Essex Senior League

Friday 13th Sept

Woodford Town 5 – 0  Southend Manor  | Harlow Arena | Att: 60

The weekend’s action started with a fine win for Woodford in a one-sided affair at the Harlow Arena. Temi Babalola opened the scoring ten minutes in, before Josh Steele [35’] and Georges Kebi [41’] extended their lead into a comfortable one. Late goals by Marcus Painter [78’] and Nektrarious Varouxakis four minutes later ensured a hard first match for Jerry Omango & Craig Waters’ side. Town got their first win in four matches here which took them into the top half. By contrast, Manor’s fourth defeat this term sees them second-bottom.

Saturday 14th Sept

Hadley  6 – 0  Sawbridgeworth Town  | Brickfield Lane  | Att: 68

The Bricks outclassed Sawbo as they fired six goals to record their third league win this term. Ned Clarke led the way with a hat-trick, in-form forward Solomon Ofori nabbed a brace of his own while Manny Hammond got the other goal as Sawbridgeworth’s poor league run continued.

Hoddesdon Town  1 – 0  Clapton   | Lowfield | Att: 85

Hoddesdon clawed their way to a late win over out-of-form Clapton thanks to an added-time spot-kick by Isaac Marfo-Jacobs. Simon Riddle’s team got their third win on-the-spin to also reside in the top ten. Clapton remain in the bottom three.

Sporting Bengal Utd  4 – 0  Ilford   | Mile End | Att: 35

Bengal got arguably the result of the day as they swept aside Ilford at Mile End. Steven Carvell opened the scoring on 17 minutes before Curtley McIntosh continued his scoring run with the second two minutes before half-time. New signing Chaka Bennett stuck with 20 minutes left and Codey Cameron added more pain for the visitors eight minutes later.

Stansted  2 – 1  Cockfosters   |  Hargrave Park | Att: 42

The Airportmen came from behind to notch their first win since the opening day with victory over Cockfosters at Hargrave Park. Reece Mosanya had put the visitors ahead after seven minutes, though after the interval the hosts responded. First, Daniel Cheema levelled three minutes after the break, before Carl Mullings got the winner midway through the second half.

This blog is centred on all things Non-League Football, mainly Match Reports of matches I've seen (mainly Essex Senior League (ESL) but also other Leagues) though it also houses the regular round-up's of the ESL action plus the Essex Olympian League divisions regularly. It also has the odd post about the scary world that we're all in, talking from a Mental Health perspective. Thank you for reading.
