Hello & welcome to my round-up of the action from the FA Cup Third Qualifying Round focusing on National League South and Isthmian League Premier Division & Division North sides. Saturday 30th September
Ashford Town (Middx) 1 – 2 Leatherhead
Venue: The Robert Parker Stadium | Attendance: 277
The Tangerines started well though ultimately exited at the hands of Isthmian Premier Division side Leatherhead at the Robert Parker Stadium. Alex Fisher’s penalty gave the hosts the lead after just three minutes. The Tanners were level 11 minutes later through Lee Minshull’s goal. On 56 minutes, ex-pro striker Jack Midson got the winner to seal Sammy Moore’s side a place in the Fourth Qualifying Round.
Bath City 3 – 0 Hemel Hempstead Town
Venue: Twerton Park | Attendance: 510
National League South side Bath left it late to seal their place in the round with victory over fellow NL South side Hemel at Twerton Park. The Romans led on 45 minutes through skipper Frankie Artus before late goals Andy Watkins (90’+1) and substitute Jamie Lucas (90’+3) sealed the hosts’ progression.
Brackley Town 4 – 1 Braintree Town
Venue: St James Park, Churchill Way | Attendance: 383
NL North side comfortably defeated NL South side Braintree at St James Park. Glenn Walker gave the Saints the lead after only four minutes. Luke Graham made it two ten minutes into the second half, before Ellis Myles extended the lead still further only a minute later. Aaron Williams struck on 65 minutes to eliminate any doubt that Kevin Wilkin’s side would progress. The Iron pulled one back through substitute Karl Olyide with ten minutes left though they exit the competition here.
Burgess Hill Town 1 – 0 Wealdstone
Venue: Leylands Park | Attendance: 590
Isthmian Premier side Burgess Hill struck late to send NL South side Wealdstone out in front of a good crowd at Leylands Park. Cheik Toure got the only goal on the stroke of 90 minutes to seal the Hillians’ place in the next round.
Chelmsford City 2 – 1 Weymouth
Venue: Melbourne Park | Attendance: 664
Chelmsford sealed their place in the next round by defeating the Terras at Melbourne Park. Chris Dickson’s spot-kick put the Clarets ahead on 58 minutes. Dickson completed his brace with a cracking drive with ten minutes to play. The visitors pulled one back a minute from time through Baker though the Evo-Stik Southern Premier side go out.
Cinderford Town 2 – 3 Hampton & Richmond Borough
Venue: The Causeway
Hampton overcame a scare to book their place in the next round. Declan Morley-Lyne gave the hosts the lead in the first minute. Taurean Roberts’ header on 32 minutes restored parity for the NL South side, though Cinderford went ahead once again through skipper Lewis’s penalty on the hour. Substitute Brendan Kiernan changed the course of this match though with a brace (80’ & 88’) which sealed Alan Dowson’s side’s progression and heartbreak for the hosts.
Concord Rangers 3 – 0 Dorking Wanderers
Venue: Thames Road | Attendance: 141
NL South side Concord ensured their place in the next round at the expense of Isthmian Premier side Dorking at Thames Road. Amos Nasha gave the Beach Boys the lead on 17 minutes. After the break, goals from captain Steve Cawley (50’) and Jordan Cox (59’) sealed the win for Adam Flanagan’s side.
Eastbourne Borough 0 – 2 Bognor Regis Town
Venue: Priory Lane | Attendance: 762
Bognor sealed their place in the next round by defeating NL South rivals Eastbourne at Priory Lane. Ollie Pearce’s brace (10’ & 49’) sealed the win for Jack Pearce’s men at the expense of former Rocks manager Jamie Howell and his Sports side.
East Thurrock Utd 2 – 2 Harlow Town
Venue: Rookery Hill
Harlow held the Rocks to a draw at Rookery Hill. Talimanic striker Sam Higgins put the hosts ahead on 18 minutes though Alex Read levelled for Town on the half-hour. Xavier Vidal gave the visitors the lead just four minutes later. Higgins struck again on 66 minutes to level for John Coventry’s side. Harlow had to play the last 24 minutes with a man down as Craig Pope was dismissed for two bookings. Higgins had a spot-kick saved by Town ‘keeper Ben McNamara with 13 minutes remaining so it will go to a replay at the Harlow Arena on Tuesday night.
Enfield Town 3 – 0 Phoenix Sports
Venue: Queen Elizabeth II Stadium | Attendance: 501
A bumper Enfield crowd saw Isthmian Premier side Town defeat Isthmian South side Phoenix. Mario Noto (7’) and Simon Thomas (10’) put the hosts two ahead early-on before substitute Montell Moore sealed the win with three minutes left.
Folkestone Invicta 2 – 1 Aylesbury Utd
Venue: The Fullicks Stadium | Attendance: 473
Invicta sealed the win after being pegged back initially at The Fullicks. Joe Taylor put Invicta ahead on 25 minutes, before Lea Coulter levelled six minutes before the break. Adam Yusuff got the winner eleven minutes into the second half to seal their place in the next round.
Haringey Borough 4 – 1 Bideford AFC
Venue: Coles Park | Attendance: 267
Haringey produced a good performance to make the next round at Coles Park. Rolston Gabriel put the hosts ahead on 24 minutes. After the break, Anthony McDonald doubled the lead five minutes into the second half. Gabriel struck twice more (62’ & 72’) to claim the match ball and seal the win. Craig Allan’s goal a minute from time was scant consolation for the Robins who exit the competition here.
Hayes & Yeading Utd 0 – 4 Havant & Waterlooville
Venue: Beaconsfield Road | Attendance: 241
NL South side Havant produced an excellent away-day performance to seal the win at ten-man Hayes & Yeading. Hayes were a man light after 50 minutes as skipper Spyros Mentis was dismissed. The Hawks took full advantage of that as Rory Williams opened the scoring on 55 minutes. Jason Prior made it two four minutes later before goals from Ryan Woodford (61’) and substitute James Hayter (74’) sealed the visitors’ progression to the next round.

Hereford 2 – 0 AFC Hornchurch
Venue: Edgar Street | Attendance: 2,440
Evo-Stik Southern Premier side Hereford won of the battle of the Step 4 sides in front of a big crowd at Edgar Street. Second-half goals from Keyon Reffell (61’) and John Mills (pen 65’) were enough to seal the win for Peter Beadle’s side.
Heybridge Swifts 2 – 1 Frome Town
Venue: Scraley Road | Attendance: 244
Isthmian North side Swifts continued their fine FA Cup run with a good win at Scraley Road. Hot-shot Juan Luque put the hosts ahead on the half-hour. Chas Hemmings levelled for Town with 16 minutes remaining though Jody Brown’s side were not to be denied as Sam Bantick got the winner four minutes later.
Hungerford Town 1 – 1 Billericay Town
Venue: Bulpit Lane | Attendance: 507
NL South side held ambitious Isthmian Premier side Billericay at Bulpit Lane. Stefan Brown’s spot-kick on 31 minutes put the Crusaders ahead. Substitute Ricky Modeste levelled for the Blues on 67 minutes and despite pressure from the visitors, a replay is required at New Lodge in midweek.
Margate 2 – 0 Herne Bay
Venue: Hartsdown Park | Attendance: 1,009
A bumper crowd saw Isthmian Premier side Margate prevail at Hartsdown Park. A brace from Jordan Chiedozie (53’ & 59’) sealed the win for Steve Watt’s side over their Isthmian Division South visitors.
Needham Market 1 – 6 Dartford
Venue: Bloomfields | Attendance: 379
NL South side Dartford put in a devastating performance to reach the next round at Bloomfields. Alfie Pavey’s first-half hat-trick (21’,35’ & 45’) put the Darts in command and Tom Murphy put the result beyond doubt four minutes into the second half. Sam Nunn pulled one back for the Marketmen on 66 minutes though Andy Pugh made it 5-1 five minutes later. Needham were a man down with 8 minutes to play as Billy Holland was dismissed. Hayes got the sixth in added-time to seal a great day for Tony Burman’s side.
Oxford City 4 – 2 Leiston
Venue: Marsh Lane | Attendance: 185
NL South side Oxford City struck very late to seal their place in the next round. Byron Lawrence gave the visitors the lead after six minutes. City levelled ten minutes later through Joe Oastler. Isthmian Premier side Leiston re-took the lead through Matt Blake on 73 minutes though Dave Pearce restored parity again for the hosts with nine minutes to play before two stoppage-time goals from Enza Forde and Rob Sinclair sealed a narrow win for Mark Jones’ side.
St Albans City 2 – 1 Bridport
Venue: Clarence Park |
NL South side St Albans got the win at Clarence Park. Shaun Lucien gave the hosts the lead on 24 minutes before Kiangebeni doubled the lead seven minutes later. Bridport did pull one back through Leigh Bailey nine minutes into the second half though Ian Allinson’s held out to book their place in the next round.
Slough Town 2 – 1 Poole Town
Venue: Arbour Park | Attendance: 680
Evo-Stik Southern Premier side Slough upset NL South side Poole to book their place in the next round. The visitors took the lead through Warren Bentley’s goal on the half-hour. Slough levelled through Chris Flood twele minutes into the second half before George Wells sent the Rebels’ crowd wild with the winner with seven minutes to play.
Truro City 4 – 1 AFC Sudbury
Venue: Treyew Road | Attendance: 359
NL South side Truro held off the challenge of Isthmian North side Sudbury at Treyew Road to make the next round for the first time in their history. Sudbury started well as they took the lead four minutes in thanks to Tevan Allen’s goal. The hosts levelled through Chris Todd a minute before the break. Aaron Lamont put City ahead for the first time six minutes into the second-half before late goals from Tyler Harvey (84’) and Stewart Yetton (90’) sealed the White Tigers’ progress into the next round.
