Round-up: Bostik Division North (Fri 16/Sat 17 Nov) [BLN 18.11.18]

Written by Scott W (Twitter: @ScottMHC14)

Hello and welcome to the latest of my regular round-ups of the action in Bostik Division North this weekend. How did your side do? Following that are the results from both the Bostik South Central and Bostik South East Divisions this weekend.

Friday 16th Nov

BLN

Witham Town   1 – 3  Aveley  | Spa Road  | Att: 166

Aveley started off the weekend’s action with a win at Spa Road. Tom Richardson put the visitors here ahead after only three minutes, although Johnny Ashman levelled for Town only six minutes later. The Millers found another gear after the break though as goals from Sam Cross [49’] and Reggie Hubbard [90’] saw them to a fourth straight win and leave their hosts still bottom of the standings.

Sat 17th Nov

Barking  2 – 1  Soham Town Rangers | Mayesbrook Park | Att: 73

The Blues took advantage of a good start here to record their third win in their last six outings. Joshua Davidson broke the deadlock after seven minutes before Darelle Russell made it two with 34 minutes on the watch. Soham responded late on through prolific scorer Sam Mulready though they fell to their 5th loss in their last six matches and remain second-bottom. Barking sit 12th.

Basildon Utd  0 – 1  Felixstowe & Walton Utd   | Gardiners Close | Att: 100

The new era at the Bees under joint-managers Michael Walther and Lee Connor started with a narrow defeat at home to Felixstowe. Sam Ford got the only goal after 27 minutes to the visitors to their sixth win of the season thus far and they reside in ninth place. Basildon’s winless stretch extends to six matches now and therefore drop to 5th place.

Brentwood Town  3 – 0  Bowers & Pitsea   | Brentwood Arena  | Att: 190

Town got arguably the result of their league season thus far by defeating under-par Bowers and consequently ending their unbeaten streak this term. The hosts broke the stalemate thanks to goalkeeper James Pellin’s long free-kick midway through the first half. Two former Bowers players struck the other goals with Ryan Mallett [49’] and substitute Charlee Hughes [82’] also netting to give Craig Shipman’s men their third win of the campaign. Rob Small’s side remain top on goal difference.

Bury Town  2 – 3  Coggeshall Town   | Ram Meadow  | Att: 372

Coggeshall went joint-top of the division after coming through in this thriller at Ram Meadow. Cemal Ramadan’s spot-kick after four minutes gave the hosts the lead though two quick-fire goals from Curtis Haynes-Brown [12’] and Connor Hubble [20’] turned the tide in the visitors’ favour. Ollie Hughes then struck two minutes before the break to make it even-stevens again. Ross Wall got the decisive strike nine minutes after the interval to see Cogg to their sixth win in their last seven matches. Bury remain 8th.

Canvey Island  0 – 2  AFC Sudbury   | Park Lane  | Att: 214

The Suds continued their upturn in form with this good win at out-of-form Canvey. First-half goals from Reece Harris [18’] and Thomas Monk [24’] saw the visitors to the win and have only lost one of their last seven now. Canvey have won only one of their last seven themselves and drop to 12th place.

Grays Athletic  5 – 1  Dereham Town  | Parkside (3G) | Att: 188

Another cracker of a performance saw Ath to a big win at Parkside. It started poorly for Jamie Stuart’s side as Joe Gatting put Town ahead on seven minutes. The hosts showed their spirit soon after as Tommy Wade levelled on the quarter-hour before Joao Carlos’ spot-kick put the hosts ahead just two minutes later. Wade’s second on 59 minutes plus late strikes by Mitchell Hahn [80’] and Michael Finneran four minutes afterward steered Ath to their 5th win in their last six matches, they rise to 6th while Dereham drop to 14th.

Great Wakering Rovers  3 – 2  Heybridge Swifts  | Burroughs Park | Att: 237

Rovers continued their good start to life back in Isthmian North by edging this cracker at Burroughs Park. Jake Gordon’s penalty on eight minutes put them ahead though Odei Martin restored parity for Swifts seven minutes later. Billy Johnson handed the lead back to Garry Kimble’s side on 33 minutes and after Gordon grabbed his brace four minutes into the second half, the hosts had the initiative.
Swifts are made of tough stuff though and Kreshnic Krasniqi’s strike eight minutes from time made it a nervy end, despite Heybridge being down to ten men after forward Matt Price’s dismissal. Wakering’s fifth win this term sees them rise to tenth while Swifts’ first loss under boss Julian Dicks sees them fall to seventh.

Maldon & Tiptree  0 – 0  Tilbury   | Park Drive  | Att: 137

New Dockers boss Marc Harrison began his tenure with a more than respectable draw at Maldon. Maldon are a tough side to beat though with only two defeats in seven now residing in 4th spot while third-bottom Tilbury haven’t won in seven outings now.

Mildenhall Town   2 – 1  Romford  | Recreation Way  | Att: 149

A good first 45 minutes saw Town to eventual victory over Boro at Recreation Way. Emmanuel Osei-Owuso’s eighth-minute strike put the hosts ahead before Aboudhadje Kouassi doubled that advantage ten minutes before the break. Henry Fisher did give Paul Martin’s side hope by reducing the deficit on 61 minutes though they still fell to their 5th straight loss and sit 16th. Town go level on points with their opponents here in 17th after ending their own four-match losing run.

Here’s your results from the Bostik South Central & South East divisions now:

20181118_145419-1

20181118_145427

Before I close, we heard the sad news this week that long-serving Isthmian League President and former Chairman Alan Turvey has died at the age of 85. My very best thoughts to Alan’s family and I am aware he was held in very high regard by many people in Non-League for many years.

That’s all for this week, thank you for reading.

Round-up: Bostik Lge Division North (& South Central & South East Division R’s) [BLN 8.10.18]

Written by Scott W (Twitter: @ScottMHC14)

Hello & welcome to another round of the Bostik North round-up, here on the blog. This article looks at the action in the first weekend of October. How did your side do?

Bostik Division North

Saturday 6th October

Barking  1 – 0   Dereham Town      | Mayesbrook Park  |  Att: 43

Despite a team re-shuffle, the Blues edged to a good win over Dereham at Mayesbrook Park. Ben O’Brien got the only goal of the game in the 21st minute to give Justin Gardner’s side their third win of the season to go 14th in the table. Dereham’s sixth defeat in nine sees them in 16th spot, below their opponents here on goal difference.

Basildon Utd  0 – 0  Bury Town    | Gardiners Close  | Att: 86

The Bees were held for the second match on-the-spot by a resilient Bury Town side at Gardiners Close. Manager of the Month for September Marc Harrison still has a lot to be pleased with though as his side extended their unbeaten run to nine matches and are seven points clear at the summit.

Brentwood Town   4 – 1   Soham Town Rangers  | Brentwood Arena  | Att: 90

Brentwood achieved a big win with a stand-out performance over struggling Soham at the Brentwood Arena. Albert Levett [27′] and Connor Martin [31′] strikes put the hosts in command before Sam Mulready halved the arrears for the visitors just before the interval. Town were not to be denied their second win of the season though as Kojo Apenteng [55′] and Alfie Hilton [83′] goals sealed the points to see the hosts up to 11th spot. Soham’s 4th loss in their last five means they remain bottom of the table.

Canvey Island  1 – 1   Tilbury   | Park Lane | Att: 183

Canvey were denied an important win at Park Lane by a late leveller by Joe Keith’s Dockers. Both goals came late in the game as Martin Tuohy broke the stalemate with five minutes remaining before Tilbury’s Abdus Salami ensured the visitors left with a point and are now unbeaten in three matches, sitting in 17th spot. Canvey are winless in their last three matches and reside in 6th spot.

Grays Athletic  4 – 3  Great Wakering Rovers  | Parkside  | Att: 213

Over 200 spectators saw a cracker-jack encounter at Parkside. Grays definitely had the better of the first 45 minutes as Dennis Oli [7′] and Joao Carlos [19′] put Jamie Stuart’s side two ahead before Shomari Barnwell’s penalty made it three six minutes before the break. Rovers responded after the hour mark though through strikes from Ollie Woodhouse on 62 minutes and Jake Gordon six minutes after that. Ade Cole netted to give Ath some breathing room on 71 minutes though recent signing Marcus Bowers [89′] closed out the scoring though ultimately Grays got their third win of the season and up to 8th spot in the table. Wakering drop to 12th after their fourth defeat of the season.

Maldon & Tiptree  0 – 1  Aveley   | Park Drive  | Att: 126

Aveley battled to an important win at Park Drive. Alex Akrofi was on the score-sheet again from the penalty spot on 20 minutes. The visitors held on to rack up their fifth win in 8 matches to rise above their opponents into second spot. The Jammers drop to fourth after only their second loss this term.

Mildenhall Town  3 – 4  Heybridge Swifts  | Recreation Way  |  Att: 170

Heybridge emerged from a huge battle with the points at Recreation Way. New signing Dan Walker broke the deadlock two minutes before the interval to give Julian Dicks’ new charges a lead at the break. Matthew Price [56′] extended that lead before Thomas Boxer struck home a spot-kick seven minutes later to get the hosts on the scoreboard. Walker’s second made it 1 – 3 on 68 minutes though a second Boxer penalty with 17 minutes left made it tight. Not for long though as on 77 minutes Nick Brown struck to make it 2 – 4 before a late third for the hosts from Luke Butcher made it an incredible six goals in one half. The Hall fell to their third loss of the season regardless, and drop to tenth place while Heybridge ended a four-match losing run here and rise to 15th spot.

Witham Town   0 – 2   Bowers & Pitsea   | Spa Road  | Att: 74

Bowers had recent signing Simon Thomas to thank for the goals in this win at Spa Road. Thomas struck twice in five minutes [52′ & 56′] to turn the course of this match and give Rob Small’s side their fourth win in seven matches and preserve their unbeaten stretch. Witham’s fourth straight defeat sees them remain in the bottom two while Bowers are up to third spot.

Bracknell Town  1 – 1  Bedfont Sports   | Att: 201

FC Romania  0 – 5  Chipstead   | Att: 48

Written by Scott W (Twitter: @ScottMHC14)

Hello & welcome to another round of the Bostik North round-up with results from South Central and South East divisions, here on the blog. This article looks at the Tuesday night action which resulted in one manger departing. How did your side do?

Tuesday 25th September

Barking  0 – 1  Tilbury      | Mayesbrook Park  |  Att: 68

The Dockers pipped the Blues to claim the points at Mayesbrook. Tom Anderson’s 10th-minute goal was enough to claim the win for Joe Keith’s side.

Basildon Utd  2 – 1  Heybridge Swifts    | Gardiners Close  | Att:

The bees maintained their unbeaten run with a comeback win against Swifts. Joe Gardner [12′] put the visitors ahead though Bees defender Eljay Worrell levelled from the spot with five minutes to go until half-time. Worrelll then struck the winner seven minutes from time.

Sadly for the visitors, Swifts boss Jody Brown stepped down from his role shortly after the match.

Brentwood Town  1 – 1  Coggeshall Town  | Brentwood Arena  | Att: 92

The Blues’ search for a win goes on despite denying Cogg the win at Brentwood Arena. The visitors led through Aaron Condon [70′] though Luke Foster ensured Craig Shipman’s side shared the points with a leveller on 84 minutes.

Canvey Island  0 – 1  Great Wakering Rovers   | Park Lane | Att: 178

Wakering snared the win over local rivals Canvey at Park Lane. Billy Johnson’s solitary goal [16′] did the job for Gary Kimble’s side and gave them bragging rights over the Islanders.

Felixstowe & Walton Utd  1 – 3  Soham Town Rangers  | Dellwood Ave  | Att: 294

Soham got a much sought-after victory at Dellwood Avenue. Alfie Connor put Soham ahead on eight minutes though the hosts restored parity through Jack Ainsley’s spot-kick on 26 minutes. Robbie Mason’s side restored their advantage thanks to Joe Carden’s strike on 57 minutes. Sam Mulready secured the points with five minutes left.

Mildenhall Town 3 – 0  Dereham Town  | Recreation Way  |  Att: 195

The Hall overcame Dereham for the points at Recreation Way. Thomas Debenham’s opener [36′] was quickly added to by Abouhadje Kouassi three minutes later. Emmanuel Osei completed the scoring late on as the hosts had a night to build on.

Witham Town  1 – 2  Bury Town  | Spa Road  | Att: 82

A first-half display assisted Bury to victory at Witham. Kyran Clements [21′] and Ollie Hughes [35′] put the visitors in the driving seat though a penalty from Sam Ashford with 20 minutes to play gave the hosts hope but they could not rescue a point on this occasion.

Round-up: Bostik Leagues (Sat 22/Sun 23 Sept) [BLN 23.9.18]

Written by Scott W  (Twitter: @ScottMHC14)

Hello and welcome to a one-off combined ‘one-stop shop’ for all the Bostik League action this weekend, reduced due to the FA Cup action.

First up we have our Bostik North round-up, followed by results in Bostik Premier, Bostik South Central and Bostik South East divisions. Enjoy.

Bostik Division North  –  Saturday 22nd September

Barking   1 – 2   Maldon & Tiptree  | Mayesbrook Park  | Att: 57

The Jammers did the business thanks to a goal on each half. Shane Cojocarel’s 5th-minute strike kept up his good scoring form. George Sykes made it two [58′] before substitute Jack McQueen halved the arrears for the home side though the visitors took the points here, their 4th win this term.

Canvey Island   2 – 2   Brentwood Town  | Park Lane  | Att: 213

A crazy end to this match saw it end honours-even at Park Lane. Jordan Cox put the Islanders ahead three minutes before the break. That lead didn’t last long as Tony Stoke levelled [47′] against his former club. The Blues may have thought it was their day as Albert Levett’s 90th-minute spot-kick put them ahead though Cox had the final word deep in added-time to share the spoils.

Felixstowe & Walton Utd   2 – 1  Romford  |  Dellwood Avenue | Att: 261

Felixstowe rose to claim the points at Dellwood Avenue. Miles Pwell [13′] and Jack Ainsley [32′] goals put the hosts in a good place though Taylor Tombides’ goal six minutes before half-time kept Paul Martin’s side in it though they were unable to build on that so fell to their second loss of the season.

Grays Athletic  1 – 1  Mildenhall Town  | Parkside (3G) | Att: 215

Grays were held to a draw here at Parkside. Michael Mignot popped up again to put Ath ahead on 28 minutes though new signing Panayiotis Boxer’s equaliser eight minutes from time saved a point for the Hall, who are still to register a win this term.

Soham Town Rangers  0 – 1  Aveley  |  Julius Martin Lane | Att: 123

The Millers secured a good three points at struggling Soham thanks to Andy Freeman’s solitary goal seven minutes before half-time. Soham couldn’t recover and succumbed to their fifth league loss in six. Aveley have won four of their six league matches.

Witham Town   3 – 5   Basildon Utd  |  Gardiners Close | Att: 98

This thriller saw the Bees come awa with the victory at Spa Road. George Powell put the hosts ahead on 21 minutes though Reece Placid levelled only three minutes later for Marc Harrison’s side. Sam Ashford struck from the spot [31′] to put Witham 2 – 1 up though Eljay Worrell’s own penalty made it 2 – 2 at the break. Joe Turpin gave the visitors the lead on 53 minutes though Ashford again netted fron the spot [62’2 to tie things up. Enter stage right from the bench, ex-Redbridge striker Brian Moses who grabbed a brace [73′ & 82′] to settle a pulsating contest.
