season with a 4 – 2 success over Buckhurst Hill Res at Lower Road. The cast of Joe Ives, George Mole, Harry Mole and replacement Charlie Cox all netted to stay third and are only one of two unbeaten sides in the division. Manford Way Res are behind on goal difference alone in fourth after despatching Corinthians Res 4 – 1 at Stambridge. David Hornsby struck another two goals here to take him on to eight league goals this season, with Shaun Goddard and Jake Muller also on target. Sonny Woodward got the reply for Russell Saggers’ side.

Finally for this division, Collier Row are also on ten points with Hullbridge and Manford after a 3 – 2 win over Basildon Town Res at Robert Clack [3G]. Town fall to eighth.

Hello and welcome to another packed edition of the round-up of the Essex Olympian League, here on my blog, from Saturday 10th October from the Premier Division all the way to Division Three this week, with results from Divisions Four & Five and sections on the Senior &Reserve League Cup and the Essex Junior Cup ties this weekend. Essex Olympian League – Saturday 10 October

EOFL Premier Division

As ever, we begin in the Premier Division, with one match called off on Friday due to ‘health concerns’ so Kelvedon Hatch v Rayleigh Town will be rescheduled. Five matches did take place and leading the standings are Basildon Town on goal difference after Marcus Bowers’ side made it five wins from five matches as they won 4 – 1 at Shenfield AFC. Graham Harrison’s hat-trick set the visitors on a great course and Benjamin Smith’s goal secured another super day for the visitors. Shenfield drop down to ninth place after this result. Buckhurst Hill are also on 15 points from five matches after a brilliant 5 – 0 win over Catholic Utd at Roding Lane. A brace from Tyler Dolan plus strikes from skipper Suleyman Zuhdu, substitute Zachary Davidson and Josh Banfield made sure of the points for mark Williams’ side.

Elsewhere, at the match Scott attended this week, Leigh Ramblers won their second consecutive local derby as they won 2 – 0 at Old Southendian. A double from centre-back Harry Haysom made the difference for the well-organised Rams, who move up to fourth place. OS fall to tenth after their third loss this term. Also, Sungate remain third after defeating Bishop’s Stortford Swifts 3 – 0 at home. Swifts’ tough run goes on after a fourth straight defeat. Hutton also got their first win this term, winning 2 – 1 at Harold Wood Athletic thanks to goals from George Wickings and Will Marlowe. The result moves them up to sixth place. Robert Whitnell netted for Ath but their quest for consistency continues, sitting in 12th spot.

EOFL Reserve League Cup

One match in the Reserve Cup saw Catholic Utd Res convincingly win 7 – 0 at Herongate Athletic Ressies which took place at St Clere’s in Stanford-le-Hope. Frankin Craik netted another four goals as he pushes for a recall to the first team, with James Warder, Tom Elliott and Joe Keville also on target as they progressed to the next round.

EOFL Division One

Returning to the League now with Division One action and Snaresbrook lead the division after a fine 2 – 1 win at Runwell Sports. A cracker from 35 yards by Ife Ogunbayo put Rob Caine’s side ahead. Max Catherall also netted for the visitors who are two points clear at the summit. After Sports had a spot-kick saved, Jon Atmore replied for Jason Plom’s side but they still fell to their first league loss this term and drop to fourth place. Manford Way are up to third place after their 2 – 0 success at Toby, with Kieran Smih and Dexter Stuart the goal-scorers for Trevor Grace’s team. Toby are still in a respectable fifth place. In sixth place are Galleywood after a superb 4 – 1 away-day win at Shoebury Town. Replacement Max Orrin notched twice, with Matthew Buckingham and Thomas Watling also on the score-sheet.

Elsewhere, Rayleigh Town Res got their first win in the league this term as they defeated Herongate Athletic 3 – 1 at London Road. Dean Hazleton, Tommy Dominguez and Ebe Djan all scored for Dave Gipp’s side as they go up to tenth. Herongate are eighth, one of three sides on six points in a tight mid-table area. Finally, Old Chelmsfordians won 2 – 1 at Chingford Athletic despite Luke Dimond scoring for the Town Mead side.

EOFL Division Two

Now moving into Division Two, Leigh Town lead the standings by two points after a fine 3 – 1 win over Beacon Hill Rovers at John Burrows Recreation Ground. Sam Gillmore, Sam Irvine and James Roberts were the goal-scorers for Jack Pearman’s side as they remain unbeaten. They also benefitted from being awarded two extra points after Rochford Town were found to have fielded an ineligible player in their draw in late September.

Rochford also had a painful defeat at home as they lost 3 – 2 to ten-man Old Southendian Res at Rochford Recreation Ground. The OS second-side saw goalkeeper Chris Leonard dismissed, and won the game thanks to goals from Nico Dubouchet, Lewis Bickford and Luke Stillwell. Wakering Sports are in fourth place after a narrow 1 – 0 win at the newly-renamed May & Baker ‘A’ (see end of this section for news on that). Ryan Gregory got the only goal for the Shoebury-based side here. Laindon Orient are a point behind them in fifth place after they got a hard-fought 3 – 2 win over Epping Town in a match moved to the Eversley Leisure Centre in Pitsea. Former Walthamstow & Saffron Walden player Lewis Francis turned out for Neil Blackburn’s side and got their opening goal, to which Sam Moore and Anthony Hill added to obtain the three points. Epping fall to sixth after their first league defeat of the campaign.

Lastly for this division, Corinthians got a 2 – 1 victory over Harold Wood Athletic Res at Stambridge which means Chris Stoneham’s side go up to second spot.

Re: May & Baker ‘A’, the Essex County FA recently ordered them to revert to the previous name of ‘A’ as there is already a Reserve side in the Essex Senior Reserve Division.

EOFL Division Three

In Division Three, Wakebury are the new leaders following a 7 – 2 victory over bottom side Leigh Town Reserves at Shoebury Park. Defences in this division will be alerted to the fact that the returning Charlie Little nabbed four goals in this match, with an OG, Chris Gore and Shaun Lewis-Evans accounting for the other goals as Matt Cardy’s side remain unbeaten. Collier Row drop to second place after being held 3 – 3 away to Manford Way Res, with Daniel Reeve notching a treble for Row in this one. Shaun Goddard and David Hornsby were among the scorers for the Manford second-side.

In the two other matches in this division, Lakeside Utd got their first win of the league season as strikes by Carl Prendergast and David Alele saw them to a 2 – 0 triumph at Basildon Town Res. Also, Hutton Res drew 3 – 3 with Corinthians Res with both sides yet to win this term and in the bottom three.
