Hello and welcome to a one-off combined ‘one-stop shop’ for all the Bostik League action this weekend, reduced due to the FA Cup action.

Bostik Division North  –  Saturday 22nd September

Barking   1 – 2   Maldon & Tiptree  | Mayesbrook Park  | Att: 57

The Jammers did the business thanks to a goal on each half. Shane Cojocarel’s 5th-minute strike kept up his good scoring form. George Sykes made it two [58′] before substitute Jack McQueen halved the arrears for the home side though the visitors took the points here, their 4th win this term.

Canvey Island   2 – 2   Brentwood Town  | Park Lane  | Att: 213

A crazy end to this match saw it end honours-even at Park Lane. Jordan Cox put the Islanders ahead three minutes before the break. That lead didn’t last long as Tony Stoke levelled [47′] against his former club. The Blues may have thought it was their day as Albert Levett’s 90th-minute spot-kick put them ahead though Cox had the final word deep in added-time to share the spoils.

Felixstowe & Walton Utd   2 – 1  Romford  |  Dellwood Avenue | Att: 261

Felixstowe rose to claim the points at Dellwood Avenue. Miles Pwell [13′] and Jack Ainsley [32′] goals put the hosts in a good place though Taylor Tombides’ goal six minutes before half-time kept Paul Martin’s side in it though they were unable to build on that so fell to their second loss of the season.

Grays Athletic  1 – 1  Mildenhall Town  | Parkside (3G) | Att: 215

Grays were held to a draw here at Parkside. Michael Mignot popped up again to put Ath ahead on 28 minutes though new signing Panayiotis Boxer’s equaliser eight minutes from time saved a point for the Hall, who are still to register a win this term.

Soham Town Rangers  0 – 1  Aveley  |  Julius Martin Lane | Att: 123

The Millers secured a good three points at struggling Soham thanks to Andy Freeman’s solitary goal seven minutes before half-time. Soham couldn’t recover and succumbed to their fifth league loss in six. Aveley have won four of their six league matches.

Witham Town   3 – 5   Basildon Utd  |  Gardiners Close | Att: 98

This thriller saw the Bees come awa with the victory at Spa Road. George Powell put the hosts ahead on 21 minutes though Reece Placid levelled only three minutes later for Marc Harrison’s side. Sam Ashford struck from the spot [31′] to put Witham 2 – 1 up though Eljay Worrell’s own penalty made it 2 – 2 at the break. Joe Turpin gave the visitors the lead on 53 minutes though Ashford again netted fron the spot [62’2 to tie things up. The Urchins recovered to claim another point in their journey back in the division. Daniel Smith gave Bognor the lead eight minutes before half-time. Sean Marks [49′] levelled things and the stalemate prevailed, which preserves both clubs’ unbeaten record.

Bishops Stortford   1 – 1   Leatherhead    | Woodside Park | Att: 260

Stortford recovered from going behind to claim a point. Shaun Okojie continued his fine start to the season by putting the Tanners ahead on 43 minutes. Jake Cass restored parity late on with a goal on debut though the hosts here are still searching for a first win of the season.

Burgess Hill Town   1 – 6  Enfield Town     | Leylands Park |  Att: 423

Enfield Town smashed the Hillians at Leylands Park. The visitors were in a commanding position at half-time thanks to Liam Hope’s opener on the quarter-hour plus goals from Matt Johnson [28′] and Sam Youngs [34′]. The rout continued after the break as Johnson got his second on 50 minutes. Pat Harding pulled one back for the demoralised hosts with 15 minutes left Youngs [85′] matched Johnson’s efforts before Ryan Blackman added a late sixth to secure Enfield’s third win of the season. Burgess Hill have only a point from four games.

Folkestone Invicta  3 – 2   Harlow Town   | Cheriton Road | Att: 374

This encounter had twists & turns in abundance. Invicta led on 22 minutes through Ade Yusuff though Harlow levelled 12 minutes later through Jason Raad. After the re-start, Invicta re-took the lead through Kieron McCann [54′] and extended it thanks to Jerald Aboagye’s strike [63′]. Yusuff was dismissed for dissent and Harlow made it a nervy end through Emile Acquah’s goal [90′]. Folkestone held on for their third win of the season, Harlow are still winless thus far this term.

Margate   0 – 2   Tonbridge Angels  | Hartsdown Park | Att: 648

The Gate fell to their second defeat this term.

Merstham   1 – 0   Brightlingsea Regent  | Moatside | Att: 106

Saturday 18th August

Bognor Regis Town   3 – 0   Bishop’s Stortford  | Nyewood Lane  |  Att: 482

A display of late firepower heralded another win for Bognor at Nyewood Lane. Brad Lethbridge’s goal [72′] saw the hosts on their way before a brace from Dan Smith [76′ & pen 82′] completed the day’s work to maintain Town’s unbeaten start to the season. By contrast, Stortford are looking for their first triumph this term.

Brightlingsea Regent  0 – 3   Margate    | North Road | Att: 206

Margate’s first-half display was enough to give them all three points at North Road. Joe Taylor broke the stalemate after 14 minutes. Frannie Collin weighed in heavily with a brace before the half was out, first from the spot on 31 minutes and then ten minutes afterward to give Mike Sandmann’s side the win.

Carshalton Athletic   1 – 1    Kingstonian   | War Memorial Sports Ground |  Att: 419

Corinthian-Casuals  1 – 1  Merstham   | King George’s Field | Att: 201

Something had to give in this match as both sides had been beaten in their first two league matches. The Moatsiders led on 18 minutes through Reece Hall’s strike though Casuals responded from the penalty spot two minutes shy of the hour mark through substitute Dannny Cunningham. Both sides took their first point of the season as it ended honours-even.

Lewes came away with the points in this battle at Dorking’s new Meadowbank ground. Luke Blewden put the promoted side ahead six minutes before the break. Omarr Lawson doubled the Rooks’ lead on 78 minutes to almost see his side home. Jason Prior bagged another goal two minutes later though the visitors claimed their first victory of the new season here.

Enfield Town  2 – 2  AFC Hornchurch   | Queen Elizabeth II Stadium |  Att: 443

The Urchins produced a stirring comeback to deny Enfield Town the win. Things were looking sweet for Town as Taofiq Olomowewe [18′] and Liam Hope [53′] goals put them in a good position. Though the ‘Never say die’ attitude of Jimmy MacFarlane’s men was on display again as Brad Warner pulled one back with a expert free-kick 11 minutes from time. Sean Marks completed the turnaround on the cusp of full-time as both sides also remain unbeaten.

Harlow Town   0 – 2      Worthing             |  The Harlow Arena  | Att: 220

The visitors withstood the challenge from ten-man Harlow to obtain the win at the Harlow Arena. Goals from Ricky Aguiar [25′] and David Ajiboye [90’+2] did the job to maintain the Woodside outfit’s 100% winning start to the season. Paul Rodgers was the man dismissed for the hosts.

Leatherhead  2 – 1  Haringey Borough   | Fetchams Grove  | Att: 335

The Tanners overcame Borough at Fetchams Grove to attain their first win of the season. Strikes from Shaun Okojie [18′] and Travis Gregory [31′] saw player-manager Nikki Bull’s team lead by two at the interval. Haringey halved that deficit two minutes into the second period through hot-shot Joel Nouble though Leatherhead held firm to get the points, Haringey are seeking their first win of the new season.

Potters Bar Town  1 – 1  Whitehawk    | Pakex Stadium  | Att: 174

The Scholars continued their promising start to the new campaign as they held Whitehawk here. Steve Brown put Potters Bar ahead on 34 minutes though that lead only lasted five minutes before Harry Shooman restored parity for the visitors. The hosts have taken seven points from their opening 3 matches while the Hawks have taken five from their three games.

Tonbridge Angels   1 – 0    Burgess Hill Town     | Longmead   | Att: 409

Tonbridge recorded a narrow win over over the Hillians at Longmead. Joe Turner grabbed the only goal on 26 minutes as Steve Mckimm’s team remain unbeaten. Burgess Hill will need to get that first win on the board soon.

Wingate & Finchley   0 – 3    Folkestone Invicta      | Summers Lane   | Att: 95

Invicta showed their capabilities with a good win at the newly-revamped Summers Lane. Johan ter Horst opened the scoring on ten minutes before second-half strikes from Adam Yusuff [50′] & Jack Evans [57′] completed the win and leave Wingate without a win in their opening three games.

Midweek Round-Up: Bostik Premier Division (Tues 14.8.18) [BLP 14.8.18]

Written by Scott W (Twitter: @ScottMHC14)

Hello and welcome to my midweek results round-up of the action in the Bostik Premier Division. How did your team do? Thanks for reading.

Monday 13th August

Carshalton Athletic   1 – 2  Worthing   | War Memorial Sports Ground | Att: 341

Worthing came from behind to collect their second win inside three days at the War Memorial Sports Ground. The hosts led through Ricky Korboa’s strike on 21 minutes and it stayed that way at half-time. However, after Kealy’s brace on Saturday, The Woodside Park side had David Ajiboye to thank as his rapid brace [70′ & 71′] changed the course of the game.

Tuesday 14th August

Bognor Regis Town  3 – 1   Merstham   | Nyewood Lane  |  Att: 502

Bognor recovered from an early setback to record their first win of the season. The Moatsiders led on 12 minutes through Gus Sow though that lead was soon erased as the hosts levelled through Bradley Lethbridge’s strike two minutes later. Further goals by Chad Field [30′] & Dan Smith [36′] roared Bognor to victory.

Brightlingsea Regent  0 – 2    Haringey Borough   | North Road  | Att: 156

Haringey struck either side of half-time to maintain their early unbeaten start to the season. Just as it looked as though it was going be goal-less at the interval, Joel Nouble’s penalty four minutes before the break put Borough ahead. Chinedu McKenzie’s 62nd-minute goal ended up being the difference and hand Regent their first defeat of the new season.

Corinthian-Casuals    1 – 3     Folkestone Invicta   |  King George’s Field  | Att: 226

Invicta struck early to help them to victory at King George’s Field. Kieron McCann struck in the first minute of the match before Johan ter Horst doubled the lead for the visitors on 13 minutes. Casuals halved their arrears on the quarter-hour thanks to Hamilton Antonio’s goal. McCann struck again for the visitors on 73 minutes for his brace and his 3rd goal of the burgeoning season to see Folkestone to victory.

Enfield Town   2 – 1    Bishop’s Stortford  | Queen Elizabeth II Stadium  | Att: 459

Two first-half goals saw Enfield obtain their second straight win. Sam Chaney [12′] and Sam Youngs [26′] were the goal-scorers for Town before Lewis Dark got one back for Stortford nine minutes from time though Stortford still fell to defeat here.

Harlow Town   1 – 1   Burgess Hill Town  |  The Harlow Arena  | Att: 180

Harlow claimed a point thanks to a player they only signed earlier in the day. The Hillians took the lead on 24 minutes through Connor Tighe. Though JJ Da Cruz levelled for his new side with 20 minutes remaining and it ended that way as both sides collected their first point of the season.

Potters Bar Town   3 – 0    Kingstonian  | The Pakex Stadium  | Att: 204

The Scholars are ‘riding the crest of a wave’ at present as they kept up their 100% record this season. Goals from Keegan Cole [26′], Eoin Casey [32′] and George Nicholas [78′] sealed Potters Bar’s win, they still haven’t conceded a goal yet this term. Meanwhile, The K’s are yet to win this term.

Tonbridge Angels   0 – 0    Lewes   | Longmead  | Att: 552

These two sides battled to a stalemate in front of over 550 fans at Longmead. Lewes picked up their first point this season while Tonbridge are unbeaten with a win & a draw.

Wingate & Finchley    1 – 1   AFC Hornchurch    | Summers Lane  | Att: 142

Finally on Tuesday, the Urchins battled to a draw at Summers Lane. George Purcell put Hornchurch ahead after six minutes. Jimmy MacFarlane’s side led at the interval though Marc Charles-Smith levelled eight minutes after the re-start. The Urchins won’t be disappointed too much I’d think as they have four points from two matches.

Folkestone Invicta  2 – 3  Enfield Town | Att: 449

Enfield came from behind to grab all three points. Kieron McCann gave Invicta the lead just seven minutes into the match before a Nat Blanks OG levelled things five minutes later. Ade Yussuf restored the hosts’ lead on 35 minutes before substitute Brandon Adam’s quick-fire brace [78′ & 79′] turned the course of this match to give Andy Leese’s side the win.

Kingstonian  2 – 3  Brightlingsea Regent | Venue:  King’s George’s Field  | Att: 255

Regent started their season well with an excellent away win. Harvey Hodd’s brace [14′ & 24′] either side of Louie Theophanous’ strike [16′] gave the Essex side the advantage. Nine minutes into the second half, Billy Hunt made it 1 – 3 before substitute Muhammadu Faal’s late penalty halved the arrears.

Lewes 0 – 1  Carshalton Athletic | Venue: Dripping Pan  | Att: 613

Carshalton defeated Lewes at the Dripping Pan in a battle of two newly-promoted sides. The only goal came just shy of the hour thanks to Ola Sogbanmu’s effort.

The ‘Gate smashed past Casuals to start their season with a win. Baselle Aristride [11′] and Tom Wynter [19′] put the hosts ahead before a goal-laden first-half was completed by Alex Brown’s long-range brace [38′ & 43′] and Frannie Collin’s goal on the stroke of half-time.

Harlow’s season didn’t start well as they went down to newcomers Whitehawk. The hosts grabbed a fourth through Marsh-Brown six minutes before the break, after Andre McCollin [42′] had pulled one back for the visitors. A second-half OG did little to improve Town’s chances of grabbing a point as the hosts won out.

Bostik Premier Division Round-up (20.1.18)

Written by Scott W (Twitter: @ScottMHC14)

Hello & welcome to ‘bonus’ round-up of this weekend’s Isthmian Premier Division action here on my blog. Ahead of this weekend’s weather-affected programme, there was approximately three months of the season remaining before the end-of-season play-offs take over proceedings.

Here is the aforementioned round-up of the results this weekend:

Saturday 20th January

Billericay Town P – P Harrow Borough

| Venue: New Lodge

Despite the hard work of the club groundsman, the match referee deemed the surface unplayable due to a waterlogged pitch.

Burgess Hill Town P – P  Enfield Town

This match was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Dorking Wanderers  2 – 2  Harlow Town

| Venue: Westhumble Community Stadium   | Attendance: 212

Mid-table Dorking were held at home by struggling Harlow at Westhumble. James McShane put the hosts in the first minute before Lewis Putman doubled the lead 11 minutes later. Harlow, who sold Junior Dadson to Cray Wanderers this week, got back into the match just before the break as Jared Small struck to halve their arrears. Toby Ajala completed the comeback for Town with the leveller 13 minutes from time. Wanderers’ unbeaten run extends to five matches now and sit 16th while Harlow’s mixed form continues, with five defeats in their last nine league matches as they remain 20th.

Dulwich Hamlet 1- 2 Merstham

| Venue: Champion Hill   | Attendance: 1,692

Dulwich were the victim of a spirited late comeback at Champion Hill, in front of nearly 1,700 fans. Hamlet led on the quarter-hour as Ashley Carew had put them ahead, though after the break a brace from Charlie Penny [77′ & 81′] turned the tide of the match and in doing so, handed Merstham their first win in seven league outings. League leaders Dulwich’s second defeat on-the-trot sees them concede ground to chasers Billericay who now have seven matches in hand on Gavin Rose’s side. Merstham rise to 17th spot after a super afternoon for them.

Folkestone Invicta P – P Lowestoft Town

| Venue: Fullicks Stadium

This match was postponed, presumably due to a waterlogged pitch.

Kingstonian 0 – 1 Brightlingsea Regent

| Venue: Fetcham Grove   | Attendance: 221

An early goal from Robert Harvey [7′] was enough to give Brightlingsea all three points at Fetcham Grove. The K’s have now only won two of their last nine league encountersand they fall to 18th spot. Regent are now unbeaten in four matches and rise to 12th spot in the table.

Leiston P – P Tonbridge Angels

| Venue: Victory Road

This match was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Margate 3- 2 Tooting & Mitcham Utd

| Venue: Hartsdown Park | Attendance: 542

Play-off chasing Margate held off Tooting in a challenging encounter to record the win at Hartsdown Park. The visitors took a surprise lead through Peter Wedgeworth’s second-minute strike before hot-shot Jordan Chiedozie restored parity for the ‘Gate from the penalty spot 12 minutes later. Chiedozie struck again just four minutes later to wrestle the initative back for Steve Watt’s side. Three minutes after the break, Sam Blackman made it 3-1 before Chace O’Neill’s goal [65′] ensured a tight finish. Even so, Margate recorded the win and their unbeaten stretch extends to five matches now as they rise to 6th spot. Tooting’s struggles go on as they lost for the fourth match in-a-row, remaining second-bottom, just four points clear of bottom side Burgess Hill having played four games more.

Needham Market 3 – 3 Hendon

| Venue: Bloomfields    | Attendance: 239

The Marketmen struck late to clinch a point in this topsy-turvy encounter at Bloomfields. The hosts led twelve minutes in through Jeremiah Kamanzi’s opener though on 33 minutes, play-off chasing Hendon levelled courtesy of Josh Walker’s strike. After the break, a quick-fire brace from Ashley Nathaniel-George [50′ & 53′] put Hendon in command though out-of-form Needham grabbed a point after Adam Mills struck with a brace of his own [60′ & 88′]. Needham’s winless run goes on though, now sitting at six matches as they remain 21st, six points clear of the solitary relegation place. Hendon’s good run continues with five wins & two losses in their last nine matches, they sit 5th, in the play-offs by virtue of superior goal difference.

Staines Town P – P Worthing | Venue: Wheatsheaf Park

This match was postponed due to an unplayable pitch.

Thurrock 2- 0 Leatherhead

Venue: Ship Lane | Attendance: 162

Mark Stimson’s side emerged from this battle at Ship Lane with another important three points in the bag. First-half goals from Remi Sutton [37′] and Michael Pindy secured the win, their fourth in their last nine matches now, as they rise to 13th spot. Leatherhead’s eight-match unbeaten league run ended here though player-boss Sammy Moore’s side are still well-placed in 10th spot, just three points outside the play-off places.

Wingate & Finchley 1 – 0 Metropolitan Police

Venue: Summers Lane | Attendance: 90

Wingate edged to victory in this match between two play-off chasing sides at Summers Lane. After a match that didn’t quite fizz into life in the first half, five minutes after the break Wingate striker Afolabi Obafemi broke the deadlock to eventually seal the points over Jim Cooper’s determined Met side. The hosts’ have now won six of their last nine league outings as they go up to 9th place while Met Police are still on a decent run themselves with only three losses in their last nine matches after today. They reside in 8th place, a point ahead of their opponents here and just two points off the play-offs.
