Hello & welcome to another round-up  of the midweek action that took place in the Bostik League Division North & South (results) here on my blog, this time featuring a midweek fixture list on Monday 23rd, Tuesday 24th & Wednesday 25th October. How did your team do? Following that, we’ll also have a results listing for various County Cup ties & more that were played in midweek.

Monday 23rd October

Bostik Division South

Carshalton Athletic  0  –  3  Greenwich Borough

| Venue: Colston Avenue | Att: 314

Tuesday 24th October

Bostik Division North

AFC Hornchurch   0 – 1   Dereham Town

Venue: Bridge Avenue  |    Attendance: 136

Dereham produced an excellent away-day display to record a narrow win at Bridge Avenue. Ryan Crisp got the only goal on 19 minutes to end the Urchins’ ten-match unbeaten start in the league. Hornchurch remain in third place in the table while Town go top following their sixth straight league success.

Barking   2 – 1      Aveley

Venue: Mayesbrook Park   |    Attendance: 78

Barking came from behind to grab all three points against out-of-form Aveley at Mayesbrook Park. The Millers took the lead after seven minutes through Ross Gleed’s strike. Three minutes into the second half, Kiernan Hughes-Mason levelled for Justin Gardner’s side. The hosts got the winner with five minutes remaining thanks to Abs Seymour’s goal, recording their first win in six league matches.

Cheshunt  3 – 2  Mildenhall Town

Venue: Theobalds Lane    |    Attendance: 142

The Ambers picked up a rare win in a real see-saw encounter at Theobalds Lane. The Hall broke the deadlock on 13 minutes as Luke Butcher struck. The hosts restored parity 11 minutes later thanks to the influential Tom Bruno. The visitors led again just before half-time through Matthew Green. A quick double-goal salvo turned the tide though as The Ambers first levelled through Manny Osei Bowe[65’] and then a penalty from Bruno [72’] was the eventual winner to give Steve Newing’s side only their third win so far this term. They rise to 21st in the table while Mildenhall’s third straight loss in the league sees them in 13th place.

Ware   2 – 4   Bowers & Pitsea

Venue: Wodson Park   |  Attendance: 55

Bowers picked another important win away from home with this success at Wodson Park. Ware took an early lead on ten minutes through Murat Karagul though Tony Stokes levelled for Bowers four minutes later. Further first-half goals from David Knight [23’] and Jamie Salmon [27’] turned the tables on Kem Kemal’s side. Ben Sartain made it 4-1 on 68 minutes before the hosts pulled one back late on through Gareth Madden. Ware also finished the match a man light as Junior Appiah was given a straight red card. Bowers picked up their ninth win this term, while Ware’s winless run extends to four matches now.

 Witham Town   2 – 3     Hertford Town

Venue: Spa Road   |  Attendance: 95

Hertford overcame ten-man Witham to complete another successful evening, this time at Spa Road. Tommy Wade gave the visitors the lead on 24 minutes. Max Bradford equalised 11 minutes later for Witham. A crucial point in the match transpired six minutes after the break as Tyler Corlett was given his marching orders leaving Witham a man down for the remaining 40 minutes of this encounter. It only took the visitors two minutes after the red card to re-take, Ricky Light the scorer. Brett O’Connor made it three in injury-time though the action wasn’t done there as Witham’s Sam Ashford gave them a late consolation. In any case, Hertford’s sixth win of the season sees them jump to seventh spot while the hosts’ fifth loss in their last nine matches sees them in 22nd spot.

Haringey rallied late-on to deny Grays the win at Parkside. A quick-fire double from the hosts from Jamie Slabber [38’] and Adeyinka Cole [41’] gave Ath a decent lead at the break. Four minutes after the break, Haringey hot-shot Ralston Gabriel halved the visitors’ arrears. Cole struck again on the hour to give Jamie Stuart’s side a 3-1 lead. Gabriel once again showed his prowess late on though [87’ & 90’] to complete his hat-trick and secure a late point for Borough. I'm a Mental Health survivor (been surviving for years) & campaigner. I also like Music & Sport. This blog is centred on all things Non-League Football, mainly Match Reports of matches I've seen (mainly Essex Senior League (ESL) but also other Leagues) though it also houses the regular round-up's of the ESL action plus the Essex Olympian League divisions regularly. It also has the odd post about the scary world that we're all in, talking from a Mental Health perspective. Thank you for reading.
