Welcome to my semi-regular round-up of Bostik League North action with Bostik South results from Saturday 25th November. How did your team do this weekend?

AFC Sudbury 4 – 3 Bowers & Pitsea
| Venue: Wardale Williams Stadium | Attendance: 244

The Suds did the damage in the first half as they fought off a comeback by Bowers to claim the points here. The hosts broke the deadlock 12 minutes in through Max Booth though a deluge of goals after the half-hour from Reece Dobson [31′], and Ben Hunter [33′ & 45′] put the home side in a very commanding position at the break. Bowers responded soon into the second half as David Knight [pen 51′] and Ben Sartain [67′] halved the lead. Though Fahad Nyanja [72′] ensured a competitive finale to the match, the Suds held on to extend their unbeaten stretch to four league matches and are 12th in the table. Bowers suffered their first loss here in six league matches and reside in 4th spot.

Barking 2 – 0 Romford
| Venue: Mayesbrook Park | Attendance: 93

Barking continued their great league run as they battled to defeat Romford at Mayesbrook Park. The hosts led on 10 minutes through Ben O’Brien though only sealed the points late on through Kiernan Hughes-Mason’s strike [87′]. Barking have now amassed five league wins on-the-spin and now sit 5th while bottom side Romford’s tough run goes on.

Canvey Island 0 – 3 Potters Bar Town
| Venue: Park Lane | Attendance: 193

Canvey were outplayed by in-form Potters Bar at Park Lane. Two goals in four minutes from Eoin Casey [29′] and Lee O’Leary [32′] put Danny Heale’s side on the back foot at the break. Steve Brown added a third for the Scholars six minutes from time to extend their unbeaten run to five league games now. Canvey’s third loss in their last five league matches means they’re in 3rd spot.

Cheshunt 2 – 1 Aveley
| Venue: Theobalds Lane | Attendance: 160

Cheshunt grabbed a rare win against fellow strugglers Aveley at Theobalds Lane. Aveley took the lead through Sewa Marah’s goal on 22 minutes though ten minutes after the break, Jason Hallett levelled for the Ambers. Substitute Michael Kalu [66′] got the decisive goal as Cheshunt got their first win in five league matches. Aveley have only won one of their last seven league matches now and sit in 21st, above today’s opponents only on goal difference.

Grays Athletic 1 – 0 Soham Town Rangers
| Venue: Parkside | Attendance: 169

Grays grabbed a narrow win over Soham at Parkside. Veteran midfielder Glenn Poole grabbed the only goal with 18 minutes remaining to give Ath their first win in five league games to go 14th in the table. Soham’s third straight loss means they drop to 17th.

Hertford Town 1 – 1 Norwich Utd
| Venue: Hertingfordbury Park | Attendance: 154

Hertford were held by lowly Norwich Utd here. The hosts led thanks to Ben Andreos’s opener [14′] though Tim Henery’s penalty 12 minutes later eventually sealed a point for the Planters. Norwich Utd’s winless run extends to six matches and they remain second bottom.

Maldon & Tiptree 5 – 1 Dereham Town
| Venue: Park Drive | Attendance: 78

Maldon showed their class as they dismantled leaders Dereham at Park Drive. Jammers’ hot-shot Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe’s first-half hat-trick [10′, pen 34′ & 35′] gave the Magpies a proverbial mountain to climb though Ryan Crisp did get a consolation on the hour. Further goals from Ryan Gondoh [63′] and substitute Kieran Bailey [68′] sealed Maldon’s fourth straight league win which sees them sit 6th in the table. Dereham remain top despite this defeat.

Tilbury 2 – 2 AFC Hornchurch
| Venue: Chadfields | Attendance: 154

Tilbury held the Urchins at Chadfields. Abdus Salami opened the scoring for the hosts on the quarter-hour though Theo Fairweather-Johnson levelled 13 minutes later. Five minutes after the break, Elliot Styles gave Hornchurch the lead though the hosts claimed a point as Adam Vyse struck with eight minutes left.

Waltham Abbey 4 – 1 Bury Town
| Venue: Capershotts | Attendance: 63

In-form Abbey overwhelmed Bury Town to claim the points at Capershotts. The hosts had a two-goal cushion at the break through goals from Billy Holland [32′] and Nathan Koranteng [39′]. This blog is centred on all things Non-League Football, mainly Match Reports of matches I've seen (mainly Essex Senior League (ESL) but also other Leagues) though it also houses the regular round-up's of the ESL action plus the Essex Olympian League divisions regularly. It also has the odd post about the scary world that we're all in, talking from a Mental Health perspective. Thank you for reading.
