Hello and welcome to another round-up of action in the Essex Olympian League. This weekend we have action from the Essex Senior Cup as well as league action. With thanks to fellow Non-League writer Scott Lanza.
Essex Senior Cup 2018/19 – Sat 6th Oct
Basildon Town 10 – 1 Newbury Forest Res
In the first of our seven in-focus ties, EOFL Division One side Basildon Town put Division Five side Newbury Forest Res to the sword with a huge 10-1 triumph. An Alfie Phillips hat-trick plus braces from Jamie Miller, Alex Witham, substitute Sener Suavi and a solitary goal from Jimmy Markham helped Bas advance freely into the next round.
Buckhurst Hill 5 – 0 Runwell Sports
Olympian Premier outfit Buckhurst Hill powered past Division Two opposition in Runwell Sports 5 – 0 as goals from Nathan Sollosi, Steven Townsend, Frank Glock, Sonny Shilling and Sam Sollosi saw the Hill to a comfortable victory.
Canning Town 0 – 2 Springfield
This all Premier Division-tie saw Springfield prevail at Canning Town as strikes from Graham Hall and David Morgan did the damage and see them progress to the next round.
Corinthians 2 – 3 Bishop’s Stortford Swifts (AET)
Olympian Division Four side Corinthians gave Premier side Bishop’s Stortford Swifts a real fright at the Stambridge Memorial Ground. Swifts needed extra time to complete a 3 -2 victory thanks to a brace from ex-Sawbridgeworth Town striker Gavin Cockman and another goal from Jack Sawyer. Drew Rawlinson and substitute Theodore Cannon struck for the hosts though they showed here that they are going places.
Hutton 1 – 5 Harold Wood Athletic
Another all-Premier tie saw Ath power forward in the competition with a 5-1 success at Polo Fields. John Bradley, Reiss Kingsley, Chris Muir, Joe Stevens and Robert Whitnell all netted for the visitors, who responded through substitute Brad Freeman.
Roydon 1 – 3 Epping Town
Olympian Division Four side Epping continued their good start to the season as they won at Division Three side Roydon 3 – 1. A brace from Daniel Garfinkle and one from ex-Ilford man Alex Paraskeva saw Billy Cove’s side home to progress in the competition.
Toby 1 – 4 Leigh Ramblers
Finally in our featured matches, Premier side Leigh Ramblers evaded a surprise with a 4 – 1 win at Division Two side Toby. Ramblers goals came from a brace by Jack Deasy with Jacob Cleaver and Justin Hazell also finding the net.

EOFL Premier Division
In the only Premier Division match this weekend, Kelvedon Hatch are up to second in the table after a 5-1 win over lowly Manford Way. Michael Daniels notched a hat-trick, with Theo Ola and Antony Aylett providing the other goals. Buckhurst Hill remain at the summit but only goal difference separates them from Kelvedon Hatch.

In the Olympian Senior One action this weekend…
Ramsden Scotia 5 – 2 Frenford Res
Ramsden Scotia are up to second after a 5-2 win over Frenford Res; Steve Paoletti’s hat-trick was added to by strikes from Max Corrigan and Ryan Leddra and the result also keeps Frenford Res at the foot of the table.
May & Baker Res 3 – 7 Ongar Town
May & Baker E.C. Res. remain in the drop zone after a 7-3 defeat at home to Ongar Town. The visitors saw James Stevens and Niki Love both net hat-tricks with Ben Polley also chipping in. Alex Owuaday’s double and Perry Tamburrini scored the May & Baker replies.
Herongate Athletic 0 – 5 Old Chelmsfordians
There was also a hat-trick claimed by Martin Mixture as his Old Chelmsfordians side beat Herongate Athletic 5-0. Elijah Akinolu plus an own goal rounded-up the OC scoring.
Rayleigh Town Res 1 – 2 FC Hamlets
FC Hamlets won 2 – 1 as well, at Rayleigh Town Res, with Darren Serrano and Ishmael Saidy scoring their goals, while Charlie Legg notched the Rayleigh reply.
Galleywood 1 – 2 Shenfield AFC
Harry Hatt scored both of Shenfield AFC’s goals in a 2-1 away win at Galleywood.
EOFL Senior Division Two
Shoebury Town remain top of the pile after a 6-2 home win over Lakeside. Dom Binns led the charge with four goals, with Aaron Cooper and Kirk Hudson also notching.
Harold Wood Athletic Res. are second after a Paul Virdi strike from 25 yards, plus a headed winner from Tom Lamb saw them overcome Newham United 2-1. Lamar Obinkwo scored the Newham goal.
Dwayne Francis-Riley, Matthew Hall and David Watson scored the Rochford Town goals in a 3-3 draw with Upminster; Warren Taylor, Matthew Taylor and Daniel Peermamode scoring the visitors’ goals.
Beacon Hill Rovers move up to seventh place after a slender 1-0 win over strugglers Ryan.
EOFL Senior Division Three
Old Southendian Reserves looked to gain ground on leaders Westhamians. With a five point gap to fill, the Southend-based club travelled to Old Chelmsfordians Res. and were struck down by goals Josh Chapman and Cosmin Rashim, who was making his debut for the hosts as OS lost 2 – 1 . Tom Judge scored the Old Southendian goal.
Danny Pallett scored twice for Wakering Sports, who went on to add a further goal from John Sharpe en route to beating Basildon Town Res. 3-1. Wakering Sports also announced this week that former Southend Manor (of the Essex Senior Lge) assistant boss Aaron Bloxham is their new manager.
Chris Skingley scored twice for Hutton Res. but was still on the losing side as Izaih Antoine, Jasper Read, plus a brace from substitute Harry Somerset-Butler helped White Ensign Res. run out 4-3 winners. Alfie Kempton also got his name down on the Hutton score sheet. Laindon Orient picked up a fine 2-0 away win at Leigh Town with Glen Jordan scoring both their goals.
