Round-up: Essex Olympian League (Sat 20th Oct) [EOFL 22.10.18]

Hello and welcome to another of my round-ups of the action in the Essex Olympian League this weekend, from the Premier Division, all the way down to Division Three, with thanks to Scott Lanza for the data used in this piece. Thanks for reading.

 

 EOFL Premier Division

We start off with the Premier Division and Bishop’s Stortford Swifts ended Buckhurst Hill’s long unbeaten stretch with a 1 – 0 home win over Hill thanks to Joel Brown’s solitary strike. Canning Town extended the ‘sinking feeling’ somewhat for Catholic Utd as Town won 3 – 2 in Beckton. Sean Mooney’s brace and one from Luke Nickles sealed the London outfit’s third win of the season.

Harold Wood Athletic won 3 – 1 at home to strugglers Manford Way with King Amieye, Michael Burton and Robert Whitnell all getting on the score-sheet for Ath in what was their sixth win of the campaign. Manford have lost all eight matches thus far and are one of only two sides that are winless this term, the other being Catholic Utd.

Springfield got the win of the day with a big 7 – 2 win at Leigh Ramblers. Jamie Selby-Knight got both Leigh goals though the Chelmsford-based side responded with a goal-glut. Dave Wareham got a double, with Dave Morgan, Ollie Gentry, Ross Lamb, Zach Davidson and Jack Mundy all also netting in their second win of the season.

Elsewhere, Great Baddow were held 2 – 2 at home by Sungate. Dane Nelson and Ryan Baxter struck for Baddow while Jake Clarke’s double ensured a point for the visitors. …..   Old Southendian also won 3 – 0 at home to Hutton to obtain their second win in their last three matches.

 

Senior League Cup Results

FC Hamlets 3 – 0 Galleywood 

Leigh Town 1 – 0 Westhamians

Newham Utd 3 – 6 Chingford Athletic (AET)

 

EOFL Senior Division One

Three matches in Senior One saw 20 goals scored. Basildon Town got a healthy chunk of them in a 6 – 2 win at Frenford Reserves. Alfie Phillips’ hat-trick and strikes from James Humphreys, Sener Suavi and substitute Billy Markham did the job as Town won their fourth match in five this term.

Elsewhere, a treble from Ryan Leddra assisted Ramsden Scotia to a 4 – 3 home win over Shenfield AFC. Antony Driscoll got the other goal for the hosts while Ben Absolon, James Bigmore and Jordan Elliott netted for AFC. Scotia have now won five of their six outings thus far. Snaresbrook retained the leadership with a hard-fought 3- 2 win over Ongar Town. Ryan Barker-Francis, Anton Ostrii and Tyriquee Solomon goals saw ‘Brook to their 5th straight win of the season while Ben Polley and James Stevens responded for Town, who are still having a decent campaign.

 

EOFL Senior Division Two

Senior Two saw an incredible 33 goals fly in from only four matches played. Runwell Sports got their biggest win for many a week with an absolute demolition of bottom side May & Baker ‘A’ – the match finished an astonishing 15 – 0. Four goals from Jae Lovell, a hat-trick from Declan Clarke plus braces from Charlie Adams and Aaron Rix, not forgetting one each for Corey Wallace, Scott Mortlock, debutant Charlie Gerada and substitute John Smithwick made it a day to remember for the hosts.

 

Elsewhere, Lakeside put seven past Rochford Town in a 7 – 1 home victory. Braces from top-scorer Drew Klessa-Smith and Connor White was added to by Luke Quinton, Harry Hearn and Jamie Jarvis to seal their third win of the season. Grant Lye got Town’s consolation.

Meanwhile, also in Senior Two, Shoebury Town now have a six-point lead at the summit following a 4 – 1 victory over Ryan. Dominic Binns got all four goals as Town continued their 100% home record and have now scored 38 goals in six matches. Beacon Hill Rovers edged to a much-welcomed 3 – 2 home triumph over Toby thanks to Charlie Brewer, Dave Howard and Matt Wilsher all notching. Justin Clarke and Ross Dipple replied for Toby though their fell to defeat for the first time in the league season.

 

EOFL Senior Division Three

With leaders Westhamians in Senior Cup action, all three of the chasing pack did their bit to close the gap. First, Academy Soccer won 4 – 1 at Old Chelmsfordians Res thanks to Dom Cooper’s brace plus added goals from Sam Parish and Luis Ruiz. Laindon Orient ‘stepped it up’ in the latter stages to win 4 – 1 at Wakering Sports with Sam Lake getting two with Rodney Sarsah-Wilson and James Shadwell also netting. Terry Horner got Sports’ strike though Orient are third spot, a point behind Academy in second.

White Ensign Ressies are fourth after a 3 – 2 win over Roydon at the Len Forge Centre. Adam Smith, Harrison Somerset-Butler and Lubona Wyatt goals did the business and overcame Nader Benzid’s double for the visitors.

Finally, in EOFL Division Four, Corinthians went two points clear at the top with a 3 – 1 win at Dagenham Utd.

Round-up: Essex Olympian League (and Essex Alliance Lge Rs – Sat 8th Sept) [EOFL & EAL 9.9.18)

Hello and welcome to my round-up of this weekend’s Essex Olympian League action in the top four tiers plus results from the Senior League Cup action and the second weekend of the Essex Alliance League action as well. Thanks for reading.

 

EOFL Premier Division

In a full programme of Essex Olympian League Premier action, Kelvedon Hatch arguably got the stand-out result with a 5 – 1 win at Hutton. Steve Barlex, Dan Gillard, Anthony Aylett, Andy Edmunds and an OG secured an excellent day at the office for the visitors.

Elsewhere, another brace from Steve Townsend assisted Buckhurst Hill to another victory, this time at home to Springfield. Steve Sollosi got the other goal as Hill got their fourth straight win. Harold Wood Athletic won 3 – 1 at Old Southendian with Charlie Liddiard, Ade Onileyan and Robert Whitnell all finding the net.

Meanwhile, Great Baddow got their first win of the league season, winning 3 – 2 over Leigh Ramblers. Nav Arain’s double plus a strike from Ben Cross sealed the points, with Harry Hansom and Andrew Webster scoring for Ramblers who saw their 100% start to the season end here.

Sungate also won 3 – 2, at home to local rivals to Manford Way. Jack Clarke’s brace and a Bobbie Port goal saw the the hosts win their second win in three games. Manford have lost all four matches thus far this term.

Finally in the top tier, Bishop’s Stortford Swifts were held 1 – 1 by Catholic Utd. Mark Nougher scored for Swifts, while Mike Sammut levelled for the Super Hoops. Rayleigh Town battled to a goal-less draw at Canning Town.

 

EOFL Division One

In Senior Division One, four matches took place which saw all four home sides emerging with victories. Basildon Town won 3 – 0 against Herongate Athletic with a double from Sener Suari and a Alex Witham strike seeing Town to their second straight league win. Rayleigh Town Reserves defeated May & Baker Reserves 4 – 1 thanks to two goals from Max Jones plus one goal each from Matt Seago and Jimmy Nottage.

Elsewhere, Ramsden Scotia won 3 – 0 against FC Hamlets while Snaresbrook beat Shenfield AFC 1 – 0, with the solitary goal coming from Tyrique Solomon.

 

Senior Division Two

Next, in Senior Division Two, three matches saw 13 goals scored. Seven of those came as Upminster handed May & a Baker ‘A’ a heavy 7 – 0 home loss while Newham Utd beat Ryan 3 – 0 thanks largely to Lamar Obinkwo’s double plus one from Richard Boah.

Finally, Harold Wood Athletic Reserves won 2 – 1 against Beacon Hill Rovers with Mike Burton and Tom Lamb the scorers for Ath.

 

Division Three

In EOFL Division Three, three matches also saw 13 goals in them. Westhamians got an impressive 6 – 0 away-day win at Wakering Sports with Ben Jones claiming a hat-trick plus goals from Dave Gornall, Lewis Lawrence and Ben O’Brien adding to the gloss on the score-sheet.

Hutton Reserves edged Basildon Town Reserves 1 – 0 thanks to Carl Dutton’s strike and Old Southend Reserves were held 3 – 3 by Leigh Town.

Round-up: Essex Olympian League (Sat 25.8.18) [EOFL 27.8.18]

Hello and welcome to the return of the Essex Olympian League round-up’s for the 2018-19 season. This season we will (as much as possible) go through the Results and more from the Premier Division, all the way to Senior Division Three.

We start with the first weekend of action in all four divisions – Saturday 25th August.

EOFL Premier Division

Bishop’s Stortford Swifts H – W  Great Baddow (Home walkover – Baddow couldn’t raise an XI)

In the ation that did go ahead, newcomers Buckhurst Hill continued their excellent start to the campaign with a 3 – 1 win over Catholic Utd. Richard Akinlade’s brace and Steve Townsend’s goal sealed Hill’s second straight win. Utd start with a defeat though Thomas Kearney got their goal.

Elsewhere, Canning Town defeated Old Southendian 4 – 1 thanks chiefly to a Reece Morgan hat-trick and a Beko Dushku strike. Town recorded their first success of the new term while the Southend side succumbed to their second straight loss. Leigh Ramblers recorded an impressive 2 – 0 win at Harold Wood Athletic as Harry Goodwin and Jamie Selby-Knight strikes extended Ramblers’ 100% winning start.

In the other matches in the division, Rayleigh Town held Springfield 1 – 1 while Sungate won 3 – 2 at Kelvedon Hatch and a Brad Freeman brace assisted Hutton to a 4 – 1 victory over Manford Way.

EOFL Senior Division One

In the three matches in this division that took place on its opening day, Ongar Town won 2 – 1 at FC Hamlets through goals from Ben Stone and Ben Polley. Charlie Heatly halved the arrears for the hosts though they fell to defeat.

Meanwhile, 2016/17 Senior One Champions Basildon Town recorded a very good 4 – 1 win at home to Frenford Reserves on their return to the division following their relegation from the Premier tier last term. Alfie Phillips, Jimmy Markham, Sener Suari and Jamie Miller all netted for Town. Finally, in a battle of two newly-promoted sides, Rayleigh Town Reserves dispatched Herongate Athletic 3 – 1 thanks to a double from Charlie Legg and Oliver Ventura’s additional goal.

EOFL Senior Division Two

Lakeside began the season under their new name with a comfortable 3 – 0 win over Ryan. Drew Klessa-Smith’s treble did the damage to give the hosts all three points. Meanwhile at the Rochford Recreation Ground, Rochford Town began another Senior Two campaign with a 2 – 2 draw with Newham Utd. Dave Watson struck twice for Town while Lamar Obinkwo’s double ensured a point for Newham.

Meanwhile, relegated Runwell Sports were held 3 – 3 by Upminster and in another duel of the newly-elevated sides, Chingford Athletic and Harold Wood Athletic Reserves battled to a goal-less draw.

EOFL Senior Division Three

Finally for this opening article, Division Three provided 13 goals in three matches. Leigh Town grabbed arguably the stand-out victory of the day with a 4 – 1 triumph over newcomers Wakering Sports. George Darby’s brace, Zac Mashford and Ashley Sexton set the visitors on their way to victory. Paul Wines got a consolation for Sports.

Newcomers Laindon Orient succumbed to a 2 – 3 loss to Roydon. Lewis Watson, Jordan Handscomb and Charlie Ryder goals saw the visitors to victory while goals from Rodney Sarah-Wilson and Ash Blackburn at least ensured Neil Blackburn’s side were competitive.

Elsewhere, White Ensign Reserves beat Old Chelmsfordians Reserves 2 – 1 thanks to Perry Osborne and Harry Somerset-Butler strikes. Martin Mixture netted for OC’s second team though they fell to defeat.

Essex Olympian League round-up (EOFL 26.2.18)

Hello and welcome to an extended round-up of the action in the Essex Olympian League this weekend, stretching from the Premier Division to Senior Division Two plus results from Divisions Three & Four and action in the Anagram Records Trophy & Senior League Cup.

 

Anagram Records Trophy – Quarter-Final

Catholic Utd  2  – 0   Sporting Hackney

The Super Hoops progressed to the last four of the competition as they saw off Middlesex County Premier side Sporting Hackney at Wellstead Gardens. Goals from Max Kent and Mike Trenkel were enough to seal the win and they will face Wormley Rovers at home in the Semi-Finals on Saturday 24th March.

 

Senior League Cup –  Quarter-Finals

 

Frenford  4 – 3  White Ensign

Frenford battled past fellow Olympian Premier side White Ensign to progress to the semi-finals. The visitors led 2-0 before a penalty from Bradley Nobbs five minutes before half-time and a Danny Lock [51′] free-kick levelled things up for Frenford. Daniel Driscoll made it 3-2 before Ensign levelled and late on, substitute Georgie Fairhead got the winner to secure the Premier Division leaders’ progression.

 

Springfield   2 – 4    Newham Utd

Newham caused an major upset at Arun Close and sent Premier Division Springfield out of the competition. Goals from Omar Jomanday, Ousman Ndure, Michael Omari and Nick Read did the business for the EOFL Div Two outfit. Springfield replied thanks to goals from Jamie Doyle and Jack Mundy.

 

Olympian League  –  Premier  Division

 

Basildon Town  3 – 1    Bishop’s Stortford Swifts

Basildon picked up only their second win of the season here. Strikes from Yaw Danso, Dominic Locke and Sam Marsh sealed the win and kept alive their slim hopes of avoiding the drop this season. Stortford are in 8th spot.

 

Harold Wood Athletic  P – P   Manford Way  (Due to a waterlogged pitch)

 

Leigh Ramblers  1 – 4   Kelvedon Hatch

Keveldon powered to a big win over Ramblers at Belfairs Park. Anthony Aylett, James Burt, Lee Newton and George Saunders goals sealed the points which leaves Hatch in 4th spot and Ramblers in 10th.

 

Rayleigh Town   3 – 2  May & Baker E.C

May & Baker’s topsy-turvy form continued as Rayleigh grabbed a last-gasp win over the former leaders. Town led through Aaron Pallett and Harry Talbot goals before an Oxby penalty and a Henry Osei strike brought them back level. Peter Beaumont’s 90th minute goal sealed all three points for second-bottom Rayleigh and therefore May & Baker missed the chance to leapfrog Frenford at the summit.

 

EOFL – Senior Division One

 

Galleywood  1 – 0   Great Baddow

Galleywood ended Baddow’s long unbeaten run to go three points clear of bottom side Runwell Sports. Craig Skipper got the only goal of the game to leave Baddow top but vulnerable as Buckhurst Hill are two points behind though have four matches in hand.

Hutton   6 – 1   Old Southendian

Hutton moved ahead of their opponents here into 3rd after a crushing win. A double from Matt Price plus further strikes from Dan Carpenter, Keelan O’Donovan, Thomas Price and Chris Rowlatt ensure the win.

Runwell Sports  0 – 1    Sungate

Sungate edged to victory here despite ending the match a man light. Jake Clarke got the only goal for the mid-table side. Stephen Harding was the man dismissed though the visitors held on to stay 5th on goal difference, with matches in hand. Runwell remain bottom with only five matches to play.

Shenfield AFC   4 – 0   Old Chelmsfordians

Shenfield stay 6th after goals from Francis Wright (2), Will Marlowe and Luke Williamson ensured the win over Old Chelmsfordians, who stay 10th.

Benfleet  2 – 1  Ongar Town

Benfleet overcame Ongar Town at Park Lane thanjs to goals from Ben Foord and Sonny Hartman to go three points behind their opponents here, in 5th and 4th respectively.
