S22-23 Round-ups: Essex Olympian Lge (Sat 15 Oct) [EOFL 22-23 18.10.22]

Hello & welcome to the round-up from the action in the Essex Olympian League. This week on Saturday 15 October, we look at the action in all divisions, plus an extra section on the Cup competitions this weekend. There was no Action in Divisions Three & Five this week.

EOFL Premier Division

Firstly in the top-tier, Hutton are four points clear at the summit after a 2 – 0 victory at Canning Town. Sean O’Callaghan got both goals for Matt Singh’s side. Catholic Utd are third after a 2 – 0 success over Springfield at Len Forge Centre. Aaron Baldwin and Franklin Craik both scored for Simon Thomas’ team. Springfield have subsequently announced that Allan Fenn will be their new manager, I’d like to wish him well in his new role.

Meanwhile, Toby went into mid-table with a 2 – 1 triumph over Galleywood at the Nursery Sports Ground. Dean Maguchu and Luis Ruiz goals were enough for the win. Zane Liles got the goal back for ‘Wood there. Sungate also got an important three points with a 2 – 1 win at home to Kelvedon Hatch. Substitute Dawood Ghafar scored for Hatch but goals for Solomon Asomah & stalwart Petrit Elbi ensured the points stayed in East London. There was also an important victory for Bishop’s Stortford Swifts as they defeated Old Southendian 2 – 1 at Silver Leys. Mitchell Burr got both goals to outdo Mitchell Ali’s reply for OS.

And lastly, Shenfield AFC continued their decent start to the season with a 1 – 0 victory at Runwell Sports. Marc Holland got the only goal for Kevin Williamson & Luke Williamson’s side, in the match that I attended this weekend. EOFL Divisions One & Two

In Division One, Herongate Athletic got a good 3 – 0 victory at Epping Town, with Benjamin Clarke, Frankie Aston and substitute Harvey Yellop all on target for Kurt Smith’s team. Old Chelmsfordians won 2 – 0 at Wakering Sports at Cupid’s and finally, Harold Wood Athletic continued their great season’s start with a 4 – 3 home win over Beacon Hill Rovers. Billy Gray’s penalty plus strikes by Max Shepherd, Jacob Roberts and Connor Sheehan ensured the points. Ben Prentice, Harry Hearn & Ben Jackman all netted for Rovers in that game.

In Division Two this week, Shoebury Town got a big 6 – 0 win over May & Baker at Cupid’s. Kian Bradshaw again led the line well with a treble, with substitute Luke Antoine adding two goals and there was a goal for Callum Merenda also. Hashtag Utd Development also got a good win, 2 – 0 at Old Southendian Res with Tommy Green & Matthew Gauci the goal-scorers at Garon Park 3G. Elsewhere, Rayleigh Town Res edged to a 3 – 2 success at home to Wakebury. Jack Long & replacements Calvin Armstrong and Harry Herbert were all on the score-sheet for Dave Barker’s side. Finlay Dorrell got both goals for the Berries here.

Finally, Wakering Sports Res grabbed an impressive 7 – 1 victory at AS Rawreth. Steven Valente & Connor Fardyga got braces apiece for the visitors, with Sam Shenstone, Ciaran Sweeney & Eben Rowledge also on target. Billy Brown got the goal for Rawreth.


EOFL Division Four

Moving into Division Four now, Roydon got the win in the only league match this weekend. They won 4 – 1 at Pitsea Athletic Res, Mike Hayes scored twice for the victors, with Nader Benzid and substitute Ryan Knowles also netting. Replacement Rinor Zeqiri did get a goal back for the Ath second-side.


EOFL Senior League Cup

There were two matches in the SLC. Firstly, Corinthians put in a very strong showing with a 8 – 0 victory at Buckhurst Hill U23. Bailey Moss & Max Jones both scored trebles for Chris Stoneham’s team. Connor Summerhill and Jordan Stoneham were also on target at Roding Lane as the Division One side went through. In the other game, Manford Way defeated Basildon Town Res 5 – 1 at the London Marathon Sports Ground. Samuel Oramadike, James Dobson, Dawid Potoczek plus substitutes Harry Davison & Harvey Brown were all on the scorers’ sheet. Jack Main got a consolation strike for the visitors.


Essex Reserve League Cup

In the EOFL Ressie Cup, Collier Row Res continued their good season with a thumping 9 – 2 victory over Epping Town Res at Forest Row. Raheem Bravo & Ryan Costello both netted hat-tricks, while Jordan Lee got a double and Harry Potts also notched. Catholic Utd Res also progressed with a 5 – 0 home win over Manford Way Res. Finlay Grant, Dabniel Williams, Matt Creevy & Ryan Morgan were all on target for the hosts.
