Hello and welcome to my round-up of the Essex Olympian League action plus results from the top two tiers of Essex Alliance League action. This weekend saw the Olympian League Premier Division & most Senior One sides involved in Essex Premier Cup action.
Essex Premier Cup
In the first of our ten featured matches, Basildon Town edged Toby 3 – 2 after extra time. Alex Witham bagged a super hat-trick (which included two penalties) to seal Town’s progression though Toby (who were a man light for an hour) made it tight thanks to goals from Ross Dipple and Peter Spicer.
Elsewhere, Buckhurst Hill continued their fine start to the season wih a 8 – 0 thumping of Senior One side Shenfield AFC. Nathan Sollosi and Steve Townsend both snared trebles, with Sonny Shilling and Sam Sollosi also adding one each. Catholic Utd also progressed with a 6 – 2 win over Cressing Utd. Tom Hollingsworth and Billy Shulver both grabbed braces with Tom Kearney and Harley Kee providing the other strikes.
Academy Soccer won 2 – 1 at Dedham Old Boys with Ben Picton’s cracker and a Dean Maguchu goal sealing the win. Kelvedon Hatch won 3 – 1 at Harold Wood Athletic thanks largely to Alan Taylor’s double while James Bertie also netted. John Bradley got Ath’s consolation.
Old Chelmsfordians defeated Snaresbrook 4-2 with a Sam Adams brace being added to by strikes from Tom Tinsley-Gardner and Josh Lawrence. Snaresbrook’s goals came from Mitchell Collymore and Ryan Barker. Old Southendian also hit four in a 4 – 2 win over Great Bentley with a double from NIco Debuchet allied with goals from Nick Henesy and Josh Staines sealing the win.
Also, Rayleigh Town sent fellow Olympian Premier side Leigh Ramblers out as Town won 4 – 2. Max Jones struck another double with George Vile and Jack Long also striking goals, with Justin Hazell and Jacob Cleaver the Ramblers goal-getters.
After Extra Time, Runwell Sports edged Barnston 3 – 2 with Callum Prin, Declan Clarke and Jordan Gregory the goal-scorers for Runwell. Finally in our featured ties, Sungate roared past Lakeside 6 – 2 as doubles from Reece Simpson and Jermaine Purchase plus one goal each from Scott Truman and Jack Clarke seeing them progress into the next round.

Essex Olympian League action
EOFL Senior Division One
In the solitary match in D1, Galleywood were held 2 – 2 at FC Hamlets. Jack Chatterway and Sam Donn got the ‘Wood goals who remain unbeaten in their two league matches thus far, while FC Hamlets are winless in three outings.
EOFL Senior Division Two
Two matches in the division saw ten goals scored. Firstly, Chingford Athletic defeated Newham Utd 5 – 0 at home with Gary Murray, Louis Bollard, Alex Gordon, Umar Ali and Tayo Olasanoye all finding the net. In the other game, May & Baker ‘A’ suffered another loss, this time at home to Harold Wood Athletic Reserves. Thomas Lamb and Jon Tungate both nabbed braces with Michael Buxton getting the other goal.
EOFL Senior Division Three
Westhamians stay top as they won 3 – 2 at home to Basildon Town Reserves plus also they remain unbeaten in four matches thus far. Leigh Town are in third spot after a 4 – 1 win over Old Chelmsfordians Reserves. Zac Mashford, George Darby, Ash Sexton and Jack Edwards all struck for Town while OC ‘s second-string got a goal on the board thanks to Elliott Walker.
Old Southendian Reserves were held 2 – 2 away at Roydon. El Hemmings and David Stubbs netted for the OS Ressies while Darren Williams and Charlie Rider scored for Roydon. Elsewhere, Wakering Sports got their first league success of the season with a 3 – 2 win at Hutton Reserves. Paul Wines’ double and John Sharpe got the goals for Sports. Alfie Kempton and Chris Skingley struck for the Hutton side.
