Hello and welcome to this week’s round-up of Essex Olympian League action, including a the results from the Essex Premier Cup action alongside the top four EOFL divisions and results from Senior Four & Five. Thanks for reading.
Saturday 23 November
Premier Division
In the only Premier Division match this weekend because of the swathe of Essex Premier Cup action, Catholic Utd got a late winner to defeat Bishop’s Stortford Swifts 1 – 0 at Silver Leys. New recruit Jay Nash got the goal as the ‘Super Hoops’ left up to fifth in the standings. Swifts fall to ninth.
Senior Division One
In a reduced schedule of Senior One matches, Old Chelmsfordians won 3 – 0 at strugglers Ramsden Scotia to record their fourth straight win and rise to 2nd in the table. Matthew Crick, Ryan Robinson & substitute Dane Nelson with the Chelmsford side. Elsewhere, Herongate Athletic were held 1 – 1 by lowly Shoebury Town.

Senior Division Two
In Senior Two, Old Southendian Res extended their unbeaten stetch to seven matches with a 4 – 0 win over AS Rawreth at Garon Park. Greg Molford, Lewis Caplin, Oliver Tatton-Bennett and substitute Ben Franklin all struck here to give Ben Manley’s team a boost by rising up to fifth spot. Also, Beacon Hill Rovers took advantage of their rivals at the top not being in action by leaping up to second, thanks to a 6 – 0 win at Rochford Town. The ensemble scorers’ list included Will Simpson, Adebolu Adeyemi, Stephen Bennett, Josh Perry and replacements Charles Brewer and Nathan Ruggles.
May & Baker Res also got a win, 2 – 1 over Harold Wood Athletic Res thanks to strikes by Gabriel Odili and Daniel Barth. Joe McBurney responded for Ath though they still fell to defeat here. Bakers’ second-side strengthen their hold on 7th after this win. Also, Westhamians sadly withdrew from the league following their inability to play the match with Ryan at Fairlop Oak.
Senior Division Three
Now into Senior Three and Toby Res remain top of the table by three points as they won 2 – 1 against fellow high-flyers Wakebury. Graham Knight and Luis Ruiz struck for the hosts, while Daniel Buglione netted for ten-man Wakebury, who dropped to third. Corinthians Res are up to second after a 4 – 1 triumph over bottom side Hullbridge Sports ‘A’. Max Hall, Ashley Webb, Ryan Woodley and Sonny Woodward all netted for Terry Rose’s team who make it three consecutive league wins now. Tom Ranger got the goal for the Sports development side though they are yet to win in ten league matches. Hutton Res got their second league win with a 3 – 2 success over Lakeside Res at Polo Fields. Another double by Sean O’Callaghan and one from Josh Sumner secured a vital win for the hosts, while Lakeside’s second-string are the only other side yet to win this term.
Elsewhere, ACD Utd won 2 – 1 at Basildon Town Reserves thanks to goals by Sam Payne and Jamie Alexandrou to stay fourth and Collier Row stay fifth after a good 3 – 0 win at fellow mid-table side Leigh Town Res. A brace from Ed Hart and Alfie Kempton accounted for ACD’s goals here. Also, White Ensign Res got a much-needed win, 1 – 0 over Buckhurst Hill Res at the Len Forge Centre, thanks to substitute Lewis Brown’s goal.
