Hello all and welcome to my round-up of the action in the Essex Olympian League, on Saturday 12 February. This week, the league action takes the central focus, with a few matches also in several Cup competitions. This week’s round-up includes a section looking at EOFL Division Four & Five, with results from the Cup competitions.

Essex Olympian League Round-up – Saturday 12 February

EOFL Premier Division & Division One

In the top-tier, Rayleigh Town are the new leaders after a 2 – 1 victory at home to Canning Town at London Road. Strikes by Harry Talbot and George Vile were enough to see Paul Higgins’ side to the win. Rivals Hutton and Basildon Town have matches in hand but all Rayleigh can do is keep winning and see how the table is week-by-week. Ongar Town got a priceless 5 – 2 win at Leigh Ramblers to remain the reckoning for the title, despite Matt Brinklow’s double for the Rams. Galleywood also claimed a 3 – 2 victory over local rivals Springfield at Slades Lane. Thomas Watling, Ben Smith and replacement Marc Rayner goals outdid replies for the visitors by Joe Kiff and substitute Ryan Kelland. Finally, Kelvedon Hatch were held at home 0 – 0 by improving Old Southendian.

In Division One, Runwell Sports maintained a five point lead over their nearest rival following a 1 – 0 victory at Chingford Athletic. With only two league matches remaining, Rob Hodgson’s side know that wins in both of them would likely mean they will get promotion to the Premier Division. Toby also are in that mix and remained second after a 5 – 2 success at Beacon Hill Rovers. The ensemble cast of Marc Porter-Brown, Ben Picton, Albert Perry, Jamie Simpkins and Chris Cox all netted for Mark Jones’ side and they know that they have a chance of overhauling Runwell but only if they win all four of their remaining league games. Wakering Sports & Corinthians also have games in hand and will surely have a say on what crops up in two months time. Rovers’ goals in this match came from Jordan Sargegant and Jack Walker.

EOFL Divisions Two & Three

Into the League action with the three games played in Division Two. With leaders ACD Utd in Cup action, Harold Hill were held 2 – 2 by Manford Way at Noak Hiil. Harry Agombar and Peter Tyler both netted for the hosts but Manford Way are unbeaten in five leagues games now thanks to strikes by Samuel Oramadike and Joshua Owoaje. This result kept Manford’s slim hopes of top three finish alive though I suspect Wakebury will be the most pleased side in the top four, as they have to win their games in hand on the top two to lead the standings. Old Southendian Res are now level on points with Manford as well after a 3 – 1 victory with fellow top six side Shoebury Town at Garon Park. A double from Jack Cripps and one from Harry Da Costa was enough to give Josh Bambury’s side the points.

Finally, it was a painful day for Rochford Town as they were heavily defeated 9 – 0 by May & Baker A. Alagi Juwara and Abraham Jairette both notched trebles to reach eight league goals apiece. Michael Begg, Ryan Mugera and Ryan Stowell all also scored for Steve Hogg & Matt Guidera’s side who are heading for a mid-table finish.

In Division Three, the leaders were in Cup action so Hashtag Utd Dev took their opportunity to put the pressure on rivals Catholic Utd Res, after they won 3 – 1 at bottom side Collier Row. Substitute Chandler Wray got two goals here for Denis Simpson’s side, adding to Jay Knight’s opener at the Robert Clack Sch 3G. Row are now at the foot of the table after Corinthians Res got their first win in seven matches in some style with a 5 – 1 triumph at home to Toby Res. Sam Halsey netted twice for the hosts, with Finlay Grant, Issac Bellow and Lewis Coxon also on target. Also, Buckhurst Hill U23 got their third win in their last four with an impressive 3 – 0 victory over promotion-chasing Wakering Sports Res at Roding Lane. Darren Gosnell’s side are heading for a mid-table finish after what has been a difficult season at times.

EOFL Divisions Four & Five

In Division Four, the race for elevation is intense as Old Chelmsfordians Res maintained their slim title hopes with a 3 – 0 victory over Ongar Town Res at Lawford Lane. Martin Mixture, Shane Pritchard and Emmanuel Mukuka got the goals  to defeat their mid-table visitors. Springfield Res also harbour hopes of promotion and edged a super game, defeating Wakering Sports A 5 – 3 at Arun Close. Doubles for Harrison Elles and Liam England saw the hsts on the way to victory, with Joseph Norman also netting. Sports responded through a pair of goals for Tom Vine and one from Scott Church. This result keeps them fourth with seven matches to play, while Sports recent poor form sees them in eighth spot.

Still in Div Four, the bottom two faced each other in East London, with Sungate Dev being held 1 – 1 by Canning Town Res. It does neither side much good, with Canning’s second side needing at least seven points from their remaining four games to have a chance of avoiding the bottom two.

In Division Five, Leigh Ramblers Res took an important three points with a 1 – 0 win at Wakebury Res, with Mickey Dodkins netting the crucial goal at the Nursery Sports Ground. Their lead at the summit is up to four points after Pitsea Athletic Res defeated second-placed Bishop’s Stortford Swifts Res 3 – 2 at Basildon Sports Village. Fraser Bush and Luke Sykes goals for Swifts were not enough for them here which means they will have to win both of their games in hand to overhaul the Rams side. Ath strikes by Sean Devlin (2) and Josh Fryer saw them four points clear in third spot. Snaresbrook Res also got a good 4 – 0 win over strugglers Epping Town Res at Nutter Field to further strengthen their mid-table position. Drew Barbier netted twice for ‘Brook, with Daniel Tesfay and substitute Justin Ayernor also scoring.

Also, Old Barkabbeyans got a Home walkover in their match with Collier Row Res.

EOFL Premier Division

In the Premier Division, Catholic Utd got the result of the day as they won 5 – 0 at Kelvedon Hatch, with Aaron Baldwin returning to form with a double. Jay Nash, James Warder and Michael Sammut also netted for Simon Thomas’ side on a memorable day for them. Hutton also got an important three points as they defeated Shenfield AFC 3 – 1, with strikes by Brad Freeman, Will Marlowe and substitute Sean O’Callaghan sending Matt Singh’s team on the way to a fine win and remain third. Marc Holland responded for the visitors there. Rayleigh Town also got another win, as they won 3 – 0 against Bishop’s Stortford Swifts at London Road. Jack Long, Liam Oliver and George Vile all scored for Paul Higgins’ team.

Basildon Town also emerged from a hard-fought match with Harold Wood Athletic at Gardiners Close with a 2 – 1 victory and remain just one point adrift of the summit. Graham Harrison netted again to continue his fine season, with replacement Rhys Fatt also on target to overturn Freddy Shepherd’s strike for ‘Wood.  In other action, OId Southendian continued their decent season with a 2 – 1 success at home to Galleywood. Matthew Buckingham struck for the visitors there.  Ongar Town also won, 2 – 0 at Springfield to spoil Francesco Zabotti’s first match in charge for the hosts and Sungate secured a 4 – 2 triumph at home to Leigh Ramblers.

EOFL Division One

There were a couple of surprising results in Division One. First, leaders Wakering Sports travelled to Newbury Park in East London to face Toby. It ended up being a good day for Toby as they won 2 – 1, with Albert Perry and a Rhys Willson spot-kick enough to earn a big win and hamper the visitors’ superb start to the campaign. Charlie Smith had levelled for Sports earlier in the game. There was also an important win for Corinthians, who won 2 – 1 at Leigh Town thanks to strikes by Bailey Moss and Connor Summerhill.

Meanwhile at Billericay Road, the points were shared as Herongate Athletic drew 3 – 3 with Epping Town in a fine match. Mark Argent, Ray Snares and Ben Clarke all struck for Billy Cove’s side, but a double for Joe Rickett and one from Andrew Smith was enough to claim a decent point for Stuart Hoskins’ side. Elsewhere in other action, Old Chelmsfordians had Charlie Portway to thank for both goals as they claimed a 2 – 1 victory at home to Runwell Sports, who replied through player-boss Rob Hogdson. Finally, Chingford Athletic narrowly defeated Snaresbrook 1 – 0.

EOFL Division Two

In Division Two, ACD Utd went back to the top of the table on goal difference after a fine 4 – 2 win over Shoebury Town at Westlands. Michael Wade notched another brace here, with Shaun Goddard and Samuel Payne also on target for Greg Knock’s side. Callum Merenda and Steven Sharpe netted goals in response for Garry Johnson’s side but they fell to a third league loss this term. Nearest challengers Harold Hill were held to a 2 – 2 draw by Hutton Res at Noak Hill, with Jack Shaw netting both goals for the visitors there. Hill responded through a brace from Peter Tyler but are now joint-top. Old Southendian Res grabbed a decent 2 – 0 triumph at Harold Wood Athletic Res.

May & Baker A continued to make strides in this division as they defeated AS Rawreth 4 – 2. Alagi Juwara, Rowan Newland, Matthew Ball and Ryan Mugera all scored for Matt Guidera & Steve Hogg’s side as they earned a fourth league win this season. Rochford Town also emerged with a fine win, as they edged a nine-goal thriller, as they won 5 – 4 against Rayleigh Town Res at the Rec. Harry Ford netted twice for Jim Cooper’s side, with Owen Pedder, Musa Kamba and Freddie Pettitt all adding important goals to get a rare win this season for Rochford. Finally, Manford Way got a 2 – 1 win at Wakebury, with Max Hall again scoring for Matt Cardy’s side.

EOFL Division Three

In Division Three, Wakering Sports Res kept the gap to leaders Catholic Utd Res to six points after a 4 – 1 win over Leigh Town Res at Cupid’s. Liam O’Callaghan netted for Town but a double for Connor Fardyga and strikes by Scott Clark and David Watson were enough to claim the win. Catholic’s own Ressie side won 9 – 3 at home to Toby Res.

Hashtag Utd Development remain third after a 4 – 0 win against Collier Row, with Samuel Pratt scoring twice, with Kai Warren & Alex Warren also on target at Barleylands. Meanwhile, Basildon Town Res won 2 – 1 at Pitsea Athletic, thanks to strikes by Conor Mead and replacement Keith King. Finally, Corinthians Res got a 1 – 0 success at home to Hullbridge Sports Res, with Isaac Bello getting the only goal.

Hello and welcome to another edition of the Essex Olympian League round-up, here on my blog, looking at the action from Saturday 17th October from the Premier Division all the way to Division Four this week, also including sections on the Senior & Reserve League Cup action this weekend. EOFL Premier Division

The top two in the Premier Division both got big wins this weekend. Buckhurst Hill are now in possession of top spot after a huge 8 – 3 win over Springfield at Roding Lane. Suleyman Zuhdu only endorsed his growing reputation with five goals here to take him to twelve league goals already this season. Josh Banfield, Henry Fisher and Nathan Sollosi all also netted to give Mark Williams’ side a sixth straight win. But, Basildon Town matched their win tally with a good 4 – 1 win over Canning Town at Basildon Sports Club. Marcus Bowers’ side are continuing to surprise in a good way, with Graham Harrison, Joe Burgess, Jacob Cleaver and Jamie Simpkins all on target for the hosts here.

Meanwhile in the match myself & Non-League colleague Pete Dudley attended, Hutton won 3 – 1 at Rayleigh Town with substitute Sean O’Callaghan netting twice for Matt Singh’s side, after Will Marlowe’s opener. Paul Morris got Town’s goal from twelve yards but this surprising result seems them drop to second bottom, whereas Hutton are up to fifth. Elsewhere, Bishop’s Stortford Swifts comfortably defeated Kelvedon Hatch at Silver Leys 4- 1 with goals from Wale Odedoyin, Archie Gerard, Carlos Flood and Chris Lockwood the difference for Billy Cove’s side as they rise to seventh. Hatch’s goal came from substitute Lewis Young but they remain winless and bottom. Also, Harold Wood Athletic got a decent 2 – 1 win over Old Southendian at Harold Wood Park. Connor Hartwell and Robert Whitnell’s goals meant Alex Goldstone’s side got some measure of comeback after their loss at Garon Park in September. Connor Burrows got the OS goal but they drop down to third-bottom.

EOFL Reserve League Cup

In the one Reserve Cup tie we had this week, Galleywood Res went through after a 3 – 2 win over Hutton Res at Clarkes Field. Luke Seaton, Craig Robertson and Zak Robinson all struck for the hosts in this successful afternoon.

EOFL Division One

Going back to League action now with Division One, and it’s as you were at the top with Ongar Town continuing their irrepressible start with a 3 – 1 win over Manford Way at Lakeside [3G]. Aaron Blair got his 13th league goal of the season, along with Joshua Boxall and replacement Rodney Wilson on the score-sheet for Town. Dexter Stuart scored for Manford but their 100% record ended here. Runwell Sports reside in fourth spot despite a 1 – 1 draw at home to improving Chingford Athletic, who remain in the bottom four. Galleywood also won, 1 – 0 at Old Chelmsfordians with the goal-scoring hero being Thomas Watling to go three points clear of their opponents in sixth.

Ramsden Scotia also notched their first league win this term in fine style, winning 3 – 2 at Herongate Athletic. Ben Warren’s brace wasn’t enough for Athletic, as goals from Max Corrigan, Alex Bessent and Richard Bishop saw Scotia up to tenth. Meanwhile, Toby are up to fourth place after a 3 – 0 win over Rayleigh Town Res. Josh Hales, Rhys Willson and Chris Rowland all netted before half-time to secure a comfortably win for the Newbury Park-based team.

EOFL Division Two

In Division Two now, Leigh Town still lead the division despite Jack Pearman’s injury-hit side being held 1 – 1 by Epping Town at John Burrows Recreation Ground. Rhys Mosedale netted for the hosts, while Peter Paoletti struck for Stuart Hoskins’ side, who remain in mid-table. Beacon Hill Rovers got a storming 9 – 1 win away at AS Rawreth, with Bradley Morgan netting four of them, Lewis Sherwood grabbing a hat-trick plus Rob Olding and Henry Ballard were also on target in this resounding win which sees Rovers up to second. Said Ahmed got a little consolation for Rawreth but they are still without a point in four league games thus far.

With Corinthians having a week off, Wakering Sports went up to third spot after a good 2 – 0 away win at Laindon Orient with Meschack Kisoka and Ben Rowe the scorers for Mitch Gleeson’s side.  Mid-table Old Southendian Res were surprisingly held 3 – 3 by Harold Wood Athletic Res  at Garon Park. Dave Stubbs, Nico Dubouchet and Lewis Bickford all scored for Oliver Tatton-Bennett’s side but strikes by Warren Taylor, Del Hawtin and Darren Wettner secured the Wood side their first point of the season. Also, Rochford Town were held 1 – 1 by May & Baker ‘A’ with Town up to eighth and M & B remaining in tenth.

EOFL Division Three

In the Division Three action this week, Wakebury remain the leaders by a point as they defeated Toby Res 5 – 0 at Shoebury Park. Charlie Little grabbed another treble here to make it seven goals in two matches – not bad going really! Shaun Lewis-Evans and William Wheeler also netted for Matt Cardy’s side. The visitors drop to ninth spot and The Berries are still unbeaten in their four league matches so far.

That said, the result of the day has to go to ACD Utd as they comprehensively dismantled Collier Row 9 – 1 at Westlands.  No less than four players got doubles here with Sam Payne, Michael Wade, George Munns and Brad Falco the four, with Shaun Farrow also notching on a terrific afternoon for Wade’s side. Row’s first league loss this term drops them back to fifth whereas ACD rise to second. Hullbridge Sports ‘A’ continued their unbeaten league start this season as they won 3 – 1 at Buckhurst Hill Res. Harry Boswell, Joe Ives and Edward Hawney all netted for the youthful ‘Bridge side who are third. Genit Abazi struck for the home side.

Also, Manford Way Res are up to fourth spot after a hard-fought 3 – 2 home win against Basildon Town Res. David Hornsby struck twice for Manford to make it to six league goals already this term, with Gideon Sengulay-Thomas getting the other goal for them. Michael Clark got both Town goals but they fell to seventh after this loss. Last up, Corinthians Res got their first win of the campaign with a 5 – 1 triumph over winless Leigh Town Res at Stambridge. Max Hall got two of the hosts’ goals, with Ashley Webb, Charlie Marden and Ben Langton all also scoring for Russell Saggers’ side, who go up to eighth spot. Miles Waddilove netted a scant consolation for Rob Hutchings-Spiller’s side here.

EOFL Division Four

In an extended look at Division Four this week, Hashtag Utd Development lead the standings by three points after a 4 – 1 win against Laindon Orient Res. Strikes by Samuel Pratt, Adam de Cruz, Tony Stevens and Harry Braysher sealed the win for the hosts, with Herman Mwanza getting the only goal in reply for Laindon’s second side. With Catholic Utd Reserves not in action this weekend, Chingford Athletic Res got their third win in four games after a 4 – 0 success over Old Chelmsfordians Res. Substitute Regan Marshall got a brace for Ath here, with Leighton Hughes-Franklin and Cane Sullivan also on the score-sheet in this win which sees Ath’s reserves go up to third on goal difference.

Elsewhere, Ongar Town Res also won 4 – 1 this weekend against Shenfield AFC Res with doubles for Frankie Goodhall and Riyan Metasha as the Ongar side go up to seventh. Finally for this division, Wakering Sports Res convincingly defeated Sungate Res 5 – 1 at Cupid’s with Connor Fardyga notching four goals himself and Charlie Smith also on target as Sports sent the ‘Gate Ressies to their first league loss this season.

Season Review 2019-20: Essex Olympian League Division Three [EOFL SR 19/20 23.4.20]

Hello and welcome to the second of a mini-series of blog articles looking back at the ‘void’ Season 2019-20, as deemed by the FA.

In this piece, I look back at Essex Olympian League Division Three, including an array of statistics compiled from the EOFL FA Full-Time website including top goalscorers & top appearance makers in the League fixtures. I was fortunate enough to attend a few Division Three matches this term so they may be referenced to as well here.

 

EOFL Division Three  (as of season cut-off point of March 14th 2020)

As with all the EOFL divisions, the season was halted in mid-March 2020 before eventually being curtailed several weeks later. At that point, ACD Utd held the top spot with 43 points from 18 matches. This record included thirteen wins and only the one loss, which was away at rivals Wakebury in late October. Michael Wade’s side were also the best side defensively in this division this term with only 19 goals conceded all league campaign, not bad for their first campaign as an Olympian League side. Fellow newcomers Wakebury were four points adrift in second place, with twelve wins from their 19 matches this term. Matt Cardy & Dan Blewett’s side were the most entertaining side this term with 56 goals scored, at an average of 2.95 Goals per game (GpG). The Shoebury-based side were not as proficient in defence and that may have cost them the top spot but both Wakebury & ACD have a lot to be proud of this season.

Another promoted side ended up being third in Corinthians Reserves. Terry Rose & Ben Adams’ team had an impressive twelve wins from their 15 matches, with only two losses, at home to Buckhurst Hill Ressies and away at Wakebury, which I was pleased to watch in-person. On a better note, they are the second-best goal-scorers this term with 51 goals (but in fewer matches than the Berries so the GpG is 3.40). A sturdy defence as well may have seen them climb into the top two, had the season continued. The next two sides ended in close formation in fourth & fifth respectively. Firstly, Toby Reserves were fourth on 29 points, with nine wins from their 18 matches. They were also fourth in the ‘Entertainers’ listing, with a substantial number of their 40 goals this season coming from forwards Marc ‘The Flea’ Porter-Brown and Luis Ruiz. In fifth place are Collier Row with 28 points from fourteen matches, which included an impressive nine wins for you guessed it, another promoted side (from Div Five in 2018/19). What is also noteworthy is that Row have the third-most miserly defence this term as well with 25 goals conceded, so plaudits to them on that.

Another side I saw this term in Hutton Reserves finished in sixth spot, having played the least amount of matches this term (13), ending up with 21 points. Matt Singh’s side grabbed seven wins this term, though as a caveat, six of those wins were at home. The other win was at White Ensign Reserves in mid-December, which happened to be the game I watched them in. Factor in an impressive goal-scoring record of 35 strikes (a GpG of 2.69) this season and again, they also have grounds for optimism next season. Leigh Town Reserves and Buckhurst Hill Reserves finished in seventh and eighth spot respectively. Leigh’s second-side, under the leadership of Robert Hutchings-Spiller ended up with 20 points from their 14 matches played. Unlike their first team in the division above, Town’s defence was breached 33 times this term as they won six and lost six of their matches this season. Hill’s second-team were two points behind them in eighth spot with 18 points from their fourteen games. Again, their defence was their ‘Achilles heel’, shipping 35 goals at an average of 2.50 per game.

Into the bottom four now, with Lakeside Reserves ending up ninth on 14 points from their 17 matches. All four of their wins this term came in their last nine matches as the latter half of the campaign saw them evade the dreaded bottom two. It was that poor start to the campaign (they didn’t win in their first ten matches) that contributed to them having the second-worst defensive record, conceding 48 times. Basildon Town Reserves finished tenth with 13 points from 15 matches. A difficult campaign at both ends of the pitch was highlighted by them having the third-weakest side in terms of goal-scoring, having scored 23 times and also conceding 41 goals, the fourth-worst in the division. Even so, their four wins this term matches the win count combined for the bottom two sides this term.

White Ensign Reserves were 11th, with three wins chalking up the bulk of their ten points gained this term. Manager Jack Caten has had it hard this term, as his side conceded 53 times in their 18 matches, the worst in the division. That said, they continue the club’s tradition of playing at the Len Forge Centre [3G] which is good to see. Finally, another new side in Hullbridge Sports ‘A’ ended up propping up the table, with one win all season – away at rivals Lakeside Reserves. It was a rare great day for Jason Mole’s side, as they scored four points all season and conceded forty-six  goals in their 15 matches this term. I saw the bottom two duke out a 1 – draw in November (image above) at the Len Forge.

Hello and welcome to this week’s review of Essex Olympian League action on Saturday 7 March. The weather continued to blight fixtures though there were still a lot of big matches in League & Cups that took place. Thanks for reading.

Essex Olympian League – Saturday 7 March

Premier Division

In the Premier Division, Sungate picked up a narrow 1 – 0 win at Rayleigh Town to extend their lead at the summit to six points. Buckhurst Hill can still catch them if they win five of the eight matches they have in hand on the ‘Gate. Rayleigh remain in seventh spot. Meanwhile, Kelvedon Hatch rose to fifth place after a 3 – 2 win over Harold Wood Athletic in a match moved to Frances Bardsley Academy 3G in Romford. Calvin Poku, Theo Ola and Joe Gregory all netted for Hatch, with Rob Whitnell and Jack Brown-Sykes scoring for Ath, who remain bottom, five points adrift of the top ten.

Shenfield AFC also secured a much-needed three points with a fine 5 – 2 win at mid-table Springfield. Ben Carroll grabbed a treble here, with Samuel Lock and Alex Tredgett also notching for AFC to send them up to 11th spot, four points clear of the bottom two.

Senior Division One

In Senior One, FC Hamlets won 2 – 0 at bottom side Toby through goals from Charlie Heatley and Jack Patten to secure their fifth league win this term, having played only 11 matches, due to postponements & Cup ties. Ashley King’s side rise to seventh spot and still have an outside chance of securing a top-four finish.

Lakeside edged to a 1 – 0 success over Runwell Sports with Jody Reynolds getting the only goal to go five points clear in fourth. Runwell remain in the bottom three. Also, Galleywood also won away from home, 2 – 0 at Ramsden Scotia thanks to strikes by Matthew Buckingham and replacement Jamie Rick, which sent ‘Wood up to fifth. Ramsden have lost three on-the-spin and remain in tenth.

Senior League Cup

In the one EOFL Senior Cup Quarter-Final tie, Catholic Utd edged to a 1 – 0 win over fellow Premier side Hutton at the Len Salmon Stadium. Jay Nash got the only goal to see the Super Hoops through to the last four.

Essex Premier Cup: Semi-Finals

In the one Essex Premier up Semi-Final that did take place at Roding Valley Sch 3G, Premier side Buckhurst Hill edged past impressive Senior One side Chingford Athletic on penalties after a pulsating 3 – 3 score-line after extra-time. Sam Sollosi netted twice for Mark Williams’ side in normal time, before Fenti Falola netted in extra time though Chingford showed their warrior spirit with Alex Gordon netting a double of his own which was added to by Gary Murray. Hill won the ensuing shoot-out 5 – 4 though this battle adds fuel to the thought that Dave Richbell’s side will be a Premier Division side next term. Congrats to both teams though it is Hill who make it through to the Final to defend their title at Billericay Town’s New Lodge on Wednesday April 11th.

Senior Division Two

Two matches survived in Senior Two, as Beacon Hill Rovers went back up to second spot with a 3 – 1 home win over Wakering Sports in the early kick-off, moved to Plume Sch in Maldon. Nathan Ruggles, Ade Adeyemi and a late Stephen Bennett spot-kick saw Rovers to a fifth straight win and are seven points off leaders Leigh Town. Corinthians also endorsed their promotion chances with a 4 – 2 win at May & Baker Res. Alfie Knight, Ollie Brickwood, John Bolton-Smith and Dan Cooksley all netted for Chris Stoneham’s side who went above their opponents into fourth place. Ryan Leavens and Ricardo Teixeira struck for Jimmy Donald’s team though their own aspirations of elevation took a dent here as they have five matches left to play.

Senior Division Three

Finally for the round-up section in Senior Three, Wakebury failed to gain ground on leaders ACD Utd as they were held 0 – 0 by Toby Res at Shoebury Park. It looks increasingly likely that Corinthians Res are the biggest threat for the title though the Berries will still want to secure a top-two finish for the best chance of promotion. Elsewhere, Lakeside Res got their third win in their last five with an important 3 – 1 win at Collier Row. This win sent ‘Side up to ninth, four points clear of the bottom two and handed Row a setback in their focus for a top-three finish.

Also, Corinthians Res handed White Ensign Res another heavy loss as Terry Rose’s side won 6 – 0 at Stambridge Memorial Ground. It was an ensemble cast of scorers with Steve Solarin, Max Hall, Ashley Webb, Ryan Woodley, George Penfold and Taner Dagyaran all on target as the hosts remain third and cut the deficit to leaders ACD to six points with three matches in hand on them. Ensign’s second side have three matches left to get out of the bottom two, they sit second-bottom and are three points away from Basildon Town Ressies.

Premier Division

It was a day of mixed results for the top four in the Premier as Bishop’s Stortford Swifts new dawn continued as they defeated leaders Sungate 3 – 1 at Silver Leys. A brace from Jayden Hocking-Rising and one from fellow new recruit Matt Gill saw Billy Cove’s side up to tenth, four points clear of the bottom two. The ‘Gate saw their lead at the summit cut to three points as second-placed Leigh Ramblers won their local derby with Old Southendian 3 – 0 at Belfairs Park. Andrew Webster got a double here with Matt Allum getting the other goal as the Rams made it five wins from their last six outings. OS drop one to ninth, still too close for comfort to the bottom two.

Rayleigh Town powered to a 7 – 1 win at Basildon Town in one of a number of matches moved to 3G pitches this weekend with this one took place at Hannakins Farm Community Centre. Doubles for Paul Morris & George Vile were added to by Charlie Seaden, Bailey Moss and debutant Neil Richmond as Paul Higgins’ side sit 7th, five points off the top four with a huge 13 league matches remaining, thanks to recent postponements. Sam Green got a scant consolation for Bas who also have matches to make up, ditto Rayleigh. In their bottom-of-the-table clash in Beckton, Canning Town were held 1 – 1 by bottom side Harold Wood Athletic, with Reece Baker getting the goal for the visitors here.

Also, Buckhurst Hill defeated Springfield 4 – 0 in a match moved to St John’s 3G in Epping to advance to third spot, nine points behind the leaders with at least seven matches in hand on the top two.

Senior Division One

Now into Senior One, and Chingford Athletic continued their quest for the title as they defeated strugglers Toby 2 – 0 at Town Mead. Goals from Sam Coe and Luke Dimond were enough to give the hosts their third straight win. Toby are now four points adrift at the foot of the table. Old Chelmsfordians remain seven points off the leaders as they narrowly defeated Ramsden Scotia 1 – 0. Lakeside lost ground on the top three as Snaresbrook won their match 3 – 1. Jazreel David, Mitchell Collymore and Jermaine Purchas got the goals for ‘Brook as they went up to ninth and are one of three sides who have only played ten matches thus far. Ollie Pettit struck for ‘Side here.

Rayleigh Town Res rise to fifth after a 2 – 1 win over Shoebury Town in their match, moved to Beauchamps Sch. Rodney Wilson and Adam Bessadi strikes extended the unbeaten run for Lee Bunn’s side to five matches. Shoebury remain seventh after failing to win in their last six. FC Hamlets came back to hold Galleywood 1 – 1 at Hackney Marshes. Billy Kinchlea put ‘Wood ahead before player-boss Ashley King levelled as both sides remain in mid-table.

Senior Division Two

In Senior Two, with leaders Leigh Town not in action, Old Suthendian Res retained second spot with a 3 – 0 win over Rochford Town at Garon Park. Luke Stillwell, Ben Franklin and Jack Pagett all scored to give Ben Manley’s side a healthy win, despite Thomas Magerison’s dismissal reducing them to ten men. OS Ressies were further boosted last week as they were handed an additional two points as an opposition side fielded an ineligible player in a drawn match with OS late last year. Beacon Hill Rovers remain third after a battling 1 – 0 win at Harold Wood Athletic Res in the late game at Noak Hill. Ade Adeyemi got the goal as Rovers made it four wins on-the-bounce. Ath’s Ressies remain ninth, eight points adrift of Wakering Sports just above them, who also got a narrow win, 3 – 2 over AS Rawreth at Cupid’s. Ben Aston, Scott Clark and Mitchell Gleeson netted for Sports here over the fellow strugglers AS, who remain second-bottom.

Finally, Corinthians won 3 – 1 at a new-look Epping Town side, with Jake Hodder, Leo Clarke and Ollie Brickwood all on target for Chris Stoneham’s side, who go back up to fourth. They are eight points off Old Southendian Ressies, with four matches in hand on them. Town have lost four of their last five but perhaps their target now is stability in this division ahead of next term.

Senior Division Three

In Senior Division Three, ACD Utd are five points clear at the top after a 3 – 1 win at Toby Res. Player-manager Michael Wade got another double here to reach 15 league goals this season. Paul Mangan got the other goal though there was another milestone moment for the EOFL newcomers. Shaun Farrow and Connor Lambert both reached 100 appearances for ACD so congrats go to them. Connor Walk’s wind-assisted corner got the reply for Toby’s second-side though they slide to fifth.

Elsewhere, Corinthians Res edged to a 3 – 2 triumph over Lakeside Res at Stambridge. Max Hall’s hat-trick here takes him to 19 league goals, above Wakebury’s Charlie Little in the race for the ‘Golden Boot’ in this division. Harry Davison got both goals for Lakeside’s second team here though they remain third-bottom while Terry Rose’s side cut the gap to second-placed Wakebury to four points and they also have four matches in hand on the top two. Also, Hutton Res grabbed a 6 – 3 win over Basildon Town Res at Billericay School. Sean O’Callaghan led the way with a treble here, wit Stephen Judge, Conor O’Regan and George Wickings also on target as they go up to sixth. Jamie Miller’s double and Nicholas Bowers accounted for Town’s goals though they remain ninth.

Finally,  Collier Row went back up to fourth after a 5 – 3 win over Hullbridge Sports ‘A’ in the midday kick-off at the James Hornsby Centre 3G. Joshua Boswell, Will Bray and George Mole all scored for Sports though remain bottom, six points behind local rivals White Ensign Res.

Saturday 8 February

Premier Division

In the Premier Division, Sungate lead the division by nine points after a 3 – 2 win at Old Southendian. OS led at the break thanks to goals by Riley Oliver and Daniel Flack, though after the interval, a brace from Jonathan Ogunsanya and one from Danny Lopes turned the tide and ensured they left with the points. Meanwhile, it was a bad day for three of the ‘Gate’s rivals. Leigh Ramblers ere the only one of the top five before the weekend who won, as they defeated fellow title-chasers Buckhurst Hill 2 – 0, thanks to strikes by Andrew Webster and Pat Cannon. Wayne Seal’s side rise to second after their fourth win in their last six matches. Hill lost for the first time since the opening day f the campaign though still have seven matches in hand on the leaders, though they have 15 points to make up. Kelvedon Hatch rose to fifth after a fine 3 – 1 win over Catholic Utd to achieve a third straight win. Canning Town also won 3 – 1, at home to Springfield to get their third win in their last five matches to rise to seventh spot. The pressure is still on for them to accrue points though given they have five matches remaining this term.

Also, in their bottom of the table clash, Shenfield AFC edged to a 3 – 2 triumph over Harold Wood Athletic. Ben Absolon, Ben Carroll and Mitchell Day all scored for Shenfield with an OG and one from Adam Farley accounting for Ath’s goals. Shenfield rise up to 10th spot, while Harold Wood remain second-bottom.

Senior Lge Cup

In the one Senior League Cup tie this weekend, Division Four side Roydon pulled off a surprise 5 – 2 win over Premier Division side Basildon Town at Paringdon Sports Club. Braces from Lewis Watson and Sam Bentley were added to by Mo Benzid as the hosts went through to the next round. Keith King and Tommy Green struck for Town but they exited on a ‘bad day at the office’ for Gareth Cleverly’s side.

 

Senior ONE

Moving into Senior One now and leaders Chingford Athletic extended their lead at the summit to nine points with a 4 – 1 away win at Toby. Goals from Sam Coe, Garry Murray plus substitutes Trevor Harding and Lee Lashley got Dave Richbell’s side their eighth win in their last ten games. At the bottom, Snaresbrook rose to 11th spot with a fine 4 – 1 success at Ramsden Scotia. Drew Barbier, Nana Boachie, Daniel Walsh and Eric Kelly were all on target for ‘Brook who got their third win in nine matches this term.

Meanwhile, Ongar Town maintained their unbeaten run this term with a 3 – 1 win over Runwell Sports. Aaron Blair, Harry Rawlins and Jack Zielinski all hit the net for Town, with Joe Olley getting the goal for Runwell. Town rise to third place and still have matches in hand on the top two. Sports drop to third-bottom. FC Hamlets got the stat of the day though with a 7 – 1 win at out-of-form Herongate Athletic. Charlie Heatley got six goals himself for Hamlets, with Roy Hallowell getting a goal on his debut as Hamlets rise to 8th place, though have only played nine matches. Old Chelmsfordians were held 1 – 1 by Galleywood though remain second, while Lakeside drew 2 – 2 with Shoebury Town. Charlie Ashpole and Drew Klessa-Smith netted for ‘Side though they fell to fourth while Town remain seventh.

Senior TWO

In Senior Two, two of the five set matches were played. Leigh Town were given a tough test before coming through to win 3 – 2 against Old Southendian Res at John Burrows Rec. Shane Cooper’s double & one from Sam Irvine were enough to outweigh strikes by Luke Stillwell and Daniel Dowd and remain unbeaten this term. Ben Manley’s side also suffered a setback as skipper Oliver Tatton-Bennett suffered a suspected broken collarbone in this contest, we wish him well in his recovery.

Elsewhere, AS Rawreth got a good 3 – 0 over fellow strugglers Ryan at the Warren. Louis Hill, Rhys Willson and Bradley Pike all netted as the hosts grabbed their second win this term. Five straight defeats means Ryan remain bottom of the standings.

Senior Division Three

Into Senior Three, and with leaders Wakebury not in action, ACD Utd cut their lead at the summit to one point with a 1 – 0 win over Hutton Res at Westlands. Paul Mangan got the only goal here as ACD are now unbeaten in ten matches. Corinthians Res also won, 3 – 2 at Buckhurst Hill Res to remain third. Steve Solarin, George Brown and replacement Max Hall all scored for Terry Rose’s side. Hill’s Ressies stay 7th. Collier Row also won this weekend, 2 – 0 against Basildon Town Res in a match moved to Robert Clack 3G in Dagenham. Row fortify fifth spot after their eighth win this term.

Finally, Toby Res remained fourth as they won 2 – 1 at White Ensign Res, with the latter staying second-bottom, seven points off the top eight.

Hello and welcome to this week’s Essex Olympian League round-up, looking at all the action from Saturday 25th January. There were battles at both ends of the Premier Division as well as big games in the divisions below that.

Premier Division

As we usually do, we start in the top-tier. In their top of the table showdown, Buckhurst Hill were held to a goalless draw by rivals Sungate, in a match seen my Non-League Correspondent ‘DW’. His video clips are available via his Twitter feed sat @essexfootie. Also, Leigh Ramblers  got a fine 4 – 1 win at struggling Bishop’s Stortford Swifts. Charlie Portway netted for Swifts though that was outdone by goals for the Rams by Andrew Webster, Ryan Lowe , Pat Cannon and Dan Williams wich in turn secured the visitors their fourth win in their last games and rise to second spot, six points off leaders Sungate. Shenfield AFC also grabbed a hugely-important triumph as they won 4 – 1 at Canning Town. Alex Tredgett’s brace led the strugglers on the path to victory, with Ben Caroll and Samuel Lock also on target to send them up two places to 12th. Canning stay in eighth spot but only have seven matches remaining to play this season and they are only three points clear of the bottom.

Finally for the Premier, in the match I attended at Garon Park, Old Southendian got a big 4 – 0 win over title challengers Catholic Utd. Nick Henesy struck twice, with Nico Dubouchet and Ryan Stillwell’s also on target as OS ended a a four-match winless run in some style to rise to 10th. The ‘Super Hoops’ have lost their last three matches now and drop to 3rd and are vulnerable by the sides immediately below them in Buckhurst Hill, Springfield and Rayleigh Town who all have matches in hand on Dan Trenkel’s side. In Senior One, FC Hamlets defeated fellow mid-table side Shoebury Town 2 – 0, thanks to goals from John Gilroy and Charlie Heatley to move up to ninth, though Ashley King’s side have still only played eight matches in the league thus far, so a busy next three months or so beckons. Leaders Chingford Athletic won again, 3 – 0 at top five side Galleywood, thanks to a treble by Lee Lashley. Dave Richbell’s side lead the division by ten points, though their rivals all have a number of matches in hand on them. Old Chelmsfordians remain second after a thumping 6 – 1 success over Herongate Athletic at Lawford Lane. Ongar Town rise to third after a fine 4 – 0 home win over Manford Way which preserves their unbeaten record this term.

EOFL Senior TWO

In what was a mixed day for the top five in Senior Two, leaders Leigh Town were untroubled as they won 3 – 1 at home to Harold Wood Athletic Res at John Burrows Rec. Harry Payne, Daniel Driscoll and Brodie Horne all struck to give Jack Pearman’s side a sixth consecutive league triumph and go three points clear at the summit. May & Baker Res defeated fellow high-flyers Old Southendian Res as Jmmy Donald’s side came out 2 – 1 winners. Michael Agha and Darren Seymour strikes overturned David Stubbs’ strike for the OS side and went five points clear in 4th. Ben Manley’s OS side saw their eleven-match unbeaten streak end here though they remain 2nd, a point clear of Beacon Hill Rovers, who impressively won 3 – 2 at rivals Corinthians. A George Davis double and one from Adefunbi Adeyemi was enough to secure Rovers a sixth win in their last seven matches to stay 3rd. Chris Stoneham’s side drop to seventh though do have matches in hand to compensate for their dip in form of late.

Wakering Sports also won, 2 – 0 at home to out-of-form Epping Town. Ryan Gregory and Ben Rowe strikes were enough to give Sports a second win in their last seven outings. Epping remain fifth on goal difference after a frustrating afternoon. Laindon Orient are level on points with Town in sixth following a 6 – 0 win at home to beleaguered Ryan. Skipper James Shadwell got a treble with Carlos Dias, Jordan Walsh and Ashley Blackburn also on the score-sheet in a resounding win for Neil Blackburn’s team.

Senior Division Three

An explosive day of Senior Three action saw 37 goals scored in just five matches. Wakebury remain four oints clear at the summit after a 4 – 2 triumph at White Ensign Res. Charlie Little got another brace for Matt Cardy’s side, with Liam Jarrett and Harry Kateley also on the scorer’s sheet to make it four straight wins though with five matches remaining to play, the onus will soon turn to their rivals as they seek to gain ground on the EOFL newcomers. ACD Utd still lead the chasing pack in second place, after an enthralling 6 – 4 win over Basildon Town Res at Westlands. Player-boss Michael Wade got a treble here, with Connor Lambert also netting twice and Sam Payne also chipping in. Grant Cumming hit two for Bas, with Ryan Morgan and Lewis Wynne also on target though they remain second-bottom.

Corinthians Res also got back to winning ways with a narrow 4 – 3 win at bottom side Hullbridge Sports ‘A’. Max Hall’s hat-trick and one from Ashley Webb was enough to outdo home goals from William Bray, Tom Ranger and replacement Joseph Darby and remain third, six points ahead of Collier Row. Lakeside Res got their third win in their last four games with a 4 – 2 success at mid-table Toby Res. Salem Said got a brace, with Brandon Booty’s spot-kick and Damilola Olusanya also contributing. Toby’s second-side responded through Dean Maguchu and Marc Porter-Brown strikes though it is four losses on-the-bounce for them as they stay fifth, 11 points adrift of ACD in second.

Also, Buckhurst Hill Res rose to seventh with a 5 – 3 victory over fellow mid-table side Leigh Town Res. Tommy Fraine grabbed a treble to keep up his impressive form in front of goal, with Landry Gogoa also netting for the Hill second-side.

This weekend’s match took me to a new ground and to see two new teams as I travelled to Shoebury Park to see the Essex Olympian League Division Three encounter between newcomers Wakebury and last season’s Division Five champions Corinthians Res. Having seen the visitors’ first-team earlier this season, it would be intriguing to see how the second-side fared. Factor in that this was at kick-off a top-two clash then it just added to the pressure perhaps for both sides. Terry Rose’s visitors also were unbeaten prior to this match it must be noted. Anyway, Wakebury boss Matt Cardy named a strong side with Joe Robbins between the sticks, Elliot Khupe and Sam Rowe as full-backs alongside centre-backs Jack Smith and Ben Perry with Chris Gore skippering the side. Charlie Little, Danny Buglione and Ben Munway led the attack for Wakebury, who are in their first season as an Olympian League side. Harry Kateley and Mitchell Keen were among the substitutes for the hosts. Corinthians Reserves named Freddy Miglec in goal, Steve Solarin in midfield and a front two of Max Hall and Ryan Woodley, with Sonny Woodward, Matt Lee and Chay Saggers among the replacements.

The early stages of this match may have lacked a bit of finesse but it did not lack drama. Only six minutes in, the hosts were awarded a spot-kick, with forward Ben Munday taking responsibility. Unfortunately, his effort from 12 yards lacked the precision to bypass Corinthians goalkeeper Freddy Miglec who made a decent save to keep the score-line level. Credit to Wakebury though as the in the next phase of the match, they exerted heavy pressure on their opposition, with an array of set-pieces arrowing in towards the goal-mouth though Munday could only skew his effort wide of the target.

On the quarter-hour, Corinthians winger Taner Dagyaran fizzed in a cross in a neat counter-attack, though it was cleared by an observant defender with winger Luke Smith lurking behind him, poised to strike. The heat of battle was certainly rising as the half wore on though there wasn’t a huge array of guilt-edged chances to go with it. Just shy of the half-hour, visiting forward Max Hall sent a fierce drive which crashed back off the woodwork, although it wouldn’t have counted due to an assistant’s waving flag.

Former Basildon Utd and White Ensign forward Little was certainly a great outlet down the channels although when faced with a decreasing angle on 34 minutes, he could only fire wide and Munday also struck over moments later. It was the home side who had more of the chances though the next two chances were shared as Dagyran had an effort sail wide and moments later, ‘Bury defender Ben Perry’s header was also denied by Miglec from close range. The hosts’ frustrations were compounded on the stroke of half-time as from Sam Rowe’s free-kick from deep, forward Danny Buglione’s header went over the goal frame.

Goal-less it stood at the break, but it certainly didn’t stay that way for long as barely a minute into the restart, after home custodian Joe Robbins had made a smart initial save, forward Max Hall was there to strike home from close range, much to the delight of his side on the touchline. However, the lead was not to last. Four minutes afterward, Wakebury levelled as Little showed a touch of class by lashing home a dipping drive from 20 yards past the helpless Miglec into the roof of the net. Munday had a similarly powerful strike ruled out for off-side minutes later, though the hosts were increasingly in the ascendency.

Wakebury took the lead midway through the half as a neat curling finish from Little got his & his side’s second after peeling off to find that crucial half-yard of space from a slightly napping visiting defence on a corner. Corinthians tried hard to get their passing game going and although they had neat build-up play and pace to boot, they didn’t quite have the finishing or the physicality to overcome a tough Wakebury side. Dagyaran did have a half-chance for the visitors late on from another set-piece though his header was straight at Robbins. Then to add to their frustration, substitute Charlie Marden was dismissed for a tough challenge as we entered added time. It was the hosts who had the last word as Ben Munday powerfully struck past Miglec to secure ‘Bury’s tenth win of the campaign.

So it was ‘the Berries’ who took home the points and after abatting display at times, they ended the unbeaten league streak of Corinthians’ second-side. Without being churlish, it certainly helps to have a forward like Charlie Little in your side and although Little had a fine game, a number of other players stood out in my opinion for Matt Cardy’s team today. Winger Ben Munday was a threat and secured the win late on, with centre-back Jack Smith an absolute rock at the heart of the defence as well. Sam Rowe also put in a very energetic display at full-back, with the added option of his long throw-ins too. Corinthians had goalkeeper Freddy Miglec to thank for keeping them in the match early on as he made two very good saves from close range. Tricky winger Taner Dagyaran was promising down the flanks and centre-back Jamie Milbourn also did well for Terry Rose’s team.

Finally, I’d like to thank Wakebury’s management team of Matt Cardy, Daniel Blewett and secretary Jeff Cardy for the welcome they gave, it is appreciated. It was also good to see Terry Rose’s side in action for the first time, and although they may be quite raw in some facets of the game, it is also true that they are on a journey quite similar to the first-team as they also look to keep on an ‘upward curve’

Premier Division

In the top division, Rayleigh Town ended their barren spell with a stirring comeback to win 3 – 2 at Leigh Ramblers. Harry Talbot and a brace from Jamie Blewitt saw Paul Higgins’ team to a much-needed win and extend their cushion in sixth to four points. Ramblers had led through Patrick Cannon and Dan Williams goals though they remain third, they are five points adrift of leaders Sungate. The ‘Gate won 4 – 1 at Catholic Utd in the top-two battle at the Len Salmon Stadium, which was their third straight win. Springfield stay fifth after a 4 – 2 triumph over Old Southendian with Dave Wareham getting another brace, assisted by goals from Joe Nathanson and replacement Alfie Halliday. Ed Gould’s spot-kick and a Nick Henesy strike were not enough for Connor Lane’s side who slide back into the bottom two.

Elsewhere, Canning Town won a showdown of the bottom two sides, with a 3 – 1 victory at Shenfield AFC. Bishop’s Stortford Swifts were held 2 – 2 by Hutton at Silver Leys with Brad Freeman and Thomas Price scoring for the South Essex side. Kelvedon Hatch continue to struggle to attain wins as they were held 1 – 1 by Harold Wood Athletic at New Hall. John Bradley struck for Ath, though replacement Lee Hamill netted for Hatch, who sit 7th but are only five points clear of bottom side Shenfield in a congested lower half on the table.

 

Senior ONE

 

In this week’s Senior One action, Chingford Athletic extended their lead at the summit to nine points with a 3 – 1 win over Snaresbrook. Alex Gordon struck twice for Dave Richbell’s side, with Lee Lashley grabbing the other goal for the hosts. ‘Brook remain third-bottom after their sixth match in succession without a win. Shoebury Town got a second win in as many weeks with a massive 6 – 3 win at Manford Way. Dominic Binns was back in the goals with a brace for Town, with Mitchell Odd also nabbing twice plus Matthew Smith and replacement Jake Byford were also on target for Shoebury, who leap up to seventh. Manford responded through strikes by Kevine Kinzonzi, Felix Onyango and substitute Kyle Matthew-Thompson though it is five matches without victory now for them.

 

Elsewhere, second-placed Old Chelmsfordians were held 1 – 1 by mid-table Galleywood at Lawford Lane, with Sam Donn getting the goal for the visitors. Runwell Sports were 3 – 0 winners at fellow strugglers Herongate Athletic while the bottom two faced off in Newbury Park as Toby drew 2 – 2 with Ramsden Scotia.

Essex Premier Cup

 

In the two Essex Premier Cup ties  played this weekend, Basildon Town secured their progress into the next round with a 4 – 1 victory over Laindon Orient of Senior Two in a match moved to Waterside Leisure Centre’s 3G on Canvey Island. Keith King struck twice for the hosts with Brodie Horne and Kieran Case also on target for Gareth Cleverly’s side. Carlos Dias got the consolation for Laindon here though they went out. Also, Buckhurst Hill came from behind to power past Senior One hosts Rayleigh Town Res 5 – 2 at London Road. Braces for Fenti Falola and Tyer Jalland were added to late on by Eren Muti though credit has to go to Lee Bunn’s team for leading at the break.

 

EOFL Senior TWO

In the two surviving Senior Two matches this weekend, two of the high-flyers continued their good form. Leaders Leigh Town continued their unbeaten run with an impressive 4 – 2 win at Epping Town. The quartet of scorers for Leigh were Daniel Driscoll, Max Jones, Harry Payne and Sam Irvine. Epping responded through strikes by Glen Warwick and James Peagram though were hampered by a serious injury to goalkeeper Trevor Grace, we wish him well in his recovery. Take nothing away from Jack Pearman’s side though as Leigh are four points clear at the summit now. Corinthians also triumphed, 4 – 1 at strugglers AS Rawreth. Leo Clarke struck twice for Chris Stoneham’s side, with Nathan Dewberry and Ollie Brickwood also finding the net to push their side back into 3rd spot. Louis Hill notched again for Rawreth though it is ten straight losses for the bottom side now.

Senior Three

In Senior Three, a full programme of six matches was played and it wasn’t a day for the away teams here. ACD Utd dispatched White Ensign Res 5 – 0 at Westlands, with the ensemble cast of Billy Wren, player-boss Michael Wade, Liam Porter, Connor Lambert and Charlie Munns all on target for the hosts in their fourth consecutive victory. Wakebury also won to remain three points clear at the top of the table with a 5 – 0 victory over Hullbridge Sports ‘A’ at Shoebury Park. Charlie Little struck four goals himself here with Ben Munday grabbing the other for Matt Cardy’s side.

 

Corinthians Res remain second after a comfortable 3 – 0 success over strugglers Basildon Town Res at the Stambridge Memorial Ground. Max Hall, Steve Solarin and Luke Smith were all on the score-sheet here as Terry Rose & Ben Adams’ side made it eight wins from their nine matches thus far. Lakeside Res finally got their maiden win this term with a very hard-fought 4 – 3 win at home to Collier Row. David Alele, Harry Davison, Salem Said and Daniel Damain all struck to move ‘Side’s second team above the bottom of the standings.

 

Also, Leigh Town Res defeated Buckhurst Hill Res 5 – 2 at John Burrows Rec to remain in sixth and Hutton Res also secured a home win, 3 – 0 over Toby Res with Sean O’Callaghan’s double and one from George Wickings seeing them to a fourth win on-the-trot.
