Hello & welcome to another round-up of Bostik Division North action and South results that took place on Saturday 18th November. Enjoy.

Saturday 18th November

Bostik Division North

AFC Hornchurch  2 – 0  Hertford Town    |  Venue: Bridge Avenue

Two second-half goals were enough to seal another three points for the Urchins. Nathan Cooper [66’] gave the hosts the lead before Brad Warner secured the points three minutes from time. Results elsewhere meant that this win for Hornchurch takes them above Canvey into second place in the table. Despite Hertford’s defeat they sit in a respectable 9th place.

Barking   1 – 0  Canvey Island

| Venue: Mayesbrook Park    |   Attendance: 117

Barking edged this encounter of two in-form sides to claim another win at Mayesbrook Park. Abs Seymour’s 20th-minute goal was enough to extend Justin Gardner’s side’s undefeated run to seven matches, which brings them into the play-off spots. Canvey suffered only their second loss in their last ten matches though slip to third spot.

Brentwood Town   2 – 0   Haringey Borough

|  Venue:  Brentwood Arena   | Attendance: 112

Brentwood ended a recent dry spell to take the points at the Brentwood Arena. Matt Price gave the hosts the lead from the spot on 24 minutes before Shomari Barnwell doubled the advantage with 59 minutes on the clock. This was Town’s first win in four league matches while Borough’s long unbeaten start to the season was ended here, they sit 4th.

Bury Town  0 – 0    Bowers & Pitsea

| Venue: Ram Meadow         | Attendance: 279

These two top-half sides played out a stalemate at Ram Meadow. Bury Town are winless in three league matches and reside in 8th spot while Bowers are unbeaten in four matches, sitting in 5th spot, nine points behind leaders Dereham.

Grays Athletic   2 – 2   Mildenhall Town

|  Venue: Parkside      |   Attendance: 177

The visitors came from behind twice to share the points at Parkside. Kieran Bishop gave Ath the lead on 13 minutes, though Marcio Pereira levelled on the half-hour for the Hall. Bishop struck again, this from the spot [35’] as Grays once again held a slender lead though Daniel Brown restored parity seven minutes later to grab a point though Town’s winless stretch extends to eight matches now. Grays are winless in their last four matches and are currently 16th in the table.

Heybridge Swifts 1 – 2   Dereham Town  

|   Venue: Scraley Road       |   Attendance: 188

Swifts return to league action wasn’t quite what they hoped for as they lost out to leaders Dereham at Scraley Road. Jamie Forshaw grabbed the initiative for the visitors after seven minutes though Luke Callander levelled on the quarter-hour mark. Toby Hilliard restored the Magpies’ lead 13 minutes before the break. Even the late sending off of Hilliard didn’t stop Dereham from recording their 12th league win of the campaign. Heybridge fell to only their second loss in their nine league matches thus far.

Potters Bar Town  4 – 1    Norwich Utd

| Venue: Pakex Stadium       |   Attendance: 92

Potters Bar recorded a good win over strugglers Norwich Utd here. Michael Murray’s goal put the Scholars ahead ten minutes before the break. That lead only lasted four minutes before Tim Henery struck to equalise for the Planters. Murray struck again four minutes before the break as Potters Bar looked to assert control. That they did after the break as Murray completed his hat-trick on the hour mark then Steve Brown added a fourth five minutes later. The hosts sit in 10th spot while Utd third loss in their last five matches sees them remain second bottom, just a point clear of Romford.

Romford  1 – 1  Aveley

| Venue: Ship Lane       |   Attendance: 125

Romford struck late on to prevent Aveley picking up a much-needed win at Ship Lane. It was the Millers who took the lead when Alex Teniola [61’] struck though Ayodeji Olukoga levelled with three minutes remaining to extend the hosts’ recent draw streak to three matches. Aveley averted a four-match losing run here though they rise one place to 21st.

Soham Town Rangers  1 – 3   Maldon & Tiptree

| Venue: Julius Martin Lane       |   Attendance: 110

Maldon struck late to secure another three points, this time at Julius Martin Lane. Maldon led after only four minutes through top-scorer Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe. Jon Kaye restored parity for the hosts four minutes before the break. Soham may have thought they were on for a point though late goals from substitute Chris Millar [83’] and Ogedi-Uzokwe’s second from the spot on the stroke of full-time secured the points and extends the Jammers’ unbeaten run to ten matches and they are in 7th place. Soham’s first defeat in four matches sees them in 15th spot.

Waltham Abbey   2 – 2  AFC Sudbury

| Venue: Capershotts       |   Attendance: 86

The Suds denied Abbey the win late on in this topsy-turvy contest at Capershotts. Reece Dobson put Sudbury ahead on the half-hour though Shad Ngandu levelled on 62 minutes. Aron Gordon turned the tide of the match by giving Abbey the lead just five minutes later. Dobson hit back for the visitors though with eight minutes left to secure a point. The Abbotts sit 11th & have only lost one of their last six matches now while Sudbury are unbeaten in three league matches, sitting in 14th spot.

Ware   0 – 2   Tilbury

| Venue: Wodson Park        |   Attendance: 54

Tilbury struck twice in the last twenty minutes to claim the points in a match that was reversed (Tilbury were due to be at home) due to floodlight failure at Chadfields. So, Wodson Park held this match instead and goals from Adam Vyse [72’] and substitute Charlie Little [89’] secured the visitors’ first win in their last four matches. Ware though are bottom of the form table now as their winless run extends to eight matches.

Witham Town  3 – 2     Cheshunt

| Venue: Spa Road       |   Attendance: 79

Witham continued their good recent run with a narrow win over struggling Cheshunt at Spa Road. Kyle Roberts put the Ambers ahead five minutes before the break though Jeffrey Gyamfi replied just three minutes later to see Town level at the interval. The hosts took the lead from the spot through Elliott Ronto six minutes after the break, before Lance Akins extended the lead with three minutes left. Jason Hallett struck on the cusp of 90 minutes to not help the home side’s nerves though Town held on to pick up their fourth win in their last five matches while Cheshunt have only had one success in their last seven matches.

Bostik League Division North (& South) Midweek round-up (3.10.17)

Hello & welcome to the round-up of the action that took place in the Isthmian League Division North on Tuesday night, coupled with results from Bostik Division South in midweek. Enjoy.

Monday 2nd September

Aveley   1 – 3 Waltham Abbey

Venue: Parkside          |         Attendance: 266

Abbey grabbed a good win at Parkside in the sole Monday night match. Hot-shot Christian Assombalonga gave the visitors the lead after 16 minutes. Shad Ngandu doubled the lead on 33 minutes. After the break, Daniel Rimmel made the points safe with a third twelve minutes from time. Substitute Billy Coyne’s penalty three minutes from time was scant consolation for Terry Spillane’s men. Abbey had substitute Petrit Elbi dismissed late on though they still recorded their fourth league win of the season.

 

Tuesday 3rd October

AFC Hornchurch    2 – 2   Grays Athletic

Venue: Bridge Avenue          |         Attendance: 222

Grays hit back to end the Urchins’ 100% start to the campaign at Bridge Avenue. Sam Cross gave the visitors the lead nine minutes before half-time. Leon MCKenzie levelled for Hornchurch, before substitute Theo Fairweather-Johnson put the hosts ahead on 75 minutes. Grays sealed a point four minutes through Jack Fowler to end a five-match losing run in the league.

AFC Sudbury  1 – 1   Maldon & Tiptree 

Venue:  Wardale Williams Stadium         |         Attendance: 170

Maldon fought back to claim a draw at ten-man Sudbury. Louis Blake put the Suds ahead on 63 minutes though they were a man short after Alfie Carroll picked up two bookings in five minutes, being dismissed on 78 minutes. A minute later, Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe scored a spot-kick to give the Jammers a point and extend their unbeaten league run to four matches.

Barking   1 – 2   Haringey Borough

Venue: Mayesbrook Park     | Attendance: 79

Haringey defeated Barking to claim their sixth straight league win. Jorge Dtassi-Sambu gave the visitors the lead on the hour, before Anthony McDonald extended the lead five minutes later. Albert Levett ulled a goal back for Justin Gardner’s side a minute from time though the hosts’ recent four-match unbeaten run ended with this defeat.

Brentwood Town   2 – 1    Potters Bar Town

Venue: Brentwood Arena          |         Attendance: 87

Brentwood produced a comeback to defeat Potters Bar at the Brentwood Arena. Eoin Casey’s penalty after 20 minutes gave the Scholars the lead though Matt Price levelled 14 minutes later. It may have looked like a stalemate was coming though with seven minutes to play, substitute Brad Hunter struck to hand Brentwood their third league win of the season.

Bury Town  4 – 2  Hertford Town

Venue: Ram Meadow          |         Attendance: 231

Bury Town did most of the damage in the first-half to claim the win at Ram Meadow. Bradley Barber put the hosts ahead on 16 minutes, before Cemal Ramadan doubled the lead nine minutes before half-time. Ramadan struck from the spot two minutes after the re-start to give the hosts a commanding advantage. Darren Mills pretty much sealed the win three minutes later though late goals from Hertford’s Jay Lovell (80’) and Ollie Sharman (90’+3) gave Gavin Kelsey’s side some consolation.

Norwich Utd  0 – 3  Soham Town Rangers

Venue: Plantation Park          |         Attendance: 115

Soham ended the hosts’ hopes of a second straight win with a good display at Plantation Park. Lewis Clayton put the visitors ahead on the quarter-hour before Joe Carden doubled the lead three minutes after the re-start. James Tricks made the win safe with 22 minutes remaining. This was Soham’s third win of the league season.

Tilbury   2  – 6   Canvey Island

Venue: Chadfields          |         Attendance: 112

Canvey produced a sumptuous display to record their fifth straight league win. Sam Collins put the visitors ahead 13 minutes in, though Ryan Melaugh levelled on 36 minutes. Mitchell Gilbey gave the Islanders the lead again two minutes later. Adam Vyse levelled for the Dockers three minutes before the break. After the break, the visitors struck three times in 25 minutes to seal the points, Gilbey getting his brace on 51 minutes, Elliott Warren on 59 minutes and substitute Ryan Charles ten minutes afterward before Collins struck two minutes from time to seal his double and extend Canvey’s unbeaten league run to nine matches.

Ware 3 – 1  Cheshunt

Venue: Wodson Park          |         Attendance: 88

Ware took the points against out-of-form Cheshunt at Wodson Park. Elliot Charles put the Blues ahead on the quarter-hour. Hot-shot Yannick Kamanan made it two on 24 minutes though Manny Osei brought the Ambers back into it on the stroke of half-time. Kamanan got his second late on to seal Ware’s fourth win in their last six league matches.

Witham Town 0 – 2    Bowers & Pitsea

Venue: Spa Road          |         Attendance: 66

Bowers sealed the win with a quick-fire brace in the second-half at Spa Road. Ben Sartain ‘got the ball rolling’ with the opener on 61 minutes before James Thomas gave Rob Small’s side the initiative nine minutes later. Witham are now winless in their last five league matches.

Saturday 30th September

Bostik Division North

Bowers & Pitsea  1  – 3  Norwich Utd

Venue: Len Salmon Stadium   |   Attendance: 200

Bowers fell to a surprise defeat to out-of-form Norwich Utd at the Len Salmon. The Planters were two goals ahead through Hafeez Sanusi’s early brace (10’ & 17’) and on 64 minutes, Liam Jackson put the visitors in a very strong position. Substitute Tony Stokes pulled one back for Bowers though their bad afternoon was confirmed when Lewis Clark was sent off late on. This was Bowers’ first loss in six league matches while the visitors finally registered their first win of the campaign.

Canvey Island 1  – 0  Bury Town  

Venue:  Park Lane      |  Attendance: 288

Canvey  edged ten-man Bury Town at Park Lane. Town were reduced to ten with 15 minutes left as Darren Mills saw red. Mitchell Gilbey continued his recent goal-scoring prowess for the hosts with the only goal here with ten minutes remaining to seal Danny Heale’s side their fourth straight league win. Bury Town have lost their last two league matches, both of them 0-1.

Grays Athletic  0  –  1  Brentwood Town

Venue: Parkside   | Attendance: 172

Brentwood edged Grays to pick a fine win at Parkside. Andy Freeman popped up with the only goal just before half-time to the points and end a streak of five straight league defeats. Grays have now lost five league matches on-the-trot.

Hertford Town 2 – 1  Ware 

Venue: Hertingfordbury Park  |   Attendance: 379

Hertford continued their recent good form with victory here in front of a good crowd at Hertingfordbury Park. Brett O’Connor gave the hosts the lead on 31 minutes, before Michael Toner’s penalty on 61 minutes doubled the lead. Ware pulled one back through Murat Karagul with seven minutes left. Hertford have only lost one of their last six league matches while Ware fell to their fourth loss of the season.

Maldon & Tiptree   4  – 2   Tilbury

Venue: Park Drive   |   Attendance: 116

Maldon laid the foundations for this win in the first-half at Park Drive. The Jammers were well ahead at the break as first Ryan Gondoh put them ahead on 16 minutes. Hot-shot Junior Ogedi-uzokwe made it three by the break with a brace of penalties (20’ & 45’) and then grabbed his hat-trick on 67 minutes. Substitute Luke Hornsley grabbed a quick-fire brace (70’ & 74’) to keep it interesting for the Dockers though Maldon secured their fourth win of the season.

Romford  1 – 1  Witham Town

Venue: Ship Lane           |   Attendance: 74

Romford were held by Witham in which both sides could’ve done with a win. The Boro took the lead on the stroke of half-time through Chris Taylor. Though Town levelled 16 minutes into the second half through Tim Monsheju’s goal.  Romford’s winless run extends to seven league matches through the previous six were all defeats. Witham haven’t won in four league matches now either.

Soham Town Rangers   1 – 1   Barking

Venue: Julius Martin Lane              |   Attendance: 128

Barking maintained their good recent form with a point at Julius Martin Lane. Jay Knight’s spot-kick gave Justin Gardner’s side the lead on 16 minutes. Though Soham denied them the win with a penalty of their own three minutes from time, which Callum Russell duly converted. Soham are winless in their last four league matches while Barking are unbeaten in their last four matches.

Hello & welcome another round-up of the action in the Bostik League Division North here on my blog. Here’s the round-up of the action that took place on Bank Holiday Monday, followed by a run-down of the results in Bostik League Division South on the same day. Enjoy.

Monday 28th August

AFC Hornchurch 4 – 1   Romford

Venue: Bridge Avenue   Attendance: 244

The Urchins continued their fine start to the season with victory at Bridge Avenue. Kenzer Lee put the hosts ahead five minutes after the break, before Brad Warner doubled the lead only two minutes later. The quick-salvo was complete as George Purcell’s penalty on 58 minutes made it 3-0. Jamie Dicks grabbed a consolation for Romford with 21 minutes left though Warner got his second in injury-time to seal a handsome win for Jimmy McFarlane’s men.

AFC Sudbury 0  – 2   Mildenhall Town

Venue:  Wardale Williams Stadium    Attendance: 270

Mildenhall pulled off a decent win at Sudbury. Jacob Brown gave the visitors the lead just past the hour, before Danny Crow sealed the points with 21 minutes remaining to give the Hall three good points.

Canvey Island 3  – 0   Bowers & Pitsea

Venue: Park Lane    Attendance: 319

Grays Athletic 4  – 2  Aveley

Venue: Parkside   Attendance: 322

Grays came from behind to claim a good win in the first Parkside derby against landlords Aveley. Michael Osei put Aveley ahead on 20 minutes, before Joao Carlos levelled with nine minutes of the first half remaining. Kieran Bishop tucked away a penalty on the stroke of half-time to give Grays the lead. Glenn Wilson made it 3-1 with 18 minutes left before Kiernan Hughes-Mason first goal for the club sealed the win for Jamie Stuart’s side. Aveley got a late consolation from substitute Adam Bolle’s late penalty.

Haringey Borough  3 – 2  Cheshunt

Venue: Coles Park    Attendance: 155

Haringey fought back to narrowly defeat Cheshunt at Coles Park. Cheshunt took the lead through Mark Summers’ goal after 12 minutes. Michael O’Donoghue levelled for Borough, before Ralston Gabriel’s penalty put the hosts ahead with 12 minutes left. Jason Hallett equalised for the Ambers with five minutes to play, though Ramii Sherriff sealed the points for Tom Loizou’s side with moments to spare.

Hertford Town 1 – 1   Potters Bar Town 

Venue: Hertfordingbury Park    Attendance: 333

This intriguing tussle between these newcomers to the division ended all-square. Eoin Casey gave Potters Bar the lead nine minutes before the break. Hertford levelled just before half-time through Tommy Wade’s goal. The visitors had to play the last nine minutes with ten men as Lee O’Leary was dismissed.

Heybridge Swifts 5  – 0  Maldon & Tiptree

Venue:  Scraley Road   Attendance: 329

Heybridge thumped ten-man Maldon at Scraley Road. The hosts led after just three minutes as Ryan Henshaw struck. They made it two after only 12 minutes as Harrison Chatting scored to give them a cushion. Sam Bantick added to the Jammers’ pain only four minutes later to make it 3-0. And a forgettable afternoon got worse for the visitors Nicholas Akoto saw red 19 minutes from time. Late goals from substitutes Joe Gardner & Joshua Fagbohun (pen) sealed the rout for Jody Brown’s side.

Norwich Utd   1 –  3  Dereham Town

Venue: Plantation Park            Attendance: 194

Dereham pulled off a good away-day win at Plantation Park. Ashley Jarvis gave the Magpies the lead ten minutes in, before grabbing his and his team’s second 12 minutes before the break. Jarvis then completed an excellent hat-trick on 75 minutes. Both sides saw a player dismissed with eight minutes to go, Andy Eastaugh for Utd and David Hinton for Dereham. Liam Jackson grabbed a late consolation for the Planters two minutes from time.

Soham Town Rangers  2 – 2  Bury Town 

Venue: Julius Martin Lane    Attendance: 230

Bury fought back to claim a point at Julius Martin Lane. Soham led through Lewis Endacott’s goal on 11 minutes. Matt Allan extended the lead with eight minutes of the first period left. The tables turned though after the break as half-time substitute Ollie Hughes scored a minute after coming on. Fellow replacement Darren Mills sealed a point for Ben Chenery’s side just past the hour.

Tilbury 2 – 1 Brentwood Town

Venue: Chadfields   Attendance: 109

Tilbury edged Brentwood to claim the win at Chadfields. Adam Vyse gave the Dockers the lead after ten minutes, before Luke Hornsley doubled the lead with 25 minutes to play. Matt Price grabbed a goal back for the Blues though Gary Henty’s side held on.

Ware 2  –  1  Waltham Abbey

Venue: Wodson Park   Attendance: 93

Ware came from behind to grab another win at Wodson Park. Christian Assombalonga gave Abbey the lead on the half-hour. After the break, Marcus Milner levelled for the hosts. Right on the stroke of full-time, Yannick Kamanan popped up again to seal all three points for Kem Kemal’s side.

Witham Town  1 – 0  Barking

Venue: Spa Road     Attendance: 110

It was a case of ‘fine margins’ again for Barking as Witham secured a narrow win at Spa Road. Tim Monsheju got the only goal of the match just before the hour mark to give Adam Flint’s side the win.

Bostik League Division North Round-up (Matchday 3)

Hello & welcome another round-up of the action in the Bostik League Division North here on my blog. There’s a quick turnaround with most teams playing twice in three days over the Bank Holiday Weekend. Below the Division North round-up, there’s also a mention of the results from today’s matches in Bostik Division South. Enjoy.

Friday 25th August result

Aveley 2 – 1 Witham Town

Venue: Parkside    Attendance: 292

Aveley struck late on to deny Town and pick up a ‘smash & grab’ victory at Parkside. Elliot Ronto put the visitors ahead with 12 minutes remaining. Aveley levelled five minutes into injury-time though substitute Jack West before Aveley completed the turnaround two minutes later with fellow substitute Jordan Weston grabbing all three points after West’s flick on.

 

Saturday 26th August results

Barking 0 – 1 Heybridge Swifts

Venue: Mayesbrook Park     Attendance: 72

Heybridge picked up a narrow win at Mayesbrook Park. Juan Luque got the only goal with 18 minutes remaining to keep up their 100% record in the division so far this season.

Bowers & Pitsea 1 – 2  Haringey Borough

Venue: Len Salmon Stadium    Attendance: 102

Haringey picked up their second successive win at the Len Salmon Stadium after their FA Cup triumph last weekend. Micheal O’Donoghue gave Borough the lead ten minutes before the break. Borough substitute Michael Ademayui extended the lead for the visitors with six minutes left. Bowers grabbed a consolation through substitute and new signing Gavin Cockman four minutes from time though the visitors held on for their second win of the season.

Brentwood Town  5 – 2  Norwich Utd

Venue: The Brentwood Arena    Attendance: 120

Brentwood produced a five-star performance at the Brentwood Arena. The Blues took the lead on 19 minutes through Matt Price’s spot-kick. Harrison Georgiou doubled that lead seven minutes later, before Andy Freeman made it 3-0 on 37 minutes. The Planters pulled one back through Lawrence Cheese three minutes before the interval. The visitors reduced their arrears to one on 58 minutes thanks to Ben Jones’s goal. Brentwood rallied late on after some nerves as Price converted a second penalty and struck at the death to complete his hat-trick.

Bury Town  1 – 4  AFC Hornchurch

Venue: Ram Meadow   Attendance: 301

Hornchurch continued their unbeaten start to the season with a big win at Ram Meadow. Tobi Joseph put Hornchurch ahead after 13 minutes, before a Sam Mott OG levelled things for Town. After the break though, Hornchurch rallied to pick up the win as Brad Warner put the Urchins back ahead nine minutes after the restart. Joseph grabbed his second with 19 minutes left and substitute Theo Fairweather-Johnson made it four eight minutes from time.

Cheshunt  3 – 3   Canvey Island

Venue: Theobalds Lane    Attendance: 180

Canvey recovered to claim a point in a entertaining draw at Theobalds Lane. George Sykes gave the visitors the lead after just three minutes, before Jason Hallett levelled for the Ambers ten minutes after the break. Cheshunt then took the lead through Daniel Cheema on the hour before Mark Summers made it 3-1 with twenty minutes to go. The Islanders fought back in the last ten minutes as goals from substitute James Walker and Ashley Dumas sealed a point for Danny Heale’s men.

Dereham Town  2- 0  AFC Sudbury

Venue: Aldiss Park     Attendance: 210

Dereham continued their impressive start to the season with this win at Aldiss Park. Ashley Jarvis gave the Magpies the lead seven minutes into the second half. Sudbury were reduced to ten men with 16 minutes left as Julian Smith was dismissed. Daniel Beaumont’s penalty just a minute later sealed the win for a Dereham side yet to concede a goal in three matches.

Maldon & Tiptree  2 – 3  Hertford Town

Venue: Park Drive      Attendance: 87

Hertford upset Maldon at the death to claim a big win at Park Drive. Daniel Bond gave Hertford the lead twenty minutes in, before Ryan Clampin levelled for the Jammers on the stroke of half-time. Michael Toner put Hertford back ahead with 13 minutes left. Maldon thought they’d grabbed a point as Ryan Gondoh levelled with minute to play. Though in injury-time, Maldon’s Nicholas Akoto was sent off for two bookable offences. Seconds later, Jason Beck’s goal pinched the win for the Bostik North newcomers, their first of the campaign.

Mildenhall Town 1 – 0 Ware

Venue: Recreation Way    Attendance: 177

Mildenhall picked a narrow win over ten-man Ware at Recreation Way. Ware had to play 59 minutes with ten men as Ahmed Abdullah was dismissed just after the half-hour. Two minutes after the break, Shaun Avis broke the deadlock with the only goal of the game to grab an important three points for the Hall.

Potters Bar Town  3 – 1  Soham Town Rangers

Venue:  Pakex Stadium   Attendance: 126

Potters Bar continued their excellent start to the season with a good win over Soham at the Pakex Stadium. The Scholars took the lead after 12 minutes through William Wambeek. Soham were reduced to ten men on 24 minutes as Harry Norman saw red. Soham did level five minutes later from a James Tricks penalty, though Micheal Murray restored Potters Bar’s lead with two minutes of the first half left. Six minutes after the restart, Murray grabbed his second to make the points safe for Steve Ringrose’s side.

Romford  4 – 1 Tilbury

Venue: Ship Lane   Attendance: 82

Romford powered to a good win over Tilbury at Ship Lane. Jonathon Nzenga gave the hosts the lead on the quarter-hour. Luke Hornsley levelled for the Dockers a minute before half-time. Romford pushed on after the break, as Ben Clarke restored their lead ten minutes after the interval. Nzenga grabbed his second twenty minutes from the end and Chris Taylor made it four with six minutes remaining.

Waltham Abbey  2 – 1  Grays Athletic

Venue: Capershotts     Attendance: 114

Abbey came from behind to grab the win at Capershotts. Kieran Bishop gave Grays the lead after 25 minutes. Abbey levelled though through a Christian Assombalonga penalty eight minutes after the break before Darelle Russell grabbed the winner with 15 minutes remaining.

2017/18 FA Cup Prelim Round: Results round-up

Hello & welcome to a special round-up of some of the results from this weekend’s FA Cup Prelim Round ties, specifically involving Essex Senior League & Bostik Division Clubs. The winners of each receive £1,925 in prize money & a place in the First Qualifying Round of the competition.

Saturday 19th August

AFC Hornchurch  2 – 0 Brentwood Town   

Venue: Bridge Avenue   Attendance: 309

The Urchins progressed to the next round, defeating fellow Bostik North side Brentwood at Bridge Avenue. Both goals came in the second half from Hornchurch striker Ross Wall (64’ & 84’). Craig Shipman’s side will have to wait another season for a potential FA Cup adventure.

AFC Sudbury 4 – 0 Aveley

Venue: Wardale Williams Stadium   Attendance: 174

Sudbury comfortably defeated fellow Bostik North side Aveley at the Wardale Williams Stadium. The Yellows took the lead through Julian Smith with 27 minutes on the watch. Three minutes before the break, Adam Mills doubled the home side’s advantage. After the break, two goals in ten minutes from Dave Cowley (60’) and Alfie Carroll (69’) sealed the win for Jamie Godbold’s side.

Barking 0 – 0 Saffron Walden Town

Venue: Mayesbrook Park    Attendance: 76

Barking held Thurlow Nunn Premier side Saffron Walden Town at Mayesbrook Park. This stalemate means that both sides will have to do it all again at Catons Lane in midweek.

Bowers & Pitsea 0 – 2 Haringey Borough

Venue: Len Salmon Stadium    Attendance: 174

Haringey overcame Bowers at the Len Salmon. The visitors led on 67 minutes as former Bowers player Ayron Coley struck, soon after coming off the bench. Borough made their progression into the next round safe with moments left as fellow substitute Ashley McDonald grabbed their second.

Bury Town 1 – 2  Tilbury

Venue: Ram Meadow    Attendance: 233

Tilbury fought off a late fightback from Bury Town to make it into the hat for the next round at Ram Meadow. Tilbury led after the quarter-hour through Adam Vyse before just past the hour mark, fellow striker Luke Hornsley doubled their lead. Darren Mills pulled one back for Town with 21 minutes remaining.

Canvey Island 0 – 2  Witham Town

Venue: Park Lane    Attendance: 224

Witham Town produced a good away-day win to defeat Canvey at Park Lane. Tyler Corlett put the visitors ahead on 21 minutes. Substitute Sam Ashford secured the win late on for Adam Flint’s men.

Clapton 2 – 0 Norwich Utd  

Venue: Old Spotted Dog   Attendance: 122

Clapton secured their passage into the next round by defeating Bostik North side Norwich Utd at the Old Spotted Dog. Substitute Raphael Duyile put the Tons ahead three minutes before the break. After the interval, Ikem Odeh sealed an important win twenty mnutes from time for Jon Fowell’s men.

Dereham Town 3 – 0  Corby Town

Venue: Aldiss Park    Attendance: 164

Bostik North side Dereham grabbed a good win at home to Corby Town. After only three minutes, Daniel Beaumont put the Magpies ahead. Dereham sealed the win with two goals in the last ten minutes courtesy of Ashley Jarvis and Beaumount grabbing his brace. Credit has to go to Corby goalkeeper Paul Bostock who played in this match aged 47 – best wishes to him.

Grays Athletic 2 – 0 Redbridge

Venue: Parkside   Attendance: 174

Grays defeated ESL side Redbridge on the 3G at Parkside. Sully Zuhdu gave the hosts the lead seven minutes before the break. Then, just six minutes after the re-start, Joao Carlos doubled the lead and ensured Jamie Stuart’s side are in the next round.

Great Yarmouth Town 1 – 0 Basildon Utd

Venue: Sandown Road    Attendance: 163

Great Yarmouth grabbed a late winner to knock out ESL side Basildon Utd in a tightly-contested match at Sandown Road. Substitute Lee Roots grabbed the winner eight minutes from time to seal the hosts’ passage into the next round.

Haverhill Rovers 1 – 1 Heybridge Swifts

Venue: The New Croft    Attendance: 188

This hard-fought encounter ended in a draw. Heybridge were reduced to ten men after just 15 minutes as defender Ryan Henshaw saw red. Swifts took the lead just three minutes later though, as Sam Bantick struck. Rovers recovered after the break though to seal a replay as Jordan Palmer scored 12 minutes from time. The replay will be played at Scraley Road in midweek.

Hertford Town 4 – 1   Hadleigh Utd

Venue: Hertingfordbury Park   Attendance: 260

Bostik North newcomers defeated Thurlow Nunn Premier side Hadleigh at Hertingfordbury Park. Hertford led after just two minutes through Daniel Bond. Jason Beck doubled the lead just before the break. Hadleigh pulled one back from the spot, thanks to Ben Elliott’s penalty on the hour. Hertford pushed on though as Bond got his second nine minutes later. Substitute Charlie Ruff grabbed a fourth for Town on 74 minutes, soon after coming on.

Ilford 1 – 1 Haverhill Borough

Venue: Cricklefield   Attendance: 82

Ilford were held by Thurlow Nunn Premier side Borough at Cricklefield. Khadean Campbell gave the Foxes the lead ten minutes before the break with a curling 20-yard strike. Borough were level only eight minutes later though as Sam Hawley struck. Ilford had to see out the last 17 minutes with ten men but they held on for a replay at New Croft 3G in midweek.

Long Melford 1 – 2 FC Romania

Venue: Stoneylands    Attendance: 84

FC Romania secured their place in the next round with a good win at Stoneylands. Sergiu Pitaru gave FCR the lead with 26 minutes on the clock, before Toby Cleaver doubled the lead eight minutes before the break. Melford raised their game in the second half, and grabbed a goal back six minutes from time though substitute Nathan Rowe. The visitors held on though for a good win.

Maldon & Tiptree 5 – 1 Waltham Abbey

Venue: Park Drive   Attendance: 73

Maldon knocked out fellow Bostik North side Abbey at Park Drive. The home side took the lead on the quarter-hour through Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe. Only two minutes later, Chris Millar made it two. Macauley Joynes pulled one back for the Abbotts seven minutes before the break. After the break, Kieraan Bailey restored the Jammers’ two-goal cushion on 55 minutes, before Ogedi-Uzokwe grabbed his second two minutes later. Ryan Gondoh added a fifth from a super free-kick to seal a good win for Kevin Horlock’s men.

Newmarket Town 1 – 2 Ware

Venue: Ridgeons Stadium   Attendance: 100

Ware secured a good away-day win at Newmarket to make the next round. Yannick Kamanan put Kem Kemal’s side ahead after only five minutes. A Jack Watson penalty levelled things for the home side, before Kamanan struck again 12 minutes into the second half to grab the win for the Blues.

Potters Bar Town 4 – 1 West Essex

Venue: Pakex Stadium      Attendance: 121

Potters Bar recovered from faling behind to record a good win over ESL side West Essex at the Pakex Stadium. Michael Mignot gave the visitors the lead six minutes before the break. George Nicholas levelled for the Scholars almost immediately, before Eoin Casey put the hosts ahead on 52 minutes. Steve Brown grabbed a third mid-way into the second half, before Casey sealed the win with his second with twenty minutes left.

Soham Town Rangers 3 – 2 Cogenhoe Utd

Venue: Julius Martin Lane   Attendance: 123

Soham edged to an important win over Cogenhoe Utd. Two goals in a four-minutes spell saw Soham take the advantage through Daniel Buddle (36’) and Matt Allan (39’). After the break, the visitors pulled one back through Matt Long levelled thanks to Ryan Dove. Soham’s Callum Russell grabbed the winner with 15 minutes remaining.

Southend Manor 2 – 3 Gorleston

Venue: Southchurch Park   Attendance: 64

Manor narrowly lost out to Thurlow Nunn Premier side Gorleston at Southchurch Park. Manor took the lead through Michael Hopkins two minutes after the break. Jack Garrod levelled for the visitors on 58 minutes, before taking the lead five minutes later through Connor Deeks’s penalty. Stuart Marshall’s side were reduced to ten men as winger Alfie Lindfield was sent off. Manor fought back though and levelled through defender Daniel Okah’s over-head kick. The hosts probably thought they’d done enough for a replay though Gorleston’s Garrod grabbed his second in injury-time to seal the win for Ricci Butler’s side.

Stowmarket Town 1 – 1 Romford

Venue: Humber Doucy Lane

Romford held Stowmarket Town at Humber Doucey Lane. The home side took the lead through Andrew Wood four minutes before the break. Paul Martin’s side levelled on 53 minutes through Jonathon Adebayo to get back in the match and the sides couldn’t be separated so it’ll be a replay at Ship Lane in midweek.

Tower Hamlets 0 – 4 Takeley

Venue: Mile End Stadium    Atendance: 55

Takeley saw off ESL rivals Tower Hamlets to make it through to the First Qualifying Round for the first time. Mitchell Das put the visitors ahead after six minutes, before George Wappett increased the advantage eight minutes later. Bryn Thorpe added a third though it may have been an OG. Stuart Zanone sealed a good win for his side with three minutes remaining.

Sunday 20th August

St Margaretsbury 2  –  2 Hullbridge Sports

Venue: The Recreation Ground

Hullbridge fought back to deny St Margaretsbury and take the tie to a replay. Hullbridge took the lead through Sam Dulieu’s free-kick after only four minutes. St Margetsbury levelled through captain Ryan Wade’s penalty on 54 minutes. The hosts then took the lead with twenty minutes remaining as Wade struck again from the penalty spot. Hullbridge secured a replay with a last-gasp leveller from substitute Ronnie Pallett. The replay will be held at Lower Road in midweek.

The First Qualifying Round takes place on the weekend of September 2nd/3rd. Thank you for reading.

Bostik Division North Results round-up – Matchday #2

Hello & welcome to the round-up of action that transpired in Bostik League Division North in midweek (Monday-Wednesday).

Monday 14th August Result

Haringey Borough  1  –  1  Barking

Venue: Coles Park       Attendance: 188

Haringey came back from behind to hold the Blues at Coles Park. Glen Golby & Justin Gardner’s side took the lead after 25 minutes through a goal from Ricky Tarbard. The task for Borough got harder when Jorge Dtassi-Sambu saw red just before the hour mark. The ten men did find an leveller though as defender Scott Mitchell’s goal sixteen minutes from the end ensured it was honours even.

Tuesday 15th August Results

Bowers & Pitsea  3  –  0  Witham Town

Venue: Len Salmon Stadium      Attendance: 160

Bowers comfortably swept aside ten-man Witham at the Len Salmon Stadium. Bowers forward Tony Stokes scored from the penalty spot after 34 minutes to give Rob Small’s men the lead. Adam Flint’s side saw Ryan Imbert dismissed early in the second half as their evening got ever-tougher. Stokes converted another spot-kick ten minutes into the second half before Lewis Manor made the points safe only two minutes afterward.

Canvey Island  2  –  3 Tilbury

Venue: Park Lane     Attendance: 268

Tilbury resisted a Canvey fight-back to take all three points at Park Lane. The Dockers took an early lead just three minutes in through Kurt Smith’s opener. Smith then scored at the other end as Canvey levelled, before Ryan Charles’ goal six minutes before the break gave Danny Heale’s side the lead. Tilbury roared back though late on as goals from Adam Vyse and Smith again sealed a good win for Gary Henty’s side.

Cheshunt  1  – 3  Ware

Venue: Theobalds Lane   Attendance: 147

Cheshunt suffered their second successive loss at the hands of a resurgent Ware at Theobalds Lane. The Ambers took the lead five minutes before the break thanks to Tom Bruno’s opener. Ware recovered well after the interval though, levelling through Yannick Kamanan’s goal seven minutes into the second half. Ware sealed the points with further second-half goals by Murat Karagul (65’) and substitute Finbarr Robins (87’).

Hertford Town  0  –  6  Bury Town 

Venue: Hertingfordbury Park         Attendance: 209

Bury Town bounced back from Saturday’s draw by demolishing newcomers Hertford Town at Hertingfordbury Park. Glenn Draper’s OG gave Town the lead eight minutes in, before Leon Ottley-Gooch put Ben Chenery’s side two-up at the break. After the break, Town piled on the goals with Ollie Cenfer (49’), Ryan Jolland (69’), and a late Ollie Hughes brace in the last eleven minutes sealed a big win for the visitors.

Maldon & Tiptree  A  –  A   AFC Sudbury 

Venue: Park Drive        Attendance: 143

This match was abandoned at half-time due to floodlight failure. The Yellows had taken the lead thanks to L’heureux Menga’s calm finish mid-way into the first half. Maldon levelled through Junior Ofelia-Uzokwe’s tap-in with ten minutes of the half remaining. However, the match was halted as the lighting became steadily worse and this match will be replayed later in the season.

Mildenhall Town   0  – 1    Dereham Town 

Venue: Recreation Way     Attendance: 204

Dereham picked up another narrow win, this time at Recreation Way. The match was only settled with moments left as Jake Anema’s strike was the deciding goal that gave the Magpies their second win on the trot.

Potters Bar Town   2 – 1   Brentwood Town

Venue: Pakex Stadium      Attendance: 130

Potters Bar fought back to claim an important win at the Pakex Stadium. Brentwood took the lead through Matt Price after 25 minutes. As half-time was approaching, the Scholars levelled thanks to Steve Brown’s goal. With five minutes remaining, Lee O’Leary pounced to give Steve Ringrose’s side their second win of the season.

Soham Town Rangers  4  – 1    Norwich Utd  

Venue: Julius Martin Lane        Attendance: 134

Soham recovered from the previous weekend’s loss to hand Norwich Utd their second straight loss. Soham led through Joe Carden’s goal eight minutes before the break. Two goals in the space of eight minutes after the break from Lewis Endacott (56’) and Marcus Hall’s penalty (64’) gave Robbie Mason’s side a comfortable cushion. The Planters pulled one back through Adam Hipperson though Soham’s Matt Allan scored a late fourth to give his side a good win.

Waltham Abbey  0  –  1   Aveley    

Venue: Capershotts             Attendance: 105

Aveley pulled off a narrow win at Capershotts. Tommy Spillane’s 21st-minute goal was enough to give the Millers the points & their first win of the campaign.

Wednesday 16th August Results

Grays Athletic 0  –  2  AFC Hornchurch

Venue: Parkside       Attendance: 377

Hornchurch fought to a good win at Parkside. The Urchins led through Bradley Warner with 15 minutes to play. The visitors were awarded a penalty just four minutes later, which resulted in Grays’ Glenn Wilson being sent off. Unfortunately, forward Leon McKenzie had his penalty saved by Grays goalkeeper Lamar Johnson. Hornchurch did get a second goal however, as with moments remaining, George Purcell securing the points for their second win of the campaign.

Romford   1 – 5    Heybridge Swifts

Venue: Ship Lane        Attendance: 127

Heybridge produced a superb performance to defeat ‘Boro at Ship Lane. The visitors went ahead on 21 minutes through Sam Bantick’s opener. Only four minutes later, Luke Callander doubled Swifts’ advantage. Just past the hour, Juan Luque made it three. Romford grabbed a goal back thanks to Jonathan Nzenga on 71 minutes. Late on, Heybridge inflicted further pain on the home side as Luque got his second ten minutes from the end and with the match in its final moments, Harrison Chatting added a fifth.

This match was Romford Manager Paul ‘Magic’ Martin’s 400th league match in charge of the side; many congratulations go to Paul for his long, successful reign in charge of the club, thus far.

This weekend, Bostik North clubs are involved in the FA Cup Prelim Round, the action in the league returns on Friday/Saturday 25th/26th August.

Saturday 12th August Results

AFC Hornchurch 3 – 0 Soham Town Rangers  

Venue: Bridge Avenue        Attendance: 168

Jimmy McFarlane’s Urchins started the season with a good win against Soham at Bridge Avenue. New signing Brad Warner put the home side ahead after just six minutes. Hornchurch made the win safe with goals from George Purcell  on 72’ and substitute Ross Wall added a late third with six minutes left.

AFC Sudbury 1 – 1 Canvey Island   

Venue: Wardale Williams Stadium      Attendance: 384

This battle of the two recently-relegated clubs ended all square. Canvey took the lead just before the break through George Sykes. Jamie Godbold’s Sudbury got a late leveller three minutes from time though thanks to forward Adam Mills.

Aveley 1 – 3 Bowers & Pitsea

Venue: Parkside    Attendance: 354

Bowers were the party-poopers at Aveley in their first league match at their new Parkside home. All the goals came in the second half. Bowers took the lead through Fahad Nyanja’s opener ten minutes after the interval. Rob Small’s side doubled their advantage on 66 minutes thanks to forward Lewis Manor. Terry Spillane’s men pulled one back four minutes later thanks to Jordan Peart’s goal. Manor struck again though for the visitors nine minutes from time to seal a good win for one of last season’s surprise packages.

Barking 2 – 3 Waltham Abbey

Venue: Mayesbrook Park   Attendance: 85

Barking narrowly lost out in their first match back at Step 4. Abbey took the lead ten minutes in through Billy Holland’s opener. Ben O’Brien levelled for Glen Golby & Justin Gardner’s men. The visitors re-took the lead thanks to goals from Darelle Russell and new signing Christian Assombolonga, before the hosts made it a nervous end thanks to Billy Jones’ penalty late on.

Brentwood Town 2 – 2 Hertford Town

Venue: The Brentwood Arena      Attendance: 144

Brentwood began their campaign with a draw against newly-promoted Hertford Town at the Brentwood Arena. It started well for Craig Shipman’s side as Matt Price gave them the lead after just five minutes. Forward Harrison Georgiou doubled that lead five minutes before the break. To their credit, Hertford responded with two goals in four minutes in the last quarter of the match. First, Charlie Edwards scored then just three minutes later Ollie Sharman levelled. Brentwood finished the match with ten men as Georgiou was sent off late on.

Bury Town 1 – 1 Romford

Venue: Ram Meadow   Attendance: 318

Bury Town & Romford shared the points at Ram Meadow. Paul Martin’s side took the lead through Jonathan Nzenga’s goal with 18 minutes left. The Blues responded though with nine minutes remaining as Cemal Ramadan’s goal ensured a point for Ben Chenery’s side.

Dereham Town 1 – 0 Cheshunt  

Venue: Aldiss Park    Attendance: 161

Dereham picked a narrow but nonetheless decent win over Cheshunt at Aldiss Park. Jamie Forshaw grabbed the only goal of the game just after the hour mark in Neal Simmons’ first league match in charge.

Heybridge Swifts 2 – 1 Mildenhall Town

Venue: Scraley Road      Attendance: 172

Heybridge picked up an opening-day win against newly-promoted Mildenhall at Scraley Road. Reece Grant grabbed a first-half brace to give Jody Brown’s side the advantage at the break. Mildenhall pulled one back from the penalty spot thanks to Christopher Bacon 13 minutes from time. The visitors were reduced to ten men late on as Jake Kerins saw red for two bookable offences.

Norwich Utd 0 – 2 Haringey Borough

Venue: Plantation Park    Attendance: 124

Haringey pulled off a good win at Plantation Park. An OG from Andy Eastaugh after just six minutes put Tom Loizou’s side ahead. A late second from substitute Michael Ademayui made the points safe.

Tilbury  1 – 2  Grays Athletic              

Venue: Chadfields     Attendance: 202

Grays grabbed all three points late on at Chadfields. Jamie Stuart’s side took the lead eight minutes after the break thanks to talismanic striker Kieran Bishop. Tilbury levelled six minutes from time through Emiel Aiken’s goal. Though Grays were not to be denied as a late penalty from Bishop sealed the win.

Ware  0 – 1  Maldon & Tiptree         

Venue: Wodson Park     Attendance: 95

Maldon started their season with a narrow win at Wodson Park. Forward Chris Millar got the game’s only goal four minutes before the break to give Kevin Horlock’s men the perfect tonic as they set about another promotion charge this season.

Witham Town 1 – 2 Potters Bar Town

Venue: Spa Road   Attendance: 72

Potters Bar came from behind to grab a good win at Spa Road. All the goals came in a frantic three-minute period. First, Witham took the lead thanks to Usman Adeniji’s goal four minutes after the re-start. Only a minute later, the visitors levelled through Eoin Casey. And only moments later, George Nicholas scored what ended up being the winner on a good day for Steve Ringrose’s side.

Ryman League Division North Round-up – Saturday April 22nd 2017

Hello & welcome to another round-up of action that took place on the final weekend of the Ryman League Division North league season on Saturday (22nd April) & after the results, check out the final table to see where your side finished at the end of the league season.

UPDATE: Including the play-off semi-final Results & goal-scorers.

AFC Hornchurch 1  – 4  Bowers & Pitsea          Attendance: 247

Bowers came from behind to end a memorable season with a thumping win at Bridge Avenue. Hornchurch started well by opening the scoring on 17’ thanks to Leon McKenzie’s goal. Eight minutes later, Callum Leahy levelled for Rob Small’s men. Six minutes after the break, hot-shot Brad Warner put Bowers ahead before Lewis Manor doubled the lead on 57 minutes. Warner grabbed his second late-on to give the visitors a big win though they fell a point short of the play-offs, though 6th place still shows Bowers have had a brilliant first season in Ryman North. Hornchurch finish 4th and will face Thurrock away in the play-offs next week.

Cheshunt 2  –  2  Brightlingsea Regent     Attendance: 152

Cheshunt held champions Brightlingsea to a creditable draw at Theobalds Lane. Robbie Rees put Regent ahead on the quarter-hour before Jason Hallett levelled for the home side nine minutes later. Just after the hour mark, Billy Hunt once again gave Regent the lead, before a late goal from Tom Bruno meant that Cheshunt ended a run of three straight league defeats here, finishing in 10th spot, eight points off the top five. Regent continued their long unbeaten run away from home, and go up to the Isthmian Premier Division with a total of 103 points in a brilliant campaign for James Webster’s side.

Dereham Town 2   –  3  Tilbury         Attendance: 158

Tilbury edged to victory at Aldiss Park in what was long-serving Dereham manager Matt Henman’s final match in charge. The Dockers took the lead through Emiel Aiken nine minutes before the break. With 13 minutes remaining, substitute Reece Conway doubled the visitors’ lead. Dereham reduced their arrears two minutes later when hot-shot Ryan Crisp struck. Tilbury were reduced to ten men with nine to go after Arinse Uade saw red for two bookings.  Aiken struck with moments left to double Tilbury’s advantage. Crisp grabbed his & Dereham’s second of the afternoon just before the final whistle came, Dereham end the season winless in eight league matches, in 18th place. Tilbury finish unbeaten in their last five league matches, in 12th spot.

Great Wakering Rovers   1 –  4   Bury Town        Attendance: 118

Wakering waved goodbye to the Ryman North with a disappointing defeat at Burroughs Park. A four-goal blitz in 12 minutes before half-time sealed it for Bury Town. Josh Mayhew put Town in front on 33 minutes. Only five minutes later, Mayhew grabbed his & Bury’s second of the match. As Half-time approached, Luke Read struck a quick-fire double to all but win it for Ben Chenery’s side. Wakering did pull one back through Neil Richmond with 20 minutes left though they finish the season bottom of the table and will go into the Essex Senior League next season hoping for a swift return. Bury finish the season unbeaten in their last six matches, in 11th place.

Haringey Borough  2  – 1     Norwich Utd       Attendance: 122

Haringey picked up the positive result they needed late on to secure the final play-off-spot at Coles Park. Haringey opened the scoring only five minutes in, thanks to an OG by Norwich’s Andy Wilton. Norwich Utd levelled through Christy Finch midway through the first-half. Haringey secured the points late on thanks to hot-shot Rolston Gabriel, their third straight league win. Haringey finish 5th, and take on Maldon & Tiptree away in mid-week.

Heybridge Swifts    3  – 2      Phoenix Sports      Attendance: 231

Heybridge produced a stirring comeback to avoid the drop at Scraley Road. Phoenix took the lead on the quarter-hour thanks to Kweku Ansah’s goal. Zak Bryon doubled their advantage ten minutes later. Four minutes after the break, Heybridge started their comeback as Lewis Godbold struck. Only five minutes afterward, George Cole levelled for Swifts. The home side’s survival mission got harder when they had Reece Grant sent off with 25 minutes left. Though Heybridge would not be denied as Godbold got his second goal 11 minutes from time to ensure his side stay up on goal difference. Heybridge finish 21st, while Phoenix finish a very creditable 9th.

Romford    0  –  0   Aveley               Attendance: 102

Romford ended their season with this shut-out at Ship Lane. Romford had to play 29 minutes with ten men as Greg Akpele was sent off for two bookable offences. Romford finish in 16th place with 56 points, while Aveley finish 7th, thanks largely to a nine-match unbeaten run in the league and much to look forward to next season as they move into their new Parkside home.

Soham Town Rangers  4   –  3   Maldon & Tiptree              Attendance: 183

Soham produced a brilliant display at Julius Martin Lane to secure their place in the division next season, edging out Maldon & Tiptree. Hot-shot Sam Mulready put Soham ahead on 22 minutes, before Joshua Pollard levelled for the visitors two minutes later. Eleven minutes after the re-start, substitute Kieran Bailey gave Maldon the lead though they were pegged back just two minutes afterwards by Soham’s Lloyd Groves. Maldon re-took the lead thanks to hot-shot Sam Newson on 68 minutes. Though two goals late on from Mulready and Groves, both getting their braces sealed the win Robbie Mason’s side needed to survive, they finished in 19th spot. Maldon finish in 2nd spot with 91 points and entertain Haringey Borough in the play-offs in mid-week.

Thamesmead Town  1-2  Brentwood Town       Attendance: 100

Brentwood continued their excellent form with the win in what was Thamesmead’s final match at Bayliss Avenue before they start their ground-share with Dartford next season. Leon Gordon put the Blues ahead on 21 minutes. Archie Johnson levelled for the Mead nine minutes before the break. Brentwood’s ‘Player of the Year’ Lamar Reynolds polished off a fine season with the winner five minutes after the re-start to give his side their 4th straight league win. Brentwood finish in 14th place, while Thamesmead finish 17th.

VCD Athletic   2 – 0   Ware      Attendance: 125

VCD sent Ware to despair at Oakwood with this victory. Mitch Hahn gave Keith McMahon’s side the lead five minutes before the break. Just past the hour, Derek Duncan sealed the points for the home side, which ultimately sent Ware down. VCD finish 15th, whilst Ware finish 22nd, relegated despite their recent upturn in form.

Witham Town 2  – 1   Waltham Abbey           Attendance: 70

Witham picked up the win over strugglers Waltham Abbey at Spa Road. Scott Kemp put Witham ahead just past the quarter-hour mark. Jack Daveney put Abbey on terms just before the half-hour. Moments later, Luke Mallet got what would be the winner to give Town all three points. Witham finish in 13th place, while Abbey finish 20th, only surviving the drop on goal difference.

Wroxham   0 – 2   Thurrock               Attendance: 120

Thurrock picked-up the win in Wroxham’s swansong match in the division at Trafford Park. Substitute Michael Pindy put the visitors ahead just after the hour, before Jack Barham struck late on to seal the points for Mark Stimson’s side and give their 4th straight league win. Thurrock take on AFC Hornchurch at home in mid-week, thanks to their 3rd place finish. Wroxham finish 23rd and relegated, though their rebuilding job starts now ahead of the new season.

Hello & welcome to another round-up of action that took place in the Ryman League Division North today (Sat April 15th) & one result from Good Friday. After the results, check out the latest table to see where your side is, going into the last two matches of the campaign.

Good Friday (14.4) Result

Witham Town   0  –  5 Brightlingsea Regent                         Attendance: 402

Champions Brightlingsea powered to a thumping win at Spa Road. It was goalless at the break, though after it, Regent improved as Billy Hunt opened the scoring on the hour. Two goals in the next five minutes from strike pair Tom Richardson and Aaron Condon made the points safe though late goals from Condon and substitute George Doyle added to a punishing night for the home side. Witham are lost their last three consecutive league matches and remain in 13th spot. Regent are only one point shy of the big 100, after their 6th win on-the-bounce.

Saturday’s Results

AFC Hornchurch  4   –  1   Phoenix Sports          Attendance: 238

Hornchurch secured a big win at Bridge Avenue to keep up their claim to finish 3rd in the table. Ex-Billericay midfielder Abs Seymour gave the home side the lead six minutes in, before Phoenix hot-shot Theo Fairweather-Johnson levelled for the visitors on 18 minutes. Urchins forward Leon McKenzie put his side back in-front a minute later, before Kenzer Lee increased the lead six minutes before the break. Lee grabbed his second on 74 minutes to secure the points for Jimmy McFarlane’s men. Hornchurch have now won four of their last six league matches, remaining 3rd with a two-point lead over Thurrock in 4th. Phoenix’ second defeat in-a-row sees them drop to 6th, level on points with Haringey Borough in 5th spot.

Cheshunt   1  – 2     Aveley         Attendance: 169

Aveley kept their play-off chances alive with a great win at Theobalds Lane. Jordan Peart put the visitors ahead on 34 minutes. After the break, a penalty from Tom Bruno levelled things for Cheshunt before on-loan hot-shot Mason Bloomfield gave the visitors the win just before the hour mark. Cheshunt’s play-off charge is all but derailed after their winless run of five league matches now, dropping to 10th spot, five points away from the top 5 with just two matches left. Aveley by contrast have snuck back into contention, rising to 8th spot, three points off the top 5 after a now 7-match unbeaten streak in the league.

Dereham Town  1  –  3   Thurrock          Attendance: 185    

Thurrock secured a play-off berth with a fine win at Aldiss Park. Thurrock took the lead on 53’ thanks to Richard Halle, before substitute Jack Barham doubled the lead 14 minutes later. Ryan Crisp pulled one back for Dereham on 71’ before Ronnie Winn’s goal sealed the points for Mark Stimson’s men with ten minutes left. Dereham are now winless in six league matches but remain in 15th place. Thurrock’s unbeaten run stretches to five league matches as they stay 4th.

Great Wakering Rovers  1    –  3   Brentwood Town         Attendance: 114

Haringey Borough   5  –  4     Bowers & Pitsea      Attendance: 159

Haringey edged a real cracker at Coles Park. The home side went ahead on 7 minutes thanks to Scott Olu Durojaiye’s goal. Just five minutes later, hot-shot Rolston Gabriel doubled the lead. Just before the half-hour, Brad Warner grabbed one back for Rob Small’s side. Haringey went into the break 3-1 up though as Anthony MacDonald struck ten minutes before half-time. MacDonald grabbed his second on 53’ to put his side 4-1 up and perhaps they may have thought the points were safe. Not today though Lewis Manor got another for Bowers on 72 minutes. Substitute Chris Benjamin put the hosts 5-2 up with eight minutes left. Though late goals from Warner and Martyn Stokes for Bowers made it a nervy end for Tom Loizou’s side. Haringey go back into the top 5, ahead of Phoenix Sports on goal difference. Bowers stay 7th, three points behind Haringey in 5th as their winless mini-run extends to three league matches at a crucial time.

Norwich Utd  2  – 2     Heybridge Swifts            Attendance: 86

All the goals came in the first-half in this stalemate at Plantation Park. Reece Grant put Heybridge in-front on 13’ before just a minute later Tim Henery levelled for Utd. Grant put Jody Brown’s side back ahead on 19’. Just before the half-hour, a Liam Jackson penalty levelled once again for the Planters and both sides had to settle for a point. Norwich Utd rise to 9th place, four points off the last play-off spot. Heybridge drop to 21st, level on points with Ware in the drop-zone as their winless run now sits at three league matches.

Romford  2  –  6   Maldon & Tiptree            Attendance: 114

Maldon powered to victory in an enthralling match at Ship Lane. Ayodeji Olukoga gave Romford a surprise lead after five minutes. Sam Newson levelled for Maldon with 19 minutes on the clock, before Jeremiah Kamanzi put Maldon ahead eight minutes later. After the break, James Ishmail put the home side on terms, before Ryan Mallett was sent off with ten minutes left. This was a turning point as late goals from Adam Mills, an OG from Tom Potter and Newson grabbed two in injury-time to complete his hat-trick gave the Jammers the points. Romford have now lost their last three league matches, though they remain 14th. Maldon stay 2nd, unbeaten in their last four league matches.

Soham Town Rangers  1  –  1      Tilbury        Attendance: 128

Tilbury fought back to grab a point at Julius Martin Lane. Soham took the lead just past the half-hour thanks to hot-shot Sam Mulready. With 14 minutes left, a Kurt Smith penalty put the Dockers on terms. Both sides finished the match with ten men as Ashley Bankole was sent off for the hosts late on for two bookings and substitute Danny Smith saw red for Tilbury. Soham are now unbeaten in five league matches though still drop to 20th place, just a point clear of Ware in the last relegation place. Tilbury stay 12th, though they are unbeaten in three league matches now.

Thamesmead Town  0  –  1     Waltham Abbey                Attendance: 75

Waltham grabbed a vital win over fellow strugglers Thamesmead at Bayliss Avenue. Romaric Logon got the only goal, from the penalty spot just before half-time. Thamesmead are now winless in their last five league matches, though stay 17th. Abbey rise to 18th, three points clear of danger.

VCD Athletic  0  –  0    Bury Town               Attendance: 86

VCD held mid-table Bury Town at Oakwood. VCD have only lost one of their last six league matches, residing in 16th spot though still need two points to be mathematically safe from the drop. Bury have only lost two of their last seven league matches themselves, and will finish no worse than 11th at season’s end as Tilbury cannot catch them now.

Wroxham    2   –  3    Ware               Attendance: 116

Ware kept up with the pack above them with a great win over relegated Wroxham at Trafford Park.  An early salvo put Ware three up by 18 minutes, Gareth Price on 5’ and 17’ then Ahmed Mohammed a minute later put the visitors 0-3 up. After the break, Wroxham fought back with goals from Tom Rampling past the hour mark and a late goal from Ross Gilfedder ensured a very nervy finish for the Blues, but they held on. Wroxham stay 23rd, while Ware stay 22nd, though are level on points with Heybridge just above them.
