Hello & welcome to a round-up of the limited ESL action this weekend followed by the ESL table, plus the results in the FA Vase Second Qualifying Round and Essex Olympian League this weekend.
Friday 22nd September
Woodford Town (2017) 1 – 2 Hackney Wick
Venue: Goffs Lane | Attendance: 25
Wick started the weekend’s action with a good win at Goffs Lane. Andre Bennett got the goal for the home side seven minutes from half-time. Wick’s goals came from Jeffrey Idemudia and Ibrahim Camara as the visitors picked up their third win of the season.
Saturday 23rd September
Clapton 3 – 2 FC Romania
Venue: Old Spotted Dog | Attendance: 83
Clapton produced a stirring comeback to claim the win at the Old Spotted Dog Stadium. The Wolves went ahead through Florin Pop’s opener (17’). Clapton levelled three minutes before half-time thanks to Jay Morris’s goal. An OG on the stroke of half-time saw the visitors ahead at the break. The Tons, who were forced to put skipper Jerry Jairette in goal as all three goalkeepers were unavailable, restored parity again on the hour through Jeffrey Cobblah and Steven Sardinha got the eventual winner with 18 minutes remaining. FC Romania ended the match with nine men as they had two players dismissed late on.
Stansted 8 – 0 Wadham Lodge
Venue: Hargrave Park | Attendance: 24
Stansted produced a second-half blitz to record a big win against out-of-form Wadham at Hargrave Park. The Airportmen took the initiative after the restart as they were four up by the hour mark thanks to Jack Isherwood (50’), Nick Brown (52’), Dave Limber (57’) and Mick Carpenter (60’). Ryan Ramsey made it five on 71 minutes before late goals from Chris Gormley (76’) and Limber (85’) & Brown’s (87’) second of the afternoon sealed the rout to give Stansted their third win of the season.
